1441  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: shorten altcoins on: March 17, 2017, 12:47:14 AM
I wish to borrow 1,000,000 DASH.
And I have loads of BatCoin as collateral.

this thread about poloniex, this mean youre wish about borrow in poloniex
in polonex borrow must have balance coin in support margin trading
without balance you can not borrow in poloniex, you can borrow 2.5x from youre balance, this mean leverage in poloniex 2.5
and poloniex borrow you can not withdraw, you only use balance to trading

That day where someone discovers how to withdraw with leverage will be awesome Smiley
Those lendings are indeed coins that almost don't exist. Partial reserves alike, what we always wanted to avoid. What happens if they dump all margined coins on another exchange, driving prices down over there? Their own customers would be happy, rebuying cheaper. That's the first time I discovered that possibility. Not only exchanges can trade on their own site against their own customers, like brokers are frontrunning their own customers, but they could do it arbitrage styled.
How to detect that?

And if some site got caught in the act, how to do it any justice? On the long we need the exchange without exchange sites. Decentralized exchanges.
1442  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: shorten altcoins on: March 15, 2017, 11:59:03 AM
I too wish to sell coins of which I don not posses!

Someone please tell us how to do this.

Now.
Right Now.

Hey! No pressure ... gimme some time for stirring my coffee, thinking hard ... well that you can't on Poloniex is not exactly the truth.
They offer Margin Trading. This is basically lending funds, for the sole purpose of going short.
Another way would be asking for a loan inside this forum. One would be required to voice some reasoning and offer collateral.

But!
And it will kick one's butt, because illiquid markets can wildly swing into any direction, changing directions even twice a day. This likely places the whole master plan into grave dangers.
1443  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How many major cryptocurrencies do you think the world has room for? on: March 15, 2017, 11:46:17 AM
You know, Black coin uses some algorythms to manage the total available coins, it is not fixed in the blockchain, so it can change, they let people stack at a fixed %, and adapt the total coins to keep the inflation rate around 1%, even if it is not a stable rate, the inflation is contained to ~1%, you should check them.

BLK's third anniversary has been a dissaponting event, usually such hallmarks give an Alt some fresh wind in it's sails. The 1% appear smallish if you add the counter party risks of a technology that could run into unforeseen trouble any day.

DASH vs. XMR and "shady reputation" did the small denomination, worn out dollar paper bill lost on reputation? Because it sometimes collects up into carrying bags in high count? Money, in itself, has no moral nor rep. Big money for sure not. If some day a campaign pops up that tries to attack crypto on that level we all need to gang up and answer with comparisons taken from classical money worlds.
1444  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [vDice.io]►Ethereum Blockchain Gambling►►**New & Awesome Version of Site on: March 15, 2017, 02:10:22 AM
Just anyone starting to gamble there, please remember that you should not withdraw funds from an exchange directly to their address, in short must have the access to the private keys of the address that sent the payment.
I think this note must be attached on homepage but couldn't find this warning anywhere on the site.

Many newbies will just send ETH from their exchange platform and may not get any winning. I have personally used myetherwallet to generate ETH address where i withdrawn my ETH from poloniex (got it instantly) and than played with it.

So, it is actually like Satoshibones just as I used to say before. It's all about common sense of people and some don't have it, because it is obvious that when you play on an on-chain website, you need to send your funds through your own wallet and not an exchange. This site also makes me remember of Luckybit, an on-chain gambling site where everyone played through direct addresses, but once I sent some through an exchange by mistake and won something, but didn't get anything back.  Embarrassed

It's similar to withdrawing bitcoin directly to an address of your exchange. You also don't control it and can't prove it's yours, that's why it's common knowledge not to do such things. I don't think a warning is obligatory in this case.

Exchanges could tell you the privkey of your deposit address, BUT that should be handled like a withdrawal. And a new deposit address automatically generated. Technical reasons: Privkey allows moving coins, cannot be allowed to place these into the exchanger's orderbook AND sneakingly withrawing them at the right second.

I think that feature is needed in the future, otherwise new adopters get burned occasionally and that damages growing possibilities of the whole cryptocoins economy. No exchanger currently features that. Right line of thinking, or did I got something wrong?
1445  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How many major cryptocurrencies do you think the world has room for? on: March 15, 2017, 01:05:06 AM
Ok, but this returns only 4 Majors :

1- Bitcoin
2- Litecoin
3- result of ETH/ZCASH
4- result of ETC/ZCLASSIC
5- result DASH/XMR

Are these the only cryptos we know about ? how about lisk, wave, nxt, PPC ...

NXT retired, NXT 2.0 beeing ARDOR. This information is still valid?

PPC has brought us POS staking but the strange similarity of this list of 5 is they are all POW based, markets are happy about deflationary concepts. Which is just completely wrong from the fundamentals, since mining AND staking can produce the exactly same amount of newly generated coin supply (inflation). Just that stakers dont give a damn and dump, versus miners tend to hodl.

LSK is on my watching list. Can't tell much about WAVES, sorry.
Would add Byteball if it makes it onto any major tradesite. And now we derailed from "world has room for" onto "which place to reserve in your bags" Cheesy

@Febo: two coins each human beeing, and the deflationary limited supply concept is dust in the hot desert.
1446  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How many major cryptocurrencies do you think the world has room for? on: March 14, 2017, 03:33:59 PM
What would be these major currencies we are talking about ? BTC, LTC, ETH, XMR?, DASH?, ZCASH?

Both ETH and ZCASH show glacier calving effects, breaking into more pieces. ETC, Z Classic and more. Would shovel them into the longdrink glas of Major Failure if they cannot outperform their self generated competition.
The race between BTC and LTC seems over, stable distance between both. XMR vs. DASH ralley ongoing so far no clear victory announceable. Time will tell.
1447  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How many major cryptocurrencies do you think the world has room for? on: March 13, 2017, 11:30:38 PM
I can keep track of about 5 at the same time.

In fiat currencies there are about 5 major currencies (USD, EUR, GBP, CNY, JPY) I would only expect about 5 crypto currencies to be very sucessful if crypto is adopted worldwide.

The hundreds that are around now are generally junk, and will remain so.

Sinologists could point out the cultural borders in between the CNY area and us, but BTC completely gapless bridget over into china. Could not even imagine how they would paint the BTC on silk paper. My bet: it's allready an official Hani.
By the way your list is lacking RUR, and there is that border line between the USD influenced culture sphere and the RUR area, and BTC bridged over that gap, too. No cold war remnances hindering it.
From these observances I would take "national currency" from that list, merely the technological differences are valued by market forces.
1448  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [vDice.io]►Ethereum Blockchain Gambling►►**New & Awesome Version of Site on: March 13, 2017, 11:16:35 PM
Can anyone tell me how vdice and edgeless are different?

Who has the edge over the other?
Vdice is already proven as working ethereum smart contract based dice site while edgeless is just a newcomer and yet to deliver anything working. And rather than dice, i think they are going to launch a blackjack game over ethereum contract.

This beeing in production stage conquers a market, first mover advantage. The path of progress seems simple, others have to create more complex contracts/games to gain their share. Blackjack, roulette and onwards.
Guess what, there is at least 1 project announcing to redo "Fiverr" (some crowdworking platform) completely based on Ethereum platform. Same delivered nothing phenomenom so far, empty Github, they are three peoples and heading for end of 2017 for first releases. The exspectable level of complexity could stretch any currently imaginable limits.
1449  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][KMD][dPoW] Komodo - Zcash Zero Knowledge Privacy Secured by Bitcoin on: March 13, 2017, 05:57:24 PM
refund me my 0.2 BTC
ROFLMAO!   Grin
The high rollers arent happy lol.
Shit happens,
Its not the first and it wont be the last coin to have a hicup (inc. BTC)

They followed best practices "only invest what you can afford to loose". Gambler mentality is willing to risk somewhat more but got so often a dangerous handicap of calculating risk probabilities. Only fixating on the winning probability!

On the contrary, KMD notary nodes displayed why they are of existence.  To patrol any unscrupulous activities happening inside the blockchain. The past incident displayed how quick the response and the reaction of the team. For the record some had worse in the past but still recovered and made stronger stands. I don't see a disaster , I honestly see opportunities . KOMODO is a great project . A bug for exploits is a part of growing pains for any crypto projects . Dont despair KMD will recover and be more secure than before.

That summarizes it. Bitcoin still beeing alive after similar hiccups. So no worries, keep calm and carry on.
Don't ragequit sell woops sorry for that line, markets beeing halted and whatsnot.
1450  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Are you a bagholder? Which altcoins do you hold? on: March 13, 2017, 08:38:45 AM
Currently bagholding Komodo, made some profits and should have exited, but bought back in.
Now some 400lb hacker has found a bug and generated some free coins for himself, lets see what happens now..  Cheesy
How much "some free" ? Coinmarketcap shows trade at Bittrex came to a grinding halt just 2 hours ago. Now the other exchange "Cryptox" should plug the hole.
I thought the Komodo devs been no rookies !
1451  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: I have an idea. Need suggestions. on: March 12, 2017, 11:24:21 PM
Major question you may have to face soon after creating any tokens/coins for your investment schemes is how investors can be sure that what they are getting as profit is not less than the real profit you are making. Because what you are trying to invest in is completely offline business so there will be no way for other investors living in another part of world to investigate about legitimacy of your business.

This idea may be sensed as ponzi scheme like HYIP by many.

The crypo market might make your entry uneccessarily difficult because of doubts and former bad experiences. Some projects damaged the scene. I would hint at the classical crowdfunding http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_crowd_funding_services there are some like AgFunder, Cropital or Barnraiser suited exactly for your corner on the market. Linking an asset might add a high tech flavor to the presentation of the project when it gained pace using the "classical channels" but will not create it's initial momentum, I voice doubts.
1452  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Joberr.co - A blockchain based micro-job marketplace built on Ethereum on: March 12, 2017, 11:08:09 PM
Joberr is going to work exactly like Fiverr, where anybody can sell micro-jobs for a small fee (translations, paintings, composing songs, writing, etc).

Gratulations on the brand label, Fiverr somehow missed the goal by implying "five bucks" as a limit for their jobs. And undercutting the 20% processing fee by applying full automation (done by smart contracts) looks promising.

You got a blog, maybe one Dev could present himself? A name has been mentioned, Tristan. There is a PR personality?
1453  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Are you a bagholder? Which altcoins do you hold? on: March 12, 2017, 10:55:36 PM
In the past I was having some coins in which some scammed and the remaining I sold the reason is that I am nowadays busy in my studies and I share my timing in my studies and in bitcoin . So it will be better to focus on both of these as if I will choose for a coin to invest in I will need to study more and more about a number of coins so that I invest in a coin which have a potential to increase more higher in value and will not leave its community in the mid.
I got the same experience as you, most of the coin I baghold turned to be a P and D coins.  Though I can say I made a profit from it the time I sold them but I don't want to baghold such kind of coins.  Though I am still collecting different altcoins, I always tend to avoid bagholding too much coins.
It's just a fact that even if you refuse to hold them, and sell, they are not gone out of existance. Somebody picked them up from your sale offer. Reconsider your strategy ... of course every market bubbles up now and then, and you are missing your chance to sell at a good value.
Steady continual rise seems impossible inside the wild west segment of altcoins, the dillution exceeds the people's purchasing capacitie. Maybe "only Bitcoin" suits your demands, it is the better fit.
1454  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Are you a bagholder? Which altcoins do you hold? on: March 12, 2017, 04:18:37 PM
You should hold some Zclassic coins, so you'll get ZENCASH by the end or April Wink
You should have added some hint/pointer on where to get them, and conditions. Since I am mostly on Poloniex (most active Trollbox) there is no Zcash Classic listed even, that leaves me a bit reluctant to fetch some.
Any chance of the infamous "polo effect" kicking in ?
1455  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Are you a bagholder? Which altcoins do you hold? on: March 11, 2017, 02:44:16 PM
The recent Dash trend in price, has made me a good amount of profit, so I have benefited from holding it. Nevertheless, if only there was a way to get rid of coins which don't have market support or active development, then it would be great. But up until now, I guess that it would be up to baghold those altcoins. Just my thoughts.  Grin
It's unbelieveable, isn't it? Usually I only follow the trending coins, not hodling much. The topdown ten of the coinmarketcap are probably there for a longer time period.
On Dash you need a critical amount to participate in the Masternodes game. This is either a good example of customer conversion or a bad one because newbies no more get triggered to engage there. Entry barrier can kill a coin.
1456  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: LEVOPLUS - New digital currency that enables instant payments to everyone on: March 11, 2017, 02:20:26 PM
This is old coin.
Look at explorer.

Block: 19021

Which sounds like 95105 minutes on a "5 minute block targets" range, or 2 monthes. Still kinda new.
How is it supposed to be "instant payments" if there are 5 minutes?
I am starting to advocate a 3rd party payment provider for Bitcoins, solves the scaling issue and could work just like PayPal. Since the ETF dreams popped that's the more reasonable goalpost.
1457  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Do you think "iamnotback" really has the" Bitcoin killer"? on: March 10, 2017, 01:00:02 AM
No, just realistic. It's the most logic outcome. He really seem like a nice guy so i don't have anything against him. But do you really believe someone profficient in blockchain technology would stay on the sidelines for 7-8 years before actually doing anything ? Do you really think he used all this time to research and build something world changing in the blockchain space as he'd like to think ? All he did so far is point fingers and kept claiming how flawed every project is, without doing much himself. Hey, i can do that and i'm not a programmer.
So the logic outcome is this, assuming he wouldn't outright scam or deliver something insignifiant in an attempt to save face but that couldn't justify the hype nor the funds raised: eventually, with enough hype he can raise few million $, maybe. He then would take something like steem, change it a bit and that's it, best case scenario.
I can completely follow this logic. All puzzle parts falling into the right places. To my mind Anonymint would make a great addition in a bigger developper team where the others can set him back on track occasionally. XMR been imaginable at some point in time. That guy has potential, it's just wasted.
1458  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: How far do you think ETH will go? on: March 10, 2017, 12:55:19 AM
The real question is : How many capitalization will ETC drain from ETH ?

Vitalik is ETH. The other one, ETC, is nothing. Would a fork of Bitcoin be capable to sustain? I think not.
1459  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Gateless Gate: zawawa's open-source ZEC/ETH/XMR/PASC miner (453 sol/s on 7990) on: March 09, 2017, 01:09:51 PM
On stock: AMD Radeon HD 7850, somewhat dated
just 7990 getting mentioned in ANN so could I still employ my card? what to exspect in numbers?
am considering XMR and also ETH beeing a long term investment, not so much interested into the others. would mine & hodl
would have to get away from fglrx drivers first, some time investment.
1460  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Bancor Protocol - A Hierarchical Monetary System & Decentralized Exchange on: March 09, 2017, 12:03:51 PM
Maybe all this good idea, but for people need more information with images about your project

The image above, hippie money seems from another project Smiley first thought them to be kidding me.

I'm slacking behind the ANN how "algorithmically-calculated conversion rates" should work, and liquidity without trade volume, maybe the habits have grown to strong. Watching orderbooks all day, picking from buy or sell side, it is that simple. Could not tell you a fixed rate at any given point in time how could a formula do that? SMA or EMA kurves are followers only.
What/how/who/howmany of these reserve tokens will come into existance to fuel the exchange supply?
Honestly feeling like everybody in this thread, more questions than answers.

Any investment opportunity?
