14401  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Best security measures for a computer with pirated software? on: January 04, 2018, 03:08:54 PM
I doubt you can find a lot of computers who have 100% legit software installed,

Untrue.  All of my computers have only “100% legit” software installed, because all of my computers run 100% open-source.

Not that I give a damn about copyrights for my personal usage.  I simply refuse to touch any software as for which I cannot read and modify the source code.  And, yes:  I am one of the few people who actually uses the source, rather than only navel-gazing and pontificating about it.  In practical use, having the full sources available has saved me from many problems which would otherwise have left me helpless.  (I also scrupulously observe copyrights/licenses for any code I build upon, so as to not cause trouble for other people who use my code.)

What do you think how many people can afford to pay for software or to have knowledge to do what you do?Statistic say that 2 of 5 copies of every software used in 2017 is unpaid so almost 40% of used software is not legit. It would be expected that countries like USA,Germany or UK are not in top 20 countries by using piracy software but they are, what to say about some third world countries where piracy rate is above 80%.

14402  Economy / Services / Re: HorusConfirmTX.com - Free Bitcoin transaction accelerator on: January 04, 2018, 02:44:42 PM
Quote
we update design and going to add more pools for acceleration and improve of service.
what your fees on txids ?

This is not my transactions so I will not post details, but one transaction have pay over 60$ for fee, even fee per byte is too low for size of transaction. Now is over 48 hours I submited 2 transaction and both are still unconfirmed.

I try antpool accelerator few times but it is never work for me,like other free services out there except ViaPool which also not work these days for me.So if you sending something only way to get confirmations in a reasonable time is to pay a recommended fee.
14403  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Is Ledger Nano S REALLY SAFE ?? Best Hardware Wallet ? on: January 04, 2018, 02:20:29 PM
Anyone knows how is with security if you were using Ledger Nano S on EtherDelta (ED)?
As I heard ED was hacked. Someone replaced their domain with his and he got private keys from users (users typed/generated private key on ED in order to start trading).

So how's that if you were using Ledger Nano S on ED? I understand that he can't confirm transactions since you need to use physical button to approve it.
But did he get your private key/ seed? Could he import that in another Ledger Nano S wallet and send funds from there? Can PIN code prevent that?

Is there something owner of ledger wallet could/should do in this case? Are there any cases in which your private key/mnemoric seed would get exposed and stolen from Ledger Wallet, example: if you are using My Ether Wallet with Nano S and someone would replace their domain?

When you generate your 24 word seed on Ledger Nano S this should be written on a piece of paper, make few copy and store in safe place. This seed is not for share with nobody, but if you give this to someone, then it is easy to use that seed to generate your wallet.

You can not import private key in Ledger Nano S,it will only accept seed created by Ledger or Trezor(as far as I know). If you use Ledger with other wallets like Electrum, your private keys/seed is never leaves device and you always need to confirm sending address on Ledger display before confirm sending.

Hardware wallets are best option for keeping your coins safe for long term and also for daily use.
14404  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum - LTC not received on: January 04, 2018, 12:05:15 PM
Thank you very much for your reply! Hope you can help me figure out!

1/ Electrum-LTC synced properly, green dot in the bottom, block number 1344407.

Payment is in blockchain on correct address: http://explorer.litecoin.net/address/La8kyDYaSgFpfMENg3PPt56e93LhVuPkYb
Same address in Electrum-LTC: https://imgur.com/a/XJdHm

Is your Electrum-LTC synced up properly? Green dot in the bottom right corner? If you goto "Tools -> Network"... do you see the number of blocks? Is that number >= 1344259 (current LTC blockheight)?

Finally, are you sure you transferred to the correct address and correct wallet? Was it an "L" or "M" address? or was is a "3" address?

I notice that you use old Electrum LTC version 2.6.4.2 and latest is 2.9.3.1 : https://electrum-ltc.org/ so problem is probably in outdated version of wallet or in server you are connected. It would be wisely that you upgrade to latest version(backup wallet data/seed before that) and see if this solve problem.Since your transaction have 200+ confirmations problem is on your side.

You can try to click on green dot and uncheck automatic connect to server, and choose a server manually from the list-but better is to upgrade to latest version.
14405  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: how can i use my electrum wallet despite cleared authenticator? on: January 04, 2018, 11:41:57 AM
Hi everyone,
I'm new here and have a question about the authenticator and the electrum wallet. I got a new phone and forgot to back up my google authenticator data. I read that I can take the confirmation also the mnemonic words, but unfortunately not, there is only a window on where the waletadresse is inside. So what can I do to get my coins back?

1000 thx

Do you have your seed words written down?If you have them then you can solve this problem by creating a new wallet in Electrum / Select :

File - New/Restore / Standard wallet - I already have a seed - Enter your seed - After that you will be given option to keep or disable 2FA.If you pick second option you should get access to your wallet without 2FA.There is a possibility that this will not work 100% because some others users have problems, but you should try this and see can you get access to your wallet.
14406  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-01-03] 2018 To Be The Year Of SegWit on: January 04, 2018, 11:06:12 AM
This is very good and positive news for BTC regarding SegWit,especially when we see that LocalBitcoins.com is finally supporting this option and Coinbase is announced it for this year.As soon Coinbase enable SegWit I think blockchain.info wallet will follow and with these two wallets/exchanges we should see some improvements with fees and faster confirmations.

Although list of supporting wallets/services is not too big in this moment, such news are signs we are still making progress in the right direction. It is also nice that good news are coming from developers of Lightning Network which is in the final testing phase and things look promising.
14407  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin rises after report says early Facebook investor Peter Thiel buy bitcoins on: January 04, 2018, 10:39:03 AM
He bought BTC long time ago as article say, investment was 15-20 million $ and today it is worth hundred millions $,so he maybe bought that BTC in time when others big investors like Tim Draper invest same amount in BTC in year 2014.

Bitcoin market reacts on every news, good or bad-but i think this news did not have a major impact on price,we are again below 15k$.I think there is many big investors who bought BTC in last 2-3 years, but it is normal that most want to be anonymous.

I test your service yesterday with 2 transactions and it say "Your transaction have been accelerated!",but after 24 hours both transaction are still unconfirmed. But I see that it takes up to 48 hours for fee above 0.5$ so I will wait.

14409  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: how to deal with higher fees on: January 03, 2018, 02:33:23 PM
It is true that for some small transactions BTC is not good solution in this moment and we need to search for an alternative, some altcoin or PayPal are options which should be used until we get Lightning Network. Also if you have possibility to use SegWit that should reduce fees which are now around 510 satoshis/byte for fastes transaction, which is much better then some two weeks ago.

Unfortunately number of unconfirmed transaction is again growing after getting close to 100k,but I think this is only because of less using over the holidays.I do not know if blockchain.info is showing accurate data, but transactions per second is showing 100+ currently, what certainly does not look bad.
14410  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Accessing Windows 10 desktop wallet from Android on: January 03, 2018, 02:00:34 PM
Makes sense. Many thanks.

Shouldnt it be possible to import the pc wallet using Android app's 'Import Bitcoin addresses or private keys' route to creating a new wallet ?

I never use Electrum for Android OS,but if you see option for import private keys then it should be possible to do it.If you import only address then you can create "watch only wallet",with import of private key you can see your balance-transaction and send /receive BTC.But if you import private keys from Electrum which is HD(hierarchical deterministic) wallet you on some way expose your seed because all private keys are generated from seed.

So when you have HD wallet like Electrum,Trezor or Ledger it is best to use only seed for recovery-import to new wallet. But if you trust your android phone to store private keys you can try that option, otherwise only other(safe option)is to create new Electrum wallet(new seed)send BTC in transaction and use that seed on android.
14411  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Best security measures for a computer with pirated software? on: January 03, 2018, 11:03:06 AM
Hi All, I have a regular computer with antivirus that has been relatively stable for years.  Some of my software are not exactly 100% legit as far as I can tell.

I have half of my tokens on a ledger nano s, and half of them on exchanges.

Are my coins on the exchanges pretty safe if I use 2FA?  How do most of you go about it?  I'm sure I'm not the only one with some pirated software on their computer so just wondering what your approach is.

I doubt you can find a lot of computers who have 100% legit software installed, but this should not be threat to you since you use hardware wallet and so far there is no reports of such wallet is hacked,so your coins are pretty safe(just double check your sending address on Ledger/Ledger App always).

Regarding exchanges you know that your coins are not safe there 100% even if the greatest possible security measures are taken, but with 2FA you are secured your account in the best possible way.Exchanges can always be hacked, your balance can be frozen for some reason-but this is risk you must take if you want to trade.
14412  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: bitcoin prices not rising! should we trade or hold? on: January 02, 2018, 02:31:11 PM
it was predicted that bitcoin prices would fall in the last week of 2017 and rise in the first week of 2018 but none of that has happent rather the price has beet pretty stable around 13500 usd.
what are your opinion on this,is it the time to trade or hold because i dont have enough funds to buy or invest more.

I think it is good time for trade if you have some BTC on exchanges and you watch price these days.Price is moving from 12 000$ to 14 000$ and only thing you should do to make profit is to sell at high level and buy up again when it touch the lowest level. So it is easy 2000$ for sell/buy 1BTC in that price range, but you need to take risk when trading-if you sell at 14 000$ price may go up and you can lose the opportunity to buy back.

Although it seems that this is a very favorable period for such trading, but we never know when new pump can start and price can go up few thousands $ in a few days.
14413  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: HELP!!! Electrum NOT ONLINE and NEVER receive my coins again on: January 02, 2018, 02:10:42 PM
I'm totally new to Electrum. I searched online and setup an old version of it (ver 2.4.1). I then had a deal with a guy, he agreed to send me 10 coin.
I gave him the address of my Electrum wallet. BUT JUST UNTIL THEN, I REALIZE THAT I CANNOT GO ONLINE.

I checked the Block Explorer of the Address and realized that the transaction was done but in the Electrum wallet, balance was still 0 ('cause it would never be online  Shocked Shocked ). I tried to down a newest version of Electrum, using the old seed but the coins would never come back again  Cry Cry Cry .

Do anybody know how to take back the coins, i'd really, really be thankful if there's some suggestion.  Cry Cry

Why you download such old version of Electrum wallet when there is so many newer versions available? When you say that you can not go online do you mean your wallet is not sync(do you see green or red dot in right corner?)

If you download legitimate version of Electrum from : https://electrum.org/#home you should see you balance if transaction is confirmed. If wallet have problem with sync(red dot) then you should click on that dot and uncheck automatic server option, and choose manually any other server from list.

Latest version V 3.0.0+ will not work in Windows 7&8,so if you using that OS use 2.9.3 version.
14414  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Help - I've just lost my Bitcoin! on: January 02, 2018, 11:43:17 AM
flippener before this incoming transaction which is now gone your Electrum wallet is empty?I see you send all your BTC before and in that moment everything is normal-but after that did you upgrade your Electrum wallet because I see you are using latest 3.0.3 version?

I think you are download fake Electrum 3.0.3 version maybe and it is just waiting for any incoming transaction,it is happen to many others users because there is so many fake sites which pay to Google to place their ad on the top of search results.Check here : https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2660792.0

If this is not case then you exposed your private keys/seed somewhere where you did not to do that.Too bad that you did not change withdraw address on Poloniex to your primary wallet.

14416  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Accessing Windows 10 desktop wallet from Android on: January 02, 2018, 10:31:36 AM
Thanks for having a look at this.
But ...tried half a dozen times now.

Seed words are easy to get right since the app gives a list of qualifying words after initial letters entered.

Electrum v 3.0.3.0 on Android

   I already have a seed

Entered 12 word seed phrase (correctly)

   'Next' button never enables.

This same 12 word seed created wallets on two different Windows 10
computers without a problem.

One thing that might affect this is that the wallet and seed phrase
was originally created on a desktop in the Multibit HD software and then
transferred to Electrum using the specific Multibit import facility Electrum provides.
I'm thinking maybe the seed phrase is one that is only enabled on PC because it comes from a Multibit wallet, and the Android app does not have that facility??

(In which case you are probably going to tell me to create a new Electrum PC wallet, send the funds to that and then open an Android wallet with the new wallet's seed phrase. Would prefer to avoid the transaction costs but will do this if that's what's happening).

Thanks

Problem is in derivation paths, since you use seed which is created in MultiBit HD and you recover your wallet in Electrum with that seed, but desktop version have option to select derivation paths and in android version there is no such option.

Like you say only way to have same seed on desktop&android version of Electrum wallet is to create new Electrum wallet with new seed and send your BTC to that wallet in transaction-then you can use that seed on android version and you will see your balance&transaction.
14417  Economy / Speculation / Re: 01/01/2018 BTC $10k ? on: January 01, 2018, 02:22:15 PM
Nothing specifically happened on the first day of New Year, price is moving around 13k$ level and yesterday is touch 14K$ again for short time.Looking at the past few days 10k$ is unlikely that will happen because every time when it is close to 12k$ it is bounce back and stay for some time between 13-14k$.

Unconfirmed transaction is close to 100k which is significant improvement from almost 300k we have recently, and fee is also drop to 490 satoshis/byte.But this is just because of New Year's Eve and celebrations around the world, little relief for blockchain.
14418  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Bitcoin ATM Is Coming at a Location Near You??? on: January 01, 2018, 12:50:49 PM
http://www.bitcoinblogger.com/2011/07/bitcoin-atm-is-coming-at-location-near.html

If the cards fall into place bitcoin ATMs may be on the way.

There are many annoyances with bitcoin including the following:

1.) Bitcoins are very difficult to obtain on the Internet.
2.) It is near impossible for an average user to generate bitcoins with his or her computer.
3.) Technical skill is required to obtain bitcoins via an online exchange.
4.) If money is sent from a bank account to an online exchange then the transaction is no longer anonymous and that money can be traced.
5.) Sending cash in the mail for bitcoins could take days, weeks, or not at all and is unreliable.

What is the solution to these many problems? Multiple teams within the United States are attempting to build and distribute ATMs in mass quantities. ATMs will allow bitcoins to be distributed anonymously with cash without the need for an exchange. With bitcoin ATMs it will only be a drive away before an average person can buy bitcoins! The value of bitcoin will skyrocket once a non-technical user can buy bitcoins as easy as buying local goods.

There are many ways to distribute bitcoins with an ATM and each development team is handling them uniquely. I could explain in further detail in how these bitcoin ATMs would work, but to protect the business interests of my sources I am going to remain quite for now. Who will win the race to provide the best bitcoin ATM with the most locations?

Here is an early attempt of one team hacking open an eBay bought ATM:

http://biticon.wordpress.com/2011/03/31/bitcoin-atm/
http://biticon.wordpress.com/2011/04/16/atm-progress/

If data on this link are accurate https://coinatmradar.com/country/226/bitcoin-atm-united-states/ then in this moment there is a 1290 ATMs in USA and this is the largest number of BTC ATMs in one country. This is for some easy way to buy/sell BTC,but in most cases very expensive way because of high fees(average 9.21%).

Every initiative that can help in a way that BTC becomes more accessible is commendable, but current situation with high fee and slow transaction+fee taken by service make purchases of BTC through ATMs very expensive.

First link is not shows any content.
14419  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Your New Year Resolutions for Bitcoin in 2018? on: January 01, 2018, 11:02:29 AM
Not much more than what I have done so far,try to get as much BTC and some other altcoins and learn more about cryptocurrency.I wish that some solution for scalability problem appears this year and that we can move forward.

In general I not look BTC future in short term because I have no plans to sell in next 5-10 years and I do not care about bans from some countries.BTC is much more then one or two country of several individuals, power of BTC is in people who believe in it as the first decentralized currency in the world.

This year will certainly be interesting, more or less than last year time will tell Smiley
14420  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Transfer Bitcoin through wallets in Electrum on: January 01, 2018, 10:39:12 AM
Can I import the bitcoin in a new wallet  with the private key and then change this private keys?

When you import private key in wallet you also import address which is related to that private key,so you just change wallet but address and private key remain the same.If you want to move your BTC to new address you need to send them on transaction to new address, then with that address you will get new private key.

I do not know what exactly you want to achieve with "changing of private key",but if you care about privacy then you shoud know that Electrum will always give you new address for receive BTC,and when you send it will use change address.

I recommend you read about how things work with Electrum : http://docs.electrum.org/en/latest/
