If possible, what would the benefits of this be?
1422  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: cgminer running on multiple machines - what do you use for an overall monitor? on: December 30, 2011, 12:37:11 AM
I'm working on a really simple html and javascript site that links up with "cgminer --api-listen"

For now, I am working on just getting it to connect to one miner, but as soon as it works, I'll add support for multiple hosts.
1423  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: NVidea opensources CUDA platform on: December 30, 2011, 12:33:30 AM
Maybe NVidia can run Litecoin miner faster than CPU?!
With some assembly code for it?!
Who will give it a try  Huh
scrypt is very GPU hostile.  I don't think nvidia's advantage in floating point math will help at all.
1424  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: Request for an RPC capable fork of cgminer (125/155 BTC pledged so far) on: December 30, 2011, 12:25:37 AM
Hi!

Guys, how much will cost to add support for Scrypt (Litecoin mining) to cgminer (maybe cgminer-cpuonly)?

 Of course, based on: https://github.com/pooler/cpuminer

 10 BTC?

So, with only one cgminer instance, we can find Bitcoin/Namecoin and Litecoin blocks!

But keeping the option to mine for Bitcoins using cgminer-cpuonly too, if user wish that...

Best!
Thiago
You should probably make a new thread for this since it has nothing to do with RPC.  My hopes for litecoin are low, but this would still be an interesting idea.

You would also likely need the CPU mining to be on a different pool, so this request will likely require more than just scrypt support.

It would be nice if the RPC had a "help" command that output available commands along with a short description of what they do just like bitcoind does.
1425  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: [contest] 2 BTC for suggesting a name of an overlay network on top of Bitcoin on: December 30, 2011, 12:15:35 AM
I'm not sure if the name should have anything to do with "electrum." At first I thought it should, but this proposal could be implemented by any exit node for thin clients.
1426  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: 5970 mining thread on: December 30, 2011, 12:11:50 AM
Does dropping the memory clock affect the overall hash rate either up or down?  In my own testing it seems to not affect it one way or the other, but I haven't been very scientific.
I haven't noticed any difference in hash rate with lower memory clocks.  I think a reduced memory clock can allow for a higher engine clock which can increase hash rates.

1428  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is ArsBitcoin Pool working for you? [Because I can't post anywhere else] on: December 29, 2011, 11:26:53 PM
Why are you still mining there? The server admin (burning toad) has stated that he barely maintains the pool anymore.
1429  Other / Meta / Re: signatures with marquee text on: December 29, 2011, 11:23:26 PM
I just disabled marquee board-wide. I don't see any use for it.
I wish it was removed from the HTML spec completely
1430  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: I want your hasing power! "Project #2" 110%-105% PPS! on: December 29, 2011, 11:12:55 PM
I haven't gotten paid in a while...

Any ETA on the frontend

EDIT: So somehow the email you sent me got sent to my spam folder.  I logged into the site and everything is 0s.  You made my account as "redemerald1" but my miner has been working on "redemerald."  I really hope that all my earned shares are not lost.  Any reason for the different username?

I'll be mining on another pool until you let me know whats up.
1431  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: 5970 mining thread on: December 29, 2011, 11:04:49 PM
I ran intensity 9 on one GPU and 7 on the other for a few weeks.  The one with 7 consistently had more accepted shares.  Anyone else try this?

Does anyone have any hard numbers about memclock energy savings?  I'm running 300 since that is the default bottom, but cgminer will let me go to 150.  I'll have to plug in my kill-o-watt and take some readings

Use -I 8 for 5xxx cards and -I 9 for 6xxx cards.  I believe that was the previous note in CGMiner.

Now it says: "NOTE: Running intensities above 9 with current hardware is likely to only
diminish return performance even if the hash rate might appear better. A good
starting baseline intensity to try on dedicated miners is 9. Higher values are
there to cope with future improvements in hardware."

Hm. I went back to running intensity 9 with memclocks down to 160.  I'm not sure if intensity 7 card doing better was just luck. since my hashrate went from 1071 to 1083.

purchasing a ticket without a credit card?  sounds like the type of suspicious activity to report to the authoritayz! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lolnRc1_3Hk
That video made me feel sick.

If I ever fly again (fuck the TSA/DHS/insert-alphabet-soup-here), using bitcoin would be awesome.

I used to get pulled over for full security scans all the time when I flew by myself as a kid.  Post 9/11 I've actually had an easier time at security lol.

I've just skimmed it so far, and sent to my friend to read.

I did notice that you make mention of PFLOPS.  Bitcoin uses 0 FLOPS.  All FLOP measurements are estimates.

should be something more like

I'd like to mention in this thread that Wikimedia NYC has started to accept bitcoin. At the time of writing they have 68 BTC, maybe a few of us can donate directly and prop it up to 100 BTC? There's probably no need to turn this into a full Bitcoin100 thing, unless we feel otherwise.
https://nyc.wikimedia.org/wiki/Donate

Awesome! 1 BTC sent.

I'll assume you meant that you sent 1 BTC to Wikimedia NYC and not the Bitcoin100 wallet.

If everyone reading this donated $5, our fundraiser would be over today.

As seen on many Wikipedia pages. It could easily read as follows:

If everyone reading this donated $5 with Bitcoin, thereby eliminating PayPal's 9% recognized fee for this size donation, our fundraiser would have been over yesterday.

The moment I break even on my mining investment, I will be much more willing to donate my coins and donate to this forum as well as to the bitcoin 100 as I think both are very helpful for the bitcoin community.
1436  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Hard Coded Peers? on: December 29, 2011, 10:28:46 AM
Oh I see. You are correct "known" is more accurate than "trusted" and should be used instead.
1437  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What people would you like to see on denominated bitcoin bills? on: December 29, 2011, 09:55:33 AM
We shouldn't put portraits on money. I recommend equations and functions related to the bitcoin algorithms.
I'm not against portaits, but I definitely agree with putting equations and functions on the money.  I especially like the phrase "In Crypto We Trust"

An actual mirror. It's people's currency, after all.
I like this too

4) Comedy is what I live for. Without it, I'd have no energy to do any of this crap. I'll be channeling towards seperate skits instead of main features though to ensure that my particular tastes don't interfere with accessibility.
I think the shampoo at the end would have definitely turned my mom off to the video.  Comedy is great though.  Separation sounds good to me.

9) yesterday in the shower I came up with an idea and three verses to a Silk Road nerd gangra rap song. Would anyone be interested in seeing this produced into a music video?
Why are you asking such questions? OF COURSE WE ARE.
1439  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: [proposal] Overlay network protocol over Bitcoin on: December 29, 2011, 09:32:40 AM
Lets stay on topic guys.

We need to make sure that there is little to no trust between the client and server.  As well as come up with ways to mitigate attacks from a malicious server. If we find attacks, we need to figure out what damage they have.

What happens if the server resolves firstbits to a matching, but not "first" address? (Bad news I think)

What happens if the server withholds a transaction either from the client or from the network?

What happens if the server (or the person controlling the server) double spends against their client?

How should we handle server selection? Talk to multiple servers at once? Round-robin requests?  Only talk to "trusted" servers?  I think this might depend on the request.

How should we handle two (or more) servers giving the client different information?

Should SSL be mandatory to prevent MITM attacks? Can we build the protocol so a MITM cannot do any damage?
1440  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: CGMINER miner overclock monitor fanspeed RPC in C linux/windows/osx 2.1.0 on: December 29, 2011, 08:37:19 AM
Uggh, Alright, Im in, I'll use the epic CGminer without a GUI.

It's just such a pain in the ass to learn a new dictionary of commandlines
is thier a lovely noobfriendly guide? Or is it simple enough to figure out with the info provided on the front page
i need to read more
cgminer's command line was way easier for me to pickup than some of the other miners I tried.  You can also build the config completely inside the miner and not worry about flags. I highly recommend using a config over starting cgminer with a ton of flags.
"Q: GUI version?
A: No. The RPC interface makes it possible for someone else to write one
though."

Yeaaahhhh thats where im going to need help. So far, After i hit pass the whole CGminer window (win764bit) just spews Something down then goes Blank
Oh windows... I'm sorry
*snickers* Yeah...
I just cant bring myself to Linux, I've seen so many Collossally amazing things done Via linux,
BUT ALL THE COMMAND LINES, Fuck it'd be like relearning all of computers again x.x
I've seen cars do some awesome things, but ALL THOSE PEDALS, Fuck I'll stick with my horse. :p
