14421  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Buy Litecoin today - 31/12/17 ? on: December 31, 2017, 02:12:44 PM
As many others altcoins LTC is increase its value more then 50 times in very short time, and it is one of few coins who can survive for long term next to BTC.For that reason I think it is good to invest some money in LTC even today at price of 220$,but it may go lower if BTC price start droping to 10k$ level.

For me personally last day of the year is not good for business and it is better to have some fun and good time-LTC will be on market in next year, and maybe price will go down.
14422  Economy / Speculation / Re: Hey guys do you think that Bitcoin price will continue decreasing ? on: December 31, 2017, 11:45:17 AM
Price just have correction from unsustainable 19 000$ level to 12 000$-14 000$ level where it is these days, and for now it seems that will be there for some time.If you are in cryptocurrency for some time such a development of events is not anything that should to surprise you,but many fresh buyers who bought BTC in the range from 15 000$-20 000$ start to panic selling in the moment price go down.So even price is recover to 16 000$ few days ago selling orders are just crushed that level very fast.

I think that most of buyers from 15k$-20k$ sell what they have, and some others wait some price increase to sell again, but in overall price should be stay above 10 000$ level.
14423  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2017-12-30] Payment Provider Bitrefill Runs Successful Lightning Transaction Te on: December 31, 2017, 11:23:12 AM
As we can see Lightning Network is a very hot topic these days, and that is quite understandable because BTC have big problem with scalability.Since SegWit has not succeeded so far to solve this(mainly the fault of exchanges),LN is something that is imposed as the only solution. The biggest question is when it will become available for using, and we know it will not be before wallets providers&exchanges give green light.

Considering time which is past from SegWit availability and it is now 5 months,it is hard to expect that we may have LN in first six months of next year. But if there is desire and determination to do that, then it is possible that this happens earlier.

In the example of Bitrefill is clearly visible that things can develop fast and successfully, just imagine if others do the same thing.Unfortunately things are developing too slowly and we can only hope that developers will switch to higher speed in next year.

14424  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin will trade under $5,000, warns Dennis Gartman on: December 31, 2017, 10:59:41 AM
You do know that Dennis Gartman is the best-known contrarian indicator on Wall Street?

Quote
I'm so glad that I sold the last of my gold position on Friday. There isn't any reason to be on the same side of a Dennis Gartman trade, not now, not ever.

Have a search through the @zerhedge Twitter feed to see his history of calling every top and bottom of the oil market. He buys high and sells low without fail.

Can we compare oil and BTC market?I do not think that makes any sense and prediction from Mr.Dennis is only one pure speculation like many others before. What we see now is so many prediction like this one, just few weeks ago the situation was completely different and many predict 20k$ + as something inevitably at the end of this year.

Even if we see BTC at 5000$ again(I personally do not believe it will happen)this will not be end of BTC,just new opportunity to buy at low price.Mr.Dennis have two things in which he believes, dollar and oil-better to stick to that.
14425  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2017-12-29] From $900 to $20,000: Bitcoin's Historic 2017 Price Run Revisited on: December 30, 2017, 02:42:03 PM
If you would have told me that this year we would reach near $20k levels, I would probably think you're mentally challenged. It just shows how much impact a higher level of adoption has on this market, and that we're by far not there yet. I am however almost certain that we won't be able to re-experience like 1500-2000% growth rates within a year again. I think we should be happy with a 100% increase at minimum per year, which means that we will almost reach $100k somewhere in 2020 with a few corrections calculated in, which seems quite realistic to me. I'm definitely looking forward to further user and institutional adoption in the coming year. Wink

Exactly, who could ever thought that it was possible to achieve such price increase in only one year-and even price is go down from 20k $ level it is still great achievement to be above 10k $ at the end of this year.I also think that we should not be expected to see such high price increase in next year, but some predict 40k $ with correction to 20k $.In my opinion only 50% growth rate would be quite enough to get us to 100k $ at the year 2023,and very close to 1 million $ in next 10 years.

What I still want to see more then price increase in next year is some solution to this insane scalability problem,I doubt we can go ahead while we have this kind of situation.Maybe this is not problem for big players, but for ordinary people who send/receive small transactions it certainly is.
14426  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Stolen or lost BTC with Electrum Wallet on: December 30, 2017, 02:02:02 PM
I foud the fake site just typing "electrum wallet" on google (i am using www.google.com.br) or just "electrum".
To me the fake appears o top, above the correct site. Is the first site on this search....
That's probably an ad.

It is common for scammers to pay Google so their fake website can be shown above the real website. The same happened with BitMixer and now is happening with ChipMixer.

Everybody can help by reporting the website to google with this form: https://safebrowsing.google.com/safebrowsing/report_phish/

I just use google search for "Electrum" and get one of the fake sites at the top of the page,it is paid advertising and it is big problem for crypto community.Since Electrum is one of the most popular wallets we can only imagine how many people are deceived and lost their money.

I will definitely report each of these fake pages and I hope Google will do something about that quickly.I do not know it is possible but they should not allow any advertising with "electrum" in the name of the site.
14427  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Problem bitcoin unconfirmed, move from multibit to electrum on: December 30, 2017, 01:50:33 PM
Hello !

Is it normal that I have unconfirmed bitcoin in my multibit wallet ? What does it mean and what can I do to solve this problem ? You can see the screenshot with the URL below Smiley Sorry my wallet is in french ! Thanks a lot for your help ! My transactions was a long time ago, on January 2016 and I think that Multibit is not working anymore.

Have a nice day!

Hugo

MultiBit is outdated and it is not working for a long time, there is no developers support. So you say that you send BTC from MultiBit to Electrum in January 2016,do you have that Electrum wallet today?

If you have your seed or private keys it is best to import them in Electrum https://electrum.org/#home (be careful, many fake sites) and then you will see your balance.Probably MultiBit is broken and does not show the real state of things.

To create new Electrum wallet with MultiBit seed follow these instructions : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E-KcY6KUVnY
14428  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin domination era is over? on: December 30, 2017, 11:49:55 AM
when a coin worth less than $2 is getting close to bitcoin which is above $13000 and you are talking about dominance, you have to start thinking something is wrong with what you are saying!

i mean seriously you are talking about taking over bitcoin with a coin worth $2. where in the world does that sound like a "take over"?

not to mention how centralized they both are and how it keeps pulling out billions of token out of their ass. Cheesy

People just look at the numbers and they do not see the overall picture,it only shows that it is very easy to manipulate with the market. Many altcoins see their chance to push forward in this hard time for BTC regarding slow transaction and high fees.Since most users are in crypto world just for quick profit and they look only numbers such headlines do not surprise me personally.

I do not see any other coin on that marketcap which has a long-term future, but developers in BTC world have to take some action urgently and start to solving scalability problem-without some improvements in this regard it is difficult that progress can be made.
14429  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: I just lost one of my 24 seed phrase on ledger nano s, please help! on: December 30, 2017, 10:54:15 AM
Guys please help me, I dont know how to retrieve that missing word, Im so worried right now, and its almost 2100 words generated inside the ledger nano s, which means I have to try about 2100times to restore it, it could take forever and its kiing me right now Embarrassed Embarrassed

Do you still have control on your wallet, can you access to your coins? If that is the case then is best to send your coins to other wallets and reset your Ledger Nano S to make new seed.In order to to that, after your coins are in new wallet you just need to enter incorrect pin 3 times and then start with setup to create new seed.

If you do not have access to your wallet and you lost one of the seed words I think you have big problem, maybe you have some chance to get that lost word-but you will need to know where is that missing word in sequence of 24 words.
14430  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Stolen or lost BTC with Electrum Wallet on: December 29, 2017, 05:20:09 PM
In your first post you post link to official site of Electrum and now you say that you download it from this fake site, so it is fake wallet who steal your BTC and nothing else. But it is good that you admitted your mistake so we know what it is all about, unfortunately you pay high price just because you did not check is this site is real or fake.

There are lot of such sites, and no matter how many of them are closed new ones appear constantly.Stealing of cryptocurrency has become a very lucrative business...
14431  Economy / Speculation / Re: Is this a good advice? on: December 29, 2017, 02:16:38 PM
Bitcoin price is rising up in rocket speed and penny-pinching mind is always yelling that hold.. hold and hold your Bitcoins. Don't convert to fiat or spend them. But, there's a big risk...what to do?. This is a question somebody asked me today.

I didn't answer at him, but, thought deeply about that and got the following mind.

If you've 10BTC convert 5BTC into fiat and wait until the remainder is reaching to 10BTC and do the same again.

Is this a good advice?

This is something everyone has to decide for themselves and depends on a few things. Some people just want to profit from BTC in short term, others have plan to hold for long time.If you have 10BTC and need money for something there is nothing wrong to sell 5BTC or more/less amount.

If you invest in BTC, holding is always risky in terms of price, you can lose money or you can profit from that. For people who can not live with such risk BTC is not option for investing, better buy gold or something like that.

I am not sure what you want to say with convert 5BTC in fiat, when you sell them you have only left 5BTC-you think to sell that remaining 5BTC when they double price or what?
14432  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Stolen or lost BTC with Electrum Wallet on: December 29, 2017, 11:39:21 AM
If the wallet is download from official site then we can conclude that problem is not in fake wallet. What is most likely that you have some keylogger/malware on your PC which is wait to steal something from you,and your Electrum seed is became a valuable target.

From where you send those 2 transactions, desktop wallet or online/exchange?Since other wallets on your PC are intact maybe hacker is just targeting BTC and not altcoins you have in other wallets.

However if you 100% sure you have original Electrum and this is happen, you have something bad on your PC.Make a backup of everything you need and format disk-make a clean install of OS.Use proven antivirus+firewall and Malwarebytes Premium, never click on suspicious links or download unverified things.People who use cryptocurrency have become valuable and easy targets these days-hardware wallets,or cold storage(paper wallets) are the only way to prevent this sort of thing.
14433  Other / MultiBit / Re: export MultiBit wallet to Bitcoin core on: December 29, 2017, 11:05:14 AM
Thank you Lucius
It seems to be working fine.
I see the right Transactions but the Balance zero as it still synchronizing.
Thanks again

You're welcome Smiley

Since blockchain size is almost 150 GB it now only depends on your internet speed to wallet is fully sync.Regarding private keys HCP gave you an answer and I hope you import all your private keys so you can get control on total amount of BTC you have in MultiBit wallet.
14434  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BCH VS BTC FEES. on: December 29, 2017, 10:43:51 AM
Only a few days ago I claim my BCH using ElectronCash wallet and I decided to test speed of transactions and fee.I have to admit I was really surprised when wallet is set recommended fee at only 2260 satoshi so I try to doubling this amount to 5000 satoshi and send transaction.First confirmation is under 1 minute which is incredibly fast if we compare it with BTC.I thought I might have had luck so I try few more transaction with same fee and all are get first confirmations under 1 minute.

I think some things are obvious here, and even I am not supporter of BCH the fact is that fee in BTC are astronomically high in comparison with BCH.Only way to solve this is Lightning Network, but no one ever knows when it will become available.

14436  Economy / Speculation / Re: Attention! BTC is heading for 8K! on: December 28, 2017, 02:36:18 PM
From 14 000$ to 8000$ just like that,in what time frame your analyst predict this drop?

I personally do not believe this will happen, although I always leave the possibility that everything is possible when it comes to BTC.In the last few days BTC is go up to 16 000$ and then drop down again, what only shows that is not the time for upward trends.

It is hard for me to expect that 10 000$ level can be broken in some easy way-maybe some very bad news in combination with huge spam on blockchain can result in such a fall.

Predictions&Speculations for altcoins should not be posted here/there is appropriate subforum for that : https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=224.0
14437  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum 3.0.2 Bitcoins missing on: December 28, 2017, 02:08:18 PM
How long you use Electrum 3.0.2,are you maybe make update of old version recently and maybe download fake wallet?Only site for download Electrum wallet is https://electrum.org/#home and if you download from any other site you will get fake version which steal your BTC.

Do you have copy of your seed/private keys on your PC or did you share it with anyone?

If it is none of the above then you get infected by keylogger or RAT virus,it get remote access to your PC and wait to you enter password in your Electrum-then it was easy for hacker to send all coins to his address.

Is your balance now 0 or you see something? If it is 0 then I doubt that anyone can help you...
14438  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is dropping! what to expect?! on: December 28, 2017, 01:39:51 PM
Bitcoin is dropping! what to expect?!

https://www.bloomberg.com/…/bitcoin-drops-as-south-korea-sa…

I found this very interesting article on the web, check it out and let me know what you think Smiley

I think you should post it in Press section in the right way, link is just open Bloomberg main page.

You are new so you think that BTC is dropping and this is some news, for days price is in range from 13 000$ to 16 000$ and it will take some time until it stabilizes. So there is nothing strange in this price movement, although it is pretty dramatic for some to see that price go down few thousands of dollars in one day-but this is BTC.

For all of you who think the price is low, that BTC is dead or that South Korea means something, just check what was the situation at the beginning of the year and what it is now.In terms of price, amazing progress Smiley

14439  Other / MultiBit / Re: export MultiBit wallet to Bitcoin core on: December 28, 2017, 11:10:04 AM
Hi,

Is it possible to export MultiBit wallet to wallet.dat ordert to use it with Bitcoin core?
Or any other way to access to my MultiBit wallet with Bitcoin core (bitcoin-qt) ?

How much is known to me that is not possible because they use different format of wallets.Only way is to import private keys from Multibit to Bitcoin Core.To do that you first need export them form Multibit and keys must not be encrypted, then you can import private keys in Bitcoin Core.

Follow this procedure in Bitcoin-QT : Select Help - Select Debug Window - Select Console -  input box type importprivkey <your key>.

If you only have Multibit wallet.dat file you will need first to load that file in Multibit wallet in order to export private keys.

14440  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: how much money have you cashed out from bitcoin on: December 28, 2017, 10:49:09 AM
Given the potential that BTC have in future I think that it is not time to cash out at this time, especially for those who have a small amount. But there is people who need money and they sell all just to have for decent life, others hold and maybe pay something direct with BTC without convert to fiat.

So far I did not sell my BTC and I have no plans to do that in the near future.I hope that with Lightning Network BTC will become easier(cheaper & faster) to use,so instead to convert in fiat we will pay direct with BTC.
