1421  Local / India / Re: Indian crypto exchanges under regulations of RBI on: September 22, 2023, 12:23:11 PM

1.Setting up advanced Know Your Customer (KYC) for crypto companies, which covers the Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act and existing Anti-Money Laundering standards.

What does advanced Know Your Customer means, will they now come to our house and do manual verification?

2.Crypto platforms would be required to release proof-of-reserve audits on a real-time basis to regulators.

That would determine how much liquidity an Indian exchange has and it would create awareness & increase trust among users.

3.A uniform taxation policy across the nations.

I am not sure if a uniform taxation policy would get a consensus. A lot of cryptocurrency communities are based in third-world countries. I do not think it will be approved.

4.Crypto exchanges could gain the same status as authorized dealers (similar to banks) under the guidelines of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI).

I am not sure it will happen and I think this is just a speculation. I think we would find major changes on this topic as there would be a lot of objections from the Indian crypto community. I think it is better to wait for an announcement from the government.

1422  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ICC WORLD CUP 2023 ACTUAL DISCUSSION THREAD! on: September 22, 2023, 11:58:11 AM
Looks like today is MD Shamis day in the ongoing match. He has taken 4 wickets and is bowling his last over. I felt he can get 5 wickets today, which he did in his last over. India has maintained the pressure on the Australian batters, a few disappointment on the field as an important catch of Warner was dropped. The target for India should be below 280 runs which is actually good to chase on Mohali pitch. I feel the Indian batters would be able to chase this target as Mohali has been always a high scoring pitch.
1423  Economy / Gambling / Re: 🎰 BITRUBY.IO 🚀 - The Future of Crypto Gaming 💰 Double Your Deposit Up to 200% on: September 21, 2023, 12:55:53 PM
Hello and Welcome to the forum.

It is always nice to see a new Casino coming here and introducing itself. I did visit your casino and my first impression was that it looks good. The user interface is simple to understand, maybe because you do not have a big list of games now. I hope to see more games in the future and I do hope you are ready with some marketing plans for your casino here. I did not see any exclusive offer for the Bitcointalk community, except the 200% deposit bonus that you are offering. It would be an excellent idea for you to come up with some exclusive offers for us and I hope to see some soon.

Best of Luck Bitruby team.
1424  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ODI cricket and general cricketing discussion [self - mod] on: September 21, 2023, 12:22:50 PM
The match is still ongoing and it seems Bangladesh has a good chance of winning if they can take a few more wickets in next overs.
Yeah. They need to keep taking wickets at regular intervals in order to restrict NZ under 200 which is a losing total. Rahman is the only one who bowled well so far while the NZ batsmen are playing well currently.

Expected Williamson to return in this match, but it seems that he is trying hard to be fit before the showpiece event.

The match is looking good, Bangladesh is dominating the match with excellent bowling. The current run rate is below 5 but one big partnership can change the game completely. If Bangladesh wants to win the match then they would need to restrict the New Zealand side under 250 runs. The way they are playing now it looks like they might be able to do that. Mustafizur Rahman has taken 3 wickets and after this over he would be left with only three overs. I think after he completes this spell, NZ would start forming a partnership as he is the only bowler looking good now.

1425  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Repayment Deadline Increased for the MT Gox Exchange’s Creditors on: September 21, 2023, 11:38:50 AM
1 year is still a big deadline, they might start from the end of the year, but there is nothing confirmed. There are 24000 creditors who have been patiently waiting and now again they have to wait. I do not think this news would influence the existing market. The market is still going sideways and I do not think we will think any changes would happen. We cannot ascertain now how the market would react when they will pay what they promised. Bitcoin halving will happen next year, at the moment it is likely to happen by March. There would be a six-month gap in between to complete it, the bull market should start by that time.
1426  Economy / Gambling / Re: ✨ Shuffle.com | The next generation of crypto casinos | Sports, Casino + token on: September 21, 2023, 09:52:18 AM
What I found interesting and unique is when you get a welcome note after registering to Shuffle. I am not sure whether any other casino on Bitcointalk welcomes new users with a welcome note. Like BitDane said I was not aware of the promotion offer of $5 to try the casino. I have not tried the games on the platform for now, I did find out that you can play games with Dodge coin and TRX. I am planning to use either of them to test the platform as soon as I can.
1427  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Seed Phrase in Electum on: September 21, 2023, 09:24:11 AM
Electrum wallet is available for both Android and iOS mobile devices.
Take note that Electrum wallet does not have an iOS mobile version. On mobile Electrum is only available on Android, however the Android version of Electrum lacks so many features like, signing a message, coin control, customizing fees, etc, Electrum is much better to use on desktop.

That is correct they do not have an iOS mobile version, thanks for correcting me. I recently downloaded the current version on my Android device and you are again correct many features are missing. I did not like the new user interface of the current version, I think they with this new version their focus is more on LN. it is obvious with the new QR code scan screen whenever you want to send some coins.

If you have the same keys in two different wallets, with just uninstalling one of them, you don't really increase your security.
OP has generated the seed phrase using HODL wallet. Even if he/she uninstalls HODL wallet and only uses electrum, nothing would change as he/she would still have the same seed phrase.
It's better to create a new wallet and move all the fund to that.

Of course, since we are talking about a wallet which holds only $25 worth of bitcoin, there's nothing to worry about.

Thanks for the update, I was a bit confused, that is why I quoted your reply. Now everything is clear to me and hopefully, it will be for OP.
1428  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Seed Phrase in Electum on: September 21, 2023, 08:52:45 AM
I guess I don't understand.
With having the same keys in mutliple wallets, you decrease your security as you increase the risk of getting hacked. In other words, the more wallets you import your keys in, the more attack vectors you open for hackers. That's why it's recommended to have your keys in only one wallet and avoid creating multiple wallets with the same keys.

It is better to uninstall Hodl wallet and only use the Electrum wallet on your Mac. If you keep using both the wallets with the same seed phrases the security of both the wallets can be compromised. Electrum wallet is available for both Android and iOS mobile devices. You can download the one you need, use the same seed phrase to activate the same wallet on you mobile device. In this way you don't compromise the security.
1429  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: BitcoinSnack.com Help needed for Bitcoin Vending Machine on: September 20, 2023, 12:07:36 PM
I love your vision of a global adoption but it sounds vague to me. Just putting the Bitcoin logo on a vending machine does not impress me. Asking for a donation of $1 or $10 makes me question your integrity. I do not think you are actually looking for investment in your project. I believe you are trying to scam people by using the word donation. I might be wrong too, that is why I would like advice to first come up with a prototype of your concept and then look for investors.
1430  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: El Salvador has become the first country to make #Bitcoin legal tender! 🇸🇻 on: September 20, 2023, 10:58:23 AM
El Salvador wants YOU to come build #Bitcoin    Country!

There are many reasons why you should make the move to El Salvador, here are just some of them:

Source link

The last point which is about regulation and clarity is something basic that everyone is asking from their country. Where government of every country are still scratching their heads on regulation. El Salvador is the only country to come up with it as they made Bitcoin a legal tender. Struggling economies of the globe should take this opportunity to adopt Bitcoin.

I recently came across a news that in Lebanon people are using USD as the currency to determine the price of any good. The reason being the depreciating value of Lira and the high volatility. Rather adopting USD they could have declared Bitcoin as another legal tender and followed the footsteps of El Salvador.
1431  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will Elon Musk keep what he said or not? on: September 20, 2023, 10:43:37 AM
Is he still the CEO of Tesla? I don't think that he is anymore so I don't hold out much hope that they would be accepting bitcoin for purchases but maybe there's a possibility that they will since Tesla has their bitcoins so I am sure they want to make some profit out of that. Cybertruck hype isn't that big anymore, and in terms of how futuristic it looks, I disagree that's a futuristic aesthetics, if you've seen the game Cyberpunk, you would agree.

Yes, Elon Musk is still the CEO of Tesla, SpaceX and X (Twitter). I feel he is again trying to manipulate the Bitcoin price, which means he is trying to manipulate the market. If he starts accepting Bitcoin then we can expect a Bull run of some sort before the halving. If he is bluffing then the market will remain the same till halving and then we could see Bitcoin price going in upward direction. I stopped following his sudden burst on Twitter after he started promoting shit coins.
1432  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum, Android version! on: September 20, 2023, 09:50:40 AM
so when I entered my seed this time I was waiting for the next button to be activated and it didn't, so I assumed mobile wallet operates differently, hence my confusion of encrypting wallet and extended seed word.
Whether it's the desktop version or the mobile version, if your seed phrase is correct, you should be able to import your wallet.
Both mobile version and desktop version should generate the same addresses.

I just now uninstalled and reinstalled the mobile wallet on my Android phone. Followed all the steps and entered the seed word unfortunately, I did face the same issue. When I rechecked my seed phrases I found that I had entered one wrong. Corrected it and the Next link got activated.

OP is entering the wrong seed phrase, that is the reason the Next link is not getting activated. I won't blame OP for entering the seed phrases wrong as the UI of the current mobile version 4.4.6 is not that good. The wallet allows users to enter the seed words using its built-in keyboard. The keyboard is very small and sometimes user may enter the wrong alphabet without realizing it.

1433  Local / India / Re: ZebPay Teams Up with Brave to Offer Rewards Program to Users in India on: September 20, 2023, 09:15:31 AM
This is good news! Someone has to be a partner for Brave in India. A lot of Indian content creators did register to the rewards. They are slowly capturing the Indian market with their fast and ad-free internet browsers. I have used it in the past, later on I shifted to Safari browser. They do give BAT tokens to their users monthly which can be redeemed. I never did as it requires you to pass KYC. It will be easy now to withdraw those token using zebpay.
1434  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Cricket Asia Cup 2023! Which team will WIN? on: September 19, 2023, 12:15:51 PM

That performance cannot be called poor. The best word to describe Srilanka's performance in the final is pathetic. They created that pitch on which MD Shiraz took 6 wickets, they did not understand the home conditions and were batting like amateurs. Their under-19 team would have played better than the national team.

Wasim Akram would not have given the same statement if India had lost. Pakistan is unable to digest how they were thrashed by Srilanka first and then how India thrashed Srilanka in the final. Such statements have been constantly bombarded by Pakistani excricketers and it does not matter to anyone in India or the Indian players. Already there has been a catfight between Pakistani players in the dressing room as per Pakistani media. If a team cannot work like a team and has to fight within themselves, do you expect them to win matches?

@pakhittheboss I felt that Srilankan player’s let themselves down by taking on too much pressure and I’m shocked that Wasim said this considering he’s yet well received in the Indian cricket fraternity.

Furthermore Pakistan is definitely in a mess heading into the World Cup as there’s rumour of them changing their vice captain and they have already lost a key bowler hence I feel that they won’t do well in the upcoming World Cup. Lastly I hope that Wasim again doesn’t blame Pakistan poor performance due to the above mentioned reasons on some hidden arrangement between PCB and BCCI.

Strange I did not see Wasim Akram talking about a fix. If he did then he would be missed in the commentary box in the World Cup. What @pakhitheboss said is actually trues. If India had lost the finals then he would talked about the flaws in Indian team. I have seen in the past that it is not that easy for Pakistani ex-cricketer to believe India is dominating over their existing team. How can they as they were the ones in their time who dominated every India vs Pakistan match.

How bad things have become bad for Pakistan can be seen by the performance of the present team. Things are not looking good for Pakistan in the upcoming world cup.
1435  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ODI cricket and general cricketing discussion [self - mod] on: September 19, 2023, 11:07:10 AM
@Dimitri94 Pakistan have suffered a huge blow as Naseem is out injured and he won’t be available for the World Cup and now it’s important that none of their other bowler’s get injured otherwise they’ll have a weak bowling lineup heading into the tournament. Lastly when it comes to their batting they definitely don’t have any consistency but their batsmen have lot’s of talent and if they just stick to the basics then they can definitely score big or chase a target easily.

I don't think it's a huge blow as there are few other bowlers who can replace Naseem Shah. If you see Pakistan performance in the Asia Cup then its very much clear that they are not fully prepared for coming ODI WC. Babar Azam was completely clueless in this tournament both as a batsman and as a captain. With such preparation you cant win world cup while India looks more focused and prepared for the upcoming WC. This WC will also tell whether viewers have any interest left in ODI WC.

Naseem Shah was the only bowler who played well in the Asia Cup. Ofcourse Afridi cannot be forgotten but was not that good.  Who will now be bowling from the other end? Rauf  doesn't bowl with the new ball. They would need a good bowler who should be able to bowl like Naseem Shah. Zaman Khan was not that good against Srilanka, condition would be the same for the world cup too. I don't think he would be effective enough. This injury is big problem for Pakistan, then there have been reports of internal conflict. That would again hamper the performance of Pakistani players.
1436  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: UnionBank to offer Bitcoin trading on mobile app in Octomber on: September 19, 2023, 10:28:34 AM

Atleast provide the source for this news since this is not global but rather only for Philippines. You can use this https://cointelegraph.com/news/union-bank-of-the-philippines-launches-bitcoin-and-ethereum-trading as source so that your reader will have an idea about what you are talking about.

Unionbank is known as the pioneer bank that embrace crypto. They also offers different courses that related to blockchain. This news is long waited by Filipipino consumer that involves to Bitcoin since we can by directly using our UB account.

It's important to mention that only selected retail can use this feature since this is just on a pilot program. It's still a great news and thanks for sharing.

Does this news mean that cryptocurrency is now legal in the Philippines? I am sure that all banks in any country are governed and regulated by a central bank. In the Philippines Central Bank of the Philippines does that job. If a bank is now offering crypto service then it does look like they have got permission from the Central Bank.

This is a piece of good news for the crypto community. It makes life easier for those who are into crypto trading and also those who want to hold Bitcoin and other crypto for long-term gain.
1437  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Unconfirmed Transaction on: September 19, 2023, 09:56:07 AM
I see it has 17 confirmations and did not see it go through to the merchant. Coingate is the middleman here and I contacted there customer care and yet to hear back.

I understand in a traditional world I can dispute this and can get refund, will there be a similar solution here. I have doubts since its been sent to an address and coins deducted from my wallet.

17 confirmation means the money has gone and is with Coingate. They now need to check the transaction hash and they will find it. Since you mentioned that you have contacted them I am assuming you have already provided the details. I don't think there will be any issues pertaining to the missing transaction.

Not sure where the wallet files are exactly located in MAC, but I would imagine it should work if you just change the file's name from default_wallet to whatever you want. There is no need to add or edit any extension.

EDIT:

Quote
On Mac:

Open Finder

Go to folder (shift+cmd+G) and type ~/.electrum

You should find a wallet folder here which contains the wallet files. If you're scared you might corrupt the file (although I don't see how), just make sure your seedphrase is safe, or take a backup of your wallet first.

I followed what you quoted and it worked. The wallet name is now changed. Thanks for the help!
1440  Bitcoin / Electrum / Electrum help needed. on: September 18, 2023, 12:03:43 PM
This is a noob question! I downloaded the wallet on my Mac Book today, installed and then created a new wallet. While creating I saw that it showed me, Wallet = default_wallet. I did not understand earlier but later on I realized it meant wallet name. Now, that I have created a wallet, I would like to change this name. My question is how to do it? I do not see any option within the wallet that allows me to do it. I thought of changing the file extension but I concluded that it might corrupt the file.

What can I do now? Should I create a new wallet or can I still change the name?

Thanks.
