KYC is useless. You can buy id on black market. So there is no problem for scammers. Problems with KYC will be created only for honest people, since not everyone wants to send their data to the Internet

Its not useless if you want to fully report and pay tax it is fine.

If you want to be 100% off the books 📚 then it is a struggle to use the coins as

basically most if not all  online kyc gets hacked sooner or later.

the incentive to hack is too great.  major companies that maintain security are hacked every year.
14062  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: It is 2020 time for a new diff thread. on: May 13, 2020, 01:15:47 AM
They are all in an overly optimistic la la land as buying gear at current prices only makes sense with free power.

If you have free power you can still buy s9's as they are cheap enough. 14 th with free power earns about 1 dollar a day.  So in 90 days you have 90 bucks.

the s9 for under 100 with a power supply  is easy to do now.

the t17+ is 950 or so and makes 4.30 a day so in 90 days you have  387 which is no where near 950

the s19pro in china is around 2300 it makes. 8.14 a day in 90 days it is 732. which does not touch 2300 or even 2000.  and this is if you have free power.

buying gear at these prices is senseless even if you have free power.

BCH and BSV. are between 7.2 and 7.4 cents a th so they are not picking up the slack for BTC.
14063  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [∞ YH] solo.ckpool.org 2% fee solo mining 255 blocks solved! on: May 12, 2020, 10:41:43 PM
Thanks. I can see the transaction appear in my wallet already.

Just for grins I prioritised it at the solo pool. If by some miracle we find a block before it gets confirmed, the pool itself will be guaranteed to be the one to mine the transaction

Code:
2020-05-12T22:36:24.141916Z PrioritiseTransaction: 6826fc41bd009649a5ac69bc43a266522c496f8802d40ca21418691408a5b5f7 feerate += 1.00

hey do it for this one also

its in the rainy day fund and fee was too low      viabtc won't let me accelerate it.

I remember the old days on this pool the  blocks were worth 25 coins and a coin was only 150, 200 bucks .
14064  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [∞ YH] solo.ckpool.org 2% fee solo mining 255 blocks solved! on: May 12, 2020, 10:34:27 PM
Thanks guys, I'm really touched by your contributions. This is the community side that got me here in the first place, before the asic era turned everything to shit.

Phil has the correct address above. Just confirming 3GxjTZeFeQ6Yo8hRPpTyYKXs4RAj6x97Bt is where I'd like the funds to go.

just paid a huge fee amazing 60 sats

so with this wallet they move the left over coins out of original address

https://btc1.trezor.io/address/1F8JWHPVt2FzxeAyPDUP4hmeRPweJZEFYj

has 0.01 in donations. fee sent was really small this may never clear  we will see

and this address https://btc1.trezor.io/address/17JgeZrjHtzF944FGmT1nZnXZN7so7YUFp

has 0.0093615

the wallet shows the balance as 0.0193615

see screen shot

Note :

we would still want to get some more coin over time.  the rainy day fund is 0.0193615

so if you want you can put a bit more in over the next few days, or weeks ,or even months.

this will be the address to fund :

pm sent here is a copy.  it is my pm sent so I can show it here.

Hi

-ck we have 0.09 btc to send for server fees for six months.

Note that if you do not find a block, you get no reward at all with solo mining.
2% goes to 1PKN98VN2z5gwSGZvGKS2bj8aADZBkyhkZ to operate the pool and contribute to further ckpool code development.

Would like to send you the coin do you want the address above.

The coin is in a trezor legacy wallet so will the address above be good for you.

Note I will also put a copy of this in the main thread.

waiting on a reply.

-ck has ask for funds to go to

3GxjTZeFeQ6Yo8hRPpTyYKXs4RAj6x97Bt

I will post asap with transaction.   damn fees are really high.
14066  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [∞ YH] solo.ckpool.org 2% fee solo mining 255 blocks solved! on: May 12, 2020, 07:29:50 PM
we have .11 collected

I am looking to send 0.09 to ck to cover six months of server costs.

we have to wait for confirms of the coins.
we have to wait for ck to confirm I have correct address to send him the .09

we will have a small amount in rainy day fund.  0.11- 0.09 = 0.02 less fees to send

So we should be good for six months of server paid for.

hoping to get to      0.20
send in ck              0.09
leaves        us        0.11
give 0.01 to block loser

gives us 0.10 rainy day fund

will hold it and if zero issues happen in six months
will pay it for six more months of server fees.
if a disaster screw up happens will give 0.05 to  the lost block miner.

an orphan is not a lost block
a stale is not a lost block

if we are exceptionally lucky  the rainy day fund moons 5 to 10x  and we can consider giving it back to listed donors.

Looks pretty sure that we are going to do 6 months of server fees for sure.
with some coin left over.

I do not want to collect more then .2 btc
so far we have collected .11 btc

Note these are pool maintenance  server fees
and a rainy day fund

you as a miner will be responsible for renting or pointing your gear here at your own cost.

if somehow a block is bungled and lost the most you could get is some of the rainy day coin. that is it.

no more than that.

Note I am not taking any thing to run this funding.

lastly if trezor turns into a scam and the collect funds are lost by trezor (huge hack yada yada yada)

oh well for us all.

thank you

How it works:

ckpool automatically takes your bitcoin address and gives you a unique stratum connection mining to your own address.
If you find a block, 98% of the block reward + transaction fees get generated directly at your bitcoin address!
There is no need to worry about passwords, logins, withdrawals, authentication or pool wallet hacks.
You remain anonymous apart from your btc address.
All you need to confirm you are mining to your own address is to examine the coinbase and template sent to you over stratum.
Note that if you do not find a block, you get no reward at all with solo mining.
2% goes to 1PKN98VN2z5gwSGZvGKS2bj8aADZBkyhkZ to operate the pool and contribute to further ckpool code development.

once mikeywith clears we are at 0.08 almost enough to cover 6 months.

if we  a grand  collect 0.18 or more by todays end

I will toss in 0.01 more.  I will send it to the person that missed the block.

We will send 0.10 to ck
we will hold  0.08  or more for  rainy day fund.

ideally coins go up more and we use only 0.04 to pay the next 6 months in nov/dec

and never have to fund a "bad" block issue .

14072  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: ckpool.org CLOSED on: May 12, 2020, 02:55:27 PM
A novice question; How do I rescue my profits from the pool?. Because I see how from 0.00023000 they have dropped to 0.00013000, doing nothing.

Or should I give up the more than 4 months that I was mining in ckpool.

Thanks for being there.

you have learned an inexpensive lesson of small pool mining risk.

the pool takes too long to hit a block and folds.

all funds due are due on next block.

pool folded no new blocks.

I was due 0.026 btc when pool folded.

I effort to support small pools.

i support solo.ckpool
i support mmpool.org

this pool had my support it folded.
jonny bravo pool had my support it folded.

i have supported kano.is
i have supported bitminter

i can’t fully support these pools as my pockets are not than deep.

i only have 1.4 ph which allows me to toss some coins at smaller pools. but not the full support they need.

my thoughts are a pool needs to hit 15 blocks a month to survive.

most of these pools don’t do it.  they dont have 300 or  400ph of hash.

There seems to be a lot of traffic on Bitmain/Whatsminer. I wonder if they are selling or people just checking the pricing

breath deep relax.  wait just a bit.

are you 6 k in cash 💰?

if you are all cash 💵 consider holding some in coin.

Recently setup a full node and it wasn't as challenging as I expected. I am wondering what is stopping more people from spinning up their own full nodes?

For me it seems not as many people care about the network, as they do about the price. I am wondering what you guys think, is this due to people not being aware of how important nodes are? Or due to the "technical" challenges they may face?

Zero rewards stops most of us.

I have run them on and off.
They drain resources and eventually I grow tired of running them.
I should do one again as I am flush on pc's and have the resources in place.

I agree with Mikeywith. When i bought my t9+ it was still profitable but had a bad chain. They absolutely refuse to send you parts out of warranty and it would have doubled the purchase price of the miner to have them repair it.

Bitmain repair has always seemed like a shit service to me from the start. I must say I am shocked they didn't just raise their price for repair to an absurd amount so that most people wouldn't bother and they could still be greedy and grab every satoshi. Odds are they just don't have or want to stock parts for these models.

if i buy a lot of some gear. i often order spare parts.

i have s15 psu, s17 psu ,a few spare controllers.
