14341  Economy / Speculation / Re: So, everyone knows about Bitcoin now... why isn't the price going up? on: April 15, 2013, 07:28:36 PM
It was fully my expectation that when "mainstream" news got out about Bitcoin that we'd see a lot more people buying in.  I see more and more people and companies wanting to use it, so why aren't we seeing a price increase?

I figure it's due to one of four reasons:
1) Lag time between hearing about it and actually buying some.
2) Difficulty in buying Bitcoins.
3) It was previously overvalued.
4) Many people have heard of it for the first time, and do not yet believe in it; they are waiting to "see what happens" before they dive in to the world of Bitcoin.

Thoughts?

the reason is simple....

Speculation!

a major reason people bought bitcoin before all the mainstream events, was only to SELL it once it got mainstream, and collect on a hefty profit.

this is what's happening now, the long shot bet has paid off! bitcoin is here! so stick to the plan and take your reward! $_$

get it?
14342  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker on: April 15, 2013, 06:37:11 PM
What worries me the most is that it is Monday, fiat has entered the system and prices should have started to rise by now. Instead we are slowly going down..

there have been mondays when it was very slow ..
i think people are just sitting their waiting for the price to stabilize..   so Am I
if some big fish suddenly buys a lot.. all want back in ..
if some big fish massivly dumps coins.. all want to sell.. if they are still holding coins after the big (crash/correction).

but looking at trend over the year.. we are still in bullish trend..   in my oppinion

i wanne buy.. but i need a big fish to start it up again Smiley there must be a lot of cash flowing.. all who sold at +200$ are sitting on massive fiat funds..

they can buy realy cheap now Wink hint hint hehe

Heh, yeah. When the price goes up, everyone rushes to buy. When the price grows down, everyone rushes to sell. When the price is kinda-sorta-doing nothing, nobody knows what the fuck to do.

Tongue

so true...

the chart look good, i'm seeing a lot of volume when their is a small push down, everything is just fine
14343  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker on: April 15, 2013, 05:57:37 PM
Bitcoin is down ~10% currently. Anyone happen to take notice that gold and silver are also down ~10% right now? Any thoughts or knowledge about that?

the world economy is in recovery! no need to worry anymore  Grin Grin Grin

You can feel depression setting in, people are so irrational... keep sucking GOX, soon it will be time to capitalize on the fear   Cool

Roll Eyes **wonders just how low it will go
14345  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker on: April 15, 2013, 05:17:22 PM
Verification queue is at 28,300 as of right now, if anyone is interested.

Lots of people want their fiat out of gox. Most will wait with selling till they can withdraw so their funds aren't locked.

WeAreMtGox:

How many new accounts are you getting at the moment?

Before the DDOS 20000 day.

How long is the verification queue?

We currently have a 2-week backlog.

Is the verification queue mainly new accounts?

95% are new accounts

ok so bitcoin Montreal meetup is going gr8, we are having our second meetup next, next weekend ( may 4th ).  We'll be talking and working towards spreading awareness of bitcoin in montreal... while having a good time  Cheesy

However the next meetup i have planned after this one will be far more serious, and i want it to be EPIC

after this friendly bitcoin meet up ( may 4th ), I want to organize something BIG, i will gather many many merchants and newbie bitcoiners to come together to watch a ~2hours bitcoin presentation at Dawson College Auditorium.

we will presenting BITCOIN to 100's if not 1000's of merchants and newbie bitcoiners, from all over the area. ( i'll make sure to have the attendants expected, think of this as a BIG ASS event that might make the local newspaper the next day )...

I will be organizing this event, and I will be hosting the presentation, BUT i would like some support from some other "Big Shot" bitcoiners.

I will be working hard to create a bitcoin a BUZZ in montreal, i can only hope we can have some big bitcoin names to come to this epic meet up and help me out with the Mage presentation.

i'm thinking this event will be held on Oct 5th 2013

please PM me if you wish to help make this a reality. ( if you're a good public speaker and would like to introduce bitcoin to 1000's of people PM ME! )
Thanks!

Adam StG, hosting what might be the biggest bitcoin event yet, In montreal Quebec Canada

the 4th is better for me

14350  Bitcoin / Meetups / Re: Bitcoin Montreal April 27th 2013 - Introducing Bitcoin to Merchants & Customers on: April 15, 2013, 04:10:14 AM
Meet up is next weekend!

I may have to push it back to next next weekend depending on everyones availability, there will be drinking and partying but this is a serious meetup and i have some important information to relay to all bitcoiner in montreal, so its important we get everyone together.

I'm working closely with https://bips.me/ to make the persentation for introducing bitcoin to merchants in montreal. Things are progressing and https://bips.me/ now allows quick, easy and automatic convertion of BTC to CAD for mercehents, but my persentation is not yet complete. So obviously this meetup will not be at  Dawson College Auditorium... we will be meeting up on the hill like last time, and then hitting the bars.

I will have some flyers and physical bitcoins with me, which i will give away to everyone who attends this meet up. The plan is to have you Montrealer bitcoiners give away these flyers and physical bitcoins to random people you meet during the summer, in order to help  to create a Buzz about bitcoin before I give my epic presentation at  Dawson College Auditorium.

Obviously this meetup is sure to be A LOT of fun ( there will be free weed, flyers and physical bitcoins!!!... if you like that shit, you know i do!!!  Cheesy ) ! i look forward to seeing everyone from the last meet up and maybe a few newcomers.

Bring your friends!

I will PM everyone soon and post more details below soon.

Thanks everyone!

same rules apply...

i will be waiting out side of Mont-Royal metro station at ~3:00 wearing my Bud Light lime Hat, i'm 6"3' you can't miss me..... ( i really fucking need to get a bitcoin hat... anyway)

We will walk up Mont-Royal, and then we will meet up with everyone else at Madhatters bar downtown, at ~5:00  we party hard till ~12:00, and then go home...
This time i feel RICH so i will be buying everyone a round, and some nachos!!

after some thought, i believe april 27th is to short notice for everyone...

the point is I have some important news, and i NEED to meet up with all bitcoiner in montreal....

i will keep this thread updated with the exact date of the meet up.

STAY TUNE!

Looks like it's "Dump & DDoS" time again.

Doesn't seem to have worked though, no gox lag and no panic (yet).

Fuck, this btc buisness is big stress
i not get any sleep, and need go to work also ;( lol

i just sold at 88, but if i have my usual luck
it will go back up now

14355  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker on: April 14, 2013, 04:40:45 AM
i feel the market really really wants to run up, but its holding back... Tongue
Hmmm.....The high Mt.gox verification cue and Coinlabs coming on line within the US and Canada markets on May 6th will make for an interesting time I think.

Damn Bitcoin is interesting every day Sad
Just imagine what we would all have achieved if we weren't following Bitcoin every day!!!11

lol i know
lets just all buy in one last time, and get to work.

But he does give you guys a handy scapegoat: Alex Jones thinks the central banks started the selloff.
I suggest you buy as much as you can to show them.  Wink

Seriously this is dumb.

ya it was dumb... Adams said that the people who created bitcoin are "Bitcoin Billionaires FOR SURE", when the market cap of bitcoin is 1.2 Billion Dollars.....
clearly these guys shorted bitcoin, and are willing to say wtv FUD they can come up with to shake confidence. also they push gold and silver as a way out of "the dollar collapse, that will happen FOR SURE" so maybe their producers don't want to promote bitcoin anymore...
14360  Economy / Speculation / Re: The Crash Then and Now - 2011 v 2013 how big are the differences? on: April 14, 2013, 02:55:09 AM
