14581  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: Buy BTC with PayPal Balance on: November 23, 2014, 03:26:03 PM
Be prepared for a deluge of replies from brand new accounts insisting that you send them PayPal first. Once you do though, you'll never hear from them again.
How do people on paypal even scam? When someone gets scammed on paypal they reverse the charge? People say they withdraw the funds and all but how can they do that so quickly? I never understood the whole PayPal scam and how it actually works for anyone.
There is no guarantee that paypal will actually approve the chargeback. The person scamming will fight the chargeback, if they lose then they lose nothing because they gave nothing to the buyer and if they win the chargeback dispute then they will have gotten paypal funds for nothing, and will launder/withdraw the funds.
14582  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: Sell Your PayPal here! on: November 23, 2014, 03:18:57 PM
1 working day withholding.
You should use escrow and have the escrow withhold the bitcoin to the buyer for one day.

If you are not willing to use escrow then you are doing nothing more then attempting to scam. It is not guaranteed that paypal will approve the chargeback if a claim is filed.
14583  Other / Meta / Re: How many of us are there? on: November 23, 2014, 05:33:46 AM
Not counting non active accounts too I guess? I noticed Mt. Gox Support is a VIP, for example

That number is all the sign ups till date. It also contains almost a quarter of a million sign ups with 0 posts.

I don't think there is any way to find the number of active users. The new forum may have an option to search for number of unique log ins in a set time period.
https://bitcointalk.org/adrotate.php?adstats

This will give you an idea as to how many total accounts have been active in a 7 day period and how many unique users were active in the last 7 days (active as in logged in and viewed threads).

From ~Oct 30 - ~Nov 12 (both 2014), roughly 171k users were active from ~151k IP addresses (IP addresses appear to include people who never logged in).
14584  Other / Meta / Re: Pleaae check this topic and its OP on: November 22, 2014, 02:04:18 AM
The forum does not moderate scams and they will not moderate any potential scam, nor does it moderate the trust system (contrary to what some people who were previously on default trust would want you to believe).

I do think the numerous banner ads are somewhat spammy though, and they should be removed.

There are a number of what are essentially duplicate posts made several times throughout the thread. I have reported one of the posts to a moderator via the "report to moderator" button on the bottom right of the post and mentioned that many of the posts in the thread have similar issues.
14585  Other / Meta / Re: Is this normal? on: November 21, 2014, 08:04:05 PM

You were blatant sig spamming.

Get real.

~BCX~
This so much.

He probably doesn't care too much as long as he doesn't get banned. Gives him a chance to complain about it in meta for more posts.
If I had to guess he probably ended up getting banned once badbear was able to see how many of his shitposts got deleted by various moderators (plus how many of his posts that haven't been deleyed are shitposts )
14586  Economy / Auctions / Re: Selling Hero Account on: November 21, 2014, 03:03:52 AM
BadBear changed acc selling rules now, itsn ot that secure to buy them - just fyi buyers.
Do you have any proof? I assume that you do not because he did not and you are spreading FUD
14587  Economy / Auctions / Re: Selling Hero Account on: November 21, 2014, 01:40:23 AM
Dang 1BTC for an account? Always amazed how much these sell for!

Your account is easily worth around 5-10 btc with all dat rep and shit.

lol I really doubt that...
You're account would easily be worth 5 BTC...heres how:

Someone who buys your account would obviously be in the business to scam sadly...they use your high trust and create a group buy or represent a "company" with an IPO and you collect the funds. Easily could get a lot.
His account is probably worth closer to 2-3 BTC as there is somewhat of a limit as to what people will be willing to pay for an account because there are some legit reasons why people would want a trusted account and there are serious risks of trying to scam with a trusted account (if they are caught then the account instantly becomes worthless).

@OP would you be willing to come down on your asking price at all? .9 BTC is pretty steep considering the lack of signature campaigns right now.
14588  Other / Meta / Re: Is this normal? on: November 21, 2014, 12:49:01 AM
I do agree that the moderators do make mistakes occasionally as they are human

There you go, that's your answer
No, unless you give some kind of evidence as to what happened, the community will default to the moderators as I can assure you that they know the rules much better then you.

Searching the modlog I discovered that two of your replies to "Major Flaw in Security" were deleted, and looking through the thread it appears that it was the reply about you commenting on macrotheminer's "bump" being a constructive post and you replying to someone else's comment confirming that a bump is allowed every 24 hours (one of which I reported for being signature spam - I am pretty sure). If this is what you are complaining about then whoever deleted your post was ~70% correct in their actions as you post had nothing to do with the OP of the subject thread.
14589  Other / Meta / Re: Is this normal? on: November 21, 2014, 12:28:25 AM
Your post was deleted because it broke some rule.

You don't even know what my post consisted of, so don't assume.
If your post did not break any rules of the forum then it would not have been deleted.

Authorities aren't omniscient. They are human beings with egos just like you and I
It is my understanding that the moderators will be very familiar with the rules of the forum in order to become a moderator and from their experience as a moderator. The only legit reason to delete a post is because it broke a rule.

I do agree that the moderators do make mistakes occasionally as they are human, however I would seriously doubt that their egos would ever cloud their judgment.

Again I think you should post what was deleted along with the thread so the community can make it's own judgment.

It sounds like you are concerned about your post count being lowered from deleted posts.

Not really. Assuming things is naughty.
I think you are. Most of your posts/threads you start have some kind of subject matter that will solicit a lot of responses that disagree with you and you often rely multiple times to people debating them with weak/no arguments.

I would suggest (as mentioned above) that you provide more information about what posts you had deleted so the community can see what exactly is being "censored"
14591  Economy / Invites & Accounts / Re: SELLING BITCOINTALK ACCOUNTS on: November 20, 2014, 10:38:25 PM
To improve security I would suggest that staff or theymos  either do the escrow or get real life id and collateral   from anyone running any kind of business from banking, investment and ponzi schemes.... And give them some commission to make it worthwhile etc

In layman's terms, anyone who's holding the coins of the community for any reason should be held more accountable than what we have now

Its not the  perfect solution but it would certainly cut down on scams where people trust an account with hundreds of posts etc
This would allow the staff to scam and the staff are not (AFAIK) vetted in any way outside of what is publicly available on the forum. It would also effectively be moderating scams which is something the forum does not do (if you moderate a scam then if you miss one then the forum is effectively endorsing a scam and could be held liable). It would be a guaranteed way to get the forum involved in litigation as people would have disputes that the forum would need to resolve and when one party does not agree the other side would almost certainly initiate litigation if the amount in dispute is large enough.

You are asking to be protected from others' actions but it is your responsibility and your responsibility alone to protect yourself from scams and you need to use common sense before you buy, sell or invest in something.
14592  Economy / Services / Re: [PrimeDice] (Staff Only) Earn Bitcoins Simply By Posting on: November 20, 2014, 06:37:38 PM
Very excited for the new campaign. Hopefully it'll start next month as my current signature runs out this month and I'd love to be on PD. Will be a senior very soon too.

@Stunna,
What happened ahead in this case Sir? Is there any improvement or still the cheater ain't caught yet?

Also, on the other hand, just based on curiosity, would like to know that is this only the limit of Cryptography and Network Security where if anyone's secret seed or private key is unveiled, then it's so damn easy for the one to just sweep out the money from their website/wallet?

Whats that? What happened? Can you link me to the case details?

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=208986.msg9576925#msg9576925

One guy hacked secret seed at PD and made nearly BTC1500, won 150 bets in a row and withdrew nearly BTC40 before admins caught and blocked him...

I really hope Stunna can get that moneyback somehow. 1500 btc is like half a million dollars. Even though they make many btc this is a massive loss and a site like PD doesn't deserve the hit as they earn't that money fairly as opposed to scamming like so many other dicesites do.
This is probably the point of the new signature campaign. If he advertises more then he will have more people gambling on PD (hopefully gambling higher amounts) and with more people gambling he will have less overall variance. With his higher overall betting volume he will have a higher EV of profits from his 1% house edge (unless it changed back to .9%)

The delation message says that it was most likely off topic not that it was specifically off topic. It says that posts can be deleted for other reasons. Your post was deleted because it broke some rule.

It sounds like you are concerned about your post count being lowered from deleted posts. I would suggest putting more thought/effort into your posts as this will likely result in your posts not getting deleted and will reduce your chances of getting banned for spamming useless posts to essentially zero.
14594  Economy / Lending / Re: loan required 0.40btc on: November 20, 2014, 01:50:17 PM
I can do it.

I will put a sell order immediately if the price falls below a certain limit that depends on the amount of coins you send as collateral. So more collateral => less risk of selling.

4000 SDC = Sell if price falls below 0.000125BTC.

Repayment amount: principal + reasonable interest (anything you like.)

But I will charge 3% for every day overdue. ie. if I lend today, from 5th December.

PM me if interested.

All collateral should be held by a trusted third party escrow. The escrow can enter an order to liquidate the collateral in the event the price falls below a certain level.
14595  Economy / Services / Re: Veritas Escrow Service (MultiSig bitcoin transactions with 2 escrow agents) on: November 19, 2014, 09:34:42 PM
I am not associated with the 2nd agent in any way, we live very far from each other. He will need only if something happen with me or dispute situation. If You don't want to trust him, You can propose Your 2nd agent or choose another escrow scheme (3-of-3 or 2-of-3, etc.).

P.S. Also he will replace me when I'm offline (I can't be online 24/7), in this case i will play the roll of the 2nd agent.
if you "know" where "he" lives then you are somehow associated with him. What would stop you from colluding with one party and releasing the funds to that party inappropriately?
14596  Economy / Lending / Re: loan required 0.40btc on: November 19, 2014, 08:04:18 PM
What is the repayment amount?

as I mentioned in my PM the message needs to be old (preferably at least 3 months old) to ensure that your account is not hacked.
14598  Other / Meta / Re: Bitcoin-Police trust system abuse. on: November 19, 2014, 06:19:15 PM
I do not think hilarious is on the trusted list so it would not show up unless you clicked "untrusted feedback". I think after all the recent events anyone with weighted trust will be really careful leaving feedback...I know I will be!
He is trusted by badbear so his trust would show up. However what bitcoinpolice is doing is not untrustworthy even though it probably breaks the rules via trolling and is extremely immature, not to mention he fact that he only calls out the obvious scams (although he has started to call out things that may or may not actually be scams)

14600  Economy / Lending / Re: Looking for 1.322 BTC loan Need today on: November 19, 2014, 04:52:20 PM
Your collateral is worth way less then what you are trying to borrow. It looks like your doge is worth just under .02 and if you are telling the truth about the mnxiv then your collateral is worth .12 plus the roughly .02 for your wstl comes to .14 but I don't think many people would lend against it. I don't think having control over a "group" on your forum has any real value (especially to a lender - you could just revoke the rights) but I may be wrong.

If you are going to borrow with collateral you will need to borrow less (usually ~20%) then the value of your collateral
