1461  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BITMAIN AntRouter R1: 1st wireless networking device with bitcoin mining chip on: April 07, 2016, 01:12:17 PM
Hi all

Does anyone use his R1 as WLAN client? I have a bunch of U3 and i would like to let them mine in another room because of the noise. But there is no ethernet connection inside this room. I would like to stop using my Raspi for connecting the U3 to my WLAN and installing my R1 for that reason.

I've tried a couple times, but didn't get it to work. It won't connect to the wlan nor is it accessible via cable. I had to reset my device in order to getting a connection again. Thanks for your hints.
R1 wifi is pretty unreliable. It does work but the strength is pretty weak and you're better off buying a cheapo tplink for a connection. U3s are supposed to be connected thru the usb port, and i'm pretty sure wlan doesn't work for u3s.

I was running the R1 sorely on wireless for months - and both R1 and 3 x U3 connected via USB thru a cheapo 4 port USB hub works well.

I think it should work fine as far as wireless the run the R1 and U3's from it.   It is nothing fancy but should be able to do it, personally I went Ethernet each time I set it up.  But wireless should be fine to a point.

That being said if you have it as a access point don't expect a lot out of it.  It is not a great router you can get far better for much cheaper if what you need is a device to put out WIFI for devices to connect to.
1462  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Btc Miner Avalon Nano USB Bitcoin Miner 3.6GH/s asicminer on: April 07, 2016, 01:09:45 PM
Hi guys

i am sorry for this noob question
i am new to this form and mining system

i just want to ask is it worth to buy the avalon nano usb 3.6GH/s

i know this age is for Th/s now

but still is it profitable

It will not be profitable, you can have low price electricity costs or free costs, but minning with 3,6 gh is very low you will only make few satoshis. You can buy it to learn how it works, but you can't make profit from this kind of miners.

In most cases buying a compac makes more sense as a usb stick miner.  And it will be for learning or lotto.  You will not make a profit unless it's from selling the miner one day.

Avalon nano I have used one nothing wrong with them.  But again it's a stick miner so you pay more then you will get in return.  I think compac being more current is best best though, even though still no profit.
1463  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: The halving is coming. What's your next move? on: April 07, 2016, 01:07:29 PM
Keep my S5's running until no longer profitable. Got one of the S5's already mining peercoin. It's not worth much, but it mines a block pretty quick. Plan on throwing all 5 on there and then just trade Peercoin to BTC after I have enough.

Is mining peercoin more profitable than bitcoin? The difficulty of many coins are rising fast, less profitable now.

I tend to keep mine on Bitcoin, I think it has the best long term goals.  Every once in a while if a new alt coin comes out I will put it some gear on nicehash but it's hardly worth it right now - https://www.nicehash.com/ 2 percent over normal  (and there are fees).

But I think your best bet is mining BTC and holding what you can.  I personally sell off for electricity as if I don't I get in pretty deep as I tend to normally be more then 10k watts at most times.  That just adds up to a big electric bill.  So kinda is also another way to make sure I'm profitable currently by selling and paying electricity for my miners. (I don't always do it if price is bad, but as general rule I like to sell enough to pay electricity).
1464  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: BEST HARDWARE FOR 1 BITCOIN? on: April 07, 2016, 01:03:02 PM
Thank you soi much to all of you for your help... I've been mining for a while now but i know that in Europe is quite difficult to get profit   even whis S7's...  Cry
I'll take a look for new hardware...
Thank you again

Best of luck, sadly I don't see EU changing much.  Due to vat/import it is argubly one of the hardest places to profit on mining gear from initial investment.  Miners are just to expensive over there most of time.

You are far better of buying and hosting somewhere out of EU I think.  As far as new hardware... all speculation no one can really say much on when/what we will see.  But new gear does not change EU vat/import tax sadly for EU miners.   So I still see hardware as to high to start in most cases there.
1465  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Is it to late to buy an S7? on: April 07, 2016, 12:59:55 PM
Not sure if I filled out the calculator right, but it doesn't look good.

Date                      Difficulty       Revenue       Profit    Return
2016                                                                    -8080
4-7 – 4-12 (6 days)    166 G         12.27         12.02       -8068
4-13 – 4-25 (19 days)    200 G         10.24         10.04       -8058
4-26 – 5-8 (32 days)    240 G         -0.2808      -0.2752    -8058

I would take a look at it again, it should not ave a 8000 starting point unless you are doing a LOT of S7's.  Were talking a much smaller investment. But your right profit is harder and harder.

What is your electricity price?  Also do you have vat/import tax?
1466  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Only have enough $$ to buy one mining rig... SHA-256 vs Scrypt Mining?! on: April 07, 2016, 12:57:43 PM
Buy the GPU's for scrypt and other non-SHA256 altcoins, point them at multi-pool with auto mining feature. Profit! SHA-256 mining is a race to the bottom due to rising diff for bitcoins, while scrypt mining with GPU's do not have this fast rising diff problem at present time. Unless someone comes out newer scrypt miners, even then you can mine altcoins with non-scrypt/non-SHA256 algo.

If you are mining GPU's chances are it's a ETH rig currently.  That seems to be the new "it" alt coin for gpu miners, I still hold reservation's and have not built any new rigs to mine it.  I just don't want to build then quickly after be forced to sale.

That being said pure scrypt has asics... they beat the heck out of GPU's.  So were talking about algo varients of scrypt that are GPU resistant.  And sha256... I still tend to mine BTC been a long time since I have mined an alt on it.
1467  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: BW 14nm Miners Update on: April 07, 2016, 12:54:34 PM
Pre-order scams do not work any more.

They have produced some B11's already so not really pre-order scams.  They were mainly used internally vs sales, they also did not hit near efficiency as the refined one should hit.

They should be legit on BW.  That being said I still did not order any of their hashing contracts, but I would put them as second behind bitmain as far as reliability as they should come though.  But time will tell.
1468  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Diff thread Apr 1 to Apr 15? picks are open.... prize = 0.1 btc on: April 07, 2016, 12:51:47 PM
Hashrate hit the new all time high. We're going to see at least 3% rise in Diff this period. Hopefully it was just due to variance, but more likely due to Bitmain producing and selling the crippled S7 with a single fan. Can I change my pick to +3.2?

Bitwisdom is up:
Bitcoin Difficulty:    166,851,513,283
Estimated Next Difficulty:    173,929,554,184 (+4.24%)
Adjust time:    After 1077 Blocks, About 7.2 days
Hashrate(?):    1,258,413,935 GH/s

And we still have time to go.  I kept thinking S7's would made a effect but seemed to be small maybe this change they finnaly will pump out a bunch of new 1 fan design.  This does not scare me as much as next gen, next gen scares me once they hit it.
1469  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How earn 1BTC a year? on: April 07, 2016, 01:31:58 AM
The best way is to search a job and after a couple of day you have earned enough to buy a bitcoin. The other way is that you 24/7 visit faucets during a year and maybe you have earned then 1 BTC.
Make your choise. For me is that not a difficult question.

Horrible idea on faucets you will earn cents per hour.  Your talking dust payments.  If you earn 1 BTC from faucets... your spending likely over 10K hours... and that is a generous estimate.

Add electricity for computer you lose money on faucet.   But no one is making 1 BTC these day's unless really into referral's (which is not easy to get lots of).
1470  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is it too late to start with bitcoin? on: April 07, 2016, 01:27:41 AM
Don't think Bitcoin, think crypto in general. Keyword: blockchain! Wink

That is the magic word many companies looking for investors use.  Bitcoin seems to have some bad press that scares people away in some case.  Change word to blockchain is what a surprising amount of companies are doing when looking for investments.

I still think bitcoin has a good future (I hope at least).  I think seeing what happens after having will be a little indication.
1471  Other / Meta / Re: How to protect an account from being hacked? on: April 07, 2016, 01:23:39 AM
PHISHING sites seem to be a BIG problem lately also, so I recommend using a password manager.

The lifehacker website has a pretty good list here http://lifehacker.com/5529133/five-best-password-managers

My pw manager has saved me from 3 phishing sites just this past week alone.

Use a good password manager is honestly a great idea.  I combine it with 2nd factor to.  I use Yubikey's with my password manager you cannot access it without me physically pressing the Yubikey.

But use different password for each crypto site it is big deal anymore.  Also using different emails for certain things is not a bad idea.
1472  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Is it to late to buy an S7? on: April 07, 2016, 01:21:02 AM
Do S7s still make $300ish per month?  I can order one now.  When do the new versions come out?  If it's 3 months it should be worth it.

You will need to run a ROI with a calculator and your electricity price.  Electricity price is huge.   https://bitcoinwisdom.com/bitcoin/calculator

But on next bitmain product... they are quiet no one can say.   It's highly speculation at this point.   No leaks or anything like some in past.   So no one can tell you if you get 3 months before a new product or not from them.
1473  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER C1 Discussion and Support Thread on: April 07, 2016, 01:17:58 AM
I think my pump is starting to die. Seems the temps at are 55C and fan is running at 3200, don't remember it ever being this loud before. Ambient is 30C.

Anyone know where to get a replacement? Nothing too expensive as this is an old miner already. What is the L/min flow of the stock pump?

Been a long time since I bought them but I used 2x http://www.ebay.com/itm/381066536924?_trksid=p2060778.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT long ago.  They were faster then syscooling pumps and lasted great sold them with the C1's a bit back.

Someone might have a cheaper solution.  Those work great though when my syscooling pumps died what I went to.
1474  Economy / Services / Re: [BIT-X.com] Earn Bitcoins by Posting | Signature Campaign on: April 06, 2016, 08:11:20 PM
Payments are made tonight!

Regarding the campaign, it will be continuing and we will all be advertising CoinsBank.com very soon! Smiley

Great to hear on both!   I'm glad you are keeping it going and switching advertising.  After almost a year in this signature campaign I'm still happy to be here.  Seems to make sense with it being same place being advertised just under new name.  Look forward to switching over to coinsbank Smiley

Thanks for help/time as always.

A bitmain s7 is the way to GO! People on this forum regularly give away 100$ off coupons for this bad boy so keep an eye out. Good luck mining

https://bitmaintech.com/productDetail.htm?pid=00020150827084021471OHYdwd9D06A0

You linked to batch one... that is not going to be what is current.  Current would be one fan model - https://bitmaintech.com/productDetail.htm?pid=000201603310959482268cfunbq106E5

But read part about being in EU.  I really think he would have a hard time, and it's not going to fit mentioned budget of under 1 BTC by any means.  EU is a hard place for miners in general (few exceptions but not many).
1476  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BITMAIN AntRouter R1: 1st wireless networking device with bitcoin mining chip on: April 06, 2016, 08:01:13 PM
Let`s post pictures (or video) of our R1`s mining!
 Smiley

Some of the least exciting mining pictures there Smiley.  Biggest I ever got was 3 U3's on my R1, don't think I have any pics.  Most exciting thing with mine was fan's I had fun with some LED fan's to cool down my lotto miners (U3's and Compacs).   I went overboard but looked neat.
1477  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S7 is available at bitmaintech.com with 4.86TH/s, 0.25J/GH on: April 06, 2016, 07:58:42 PM
I had a good return with my S3 first batch but not with the S7 as I paid in BTC and the price was low. If I had paid cash it would have been better but ... you never know what it is coming.

I highly doubt I will buy any further Batch 1 from Bitmain. First, the first batch didn't do so great in the past (S3 low hash, S7 low hash) and they overpriced the S7 batch 1. I skipped the S5, I don't remind how good or bad they did with performance/pricing for the first batch.

I do agree about pricing for Batch 1, but in re: to performance the S7 Batch 1 (along with Batch 3 and 5 I believe) have the highest hashrates of any of the succeeding batches.  They came at 4.86T, 10% higher efficiency due to higher chip density, and overclockable to ~5TH/s (and even more for some people). I also skipped the S5, and it probably turned out to be the most profitable miner in Bitmain's history with re-sale value not far from sale price nearly a year after launch.

S5's also held a decent value for quiet a while on re-selling.   I sold all my previous gen gear (anything before S7/A6).  And did decent with it, happy I sold before S7 dropping with coupons and everything been a bit since I sold them.

But mining with S5's and other prev generation gear and selling worked good for me.  I sold them on ebay (a little risky) and bought coins after to eventually buy more miners with of this gen or possibly next gen.
1478  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: BEST HARDWARE FOR 1 BITCOIN? on: April 06, 2016, 07:53:34 PM
Antminer S7 is the best choice, mate.

Might be a bit hard to get a S7 for 1BTC shipped, especially if he need a PSU for it too. Also it might not even be good for him, depending on his electricity rate.

then no miner it's good for him, because the s7 is currenctly the most efficient

if he can find one used, he would get out with it for 1 btc, maybe in his location to avoid shipping
I'll look for second hand one here in spain... I'll keep you in touch

I think you are fighting a hard battle.  Most gear in EU costs more then it's worth due to vat/import tax.  So your used gear..... chances are you would pay more then it's worth.

I suggest you buy something and have it hosted somewhere, as EU tends to have high electricity prices to in a lot of cases.  Add that to the vat/import.. very hard to start profitable mining.  You might be better off buying 1 coin and hold then mining in your area.
1479  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: if you have free electricity and 10k on: April 06, 2016, 07:50:33 PM
if you have if you have free electricity  and 10k cash

how much you will invest in bitcoin mining  and when ?? right now or later and why

Pick some ASIC for ALL money and start
mining right now, so you have a few month
before block halving happen and other miners
add more hashpower to network...

Going all in to start is a horrible idea.   Going from no miners to mining 10k worth of equipment... huge growing pains.  Start off smaller and add gradual with starting.   The electrical wiring, cooling, networking, psu's, etc.  Just a lot of thing he would have to learn all at once and if your talking about 10k worth of gear... i argue it's to much for most on jumping in first miner.

Starting with 1 S7 and trying it even is better then jumping in to big at once.  All or nothing is not a good way to invest in general.
1480  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Diff thread Apr 1 to Apr 15? picks are open.... prize = 0.1 btc on: April 06, 2016, 07:47:30 PM
+4.3 = Notlist3d

Coin price is over 420... so not horrible this round still want to see it jump, but it's been slow on that.
