My wife and I were very ill Dec 26 - Jan 16  My wife was hospitalized for 3 days and treated for pneumonia.
Since I had a dozen packages of miners arrive in my home during Nov,Dec,Jan all shipped in under 3 days from China we may have been early victims of the disease. I don't     want any money or coins for help.

But if anyone has spare  gloves or facemasks please donate some to your local police, firemen, hospitals. Also try to support you supermarkets clerks and cashiers. This job was never considered a good quality job for workers. It is now a very much needed job and those clerks are risking their lives to sell us the food.

I am in NJ we are over 14,000 cases today and right next to New York with 60,000 cases. If you are in the USA in any state  your numbers will grow.
Look at the charts  for Spain and Italy

https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/country/spain/  still going up

https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/country/italy/  these may have finally leveled off

USA is looking at 100,000 to 200,000 deaths in the next six months.

To the forum members

Please try to hold back on snarky asshole fuck you posts and be helpful instead.

It would boost Doge coin  and LTC   more transactions and lower fees.

They would be like small change.  BTC would be more for wealth storage.

More demand for space heater miners in your home.  I would think a company like Delongi  has a real opportunity to embrace mining.

Delongli makes make different style electric space heaters.  I can not link to them as per rules of this board.

I agree that maybe a mega thread about Corona somewhere may be better although it will not end side discussion about it in economics section for example

...Nor should it.

The novel corona virus has undoubtedly affected a myriad of Bitcoin users. The lockdowns have affected the mining industry; people are speculating about the effect on hash rate. It has no doubt affected global and local economies and the price of bitcoins too. Not to mention the effects on politics and society. That's at least a handful of boards we should expect discussion in.

This is the biggest world news since WWII. It affects everyone. I'm not surprised everyone on Bitcointalk is talking about it. Duplicative threads should be locked or trashed, but I would prefer if moderators were somewhat liberal about this subject in general. I hate social media, and I prefer reading related discussions here on the forum.

This looks to be the worst epidemic since the spanish flu 1918-1919

that was a three wave attack by the virus 🦠 it killed off 20 million people when the world 🌎 only 1.2 billion

I would argue while this may not kill as many people as world one or world war two it will affect every country in the world 🌎.   To think we should not write about here is lets play ostrich and stick out head in the sand.

What does board does this not affect?  if you can pick one and you are correct I just say yep you are right but not yet wait a few weeks and that board will be affected.

I think I paid $399 NEW for my Sapphire reference model Vega 56 a couple years back.
$180 seems reasonable.

I have 2 sapphire pulse two fan.

I have 2 msi air boost blower style.

free shipping to usa.

180 for any 1
350 for any 2
510 for any 3
650 for all   4

I would consider any reasonable offer for them.

which means a bit lower then above works.

If people think this is bad, wait until they hear about influenza

Since October 2019:

13,000,000 – 18,000,000
flu illnesses

5,900,000 – 8,500,000
flu medical visits

120,000 – 210,000
flu hospitalizations

6,600 – 17,000
flu deaths

corona - v has crushed this and you spoke far too soon.

Yeah my answers for this make me severe risk.  The only good thing is the answers apply to Jan 1-20 dates so most likely I had it and it is over.

price drop to over 140 but under 180.

Make a bid. free shipping to USA
14448  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Mining calculator - need advices about simulating a long-term mining scenario on: March 29, 2020, 05:26:08 PM
you may want to do a range for block times.

We are under 10 minutes since 2009.  Maybe closer to 9 minutes then 10 minutes per block.

I suspect that  26 x 2016 = 52,416 blocks a year.

And we started in 2009 Jan 3

so Jan 3 2020 = 11 years

11 x 52,416 = 576576 should be were we where on Jan 3 2020  yet we were 611042 to 611200

that is 611200 - 576576 = 34624 after then 10 minutes

you could write it as

576576/611200 x 10 =  9.4335 minutes a block   for those 11 years.

you want more fun

611200 last block on jan 3 2020

623273 last block on mar 27 2020

that is 31 + 29 + 23 = 83 days x 144 = 11952 blocks would be every 10 minutes yet 12073  where made

so   11952/12073 x 10 = 9.89977 minutes per block  and price was 6940 jan 3 2020   and it is 6700 march 27.

So do yearly breakdowns

with efficiency
time per block almost always under 10 minutes

knock yourself out have fun with it.

Study flat difficulty periods and try to figure why  they happen.
14449  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do Holders actually bought BTC during the crash? on: March 29, 2020, 12:07:18 AM
There were people on the Wall Observer thread who were buying hard in the $4000 range. There were also people running around like headless chickens who sold at that moment too. The golden rule is always to do the exact opposite of what your emotions want you to do. Hardly anyone can do that but if you can you're forever ahead of 99% of people.

I was able to get some at
 5800
 4900
 3889

When buying the dip you need to be able to do multiple buys.

Slightly increase your purchase each step of the dip.

say

  500 usd worth at 5800
  750 usd worth at 4900
1000 usd worth at 3900

and a bottom buy number
like

2250 at 2900 -3100 which did not occur last week

this is 4500 usd cash reserve

maybe 1-2 btc held

also have sell numbers up the way up.

10% of your coins at 10k
10% of your coins at 11k
10% of your coins at 12k

It is a basic ratio of cash to coin with some buying and some selling.

If you don't  plan some version like above you never make any profits in good times.

and you never gain coins during bad times.

and you don't have a stable hold position of some of the coins.

Actually not having a variable cash reserve is always stupid. it means you don't belong in the game.
as shit always happens in life.

even shit like this which is big time shit all over, has happened back in 1918-1919 spanish flu was the last true bad pandemic.

Itl be a little while tbh. The current state of affairs did not do the previous auction any favours at all. Il buy the silver soon but I wont be doing the hearts for at least another month, and that's before i start on them. Truth be told, i actually made a big fat loss on these, which is great for buyers but tied with the big dip in BTC value, i simply can't go ahead with the expenses associated with a run of hearts right now.

I hope you appreciate my position on this 👍

Yeah  these were a bargain price which could not have been good for you.
14451  Economy / Collectibles / Re: 5 HOURS LEFT Corrosive Creations CRYPTODECK (CLUBS) on: March 28, 2020, 09:07:51 PM
You are getter very close to 1000 merits.

Not to pressure or worry you in any way. But when is a time estimate for the final suit?

I will be looking for a 6 to get a pair of them.

I hope to see the six of clubs on Saturday.

Edit: Nicer then I hoped it would be and  it has heft or weight it does not feel flimsy.  Hey guys lets give him some merits he is closing in on 1000.

14453  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: SIXTEEN AND A HALF DAYS for this last difficulty reset?!?!? Way late!!! on: March 28, 2020, 02:46:29 PM
Pretty sure that most of the miners out there, they just sold their GPUs and left crypto all together. The true and devoted ones are the ones which are either mining at a loss or sold their farms in exchange for some BTC or ETH.

Regarding a price crash? I am pretty sure we bottomed out on the 13th when we hit the low $3k's and ETH hit $80 yearly support. How low are you expecting BTC to go? You won't see $1K BTC anytime soon. Stock market can crash all it wants but most likely BTC will trade sideways.

It is just your guess that is not supported with any data or reasonable argument. The same way I can say that BTC will go to 0, try to prove me wrong.

He has zero need to prove you wrong.

But you can shout all you want about coins dropping to zero value.

I have dirt cheap power and I will simply earn more and more coins as the price of coins drop.

the problem with your concept of 0 value for coins is you negate the real true core values of mining.

1) sheds power load when a dam is in rainy season.
2) provides heat
3) a space heater gives you zero money back while it heats a space.
4) a miner gives you back $$ while you heat.

personally insisting coins are all or nothing is typical of humanity.

most people want :
on or off
black or white
good or evil
right or wrong

reality is gray is the color and last i heard there are fifty shades of it.

will i need to alter my mining ⛏ yes
will i stop mining ⛏ no

do i fear coins going to zero no.

do i believe they can go to zero. yes they can.  but corona-v would need to become corona-v10x

come in three waves over the next two years infect us all and kill off at least two billion people.

if that happens the world 🌎 will pretty much be a hellish terrible place, do i think the virus 🦠 will mutate and kill that many people no I don’t.

But the black plague was crazy bad a long long long time ago.

So far this disease looks worse then h1n1 was in 2009-2010 but not as bad as 1918-1919 spanish flu.

If it turns out to be like the spanish flu more then 50 million will die. which will be really bad.

if it is worse then h1n1 it will be 1 million dead.

i don’t think either would wreck the world’s economy.
14454  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: It is 2020 time for a new diff thread. on: March 28, 2020, 12:00:43 AM
Playing devil's advocate.  Corona-v mutates hits all the world in three waves.  Much Like the spanish flu did back in 2018-2019.  This is a new factor for the so called modern world with its vast inter continental supply chains. We kind of don't know how to rate it.

VALUE OF BLOCK REWARD TO TX FEES  changes again and each change it makes tx fees gain importance

if a block now its 12.5 + .5

and it goes to 6.25 + .5  that tx fee gains importance.

Personally I don't see his problem occurring this ½ ing.

He does not understand how much power is 'free'.
He does not understand many farms are simply used for load shedding for large dams during rainy season.
Also he does not understand the entire network uses less power then any major dam power plant.

Now using understand in the sentences above is a major presumption on my part. Maybe I am wrong and he is correct.  Which means I don't understand the dynamics correctly he does.

Well this gets settled soon.  I do expect this to be more like LTC was last year.  which did drop the diff a lot. and the price.   Once it recovered corona-v came along and fucked up everything in all markets all over the world.

I really want to stress this:

1  s17 pro pulls  2200 watts and does 53th  50 kwatts a day for 30 days = 1500 kwatts at 5 cents =75 dollars.
10 s17 pro         22000                      530th 500                                   = 15000                         = 750 dollars
100 s17 pro........220000....................5.3ph 5000............................... = 150000......................=7500 dollars
1000 s17 pro......2200000...................53ph  50000............................. = 1500000....................= 75000 dollars
10000 s17 pro....22000000..................530ph 500000...........................= 15000000 ................. =750000 dollars
100000 s17 pro...22000000..................5,3eh 5000000......................... =150000000............... = 7,500,000 dollars
1000000 s17 pro.220000000................53eh   50000000 ..................... = 1500000000............. = 75,000,000 dollars

so the power bill for 53 eh if all s17 pro and network took a month to hit a new adjustment is 75 million if it is 5 cent power.

This problem is solved by spending 75 million in power for a month.  There are more then one company that would do this .  and you would still earn some coins so  while there would be a loss it would be a one time event.  Major companies have big solar fields  mining they will continue to mine many companies have 1 and 2 cent power not 5 cent power.  We would need a huge drop off of hash more then 50% to go past the 30 day example I am showing.

So I don't think it is a big fear. It could happen but corona-v10x could happen in 5 years and who gives a shit about btc or crypto coins at all.
14455  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: Raffle for one (1) Antminer T17 40 TH/s Free USA Shipping on: March 27, 2020, 06:22:34 PM
You're selling 90%, what if it hits that 10%?

No he is selling 100%

I don't want to collect escrow until it reaches 90%.

If it reaches 90% one way or the other  the last 10% will be sold.
Even if I have to buy them myself.
I really don't want to do that.

But what I also don't want to do is collect from as many as 80 people and have to do refunds for all of them. Because the tickets did not sell.

24 slots are taken by 4 people  which would mean a reasonable amount of work for me if people keep buying 2 or more tickets
14456  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: It is 2020 time for a new diff thread. on: March 27, 2020, 04:27:59 PM
Getting people to agree to an emergency diff drop is not going to be easy.

We saw price drop from 10,000 to 3,900   then move to 6600

diff dropped 16%

and now that price is stable at 6600 diff is rising hard.  Your fear is not impossible .  But not likely to happen.

BTW  it does not hurt miners as much as hodlers.  Short term Traders  need v+v   volume and volatility .  miners need a mix of price power gear.  long term hodlers may have had there day in the sun.

The lowest price I saw BTC at was around 6 dollars.  a hold from 6 to 20,000 = 3333 x 1

This 3333 to 1 will never happen  at current price of 6600.  But this is a bit off the mark.

For your fear  we would need corona-v to become 10x worse then it will be  with all of us catching it and like 1 billion of us dying.
That would make enough fear no one would care about btc or crypto coins. lots of governments would fall things would be brutal all over.

BTC is too small for your problem to happen a hand full of rich guys would continue to mine no matter what.

1 acre solar farm can do 15kwatts 24/7
10 acre solar farm can do 150kwatts 24/7
100 acre solar farm can do 1500 kwatts 24/7
1000 acre solar farm can do 15000 kwatts 24/7

1 large dam can do the entire network.  You have voiced this fear more then once I don't think it will happen.

look at charts for italy

23 days and numbers are bad not really a lot better.

at day 23 numbers in china were bad

by day 36 things were getting better

hoping that Italy turns things around much like China did

14458  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: It is 2020 time for a new diff thread. on: March 27, 2020, 03:05:06 PM
Not an issue.  We won’t drop that much.  The worst case would be 20 to 30 days.

There are major players that will mine till the diff adjusts.

Would this happen over and over no. It would be a one shot deal.
14459  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: It is 2020 time for a new diff thread. on: March 27, 2020, 12:19:38 PM
Stay safe Phil and wife..... so much sadness on TV on covid19 situation in US.

USA is number 1!  not that we want to be number 1.

STATE_______CASES________DEATHS
New York....... 38,987............    432       my state of birth
New Jersey.....  6,876............      81       my current state of residence
California........ 4,060.............     82
Washington....  3,208.............   151
Michigan........  2,878.............     63
Illinois...........  2,538.............     26
Florida...........  2,477.............     28
Massachusetts. 2,417.............     25
Louisiana........ 2,305.............     83
Pennsylvania... 1,690.............     16   note this was base on New York Times March 27 data

I don't like the numbers. above.  My wife got sick Dec 26-28.  Was put in the Hospital Jan 13-16.  They Released her with a cough.

I was sick from Dec 29 to Jan 17.  Here we are in late March about 90 days after my wife first fell ill.  So no longer runs a temperature  and her blood O2 levels are up to 96-98 meter only goes to 99 so this is good.  But she has a post nasal drip that almost never ends. It makes its way into her lungs and she hacks up mucus on a daily basis.  My wife's first cousin a nurse in New York is being treated for corona-v as is her husband. They are over 60 so we worry for them.

So yeah there is a lot of FUD in the USA, Lets assume it is a natural disease and that no evil doers did it.  It has yet to run its course in Italy or Spain in both of those countries it has been growing worse for 20-24 days.  So here in New York  and New Jersey it has been growing worse for 12 days.  So the next 12 days will be worse and the numbers above will be growing.

My suggestions to anyone any where.  Get food that keeps and store some as best you can. Figure a way to have water, soap and aspirin or Advil or Tylenol.

Hopefully things get better for everyone but I figure Mid april for my area maybe April 15th.

As for the Diff  it is going up as prices are stable at 6500-7000.

 Diff is up 18%
14460  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Trump’s decision to choose economy over people life’s will end badly for him? on: March 27, 2020, 02:11:46 AM
Nope not happening.  The way the op has listed his idea.

many are calling for immunity testing to see if you had it and recovered.

So if I had it and get immune tested I wont need the vaccine..

My wife and I were really really sick Dec 28 to Jan 20 for me and to Feb 10 for my wife.

I would insist on a test to see if I had it and am now immune.

This is the easiest way to start the economy.  use recovered corona -v people.

New York Governor is calling for an antibody test.

My guess is a shit ton of us have had it since Nov 1 2019.
