1441  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Bricked 5970 XFX Black Edition on: August 17, 2012, 05:42:42 AM
Need help, I flashed XFX 5970 2gb Black Edition with 1gb BIOS and now it's bricked. Getting cable unplugged warning on boot. Anyone got some exp resolving this any help will be appreciated.

Thx!

Ah yes! I once flashed bios 1 to bios 2 and bios 2 to bios 1. Same error, no power connected and you can't get anywhere, even with a second card.

Solution? Simple (hopefully for you too) I found a setting in my bios for "halt on error" (can't remember exactly) but basically, there was a setting in there that I could tell the system to completely ignore errors on boot (I think specifically from add on cards etc). Hope this helps!

If not, PM me and we can work out you sending the card to me and I'll reflash it for ya.

Good luck, give us an update if it works!

Got a new PSU the other day. Now the rig runs on just two power supplies (yeah, it was three before). :/

From left to right: 5870 Xtreme, 5830 Xtreme, Ref. 5870, Vapor X 5850, Matrix 5870

Kim Dotcom got his assets unfrozen and moved them all to BTC so the feds can't touch it again.

I run 2 of mine on their sides, however I've got delta fans on them.

I'd call dev-kits custom.

The clue's in the name: Development Kit.

They're like, for development. They're not an end-user product. They are custom.
Even calling them COT is a stretch.

I'm comfortable with the forum name.

Dev kits are as custom as they come, but they're not custom mining hardware.
1448  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: ASICs vs BOTNETS on: July 09, 2012, 02:51:22 AM
So I've heard there are botnets running lots of hash. Are there any confirmed major hash sources that are botnets?

Based on the hash of the botnets, they are making a killing, and there's nothing we can do about it, however if/when the ASIC rolls out in force, the botnets will no longer be a significant portion of the hash.

This stands to gain (ASIC) players an even higher % of the pie.

What Say Ye? Vote Above

Botnet mining really isn't that profitable. Not everyone has good gfx cards and you will lose a lot of bots because of all the resources it takes mining 24/7. (Unless you have a afk miner, which cuts profits by a lot)

I've seen a botnet of roughly 2k bots (granted not 100% of bots weren't mining nor a 100% of the time) and he was making about 1btc a day. Not worth the risk IMO. Now if you got a bunch of gaming PCs I could see it turning semi-profitable. But not enough to be worth jail time.

2k bots... tiny botnet

39BTC shipped to Florida

Sorry, sold already. Updating topic now.

At what price did you sell it?

I've got 9 I'm going to be selling over the next few weeks as my 7970's arrive.

Hey DB (to be confused with Douche Bag).

I think these would fit your slimy hands just perfect.

1456  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: 7970 GHz Edition, with boost on: June 24, 2012, 07:53:37 AM
I'll be very interested to see where this card can overclock to. I'm running all mine at 1100/950 already, 1150/1000 isn't out of the question, so I would hope to see it hit 1200-1250
1457  Other / Off-topic / Re: BFL Quality Control on: June 24, 2012, 07:49:23 AM
I mean no offense to old ladies.  But THIS IS THE PERSON who BFL has doing quality control?!!?!?!?!?  That explains why GigaVPS mini-rig died in one freaking day LOL  --

WHERE is the Antistatic wrist band? Can't imagine that BFL chose to ignore basic safety measures.

I've been tearing apart and repairing computers and electronics for 15 years and I've never once fried anything due to static. I've tried intentionally to fry things with static, to no avail. My brother did fry his ethernet port on his laptop due to static, but that's not exactly a situation you'd expect to use a wrist band anyway.

***UPDATE***

4-6 weeks
1459  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Lead time on current products? on: June 24, 2012, 06:32:11 AM
I just ordered a BFL Single (the FPGA one, not ASIC). What kind of time am I looking at before getting it?

BFL Hasn't given any information about the lead times for the FPGA, there are no threads which go over the lead time. If you search, you won't be able to find any information either.

We as a community are here to help. We have several investigators currently dispatched to BFL headquarters, they will be arriving within the hour, though high winds may delay the drop from the aircraft.
1460  Other / Off-topic / Re: BitForce SC - Pre Order List on: June 24, 2012, 04:05:17 AM
I understand what BFL is saying when they want to give Bit-Pay the first round of pre-orders.  But why would they also accept bank wire transfers?  Are they doing it just because those are the two non-reversible payment options?  They can obviously take Pay-Pal because they take it on there other products.  Seems really sketchy to me.  I can't believe this many people are willing to throw money at BFL without even so much as a picture of what they are buying.

Seriously. I mean, have they even shipped any real products yet? And if they did, they probably only shipped those products to gain people's confidence so they'd make a huge haul and then disappear.

Where's my tinfoil hat.
