1441  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Mining on a VoCore on: April 07, 2016, 08:27:51 PM
It would never produce more bitcoin than it would cost to run.  And, it has less computing power than a RasPi from what I can tell, which is also not viable as a miner.  Sorry...

The day's of CPU mining really are behind us.  Some will continue to do it.... but in most cases it does not bring a profit and does not even pay electricity.    Low powered computers are great for controllers ... but miners themself not so much.

One I still want to test out as a controller for other lotto is RPI zero.  I'm still holding out till I find it for the 5 dollars it should be, I refuse to pay extra.     It is amazing how long it has kept selling for higher then what it's normal price should be.  But I think a RPI zero could be interesting for running a compac or two.
1442  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Allocating one core for GPU mining on: April 07, 2016, 08:14:49 PM
you do the opposite, you allocate what you need for cpu mining and the other are automatically used for anti-bottleneck

Basically on cpuminer you should be able to enter the number of threads.   If you are cpumining and for some reason need to use it for other things aswell use less threads for cpumining.

I have a feeling you will be better off not even messing with CPU mining though as it tends to be unprofitable. So your likely causing headache for little/no gain.
1443  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: UK import duty? on: April 07, 2016, 08:10:23 PM
Hi, I'm looking at buying an ant miner s7, does anybody know how much import duty charges on these will be to UK?

thanks!

It is expensive in most of EU.   I would suggest looking at hosting in a place without VAT/Import tax.  I have a feeling by time you pay vat there you will be paying a good amount over what a S7 is worth.  And EU electricity tends not to be cheap (in most cases).  So fighting a uphill battle.

I would guess it is in area of 20-30 percent (which sucks).  I would find someone in UK to check but I think you will find VAT kills the deal for most.
1444  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: The halving is coming. What's your next move? on: April 07, 2016, 08:07:28 PM
Another interesting question is what s going to happen with alts? If BTC price goes a bit up, which is very probable, will alts follow or not?

It seems it's not that easy anymore alts can rise and fall without BTC.  They seem to not be 100 percent synced.  I remember day's of LTC and BTC they pretty closly followed each other (been a while since I messed with it).

Some alts have gotten crazy returns for people who believed early on.  I just am afraid as I see a lot of pump/dumps out there.
1445  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to collect BTC ?? on: April 07, 2016, 06:01:35 PM
snip read above to get whole quite

Is just a nature o gambling that you can always lose if you are not satisfied what you win.. better to control your self and be satisfied i you make 0.003 better to withdraw it because you just claim it in faucet for free..
[/quote]

It's the nature of gambling that you lose long term.  Does not matter what you do... how good you are... most gambling is tilted twords house.  Some say they can beat this with card games... but most of the BTC are like dice or something such as that.  And it's all random with odds against you.

So I think stay away from gambling is best thing you can do if you want to collect BTC long term.
1446  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: WHICH BITCOIN WALLET IS THE MOST GOOD AND CONVINENCY on: April 07, 2016, 05:58:38 PM
After testing several wallets I can say that the best Bitcoin wallet is https://blockchain.info/wallet

That site is very responsive and you can put a low fee in each transaction if you have a little patience to wait and don't want to spend too much money in fees.

What wallets did you test? Adding this info would be good info to know what you tested it against.

I still am a fan of hardware wallets.  I think they will become more and more popular.  For those using blockchain.info make sure to treat it as hot wallet.  Also use 2FA I really like Yubikeys for it.
1447  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [1TH/s] How much traffic is a Miner with 1TH/s generating in 24 hours on: April 07, 2016, 05:53:43 PM
Hy ladies and gents,

i was wondering if someone could advise me how to calculate how much traffic a miner with 1TH/s is generating -> is this scalable to let's say 200TH/s

Kind regards,
elrippo

You don't have a ton of data.   You should easily be able to scale any modern connections to 200 TH (cable, dsl, etc).  So internet is not a problem.  Some of the big operations have satellite internet as backup, but for most this is overkill having a hot connection ready to go.

The harder part might be the networking as if that is S7's that is a decent amount of gear still.
1448  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Diff thread Apr 1 to Apr 15? picks are open.... prize = 0.1 btc on: April 07, 2016, 05:49:04 PM
Hashrate hit the new all time high. We're going to see at least 3% rise in Diff this period. Hopefully it was just due to variance, but more likely due to Bitmain producing and selling the crippled S7 with a single fan.

This is definitely not variance, this is a farm or farms turning on and off massive amounts of gear, it is much more than the latest batch of S7s would account for.

I'm relieved to see it dropping back down, I'm still afraid it's going to kick back up this period, although it does seem whoever is responsible for these peaks is timing the hash along with the adjustment period so as not to affect the next one.

They could have sold S7's with 2 fan's from data center on previous batches with Bitmain knowing they would do a new even lower cost 1 fan version.   So it's possible they sold stock they had on shelves knowing they could make money, and do a new batch of even cheaper S7's.  Which could be hitting shelves now.

I'm really hoping it's current gen.  As I have said a few other times next gen scares me on current gear, so I hope not next gen being turned on somewhere.

Last payment went through fine.  I know some mentioned SMS not working, it worked fine for me on the new site.   I did not have to do a call.

But seems like clean move to new URL.  I like the design of new site really.    Seems like long term it's a good thing new url seems like it will drawl more attention long term.  So looking up I think Smiley.
1450  Other / Archival / Re: Pictures of your mining rigs! on: April 07, 2016, 03:42:38 PM
Im selling what the customer wants, that is more mh for an acceptable price. No im not trying to sell here, just showing some work im proud of.

Offcourse you can undervolt to best mh/w ratio but thats not affordable to sell.

If by customer you mean NOOB, someone that doesn't understand what he is buying,.. well yeah you r right Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

Happy summer mining at +85'C with those rigs, at least the PSUs wont shut off, cause there is two LoL Smiley which in my country equals to ~20$ higher electricity bill.

Just admit that you lack the imagination and skills needed to power 6xGPUs with a single PSU that is made for 4xGPUs without setting it on fire, and I might enlighten you how to do it. Wink

or you could quit being a douche bag and let the guy show his work. He built it therefore he can show it.

do you know what the order was for that he is building, perhaps the client wanted the 2 psu to split the power draw to 2 different sockets. as far as cooling, again you do not know. perhaps the client has a 10000 btu ac unit he wants to set this in front of.

 till you know the details...hush.

It's a pretty clean rig to, I enjoyed seeing it.  Personally I will not be investing in GPU machines anytime soon I just see it a largely a thing of the past.  On 2 psu's I don't see it as a huge thing.   I use GPU's I have on hand, I would guess he does the same when possible.

It's hard to say on summer mining I use a lot of CFM's personally.  I have it going no matter what for my asics.... his customer might have the same where no additional cooling costs for 1 rig.   Who knows.  I don't feel like bashing him as I like when people share, if it was to much on sale side... ok maybe bash but he really did not push sales so think it's a good addition to thread.
1451  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: The halving is coming. What's your next move? on: April 07, 2016, 03:35:40 PM
I think that the halving is already well factored into the price (which has recently doubled).

But, despite of that, because I am long and leveraged and under the parity, I am still hodling my positions...

Best regards,
ilpirata79

Recently doubled? We have been in 400's for a while at this point.  I don't think there is anything recent about that.   If you go back it's been a long up and down ride many of us remember day's of 900-1000 btc.   But we no longer are there.

I am not sure we will get a doubling with having... just is not sure bet.   People know about it very far in advance so we should see some before if happens.... and again we are pretty steady in 400's at this point.
1452  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: How Much Power to mine 1 Btc a day. on: April 07, 2016, 03:33:03 PM
Hmm.

Gotta work more time on research as i am not an expert.
I can only invest in term of capital.

Well, thank you all guyz.
Stay safe.

Best of luck honestly your looking at starting to big.  I would look at smaller investments.  Possibly buy a bitcoin or two and try holding.    It is a good way to start with not a ton of risk if you don't go crazy.

Mining takes a LOT more research on big scale, and no profit is guaranteed.  So is high risk high reward type of business.
1453  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Diff thread Apr 1 to Apr 15? picks are open.... prize = 0.1 btc on: April 07, 2016, 03:30:33 PM
+3.6 = tomcat2

Newbie accounts are not allowed to make picks.  Sadly people abuse it if allowed.   So you will not be able to pick.
1454  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Is it to late to buy an S7? on: April 07, 2016, 03:29:18 PM
My electricity is .09/k.  I don't think I have import tax?

Electricity is nothing special, it is on the high side of mining.    What country are you in?  We can tell more on import tax.   But at .09 cent's I would not get to deep in buying current gen gear.

You might be better off buying BTC.  Hurts me to say as a miner but true.
1455  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Cloud Mining - Please help a newbie on: April 07, 2016, 01:38:02 PM
But there are lot of true cloud mining services available for us to get benefits with them.

No, there are not a lot of genuine cloud mining operations. Most 'cloud mining' sites are ponzi scams or, at best, fractional mining ponzi scams.

or invest for free in my system "about U2cloudmining site"
you can be sure never loose. You can only earn more or earn less...but never loose.

But if they go with your normal investing ... they can loose.  The number invested compared to payout unless it has changed massivly would suggest a lot of people on your system still have not made back investment - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=852857.msg13928830#msg13928830  Feel free to update numbers as it's been a while since you released that set.  But I don't see profit being made still.

Offering some "free" does not make up for other ponzi type investment that loses money.  Why do you continue to post this "u2 cloud"?
1456  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: [TUTORIAL] Earn Bitcoin Here! on: April 07, 2016, 01:33:52 PM
-snip-
since 99% of bitcoin users are poor, we need to give them incentives.
-snip-

I have to assume the 99% is just your assumption and not based on anything. I dont see a reason to reply to the rest of your points as we start to circulate. Its pretty obvious that we have greatly different views on the world and maybe some day we will meet in person and talk about it in more detail.

The incentive you give is like the fish in the proverb, where I prefer people would learn to fish instead. Maybe you are right and those that come here no longer have the mental capacity to learn fishing. I hope you are not. I will be here answering questions regardless, at least for a little longer.

I'm guessing he is talking about his "survey" - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1287718.0 which kinda looked like a attempt to get posts looking at how long it ran, and was all for a pie chart that a very limited number entered into.  Also it being in newbie forum had to effect it.  But even his own survey does not show 99 percent as poor.

The thing about bitcoins is we cannot tie them to a person easily so we can't say blanket figures like 99 percent are poor.   But far less then 99 percent are poor I think.  And what do you consider poor?  As that term means SO many different amounts depending on where you live.
1457  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Mixers, your experiences, tips, guides? on: April 07, 2016, 01:26:32 PM
Using of Tor hidden services to mix bitcoins
http://bitcoinmix.wordpress.com

I did not click link due to computer I'm on.  But I personally don't trust mixers to begin with.   Add one that is on a tor site that you have no idea about where it's being hosted, or who's behind it.  Sounds like perfect storm to be scammed and know nothing about who did it.

I strongly suggest people think before mixing.  As eventually if you do use the BTC chances are it's tied to your name if you buy something physicall, digital might not be.   So depends on what you buy.  But if buying a physical item does not make a ton of sense to mix.... as you are buying something to be shipped to you in most cases.
1458  Other / Meta / Re: How to protect an account from being hacked? on: April 07, 2016, 01:22:46 PM
Don't use easy passwords because people may use brute force to crack easy passwords. Moreover try to use btc address which u can sign message from later if needed to prove.

And this is the good thing about some password managers is unique and hard passwords to crack.  Random letters/number/symbols tend to be better then dictionary words when someone is trying to crack passwords.

So say if a database is taken if your using one of these random passwords it should give you more time to change password, compared to a dictionary word.
1459  Other / Meta / Re: Is Bitcointalk passing information to investigation authorities? on: April 07, 2016, 01:18:24 PM
Thanks for this yery interesting information!

What is BFL? I read the thread but I did not really get it. Was it a case like MtGox?

Yes. The forum has received subpoenas in the past and has complied. Read: BFL Subpoena.

There is a ton of info out there no need to take up a bunch of meta space for BFL.  But they made asics and sold them as pre-orders and took far longer to make.  Many that bought with BTC lot ton's of money.  They never did really recover, just kept getting later and later on products.   They were a horrible company.

But do some googling and you can find many stories.
1460  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: How Much Power to mine 1 Btc a day. on: April 07, 2016, 01:16:08 PM
I am setting up a private Bitcoin miner with my few friends.

We are planning to setup a 180Ths power mining rig.
Can we make enough bitcoins in a month.

according to the caluclators you would earn 0.54 btc per month, minus electricity, it's all about electricity and initial investments

what the fuck!!!!!
only 0.54 btc per month.

hardware cost is all alone 45,000$ worth!

Lol, we will end up i huge loss.

no bud bad math

4,73th = 0.014 btc per day before electricity

so 180th = 38 x S7 = 0.53btc PER DAY before electricity
15.96 per month of 30days

enjoy

We really need to see a electricity price but yes to mine 1 BTC in a day is a massive amount of gear at this point.  You have to think about it 1 BTC a day your talking about 6 figure amount of USD being mined.

I personally would be afraid in current market to throw down enough for 1 BTC a day.  And don't forget difficulty changes that will make a BIG change overtime.  1 BTC being mined will not be near the same in a few months.
