14221  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Šogecoin on: May 03, 2015, 10:04:41 PM
Dogecoin started going down when Jackson Palmer left.  All Jackson Palmer ever did was promote Neucoin because he was an adviser for it.  I saw that thread on reddit.  The things the Doge community said to him there was very un-Doge-like.  I thought you guys were supposed to be the easy going fun types and yet you treated your founder like shit.  And for what?  You take this crypto thing too seriously just like any other altcoin.  I thought Dogecoin was somethng special because of its community.  Looks like you have a case of rabies there that only Jackson can cure.
14222  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Western Union: 'Too Early' to Discuss Ripple Labs Pilot Project on: May 03, 2015, 09:56:31 PM
Western Union running scared of BTC?
Trying to prevent the inevitable end of their organisation with BTC growing year by year.
WU can't compete with the fees they charge.

Yeah.  Very scared.  Thank god there's Ripple.

Ripple has been proven to be a big joke.
Even the supposed Ripple enthusiasts, who used to push it on here have gone quiet now.

Yeah.  It is a big joke.  Ripple and WU can be two big jokes together.  Not that they already aren't.

They are the scum of the earth dinosaurs and they deserve to die because they aren't using Bitcoin.
14223  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What's wrong with BitShares and why I am leaving. on: May 03, 2015, 09:53:44 PM
OP. Sorry for your loss.  But the one big mistake you ever did was going all in on Bitshares.  I'm not saying it's a bad investment or anything, that's not my point.  But you never ever go "all in" like that.  These companies in crypto are start ups.  And most of the start ups fail.  8 - 9 start ups out of 10 fail.  So imagine your odds when you went all in.

In investing, always look out for your bankroll first and foremost.  There are lots of elements out there who would do anything for you to part with it.
14224  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Western Union: 'Too Early' to Discuss Ripple Labs Pilot Project on: May 03, 2015, 09:42:30 PM
It is the power and security of the Bitcoin network that make it unique and useful. Transferring value across the globe at little cost is intrinsically valuable and the killer app. Old models and new tech that mimic old models will go the way of the Do Do bird. Western Union is done, the fact that they acknowledge they are looking to a pre mined digital asset is confirmation of their demise. Bitcoin is well into the process of a network exponential adoption curve and nothing short of complete ( and I mean complete ) destruction of the internet will stop it. Unless Western Union adopts the Bitcoin block chain, they are done.

Yes WU is done.  Lol.

wow wow, I did not expect that the developer a cryptocoin got so much money.

There's actually a team behind those projects not just a developer.

How much BTC and NXT did the NEM ICO make?
14231  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What Altcoins Have The Highest Funding? Make Informed Decisions. on: May 03, 2015, 11:45:08 AM
Please post a more accurate figure how much total in BTC and I can also put a figure average in USD.

Also how much NXT was made in the ICO?
14232  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What Altcoins Have The Highest Funding? Make Informed Decisions. on: May 03, 2015, 11:19:07 AM
It would prob make sense to convert it all to USD or EUR or whatever. BTC has gone down A LOT in the last year so you can't really compare most of the raised BTC values.

Yeah.  But the value of BTC raised changes day by day if listed in USD.  So I decided to list them in BTC unless fiat donations were made.

You could just list the USD price of  BTC at the time. That way it would be comparable. No need to update it to current prices.

How long was the NEM IPO/ICO and how much was BTC on the last day?

Anyone know anything about BanxShares?  They have a crowdsale going on http://banxshares.com/investors/

And what happened to BitBay?  I think they did well in their IPO/ICO.  Never mind.

14235  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Initial Coin Distribution Importance on: May 03, 2015, 10:02:46 AM
Bob, I think I may have over-simplified what I was trying to say about initial coin distribution.  Here's the thing.  Imo for a 2.0 project like Ripple, they might get away with the fact that they have one of the worst distributions out there.  Here's why...

  * Ripple Labs is a for profit company.  So in effect it is in their interest for XRP to go up.

  * We know their identities (devs, execs, etc...), and know that they could get imprisoned for fraud if they do
     any shenanigans.

In Bitcoin's case, it must be very important.  And the fact that Satoshi holds 1m BTC may be a problem.  Why...

  * We do not know who he really is and what he intends to do with his coins. He cannot be held liable for
      anything because he's anonymous.

So I think knowing a person's identity, his intentions and that he can be held liable for fraud has to be given more importance than distribution.  Not saying that distribution isn't important at all.  Because if one dev wants to be anonymous, then distribution must be fair as much as possible to encourage trust in the system.

Edit:  I started a thread about why Satoshi didn't "burn" his coins if he doesn't have any intention in gaining access on them in the future https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1045997.0

Some inputs with be nice.

Even if the guys at Ripple Labs decide not to do any obvious shenanigans, the simple fact that they hold so much of the total value (and thus power) in a decentralized distributed network might not sit too well with some people.

That is true.
