14021  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: How to mine using my laptop on: July 12, 2014, 11:33:50 PM
Hi All members, Am new to this forum and wanted to know of how can I use my laptop to mine bitcoins, is it possible to do so if YES then how, which pool should I join and which client should I use

I think you have to have a god-spec laptop: D

if you are a regular spec is very regrettable, later on your laptop may bsia short lifespan air: D

as well as unbalanced income: D

Regular or great laptop specs it's still not advisable to mine on it.  And most likely not profitable.

14024  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to run 2 miners from different manufacturers on: July 12, 2014, 10:35:00 AM
Hi everyone, I'm new to mining and started pool mining this week with a Antminer U2 from my PC. I just purchased a Rockminer R-box and I'm wondering how I would run both at the same time. I'm using bfgminer for the U2 currently and have a command file for that.

I'm reading that the R-box only works with cgminer so I would have to run zadig to replace the driver and my first question is I would have to start using cgminer for the U2 also if I'm correct?

Second question is if I have both the U2 and R-box on cgminer, do I create 2 different command files for each one and then have 2 separate command windows running or can I combine the code for both miners into one command file and have just one command window?

Thanks for any help in advance

You can have multiple CGminer windows selecting device to mine.

I wish i could help on the setup of drivers together on those two but I do not own those products.
14025  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin faucet as a form of punishment on: July 12, 2014, 10:31:05 AM
Bitcoin faucets are trying to punish me for visiting them with a tremendous amount of Ads, most of them jumping out of the blue. My eyes don't  want ot visit any more. It is not just annoying, it seems very unhealthy for the eyes. I seem to be one of the less visitor and still, they want me out or not?

Don't use it if it annoy you.

I don't suggest using faucets to much time for the VERY little pay.  But if you do those adds are what are paying for that little pay you get.

Still great reviews from the hosting at professional data center in taizhou.  Worth looking at if in the market for a hosted miner!
14027  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Headless miner getting hijacked on: July 11, 2014, 01:34:27 PM
rebuild it - most likely they've installed something on it for remote control.

Rebuild and also most important DO not log into important things from this computer if known to have some form of virus.  Reevulate what site's and downloads you have done so it does not happen again.  Install a virus protection.

If you had a wallet file on that computer create a new wallet on another computer and send coins to it.  MAKE SURE that computer does not have the same software you talk about on miner.
14028  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: I like doing bitcoin trading to earn money on: July 11, 2014, 01:29:45 PM
Day trading has close to 100% failure rate.

I would not say 100 percent.  Make informed decisions, and most of all don't go all in to one coin.   And keep some in BTC and well known Scrypt coins.   There is great profit to be had on alt coins but don't just throw money at it and assume instant profit.  And do it slow learn and don't just jump in with all your coins at once.
14029  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: USB Miners on: July 11, 2014, 01:24:54 PM
I've heard that USB miners aren't really useful for mining anymore but I really want to experience what mining is like, even if I'm not really getting anything more than a few satoshis. With them being pretty outdated I was wondering if anyone had one or two left over from when they actually were useful, that would be willing to send them to me. I could probably pay for shipping if need be. I understand that even the cost of the electric needed to use it, is more than I will get out f it, but it is nothing something I will be doing long. Like I said, kinda just want the experience.
Thank you all in advance.

Most miners out on ebay are obselete in profitability.

Dont forget the power costs when mining.

Good to play with if you want to mine for a little project.  But USB's stick miners are pretty much not for profit.

is any miner really for profit? Cheesy
Not much, you have to invest a lot and have cheap electrical cost. Mining is really all for big miners now, small miners are already out of the game.

I still say yes for ME personally.  I have lower priced KWH.  I had to do somethings to make it profitable again, sold and shutdown my many GPU rigs.  Parted them out. The heat and low earnings did make those where I just could not do it anymore at level I was doing.

Moved onto next generations.   I feel good about my mining operation.  And there are some good hosting options out there for those not able to have miners at home.   But I also love mining.  I think there is a good mixture with both mining and trading.  I know some will say buy and sit on it for years and profit.   But so far mining has been good to me.  The only secret is buy a quality machine, no pre-order, and have a decent power price or hosting option.   And at the end of profitability sell the miner don't put it on a shelf.

V2 needs to have it in the smuggler hatch.  Han Solo and Wookie would never be caught with their load!

On side note thanks for smile love the fun mod.
14031  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: H61 Pro BTC - Cannot run more than 4 cards on: July 11, 2014, 07:42:26 AM
Basically, I can plug any combination of 4 cards among the 6 I have and everytime, I look into the Device Manager, two of them have an exclamation point next to it.

How can I fix it?

Thanks

The board was over-hyped.  Most i ever got was 5 cards.  Granted I didn't spend a ton of time since i wanted to get up and running and used a 2nd board. Back when I was GPU mining.

You can contact their support.... but if they talk to you as they did me it was laughable.

Syncing your wallet, especially if new can take a while depending on internet speed.

14034  Economy / Services / Re: [Lee group] Miner Rentals V2.0 - Dragon 1T Bitcoin Miner-Round 2 coming! on: July 11, 2014, 06:57:46 AM
Are sales for rental now open?

I appolgize for it taking so long.  Currently they are not.  There have been delay's on rental's.  I have a post above yours explaining it in more detail. Once we do have it all set up i will change thread to "Open" in it.
14035  Economy / Services / Re: [Lee group] Miner Rentals V2.0 - Dragon 1T Bitcoin Miner-Round 2 very soon! on: July 11, 2014, 06:44:01 AM
Slight delay on images.  Hopefully tonight they will be completed.

As soon as they are on the machines they will be ready to be rented!

Do you know what this new image fixes or does above standard firmware currently on the miners?

The images are custom for these miner's at the data center.  Good news is images are made needs a few final touches on rental image but is pretty much done.

I appolgize it's talking longer then expected.  Currently Engineers have been busy setting up hosted miners with recent new lower price: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=514758.msg7731937#msg7731937

This is why I do not presale rentals as customer's hosted rigs get set up before Mr. Lee's personal rigs are set up which are what we use for rental's.  Customer's are valued and sales will not open till up till Mr. Lee's personal rigs and are set up and ready for rentals.

Rentals will be coming in the future and I appolgize for delay.  The good news is the professional data center in taizhou is working great, and has been handling miners very well.  It is top notch hosting facility.

Bump for the fellow fish out there in the ocean of miner's.  Also check out new hosting price for a professionally hosted dragons at: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=514758.0

Also with later firmware and software the restart batch was not needed in my case.  With these fish it does seem to vary depending on cooling environment.
I have 5 S1's

5 S1s will pull almost 2000 watts.   A residential 115V 15A circuit will only handle about 1400 watts.  Even a 20A circuit will only run 1900 watts.

If you want to run all 5 on the same circuit, you should consider having a 220V 20A circuit installed which will make the PSUs run more efficiently or you can spread the units across multiple circuits in your house

I would definetly do as Bbeesley suggests. I ran 2 20A Dedicated outlets into my office for the mining pool I have as I had the same problem with 2 miners & 3 PCs in my office.

It took the electrician ~2h to run the line from the 1st Story Panel box to 2nd Story and i had to buy ~$80 worth of supplies. All in it cost about $300 to get the outlets in and help prevent a fire Smiley

Wow american houses are wired cheap. Uk standards is 240v at 13a most houses have atleast 4 circuits downstairs sockets. Upstairs sockets. Downstairs lights. Upstairs lights.
Wiring all depends.  You can get more volts, but most don't do it.  Most devices here don't require it.  But sadly us miners use more watts then average person.  The good thing though is cheap electricity prices depending on where you live Smiley .09-.1 kwh here.
14038  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: USB Miners on: July 11, 2014, 12:44:27 AM
Hey peeps,

there was this test by a few journalists from a magazine in Germany, who managed to buy a few different ASIC miners including a usb miner. So they tried the miners for a month or so and summarized their earnings. The funny thing is that only the usb miners gave ROI, even a bit of profit.

Bear in mind that the article is from late 2013 and the btc difficulty has increased exponentially since then, which means that there is pretty much no chance of ROI, not to speak about any profit what so ever.

If somebody is interested I could tell you the article and the magazine, just answer to this thread.

you should of provided the article right away
come on now, post it

I'm guessing article is very old considering what it is comparing. As of now there is not a "thumb drive" usb miner that is not a for fun use.
14039  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Vanity addresses? on: July 11, 2014, 12:41:54 AM
If you are unsure of the security/source i would suggest using it for fun but not as main wallet.   Might even split coins between multiple wallets.

Personally I would generate it myself.  But there are some sites that are known as reputable.

The new professional data center in Taizhou is working great.  With testing 6 miners I am getting "3-hour average hash rate of 6,000.58 Gh/s " on eligius.
