If you die without giving the keys to anyone, the value of your stash will be distributed among all existing Bitcoiners...
I know that, mate.

Either you hold your coins and you lose your coins, you're still give contribution to the community. But it doesn't make sense to just lost all of your coins when you have a choice to take a risk and save all of your coins even it's not belong for you anymore.

As a dad, supporting my children financial is better, so they wouldn't need to become poor and has more chance to be successful since they have enough money.

Regarding ColdKey, the project may look cool and satisfy some coiners' egos or whatever, but from the very beginning it was an idea based on trusting the creator, which is an instant no-no when it comes to Bitcoin. I personally would not trust my keys to anyone (not even my parents or siblings or GF/wife or whoever else). Not because I don't love them or trust them in the general sense. But it is a fact that all of us are human beings and are thus prone to mistakes and weaknesses, which can lead to compromising the security of whatever it is we want to protect.

When it comes to Bitcoin, you keep a low profile, NEVER reveal your keys to ANYONE, never advertise specific amounts or even ownership of any coins, never brag about how rich you are, and never compromise your OPSEC.

There's no need for ColdKeys. The best ColdKey is stored in our neurons, and should stay in there, and stay immaterial. Just like Bitcoin.
I agree with everything you've wrote, but I disagree if you wouldn't trust anyone with your keys because we're humans, we're not eternal in this world and we don't know when we left this world.

I don't think you would abandon all of your money you've make until right now, there's must be someone need to take over your Bitcoin and continue your journey to hold it.

At least your child need to know your keys, of course after they're matured, know about Bitcoin and already understand about money management.
1424  Economy / Economics / Re: Twitter could launch in-app ‘coins’ to help creators make money on: January 12, 2023, 03:04:19 PM
I don't think it will be easy as we think because anyone will do anything to abuse the system.

Paid based on number of words? it will abused by ChatGPT.
Paid based on how much the likes/tweet/share? it will abused by multiple accounts bot.
Paid based on the quality post including meme? I don't think the team behind twitter will want to spend their whole time to read their member's post.

It's still proposal though, similar like Facebook where they want to create their own coins since 2018 and now there's no progress about it.
1425  Other / Meta / Re: Forum ranks/positions/badges (What do those shiny coins under my name mean?) on: January 12, 2023, 02:56:24 PM

1426  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin and its trading on exchanges. on: January 12, 2023, 02:52:46 PM
Every countries has their own regulation, there's a country declare Bitcoin is illegal, there's a country doesn't declare anything and not strict the usage aka grey area, there's a country which accept Bitcoin as commodity and there's a country accept Bitcoin as legal tender.

Most of big exchanges has follow regulation and has a license, although it's not came from SEC instead of the local country where the exchange operated. I don't think they will ban the whole exchanges which doesn't regulated by SEC, if it's happen it will cause a lot panic since many people think Bitcoin can't be traded anymore. The reason they're panic is, they're leave their coins on the exchanges.

1429  Economy / Reputation / Re: My ignore list and my feedbacks and is Poker Player acceptable? on: January 12, 2023, 02:29:23 PM
Although you've got negative feedback because they're think you've mismanage your old project e.g. bitlucy and casino critique, but I think you're already in good track since you've manage a lot campaigns and you're not scam any users. I don't see any intention if Royse777 could cause a financial losses due to his act for being honest as possible.

But only Poker Player can change his mind to revise the feedback, I hope there's will be a solution soon.
1430  Other / Meta / Re: Bitcointalk on the phone? on: January 12, 2023, 02:10:58 PM
There's no reason for me to access this forum using phone because it's not friendly, hard to quote anyone posts and doesn't comfortable to write due to small keyboard.

Access this forum using device also not good for my privacy and security, anyone shouldn't use public internet connection or access this forum in near of your friend or stranger, they might know this forum and recognize you're a Bitcoin holder.
1431  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: My first taste of Bitcoin. on: January 12, 2023, 02:01:33 PM
There's many ways to learn about Bitcoin, you just need to choose which one you're interested.

You can learn Bitcoin through video https://www.youtube.com/@aantonop
You can learn Bitcoin through books https://aantonop.com/books/iom/
You can learn Bitcoin through articles https://coindesk.com/learn

IMO it's better for you to learn the difference between Bitcoin and fiat first, when you're already know the reason, you wouldn't regret to invest in Bitcoin.
1432  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are you still holding your coins #btc on: January 12, 2023, 01:55:36 PM
I still holding my coins and keep accumulating until the next bull run maybe at 2024-2025, after that I might sell half of my coins and then wait until bear market happen and then keep repeat it. Bitcoin is still become the most unique currency and there's nothing can replace Bitcoin for short time, so I expect the future will be on Bitcoin side regardless governments ban or not.
1433  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Football Transfers Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: January 12, 2023, 11:20:37 AM
Today football's rumor transfers:

Goncalo Ramos to Manchester United
Jorginho to Napoli
Marcus Thuram to Chelsea
Matteo Guendouzi to Aston Villa
Formose Mendy to West Ham
Vincent Aboubakar to Besiktas

Only Aboubakar rumor is seems high likely will come true while the other the probability is still unknown which mean they might be interested with the other clubs.

1434  Other / Meta / Re: Cybersecurity subforum on: January 12, 2023, 05:18:50 AM
1- there have to be sufficient number of threads about this topic in other boards to the point where that board is full of those kind of threads,
I've collected a list about cyber security that the moderators often move the topic to off-topic board. I think those threads are deserve to be placed in new board either cybersecurity or hardware and software security, it's really bad to be placed in off-topic board where it's full of non sense thread like what's the best music, how to live longer, do you have pet etc.

1. Password managers or passwords from memory
2. Bitcoin and Antiviruses
3. Computer and Phone Security Questions
4. How to detect fraudulent websites.
5. I think google is spying on us ,when our phones are in the room
6. The best note taking apps for Windows?
7. LastPass - Notice of Recent Security Incident
8. Recommended 2FA app for Windows
9. What do you use for generating strong passwords?
10. Is my iPhone hacked?
11. Hackers exploit critical VMware flaw to drop ransomware & miners
12. What about a smartphone keyboard
13. Are they set a broker in my pc and stealing my data ?
14. [Warning]: Password Manager LassPass has been breached, accessed customer data
15. Probably a childish question
16. Privacy frontends for popular services (yt, reddit, twitter, fb, insta, etc)
17. I Always Use 12 to 20 Characters Long Password 🔑 For my accounts
18. Do not rely on your OS security
19. Hackers stolen Last Pass users passwords and sensitivw information
20. Copy link to clipboard - Nifty app for android
21. Passwords - 8 characters at least, lower, upper, number, symbol

Sometime I think rather than this topic get moved to off-topic board, why it's not moved to serious discussion board?

To be honest there's many threads in serious discussion board are full of non sense thread and many people doesn't care with it since the signature isn't visible, so the board get less traffic.

Rather than serious discussion almost get abandoned, I would say it's better for the administrators too enable signature space on that's board, so it will increase the traffic and moderators can just increase the minimum quality or strict rules just like Bitcoin technical discussion board.

1436  Other / Meta / Re: Looking for forum customer support [moderator/admin] on: January 11, 2023, 01:15:38 PM
Although I'm not a moderator nor admin, but I think maybe it's because you're asking graphic designers to join your contest while you've quoted their name on your post.

I think they're aware with the contest but they just choose not to join it.
1437  Other / Meta / Re: Turn off warn for new replies made while posting on: January 09, 2023, 04:46:20 AM
Thanks @OP I'm not aware if this forum has such feature, also hide user's avatar and signature too.

For me, turn off the new replies isn't good because posting in this forum isn't a competition to create the fastest post, you're need to create a high quality post and if there's user who beat you above, it mean you need to review his post and if he wrote something wrong, you can correct it.

I think if there's above member who have same opinion with your post, you're shouldn't to post it since it just make spam in this forum.

And now those who do bounties. they know that the bounties are limited which makes it a barrier to post POA quickly. so this will be very important for them.
Does "first come first serve" is a culture in bounties? it's really bad since it just proving the manager don't care with the user's quality post and other thing before choosing him to promote the project.
1438  Other / Meta / Re: My contribution to a near-perfect Merit-based ranking system for Bitcointalk on: January 08, 2023, 01:53:59 PM
I don't know how you think that not knowing merit transactions is good for the forum or anyone else.
Because when you get merited by X, it will increase the possibility you merit him back even though his post is just common sense or have same point with the other user. I don't think I'm wrong with this, anyone can easily spot it.

Quote
If the forum does not have the option to see merit transactions then 5alts accounts can share merit from each other's accounts and continue doing that abuse until theymos or any mod detects the abuse.
That's why I said it's need a decision from administrators or mods, but I don't think they will want to handle that because "scam" didn't even get moderated in this forum.
1439  Other / Meta / Re: My contribution to a near-perfect Merit-based ranking system for Bitcointalk on: January 07, 2023, 12:45:12 PM
@OP although it's better if we don't know which user send his own sMerit and people also doesn't know which one send him merit, but it will increase of abusing merit.

Example: you have 5 accounts and then you share sMerit with your each alts, does anyone know if you're abusing the merit system? No. Only theymos and Cyrus might know since they're an administrators.

It will increase the administrators work, so I don't think they will keep watching and moderating the merit flows between each account.

Having just a thumb up 👍 and thumb down 👎 on every post box could be very productive.

I currently only have 2 merits and read at least 50 posts every day, with about 10 of them being merit worthy. However, when I don't have any merits to give, I simply move on.
It doesn't make sense to have thumb up and merit in the same time, someone need to click thumb up and giving merit which is double work for merit sources.

If you mean thumb up is merit and thumb down is demerit, there's few people have made proposal about it, but it seems really hard to implemented, abused etc.

If you see a good post and don't have any sMerit just create report in this thread https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5093271.0
1440  Other / Meta / Re: Bitcointalk Rewind 2022 on: January 05, 2023, 12:57:47 PM
I was going to make this thread but you beat me to it. Well done OP. I added some threads to ones you already listed and tried my best to arrange them in a tabular form. This is not the best table but I hope you can improve on it.
Thank you very much, I've add, delete and do some modify on the BBCode Smiley

Lol I don't expect any user will create such kind thread to be honest since there's no rewind 2021, 2020 and older.

I think this part should be rewritten. You now make it sounds as if it's a good site to use. It's not: they have a valid Newbie warning Flag and negative feedback for the fact that they lied several times about their "investigation" in their scam accusation topic.

For the rest: nice summary Smiley
Thanks for your input, it's done Wink

What about the table? I think it's better than previous  Grin
