1441  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ODI cricket and general cricketing discussion [self - mod] on: September 19, 2023, 11:07:10 AM
@Dimitri94 Pakistan have suffered a huge blow as Naseem is out injured and he won’t be available for the World Cup and now it’s important that none of their other bowler’s get injured otherwise they’ll have a weak bowling lineup heading into the tournament. Lastly when it comes to their batting they definitely don’t have any consistency but their batsmen have lot’s of talent and if they just stick to the basics then they can definitely score big or chase a target easily.

I don't think it's a huge blow as there are few other bowlers who can replace Naseem Shah. If you see Pakistan performance in the Asia Cup then its very much clear that they are not fully prepared for coming ODI WC. Babar Azam was completely clueless in this tournament both as a batsman and as a captain. With such preparation you cant win world cup while India looks more focused and prepared for the upcoming WC. This WC will also tell whether viewers have any interest left in ODI WC.

Naseem Shah was the only bowler who played well in the Asia Cup. Ofcourse Afridi cannot be forgotten but was not that good.  Who will now be bowling from the other end? Rauf  doesn't bowl with the new ball. They would need a good bowler who should be able to bowl like Naseem Shah. Zaman Khan was not that good against Srilanka, condition would be the same for the world cup too. I don't think he would be effective enough. This injury is big problem for Pakistan, then there have been reports of internal conflict. That would again hamper the performance of Pakistani players.
1442  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: UnionBank to offer Bitcoin trading on mobile app in Octomber on: September 19, 2023, 10:28:34 AM

Atleast provide the source for this news since this is not global but rather only for Philippines. You can use this https://cointelegraph.com/news/union-bank-of-the-philippines-launches-bitcoin-and-ethereum-trading as source so that your reader will have an idea about what you are talking about.

Unionbank is known as the pioneer bank that embrace crypto. They also offers different courses that related to blockchain. This news is long waited by Filipipino consumer that involves to Bitcoin since we can by directly using our UB account.

It's important to mention that only selected retail can use this feature since this is just on a pilot program. It's still a great news and thanks for sharing.

Does this news mean that cryptocurrency is now legal in the Philippines? I am sure that all banks in any country are governed and regulated by a central bank. In the Philippines Central Bank of the Philippines does that job. If a bank is now offering crypto service then it does look like they have got permission from the Central Bank.

This is a piece of good news for the crypto community. It makes life easier for those who are into crypto trading and also those who want to hold Bitcoin and other crypto for long-term gain.
1443  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Unconfirmed Transaction on: September 19, 2023, 09:56:07 AM
I see it has 17 confirmations and did not see it go through to the merchant. Coingate is the middleman here and I contacted there customer care and yet to hear back.

I understand in a traditional world I can dispute this and can get refund, will there be a similar solution here. I have doubts since its been sent to an address and coins deducted from my wallet.

17 confirmation means the money has gone and is with Coingate. They now need to check the transaction hash and they will find it. Since you mentioned that you have contacted them I am assuming you have already provided the details. I don't think there will be any issues pertaining to the missing transaction.

1445  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum help needed. on: September 18, 2023, 12:31:42 PM
Not sure where the wallet files are exactly located in MAC, but I would imagine it should work if you just change the file's name from default_wallet to whatever you want. There is no need to add or edit any extension.

EDIT:

Quote
On Mac:

Open Finder

Go to folder (shift+cmd+G) and type ~/.electrum

You should find a wallet folder here which contains the wallet files. If you're scared you might corrupt the file (although I don't see how), just make sure your seedphrase is safe, or take a backup of your wallet first.

I followed what you quoted and it worked. The wallet name is now changed. Thanks for the help!
1446  Bitcoin / Electrum / Electrum help needed. on: September 18, 2023, 12:03:43 PM
This is a noob question! I downloaded the wallet on my Mac Book today, installed and then created a new wallet. While creating I saw that it showed me, Wallet = default_wallet. I did not understand earlier but later on I realized it meant wallet name. Now, that I have created a wallet, I would like to change this name. My question is how to do it? I do not see any option within the wallet that allows me to do it. I thought of changing the file extension but I concluded that it might corrupt the file.

What can I do now? Should I create a new wallet or can I still change the name?

Thanks.
1447  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Cricket Asia Cup 2023! Which team will WIN? on: September 18, 2023, 11:40:31 AM

I don't understand one thing whether in this match India played with Srilanka or Srilanka played with India. How can a team that defeated the likes of Pakistan and Bangladesh to reach the final get bowled out by just 50 runs to India? It was beyond our imagination that the final match of the Asia Cup would be so bad. India were definitely favorites in the final match but we never imagined that they would beat Sri Lanka so badly. India and Pakistan were expected to play the final match but that expectation did not materialize as Sri Lanka, on the other hand, played the final against India. There is nothing else to write about this match. I just want to forget the final match of this Asia Cup tournament.

Kudos to both teams for finishing this match in a very quick time.

When the toss was done, the sun was shining bright which led to Srilanka believing that the pitch would help batters. After the toss rain started pouring heavily and covers were brought upon the pitch. There was a delay of one hour approximately due to the rain, the covers caused the pitch to get moist. This moist on the pitch helped bowlers like Shiraz who is known for outswing and inswing bowling. If you check the first wicket taken by Bhumrah it was an outswing that the batter thought would come into the wicket.

Srilankan batters wanted to up the run rate as they expected rain interruptions. If DLS came into effect when the Indian team is to bat then the NRR is taken into consideration to decide the target runs given by the Srilankan team. That was the reason they were going after every ball, whereas they could have left those balls that looked unplayable. Wickets kept on falling because of some stupid batting too. In short yesterday was a combination of bad luck and excellent bowling.

The Reason Why India will WIN Asia CUP 2023!

India wins Asia Cup for the 8th time

I went to a pub with my colleagues to enjoy the finals with drinks, party got ruined. 😭 India started controlling the finals match from the first over because of Boom boom Bhumrah. Then next over and the following over of Shiraj got the game under the control of Indian team. A good day of cricket not enjoyed enough as there were only 51 runs to chase.

As an underdog and becoming the winner of the Asia Cup 2023 is a long journey that India took. After this win Indian side would be trying to win the World Cup..For now India and England are the favourite to win the World' Cup.
1449  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: My Bitcoin transaction has been stuck in the mempool for two weeks please help! on: September 16, 2023, 09:28:39 AM
Did you contact Cash app support? A Bitcoin unconfirmed transaction that has taken 2 weeks time can be canceled if your wallet allows it. I am not sure whether it is possible on the wallet or if you need to contact support. If you are unaware how to contact them follow this page. If they cannot help you then you need to wait for the transaction to fall off from the Bitcoin blockchain into your wallet. There is no specific timeline for it to happen.
1450  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Cricket Asia Cup 2023! Which team will WIN? on: September 16, 2023, 08:55:07 AM
Overall many positives for India so far but if dig more then few concerns as well.

The obvious one would be bench strength, this didn't pan out last night. Sky, Tilak, and Prasidh Krishna all looked cooked but India's major concern should be Jadeja with the bat. He's doing alright with the ball but not much with the bat, he surely needs some runs under his belt.

Prasidh Krishna started shaky, bowled okay, and took a wicket. Tilak playing his first international match was tense and got out without scoring double-digit runs. That does not look good as it was not a pressure match, he should take some tips from Abdullah Shafique. SKY has not been at his best after the last T20 World Cup. He has a lot of potential but has lost his form or might have become overconfident with his unique shots.

These guys should be better on the bench than on the field in the World Cup. Once Jadeja starts playing in India he will get back his batting. Shardul Thakur leaks the most runs and I think he needs to work on it, getting 3 wickets at an economy of 6.5 is not admirable. Then again not being able to contribute through bat when needed most is not acceptable.
1451  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Huobi global rebranded name to HTX on: September 16, 2023, 08:20:25 AM
I never liked this exchange in the past nor would I like it in the future. They have a reputation for changing their policy and terms & conditions. Being a Chinese exchange I won't be interested in going through their KYC policy. Renaming their brand won't help them in getting more customers. I checked and found that they have bought htx.com, but they haven't bought htxglobal.com and I suspect scammers might use this opportunity to clone the exchange and use the global domain. I might be overreacting but in the era of AI, anything can be possible.
1452  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Franklin Templeton files for a spot Bitcoin ETF on: September 16, 2023, 08:11:23 AM
There was a time when every financial institution in the USA was against Bitcoin. Now, they all want to get their hands on Bitcoin through ETFs. I wonder what all these big names are cooking behind our backs. I am certain there is a great deal of money and control involved plus they are all certain that the SEC would accept their application.

This might be speculative but why is such news no longer bringing in positive sentiments to the market? When it all started the Bitcoin pumped and everyone believed that the Bull market had returned. Currently, we are neither in a Bull market nor a Bear, Bitcoin is just hovering sideways. Next year we have the 4th halving and if one of the ETFs gets approved we might as well see some upward trend.

I am from the restricted country list. The list is quite big considering you are running a crypto casino. First work on removing those countries where people use crypto, then we can help you further with what we check and lookout in a new casino. Sorry for being rude as it frustrating.
1454  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Cricket Asia Cup 2023! Which team will WIN? on: September 15, 2023, 09:12:59 AM
The hope of watching Pakistan play in the final of the Asia Cup 2023 was destroyed by Babar Azams's poor captaincy yesterday. Pakistan batters did really well on a pitch that supported spinners but what about running between the wickets? They could have added an additional 50 runs if they had taken those singles and doubles. The outcome of the match would have been different if those runs were on the scoreboard.

The problem with Babar Azam is that he is unable to handle the pressure as a Captain and an important batter. A some what similar situation happened with Kohli when he was the Captain of India. PCB should find of a good replacement of Babar Azam, it is better if he only concentrates on his batting.

I was clueless, when I saw Fakar Zaman was given the responsibility of an opening batter. The guys has been struggling with his form and in an important match, why he got that opportunity. I am sure there were other options available. It was a bad day for Pakistan and they should work on their mistakes before the World Cup.

India makes some changes for the playing 11. Surya Kumar Yadav,Tilak Verma(debuts from this match), Mohammad Shami and Prasidh Krishna are playing today. Right decision taken by the team management to give rest to Bhumraha and Kohli.

India has already qualified for the Asia Cup final. Today Pakistan and Srilanka will play against each other to qualify for the final against India. The outcome of this game depends a lot in the hands of spinners. The betting odds favour Pakistan due to their ability to bat better than the Srilankan side. There will be a good amount of pressure on Dunith Wellalage to perform better in this game. He was at his best when Srilanka were playing against India. The weather at Premadasa Stadium is showing cloudy but it still can rain. The match starts in just few minutes and we will be enjoying this game for sure.
1458  Economy / Economics / Re: If the global economy collapses what's the first thing you do? on: September 14, 2023, 07:41:18 AM
What should bitcoiners be doing right now to prepare for a potential global economic hardship other than the obvious which is to hodl and accumulate as much as you can...

Apart from holding an accumulation of more Bitcoin what we can do is educate the local community about Bitcoin. Contacting the local merchants and informing them about Bitcoin. The local community would be reluctant to hear about it and merchants won't pay any heed at first but with a systematic and planned approach we can convince them about Bitcoin. By systematic and planned approach I meant that first, we need to learn more about Bitcoin and then share it with our local community members who have knowledge about global economic activities by introducing Bitcoin to them. Although I feel many within our surroundings would have some knowledge about Bitcoin. What we need to do is to clear the negative news about Bitcoin.
1459  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How valuable BTC has become overtime on: September 13, 2023, 11:54:36 AM
After watching the comparison, I went ahead and checked what was the price of the iPhone back in 2011. The 64 GB version had a price of $399, this was what was what they call now as iPhone Pro Max. The newly launched iPhone Pro Max in 2023 has a price of $1,199 in the US. So after 12 years, it came around to an annual inflation rate of 16.7%. Whereas Bitcoin as we all know inflation is not an issue with Bitcoin as seen in the chart posted by the OP.

I am wondering now what will happen after the next halving. Next year iPhone will again launch a newer version and that might well cost less than the present one. BTW, the new version has a powerful chip that you can play games that need a console. This is the first batch of iPhones that will have, Made in India marking on them.
1460  Other / Meta / Re: Fixing broken images on other's post? on: September 13, 2023, 10:48:04 AM
The problem is severe, almost all tutorial images were hosted on Imgur. None of those image links are working. For example, when you go through the tutorial for Electrum wallets they are all without images. If you read the contents of those tutorials it won't make any sense as they are related to the screenshot. Either a new set of tutorials needs to be created or the owners of those tutorial should have to fix those image links. As OP mentioned this [Script] Imgur to TalkImg - automatically fix your broken images can be used but it can be only done by those who wrote those tutorials.
