14361  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: New Nintendo Switch Game Rumored To Be SECRETLY CRYPTO MINING?! ProgPoW News on: April 08, 2020, 12:29:11 AM
I gave you merit because it is interest info.  You even wrote a little info here.

I do wish you would flesh out more when you post here instead of setting the clicks to you tube.
Hey Phil great to hear from you and I hope you're doing well in this crazy time. Thanks for the merit too.

I have tried to flesh the description more, but I won't deny that I copy and paste the information here onto the forum along with a link and uploaded thumbnail.

I just typed this above but I've had numerous threads deleted without any notice or explanation, I cannot even post into the Bitcoin sections of this forum most, if not all, of my threads, have been deleted there.

Lately, I've been really missing writing out some content and it's actually why I've been trying to shake off some rust writing a couple of basic introductory pieces, here's one I wrote on ASIC miners https://voskcointalk.com/t/what-is-an-asic-cryptocurrency-miner/69

In the future, say take this thread, what would you have enjoyed I added to this forum post? Fleshing out each talking piece I had in the video w/ a supporting screenshot? Ex. the E3 and firmware tweet, the screenshot of ravencoin, veil, and zcoin all expressing interest in progpow? Would love your feedback.

You make good videos some are entertaining and nice to watch.
Yeah mods here and mods in regular  sha- 256 btc mining are brutal.

But it used to feel  like you were more into here then it does now. The resining is partly because you left a lot of click my youtube video.
It is tough because you have a decent following on YouTube and some people resent you for it they know you get money if they click on your link.

This time you had enough content that I could do some research on the topic without clicking on your link.
This is where is gets complicated.  Writing an answer here is hard to do.  But if I feel it is 100% click bait I get annoyed.  This thread was not 100% click bait.
Which is why I opened a dialog with you.

Crypto has become more of a grind for me and less fun then it once was.  You are young and I know you put a lot of energy into it. But you need to have some fun with the actual product of mining gear etc. It is best when you show you believe in what you are talking about.

Hey I have 9 xmr mining rigs why is that because xmr has continued to develop anti asic tech.

Here is a commercial link to bitcoin forum market place

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5238641.0  I am trying to sell 3 lessor xmr rigs to get a super xmr rig

essentially I hope it makes more sense $$ for me to do it.
but I also want to support the xmr algo because the developers are fighting basics.
and if you look at my signature I believe in alt coins and pc/gpu mining wrapped into and around btc mining.

I don't believe in a rip-off xbox game which it looks like you warned us correctly about in this thread.
14362  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: S17 Pro no longer hashing on: April 08, 2020, 12:03:48 AM
what is your firmware source?

you will need a new fan for sure.

but before you buy a fan I would like to know where did you source the firmware.

and socket refused is meaningless

happens all the time.

link for the fan

https://shop.bitmain.com/product/detail?pid=000201910151107519921qKMCqzJ06A8

link for extension cable
https://shop.bitmain.com/product/detail?pid=00020191021143636786sS54N4Xt0679

check prices and shipping for 2 vs 1

it may pay to order 2 fans and 2 extension cables vs ordering 1.

But please explain your firmware source

if it was not from bitmain  but from after market this may be the issue

or if it is from bitmain maybe you flashed the wrong firmware.

Also you say you have a s17 pro in the total and a s17 + in the posting.  they are not the same.   Which makes me think you have flashed the wrong firmware.
14363  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain Introduces the S19 and S19 Pro on: April 07, 2020, 08:16:32 PM
s19 pro is at 2920 from a reliable reseller  ships may 20

s17  is at 1054   ships now from same seller

106 th  for 2108  and a 40 day head start which is really a 70 day head start due to ½ ing

110 th for  2920

It will be longer then a year for the s19 pro to catch the s17 53th model

moon coin is an alt coin it belongs in alt coin section.

I asked the mods to move this.

I am not familiar with mooncoin or aikapool but I will look at them and post back for you.

here is a thread on bitcointalk.

I don't think so because the forum is designed for Bitcoin discussions.
You can't discuss Bitcoin if you are sick or dead. Smiley

I get the impression that the anti-authority streak of many contributors here results in the forum having more than its share of participants who are covid19 deniers.

Just like it's important for the health of a geographic community to be well informed, it's important for the health of an online community to be well informed.  Due to conference and events its even possible for BCT members to transmit the virus to each other! ---- though, I agree that is much less of a concern. Smiley

Quote
by now there is no evidence that it helps to prevent or reduce virus infection,

That is a phenomenal piece of misinformation.  Because it's unethical to conduct a randomized-controlled test for live infections, all the studying in actual humans is extremely underpowered-- it's stuck with very few participants, poor compliance, testing too late when they're probably not very contagious, etc.  When you have an underpowed test the most common outcome is that the finding is not statistically significant.

It's like saying that "there is no evidence that parachutes improve survival when jumping out of planes" -- because virtually no one is jumping out of planes without them and some of the few that do survive.

So, instead we get stuff like natural experiments where an aircraft flies from NY to China with a person with swine flu on it, and zero people on board with masks get sick while 47% of the unmasked "control group" people got sick. Was it due to the masks, or was it simply that people with masks were more careful in general? We can't be completely sure.  The purpose of having a randomized control trial is to eliminate issues like that, but we can't go around intentionally infecting people with swine flu.

The particular study you're linking too was frustrated by detecting extremely low levels of viruses in *all* samples. For example for coronavirus (OC43) they  only detected the virus in droplets in the breath of 3 of 10 parties with the virus and no mask, while they detected it in 0 of 11 with the virus and a mask. Yet we *know* these viruses spread via dropplets. Their problem was that they either weren't testing people while they were contagious-- e.g. because the most contagious period was before symptoms showed, as is believed to be the case for sars-cov-2-- or their measurement approach was just busted. But regardless, in every case the mask reduced the levels they detected.

The problem was that their test was so underpowered that even an infinity fold reduction in rate was not statistically significant.

If the same approach study had also tested a six foot thick lead lined concrete wall, it would have also concluded that there was no evidence that it prevented the spread of OC43!  No virus particles would have been detected on the other side of the wall, just like the mask.  It would have been nice if they did include that, because then we could go around saying that there is no evidence that a mask works less well than a six foot thick lead lined concrete wall, and we'd be just as technically correct. And while it would also be a stupid and misleading claim, it would probably be less misleading than the claim that masks are completely ineffective which you've extracted from that paper.

Here is the image you couldn't link:

If every in the world wore a mask of so so quality it would have lowered infection rates.

Simple test is stand 3ft in front of a glass window and sneeze with zero effort to block or deflect the sneeze.

You will see droplets on that glass window.

The stand in front of the glass window with this mask

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y79K1PodX58

a simple mask made from mens clean underwear. obviously not n95.
sneeze at the window form 3 feet away and I guarantee you the moisture droplets will be reduced greatly.

I made a mask based on the youtube video above in under 30 seconds and while I know it won't help germs entering my eyes nose or mouth it will protect people from my germs of a sneeze or cough or even when I am speaking.

If people are willing they could make youtube videos of the underwear mask they made and we could post them somewhere some place

14369  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: It is 2020 time for a new diff thread. on: April 07, 2020, 02:26:40 PM
Yeah with out price moving up ½ ing will take out a ton of hash in May.

As for the Health report for us in NJ,NT,CT

I got better it is as if I was not sick from dec 31 to jan 20  with corona-v?

My wife has finally  begun  to show a good recovery  she was really sick from  dec 26 to feb 20  with a 3 day hospitalization jan 13 to jan 16  also possible corona-v.

Both of us have normal temps   we take it 3 times a day
both of us have 95-98 blood O2   vs  91-93 blood O2

She is off the inhaler  and still has good O2

She is now using flonase for post nasal drip and she does not  get as much in her lungs forcing her to cough for 20-30 minutes at a time.

We know 3 of her 4 cousins are recovering but one is still on a ventilator  we worry for him.
14370  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: It is 2020 time for a new diff thread. on: April 07, 2020, 01:43:38 PM
I see a jump of 2-6%  on the april 8 to april 21/22 adjustment

I see a jump of 2-6% on the April 21/22 to may 4/5/6 adjustment

The ½ ing is due in may  around 10-15

at the all-time high diff and ½ the coins a ton of gear is dead unless price is 11k

so the diff in may on the 18th or so will drop somewhat
and the diff in very early june will drop again.

I don't ever go far out but i think I will be close to the 4 jumps after this on tomorrow .

we are at 13.9 for a day

+5-6     say april 8    we go to 14.7
+2-6     Say april 21  we go to  15.6
+2-6     say may 5     we go to 16.4  close to all time high
-4-7     say may 19   we drop to 15.7
-10-15  say june 2     we drop to 13.8

I base this on a price of 8k-9k by june 2

I never try to reach out this far in diff guesses but i feel safe enough to think this is correct.
14371  Other / Meta / Re: I just want to know why my post was deleted. on: April 07, 2020, 04:15:42 AM
Your post was obviously reported for being off-topic and mod deleted it. Always refrain from making unnecessary posts or comments in signature campaign application threads to avoid such scenarios. I don't see why you even had to open a topic asking why your post was deleted.

If he wasn’t deleted he wouldn’t ask. Maybe just maybe off topic is different for him in his native language then it is for an english speaker.

He should pm his moderator and the op of the thread.

Maybe they would tell him they think it is off topic.
14372  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: It is 2020 time for a new diff thread. on: April 07, 2020, 03:52:12 AM
we agree on the 5% for this jump.

next jump is tricky if we start on the 10th of april we could squeeze 2 jumps

then the 1/2 ing comes.

So I have a few thoughts

turn every single piece of old gear on mine the two jumps then shut the gear off.
or buy coin.

I think buying coin is smarter then turning the older less efficient gear back on.

Unless you have super cheap power.

14374  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: SIXTEEN AND A HALF DAYS for this last difficulty reset?!?!? Way late!!! on: April 07, 2020, 03:06:12 AM
More an excuse to pop this topic up than anything else, but...

If it took 16-1/2 days for this past difficulty reset, that means a lot of miners are turned off, a good 40% or more by my calculations.  Maybe just because the price is down right now, but that's a foolish way to go about mining.

Please delete this as it is completely wrong.

if difficulty drops 15% it means 15% of the gear shut off not 40%

Thk so much.

Well, more or less it has become clear to me what is happening, but as I said before, this is happening now, since I have been in the group for 4 months and before it had not happened to me, I have always received benefits, not losses, and as I have told you I only work mining at night 14 hours in a reduced cost electric rate, and not now, but always.

Best regards

P.S
My sincere apologies to anyone who could have offended.

Don't worry sometimes the internet is hard to talk to one another. It is resolved we straightened it out.
14376  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin's price, and mental health. on: April 06, 2020, 08:42:28 PM
why do investors should sell BTC before halving if they have it already for some time

Well coins are up to 7200 as I type.

I am sure some will sell today. Some simply are short cash and this is all they have to convert to cash.

Others may have purchased anytime before Novemeber  7th 2017 It had yet to ever reach 7000 until later in nov of 2017.

So any btc aquired from 2009 to Nov 7th 2017 would sell at a  profit.

Now some purchased at the march 2020 dip to 3900  so selling now is close to 2x your money.

I realize that from nov 7 2017 to april 2020   we were over 7200 often.  we were also under 7200

So  those selling in that position say 8500 average price for their coins and sell for 7200  they are willing to take the loss.

Maybe hardfacts has swayed them.

14378  Other / Meta / Re: Suggestion to make rank-up more difficult on: April 06, 2020, 07:13:52 PM
Many will wonder after reading the title. Maybe many will blame this idea.

But, in my opinion, ranking up is way too easy now...

So I suggest to raise the merit standards because it is way too easy to earn them and also raise the needed activity for higher ranks.
That is a situational irony you've got here, OP. That you your merits easily thrown at you doesn't mean it's that easy for others or that you're a better poster than they are. Just count your blessings and be mutely grateful to the community.

In addition, your post brings to the fore of a popular saying in my tribe, this I will loosely translate here - A man with a healthy penis doesn't know the travails of one with the elephantiasis of the scrotum.

True,  I can not image wheeling my testicles in a wheel barrel.  I can only say it must be terrible.

Agreed.  I would argue anything under 1TH should be on the solo pool.  I have one device on the solo pool - an S7-LN running on low frequency.  Using 400 watts and averging 1.35 TH/s.

When I did that rental is was for 10 ph  I spent 0.0055 btc on nicehash.

It does not last long as 10ph is very high rental and 0.0055 btc is very small amount to use.

But while it was active  I had  10/11 of the entire pool  which hurts everyones  derp (except mine) while it lasts.

This is the very reason 5n  came about it was to soften  a big miner coming to a pool and crushing everyone else.

Since the effect of a big miner is stretched over 5n average  vs 1n  the derp shift takes 5x longer to happen.

5n pools are great if hashrate on the pool is 1% of network and pool is making 1 or 2 blocks a day.

If I were Mrbytes I would point my 200 or 400gh at the solo pool  http://solo.ckpool.org/

we just had a guy win a block with a 400gh miner.

the pool is all or nothing.  which makes sense for him to do. rather then mine here

I have 1th on the solo pool  http://solo.ckpool.org/users/146UJM5kgzLVUV23CXCf33KQKHckoX1gx3
I have 9th here

I have 2ph on a different pool but this is a 4 way partnership I manage it and get 25% the other guys don't want to mine here .
