My company develops payment plugins for Magento Commerce. I'm about to release a free Bitcoin (JSON-RPC) extension (http://www.magentocommerce.com/magento-connect/catalog/product/view/id/17305/; once approved).

I have a question concerning best practices of accounts versus addresses. In my implementation I decided to use a unique account for each order number. This way I could track using bitcoind getreceivedbyaccount, even if there are multiple address (is possible). So I create a unique address for each payment attempt, stored under a wallet account for the order number.

For example:
- checkout attempt #1: order ABC = account ABC, address 123
- customer cancels
- checkout attempt #2: order ABC = account ABC, address 456 (new attempt, different address, but same account)

The hierarchy is like this:
Bitcoin wallet = Store
 - Account x = Order
   - Address y = Payment attempt

However, order numbers are linked to addresses in Magento. Is this considered a privacy concern?

heb je ervaring met web servers? Om Bitcoin te draaien heb je een eigen server of VPS nodig. Denk niet dat het lukt op shared hosting.

Je moet een Bitcoin wallet op je server draaien. Bijvoorbeeld bitcoind op Ubuntu, of desnoods bitcoin-qt op Windows. Die programma's hebben een configuratie-bestand waarin je de "RPC server kunt inschakelen".

Voor Ubuntu is een zogenaamde PPA beschikbaar:

Als je die toevoegt, kun je "apt-get install bitcoin" doen, volgens mij. Het configuratie-bestand staat dan in ~/bitcoin/bitcoin.conf

Waarom kan ik niet in de Engelstalige fora posten?

Butterfly labs zou best eens een scam kunnen zijn. Ze beloven al 8 maanden lang "volgende week te leveren".
Ze laten die kasten door Chinezen bouwen. Uiteraard eerst zelf Bitcoins draaien, met pre-paid geld van klanten.

Dat andere bedrijf, Avalon, die lijkt wel serieuzer en heeft daadwerkelijk systemen geleverd. Van 65-85 Gh/s. Dan heeft het zin.

Met de komst van de ASIC systemen van Avalon en Butterflylabs hoeft je hier eigenlijk niet aan te beginnen. De eerste Avalon machines zijn al verzonden naar klanten en halen 65-85 Gh/s (1 machine doet dus 3x zoveel als de hele BTcGuild.com bijelkaar op dit moment!). Daar kun je niet meer mee concurreren. Koop dan liever een Avalon machine

In dit verhaal ligt het probleem toch helemaal niet bij PostNL? Als je geen factuur met EUR kunt overleggen, klopt je verhaal niet. Bitcoins zijn geen wettelijk betaalmiddel voor de belastingdienst/overheid/postNL etc. etc. Als je iets koopt/verkoopt moet je altijd de EUR waarde op de factuur zetten. Je kan de BTC waarde ernaast zetten, maar dat heeft geen rechtsgeldige betekenis.

Veiliger? Nee, ik zoek eigenlijk hardware producenten die dit kunnen maken. Ik vind het raar dat in Nederland/Duitsland niemand hiermee bezig is. Als je zulke apparatuur kunt leveren, laat je ze natuurlijk eerst een maandje of 2 "testdraaien" voordat je ze naar klanten verzend he. Intussen de bitcoins binnenharken. Dat is precies wat die gasten bij Butterfly en Avalon doen, die zijn praktisch miljonair intussen.

Hi, ik neem aan dat Avalon en Butterfly hun chips niet zelf maken, maar ook weer uitbesteden aan hardware-producenten. In Europa lijkt dus niemand zich hiermee bezig te houden? Valt me toch tegen.

Zijn er hardware producenten op Nederlandse bodem die ASIC systemen kunnen leveren voor Bitcoin mining?

De alternatieven zijn in het buitenland Butterfly Labs and Avalon, maar zitten in Amerika. Ik vertrouw de internationale verzending van zulke kasten niet. Die komen stuk aan en dan krijg je natuurlijk pas 6 maanden later een nieuwe, of niet.

Hi, voorlopig zul je de facturen natuurlijk in EUR blijven sturen. Je verkoopt maandelijks je bitcoins op MtGox. Vergelijk die opbrengst met je Bitcoin-facturen en reken de winst/verlies uit. Bij verlies opgeven als 'overige kosten'. Bij winst als dusdanig opgeven ("verkoop Bitcoins aan MtGox").
Je handelt dus in naam van je bedrijf in Bitcoins en betaalt belasting over de winst. MtGox zit in Japan dus heb je 0 BTW% (Ex EU).

Je EUR-verhaal staat dus helemaal los van je BTC-verhaal.

Wel netjes je MtGox transactie-overzichten bewaren voor de belastingdienst, dus met je wettelijke bedrijfsnaam op MtGox handelen!
