1401  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: NICEHASH confirmed - hacked - Any legit alternatives? on: December 07, 2017, 07:55:40 PM
Very sad day indeed , I was one of those lazy miners , I was introduced to Nicehash back in June , I have not looked back since , thankfully I have cashed out every Friday....this Friday will be the first Friday I have not cashed out !!!!

I guess I have to get real or sell my kit !! thankfully not a bad time to be selling hardware due to the price of BTC going through the roof Smiley

Maybe jump back in when a real lazy style alternative shows up.

Nicehash is dead in the water , anyone hold their breath for it come back online anytime soon , is likely to run out of breath !!! but I shall holds out until Monday and see what happens!

I hope it won't come back online, and if it does, only a lazy retard would do mining there to get scammed once again Grin

When Bitcoin price surges, human nature shows itself, always the same excuse "oh dear, I've been somehow hacked", lies and more lies, but don't worry, Lambos are unworthy in hell.  Grin

Well ... I was getting more than $6/day per RX Vega 56 with NH when BTC was around 15K.  Now it seems I'll be lucky to get $4/day per card mining Monero with XMR-STAK (1800ish h/s per card).  I'm not sure why so many people are saying their profits have increased substantially due to a decrease in difficulty.  If that's the case, what am I missing?

Because everyone and their mother bought out all the VEGA's to mine along with you...  People smell profit and then devour quickly.

I said that people are saying their profits have increased due to the difficulty level decrease that having NH out of the picture has created.  That has nothing to do with what anyone is mining with.  The night before NH went down, I was hitting about 6.50/day per card with them.  When they went down, people started saying they were seeing record profits because NH was down, so difficulty had decreased with all of those NH users not mining.  I tried switching to XMR-STAK.  NH was paying more per card to mine Cryptonight than a mining pool with XMR-STAK mining Monero straight up.  All of that while difficulty is supposedly down?

They weren't mining XMR with cryptonight algo on Nicehash.

What were they mining using the cryptonight algo then?

Is WinMiner really good at all?

I see people in this thread saying they are getting decent money per day with Winminer.... but WinMiner is very bad for me.

I have an Intel i7-6850k with a Titan Xp.

With Nicehash I was getting $5+ per day ($1+ for CPU and $4+ for GPU).... But with Winminer I am getting less than $3 per day for both CPU and GPU...

Why is Winminer so bad for me?... Also the app seems slow and buggy. Nicehash app (Legacy and the new Nicehash) both run very stable for me, but Winminer feels slow and buggy.

Winminer is buggy as fuck.  Maybe part of it has to do with the surge in use yesterday.  I tested it on a 6 gpu rig last night.  Less profitable than NH was during few hours that I had it running.

Why isn't there an option for the AMD Vega 56 and 64's on whattomine.com?
1406  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: NiceHash hacked? on: December 06, 2017, 02:46:55 PM
as much as i can see from their twitter feed
they are just running a maintenance and i think it will be fixed soon
not to worry much

its more than that all thier pools are dead too

They're just cleaning the leaves out of the pools.
1407  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Can't turn on rig with 4th GPU... on: December 05, 2017, 11:57:35 PM
this is a known case, as written above, 4g decoding + pci-e gen2 will solve your problem with a high probability.

I'm with you on this one, because I ran into the issue last night while building a 6 gpu rig with the same board.  Maybe he could up the power suppy situation a bit, but that isn't going to solve the problem that he is having.  I swapped pcie slots, swapped riser adapters, swapped gpu's.  Everything was working just fine, until I tried to add the 4th card.  Did a little google searching and found out what the real problem was.
1408  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Can't turn on rig with 4th GPU... on: December 05, 2017, 09:21:47 PM
I have the following setup:

OS: EthOS latest, running fine with 3 GPUS
Motherboard: Asus Prime Z270-P
CPU: Intel i3
PSU: Corsair RM850
GPU's: Sapphire RX850 8gb

The rig has been working fine for months, just received my 4th GPU in the mail.
After plugging it in using this cable https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00A45JA52/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
All I get when trying to power up is a "click" from the PSU, and nothing else.

I disconnected the 4th GPU, and now only running with 3 cards.

Would there be a problem with running 4 GPU's on an RM850 ?

I just built a rig with the exact board last night and had the same issue.  The bios needs to be upgraded and a couple of changes need to be made in the bios after you've upgraded it.  Looking for the link to the youtube video that I followed to fix this problem.  Give me a minute.

1409  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Why people are using nicehash? on: December 01, 2017, 06:49:34 PM
From my friend I understood it's just simple way to mine and not to do anything.

He just using nicehash because he doesn't want to do anything else and he is ok with that.

So it's basically only because of the laziness.

Lol ... I wouldn't call someone lazy who uses NH, even if they have been using it for as long as it has been around.  Perhaps the difference in profit isn't worth the time it would take them to do anything more with it at the present time.  Is the difference in profit worth quitting your full time job for?  Maybe if you work at McDonald's or deliver pizza, it is.

Is the difference in profit worth the time it would take away from your other obligations?  Each person has to answer that for themselves.  The answer isn't the same for everyone.

1411  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain's Released Antminer S9, World's First 16nm Miner Ready to Order on: November 24, 2017, 04:13:28 AM
All 4 s-9s and still not shipped.

2 are  Nov 21-30
1 is    Dec    1-10
1 is    Jan     1-10

They still have a week on the first order, right?  Is Nov 21-30 supposed to be the delivery or ship date?  I asked them in an email about the estimations on their website, but it was never returned.  After reading about Bitmain for a little while, I realize that their business practices are like most other large manufacturing businesses in China, in terms of the customer support and satisfaction that we expect in the USA.

The executive Chinamen (in a business that big) simply do not give a fuck about the customer, so customer service is non-existent.  I've dealt with exactly the same thing in other business dealings with Chinese manufacturing.  If you’re not buying goods from them on a very large scale per order, you won’t get any sort of response to any inquiry.  If you’ve already paid them, they care even less.

My thoughts are that the Chinaman executive does not care to employ the number of people that it would require to provide customer service to those of us who are buying 10k usd worth of goods per order.  The Chinaman doesn’t care to notice that a lot of a little equals a little of a lot.

Lastly, and from previous business experience with the Chinaman, the only way to come out on top is the fuck the Chinaman, before he fucks you.  Never forget, the Chinaman is always looking for a way to fuck you, because you live in the USA.  They are still pissed off because their government won’t even allow them to use an alternative currency.  China hurts every other country just as much as they help.  They just cancel themsevles out in the long term.

Don't forget security!

Ledger Nano S  at 21% off this weekend in Black Friday Weekend Sale! from 24.11-27.11, (also cyber monday)

Is there such a thing called cyber monday?! This is relevant to my intrests  Grin Grin

Yeah it's pretty stupid to be honest.  Several years ago people started describing Cyber Monday as the Monday after Thanksgiving in the USA when everyone was back to work and shopping online in their offices.  It's just another day for companies to say their have shit on sale.  Mostly, it's like any other day.  Idiots.
1413  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: WHATS THE BEST HARDWARE TO START MINING? on: November 22, 2017, 01:25:46 PM
i dont recommend to buy presale products , especially greedy scammers companies like Bitmain. They are showing that they sell products in batches but no matter they changed their strategy they sell lots of them , so miner will be heater before you receive it. Here you will  see some shitmain's dogs are barking to protect that company and telling some stories about how they perfectly calculated /predicted and most funny that they made all these calculations now , when every thing clear they make predictions Smiley)
So there is no way to calculate before 1st batch received by people, so their calculation stories just another scam.
buy some good graphic cards from gamers for cheap, rx470 is a good candidate if you can buy it cheap.

You must have bought D3's.

How's he going to afford 6 GTX1070's on a 1000USD budget?  Aren't they around $400 each?
1416  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain's Released Antminer S9, World's First 16nm Miner Ready to Order on: November 18, 2017, 01:38:37 AM
Are the EVGA SuperNOVA 1600 G2 80+ GOLD, 1600W PSU's going to be overkill for use with the S9?  I realize they are triple the price of the
APW3++ PSU's, but they come with a 10 year warranty.  My thought is that it's one less thing that has to be shipped back to Bitmain, if it fails.

I could buy 3 APW3++ PSU's for the price of the one mentioned above and just have spares, but if they are only going to last a year, I'd rather go with something that has a 10 year warranty.

I don't think I have much of a choice on the Antminer S9, because there is nothing else like it on the market.  That's just a fact that I'm beginning to understand that I'm going to have to accept.

1417  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain's Released Antminer S9, World's First 16nm Miner Ready to Order on: November 18, 2017, 01:10:38 AM
To those who have purchased from Bitmain with them only accepting BCH, any recommendations on wallets and exchanges to use?
1418  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain's Released Antminer S9, World's First 16nm Miner Ready to Order on: November 17, 2017, 02:43:35 AM
If they had 14TH/s S9's, why is the Jan 11-20,2018 batch 13.5TH/s?  Should I just wait for the next batch?  It doesn't seem like this one is selling out as quickly as others have described previous batches of the S9.  Somewhere in the 249 pages of this thread, I read that one batch sold out in hours.

The sales rate depends largely on their (expected) stock quantity and the demand. Neither factors are publicly available. At the rate they are pumping out miners between now and January, one would expect the difficulty to escalate greatly. This may also be influencing sales.

This next bit is speculation:
History shows that as Bitmain starts producing miners that have better and better hashrates (also with lower failures) and then suddenly starts selling-off large quantities of batches which seem to be a regression towards earlier models' hashrates, they are dumping their stock to prepare for an improved model.

I don't know when they put up the Jan11 ship date batch for sale, but I would say that they aren't in their greatest demand anymore, if other batches sold out in hours and people were camping out for them like the next f-ing iPhone.  From what I've read about Bitmain, I hope mid-sized operations in the USA are realizing that Bitmain is a shit company and demand better customer service.  Why should anyone be paying for return shipping to China on a unit that failed under warranty?
1419  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Dead S9 Boards, any tips? on: November 17, 2017, 12:32:35 AM
If you're able to remove the boards, can't they just be replaced with new ones?  Does anyone sell them?  Are they super expensive?  I'm looking into buying a couple of S9's, but all of the problems I keep reading about scare me.  Not to mention the complaints that Bitmain is horrible at customer service.
Bitmain has gone very far downhill and there's no easy way to get replacement boards, especially for the S9. You might be able to find them on the forums, possibly from Aliexpress/Alibaba or eBay/other third party sellers. They are indeed plagued by issues like quality and customer service, I would recommend considering a Canaan A7 over the Antminers. Even though they're cheaper it's not worth the risk of hardware problems and costly repairs imho.

I'm looking at the Canaan A7's as well.  Why are you saying the S9's are cheaper though?  Bitmain has the S9's at $1415 plus $105 for power supply and Canaan has the AvalonMiner 741 at $798 plus $260 for power supply on Amazon plus the price of a controller.  I also thought that I read the power consumption on the AvalonMiner 741 was way too high.
1420  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Dead S9 Boards, any tips? on: November 17, 2017, 12:22:21 AM
Bitmain does not sell replacement hash boards. You can always buy an extra miner and use it for parts!

How many hash boards are in each S9?
