14201  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Setup on: June 13, 2014, 08:22:48 AM
I am new to bitcoin mining and looking to get started could anyone recommend a good complete set-up that could get me mining straight away preferably with a 1Th/s hash rate miner
Thank you

I suggest doing some reading up on bitcoin's and doing some learning ROI mainly.

After you have a ROI set one friend i like is https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=514758.0 for hardware I'm assuming you don't have bitcoin for purchase.  He also takes paypal for purchases as-well.   On 1TH he sells hosted/shipped Dragons.  Depending on electricity price, summer heat, and space you have.

Also if you need someone to fix equipment they have a engineer when you host.  For beginning if you are not use to hardware this is a valuable asset.

Reserved for future questions and answers

Additional facts:

"Two or more SF-28M miners can link together with ethernet cable, thus you can run as much as 100 unit with only one computer"

If hashing speed seems low try these possible solutions:

For me personally I experienced more stability and speed with very cool air going through it.  Proper air-flow can effect your hashing rate and stability.  Cool air and not just air flow can make the difference if your unit seems to be un-stable.

Second would be to try the new firmware.  If your SilverFish miner on the performance (M) tab goes to 14 on both blades and stabilizes then most likely you are on the most current firmware.  If you are having good luck with older firmware I would not upgrade, but this new firmware can help unit's that were less stable on older firmware.

You can use these in combination together and that is also the third option.  Using both seems to help some.

It does seem some blades can preform lower then others.  Some will work right out of box with no additional cooling needed or firmware updates.  Others will notice the above hopefully has had a positive impact on stability/speed.

Windows 1 Hour restarting batch file
This will restart the software at a one hour interval.  This might help some that have a significant drop after a few hours of running.  You can change the .exe file name below if batch file if you are using the English version or a different version of the software. Note you must edit the task killing .exe and start .exe both if you edit it to different version/language.
Steps
  • Open up notepad
  • Paste the following in notepad:

    Echo "Lee Group - Notlist3d - SFMinerR2.1 Hourly Restart"
    TaskKill /F /IM SFLMiner_r2.1.exe
    timeout /t 3
    start SFLMiner_r2.1.exe
    timeout /t 7200
    start restart.bat
    EXIT

    Or R3.04

    Echo "Notlist3d - SFMinerR3.04 Hourly Restart"
    TaskKill /F /IM SFLMiner_r3.04.exe
    timeout /t 3
    start SFLMiner_r3.04.exe
    timeout /t 7200
    start restart.bat
    EXIT

  • Go to file save as then select any file as type and name it restart.bat in the same folder as your SilverFish mining software
  • You are able to now run this by clicking it within the folder

SilverFish 28MH Scrypt Miner

0) General information + Hardware Needed
1) Unpacking
2) The Miner
3) Install
4) How to order

0) General Information + Hardware Needed
This miner is an open air design that might remind some of the S1 Ant miner design at first glance.  It’s a compact little miner that still packs a punch with 28 MH of Scrypt mining power.  Between the two blades it has a total of 40 SF300K01 chips.  This miner is rated to run on about 440 watts.

Hardware needed in addition to SilverFish 28MH miner.

  • Standard power supply with 2 PCI-E 6 Pin adapters (suggest 500 watts or bigger)
  • Computer to run SilverFish mining software
  • Network cables - 1 network cable to go to your network, and other to link blades

1) Unpacking
I was very impressed with the packing.  I received mine within two boxes.  The miner was well insulated with styrofoam covering the miner as shown.  You can see it appears to have taken shipping to customer as a priority with amount of protection on miner

2) The Miner
Below are images to showcase the miner.  In comparison to showcase it’s size in one picture it’s beside the A2 30 MH miner.

3) Install
A)First off you will need a standard computer supply with 2 PCI-E 6 pin adapters, each blade uses one adapter. I suggest using a 500 watt power supply or more to save a headache as mine seemed to run in range of pretty steady right around 430 watts but could reach 450 occasionally.  I used the paperclip trick to get the power supply to run without a computer.  As always if you do this be careful with electricity.

B)Below shows how to connect your miner network cables.  Closest Ethernet slot to PCI-E adapter goes to network, outer Ethernet slot allows you to connect next blade:

C)With this miner you are provided with software to run on Windows that makes it very easy to control multiple SilverFish Miners. It very easy to install through provided official link: http://pan.baidu.com/s/1ntK9cql

Simply extract the following files into a folder on your computer, and open the application.  There is a Chinese and English version of the program.  The English version if followed by "_EN"

D)Once ran it will automatically find your miner on your network.  It’s as simple as that.  Below shows how it has found one SilverFish 28MH miner and within it the two blades:

E)Simply add a pool if not there by hitting operate then add pool.   Most likely it has one default one there simply right click on it to change the miner pool settings as shown below and click ok after:

4) How to order
Simply go over to the Lee group buy located at: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=514758.0
Shipping scheduled to start shipping on 6/15.

Thank you for looking at this guide.  Feel free to post question's.  My 2 bit disclaimer: Please be careful with electricity I can take no responsibility if you are hurt with equipment.  I also do not make the equipment and am not responsible for their products or your use of them.

Miner 1.
Bottom blades EXTREMELY HOT. CAN NOT TOUCH THEM.
Top to blades cold.
PSU made a clicking noise when I first turned on. And burning smell.
Both fans on.
All green led on blades.
Hash rate totally unstable. Around 160gh
...

With PSU making a "clicking" noise are you able to see if PSU fan is broken?   Have you tried another PSU to see if that makes a difference?
14205  Economy / Services / Re: [Lee group]6779$ for 90M scrypt miner and 1699$ for dragon 1T bitcoin miner on: June 12, 2014, 09:36:03 PM
Ok this is a pretty bad one guys and I need some help.  Today I noticed my Dragon Miner was mining on just 3 boards (same settings for 1 month); so I shut it down and turned it back on. All board lights come on normally: flashing at first then on steady.

Once back on the browser menus come up normally, the window says its hashing, but the secondary stats window is stuck on the infamous "Error getting device list: ERR: socket connect(0) failed"; seen this one before only this time it never goes away.

From the pool side this miner shows no hashing for this miner.  I swapped the power supply just in case the original one finally had died, but this did not resolve the situation.

I'm out of ideas; I would appreciate help from those who have dealt with these machines more than I have...

Do you happen to be hitting the button quickly to start?  Sometimes if you hit it multiple to quick can cause.  Hit once give a few minutes.  Probley not it, but that is what i try first.

Do not flash your current card, as i like to keep it since possibly working.  But you might try flashing another SD card and see if that fixes the issue.
14206  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Dragon 1T = Wife not happy! (Fan Noise) on: June 12, 2014, 06:10:08 PM
Is there a quieter 120mm fan that can be swapped out and provide as much airflow?

I personally left the original fan's in as they work good. I do know people have replaced with quieter ones.

Have heard a few use quieter intake fans, and add exhaust fans in back helping airflow to help substitute for the original fans.

Just reinstall, cut your losses and go on. If your losses are somehow greater than 1 bitcoin, then consider it a tough lesson in backups. I highly doubt the computer will be the same even if you pay the ransom.

The biggest worry I would have is it being a business computer.  I sure hope you don't store confidential information on it.   And with backup's it could still be on it, just has not launched yet.  So make sure to run anti-virus, malaware checks if you do use a back up.  I even suggest trying multiple anti-virus programs if you do fix it on scans to make sure.
14208  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: All my BTC were stolen from QT desktop wallet by this individual on: June 11, 2014, 12:09:16 AM
Everyone really should look into a wallet or wallet service with good reviews and multi-factor authentication.  If you have a unencrypted wallet file on your computer it's just trouble waiting to happen.

I am sorry for your loss, I hope others read this and use multi-authenticaiton and encryption.
14209  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Help. Need to buy 1 Coin on: June 11, 2014, 12:05:59 AM
I need to buy 1 coin or .79 of one coin to unlock the latest CryptoWall Virus on a employee computer. There is no other solution then to try paying them to release his files. he had no back up or restore points

I am trying to buy 1 coin using American Express Business card.

Tried Virwox- max 78$ deposit - doubtful they would let me deposit multiple times

Coinmama- doesn't seem to allow us users
Coin.mx- really doesn't seem legit and also doesn't accept AMEX

Anyone have any other suggestions? may have to find an in person exchange for $700 - 1 btc locally.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

DO NOT PAY THE RANSOMWARE!  Even if you pay it's still on your computer.  And if this is a business computer.... I hope you don't keep confidential info on it.

If you google the message or name of it most likely you will find a fix.  Most of these you need to boot into safemode as they block anti-virus.  Might need to end a task or two in safe mode aswell.  Then install a antivirus if you weren't running one or try to run your virus protection, and also for malware.

If you cannot do it find a local business/service to remove it.  You want it off of a business computer......
14210  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Should I buy a USB miner? I get free electricity... on: June 11, 2014, 12:00:33 AM
USB miner's are for the most part low profit, do your own math.

It's not truly free power in your case... your parents will see the bills.  Depending on budget you look into bigger miner's and run ROI.  Might ask parents about it before running a 1k watt BTC miner.  It will cost more but A2's on scrypt have very low watts used compared to most other miners out.  Also there is a SilverFish miner you will be able to get soon that looks very promising with a little more electricity used.

I paid for another hosted 1T miner on June 6th

transaction ID: 33a43bb26c6ee0a9bc881d82e052facc06640748d98366f10a4c449757cbad7f

please let me know when it will be set up.  It's been 4 days and I haven't received a reply.

Thank you.

I cannot verify as I am not at data center.  But currently there is a new data center that should be completed this week.

If you have not received word by tomorrow around mid day send me a PM, and I might be able to do a temporary fix.

HELP GUYS,

just added another two 1Th Dragon miners to my current 7, changed the ip so there is NO CONFLICT.So they go from -

192.168.1.99 to 192.168.1.91.

192.168.1.92 and 192.168.1.91 re the two  i have just added.

I can connect to then via ip address, They BOTH show running and have the correct GHash pool details BUT the etherenet light on the miner is constant orange, not flickering??

It is flickering at my ethernet switch....

All blades are green.

I am also NOT getting any info regarding the speed of the miner at the bottom of the miner page ip adress,eg -

Mining machine running log:
(5s): 1.015T (avg): 1.013Th / s | A: 205935616 R: 212736 HW: 3211 WU: 55.1 / m   ******THIS IS BLANK *******

*****PLUS THERE IS NO STATUS RED LED *****

HELP PLEASE !!!

It apppear's not to be any issue mining wiith details so far.  If it's getting connection, accepting jobs appears to be good from details.  You can look in advanced to see what it show's on details.

But look at pool and watch stats appears to be working fine with information so far.

Shamless plug for a friend on Dragon check out reduced price in Mr. Lee's thread. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=514758.0

Two not mentioned are two scrypt miners
  • A2 Miners
  • Silver Fish

A2's have been on the market a little while longer but still have lowest power consumption for its chip's.

The Silver Fish miners are brand new, I should have a review in the following week the 1 unit I have tested preformed very nice.  Will know a lot more in following week.

Also you mentioned feedback Mr. Lee has sold  many miners and also accepts paypal.

Will definitely get in touch with Mr. Lee. In touch with a lot of Chinese suppliers for the Dragon miners. The A2 miners are good with power consumption, I heard. Not the biggest fan of paypal, I will ask him if he can take a CC payment or Alipay or something. Can you pm me his contact details if you can. Thanks.

Sure he is the main person in the thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=514758.0
User: pcfli

You can PM him on here.

The 3 payment methods I know he takes are:
Payment method:
1.   btc
2.   wire transfer
3.   paypal (4%fee)

On others you mentioned I am unsure of acceptance but you are welcome to ask him.

I have an email from someone claiming to be peicalili@gmail.com regarding some 1T Dragons that are for sale.  Can anyone confirm if this is legit?

most likely not considering on page one it does not match his email.. there is an extra l in one you posted

Very nice catch tee, it does not match the "peicaili@gmail.com" posted at first looks VERY close.  But is definitely a scammer sent out email.

are these dragon 1T stable? compared to an S2 how do they fare?

Below is a image of my dragon the last 72 hours on BTCGuild.  Mine has been very stable it's the blue line Smiley

I have an email from someone claiming to be peicalili@gmail.com regarding some 1T Dragons that are for sale.  Can anyone confirm if this is legit?

I personally did not receive a email. I would always be cautious with any email as it could be faked, etc.  Most of all as a rule with email's with this one mentioned or other unknown emails don't click links to be safe. (As i did not get email I'm just guessing on link or links but those are what would worry me)

I have asked about email but it is late where Mr. Lee is currently.  I would trust thread and be cautions with emails unless Mr. Lee say's he has sent some out.

1. I am plannig on buying DRAGON T1 Bitcoin ASIC Miner 1000 GH/s 1 TH/s Stand-Alone for 1600 Euro is it still worth? Would it be profitable?

Shameless plug for a friend.  If you are going to buy a DRAGON 1T look into Mr. Lee's forum https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=514758.0 .  It's cheaper then 1600 euro by my calculations on both shipped and hosted Smiley
14219  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: newbie on: June 09, 2014, 06:39:49 AM
Otherwise you have to scam others for BTC.

Do not listen to advice.  You will never live down the scamming there is a whole thread about it.

Look into mining and investing/market.   Do some ROI math.
14220  Economy / Services / Re: WE PAY FOR SIGNATURE EVEN MORE. UP TO 0.0016 BTCs PER POST. WEEKLY PAYOUTS. on: June 09, 2014, 06:30:18 AM
has anybody gotten paid?
Yes, a lot of people have. A lot of people haven't, though, or been paid the wrong amounts.

If you have one working i HIGHLY suggest not moving to this until it get's better support.  I never got paid myself.

If is fishy but cant show scam yet.  Unfortunately it's hard to prove lack of effort as flat out scam.  But look at it this way they have trouble confirming people (skipping, etc) it cost's them far less.  They pay people amounts that many question, again cost's far less.  A decent amount of people including me did everything posted to get confirmed, made posts.  And never confirmed and no payment (hence why i removed sig)

They got away doing this for 4 weeks.  Now imagine the scale of what can happen over the monthly payment system.  Every problem is multiplied.  They can keep raising the per post pay to get people to sign up and try for a payout, but as long as they keep this up they got a massive advertisement campaign for little of what it should have costed.
