It turns out Mt. Gox. shutting down was a bad idea in retrospect, when they shutdown the downwards lag-crash was about to recover and go up and lag was coming down. Now it's just a crazy free-for-all ![](https://ip.bitcointalk.org/?u=https%3A%2F%2Fi.imgur.com%2FdDdK5Hd.jpg&t=663&c=WcWQgN9_ilLNrQ) +1 to this. It WAS going up. It had bottomed out at 112 and there were some big buys happening and an earnest climb back up. They should have waited for when the whole market wasn't watching in fear as it was lingering at a hotspot bottom. Another questionable decision from MtGox. its gr8! its raining coins everywhere now, buy them out on the cheap and then when mtgox reopens watch what limited supply and high demand does to price

Might sound silly but is there ANY chance mt.gox could shutdown and run off with our money?
lol no chance. the are a registered, 100% legit business, with employees. they can't just cut and run....

i would expect to see UP DOWN UP DOWN UP DOWN UP DOWN UP DOWN for a while once it reopens.
clearly their will be lot of money to be made for those who have the balls to try and stablize the price, by buying when they think its low and selling when they think its high.
|
|
|
They're probably troubleshooting/testing connections or some such task.
a reasonable explanation...

the true government conspiracy behind bitcoin is that it was created by the government the US saw that it was going to lose its status as world reserve currency, so they made bitcoin, they put a half ass versoin of the code into to the wild, to make it look like it was born from the Ghetto because they knew people would relate to that. they don't mine any bitcoin because they knew people could figure out the a goverment building was atively minning bitcoin... instead they have been buying all the bitcoins that come up a any exchange site. ![Kiss](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/kiss.gif) soon they will just have the president give some stupid speech about how he thinks competitive currency's like bitcoin is a good thing, that day the dollar will collapse, which means the US can pay back its loans in worthless dollars, and keep all the bitcoins! fucking beautiful!

what i find funny is when he says that the people that created bitcoin are "Billionaires FOR SURE"
wait a minute, the whole market cap for bitcoin just recently went over 1 Billion...

Is it actually over? Or are we going to see a gradual decline like last time
I believe the market will not be doing a long slide down like last time... 2011 was a different age. back then buying bitcoin was true speculation ( there was very little you could actually do with a bitcoin, and there was very few drugs on SR... ) this time around the market is less about speculative investment and more about giving bitcoin a fair valuation given all these cool start-ups now making money with the bitcoin. the reason for the crash is the same, early adopter taking profit and hoping to cause panic to buy back lower. i do not believe there is any reason to panic. i do not believe the seller will have the opportunity to buy back lower.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=172944.0Could it be! Gox was down because of authentic traffic? All the other charts and sites were magically but naturally stressed!! Gonna have to hit up comboy and see why he was down! Someone hit up clarkmoody and see if he was DDOSed! Where is theymos!? Ask him if bitcointalk was DDOSd today!!? the forums were lagging like mad for me all day, and sometimes the forums didn't respond at all. is it because of to many people hitting the forums all at once? or was it DDOS... is their a way to distinguish between DDOS and a million noobs hitting refresh?
