There had been an uncomfortable silence from TerraHash. Being that we have a pretty serious investment made, my partner physically visited their office today.
I had been pretty concerned because I found a dark office with locked doors on my first trip. I guess thats what I get for showing up unannounced.

Regardless,  I'd like to share with everyone that Amir was at the office. My partner said that there were many more component boxes than the photo we had seen.  He said boxes were stacked from floor to ceiling lining the walls. Amir didn't appear nervous by any means. He felt that the chips should be arriving within 10 days based on other people's avalon arrival/order dates.

I just felt that it was important that people know that there are some physical humans there despite the silence.  Not everyone is close enough to conveniently drop in.

Amir also was not nervous saying he had obtained extra early batch chips when they were super hot and everyone wanted in.  Of which he said he had proof he had purchased.  Then announces he has had some magic clause with his seller and was able to get out of the higher price....... wish he would have posted who was willing to promise TH early batch chips and get no payment, and be so generous on their conditions.

I will bet that within 10 they DONT get chips.  Only thing i think they are trying to do is find a way to come out with some sort of smokescreen news and re-open preorders.  And even if they did get chips unless i missed something they have not even used their sample chips to make a current board that isn't throwing up big HW errors and hashing at expected rate.

What do they do currently when they are in the office?   Does he have some sweet game setups or huge tv to watch as not a whole lot gets done including announcements from TH anymore.  Some of us can remember at the first how much communication there was when preorders were open....

Might have a look over at this article.  It sure scares me from ever buying one of these.

http://codinginmysleep.com/casascius-physical-bitcoins-cracked-at-defcon/

Why would you be scared of buying one?

Getting one from someone else you may want to consider the trust but buying one should be fine. It is good for cold storage.

Thank you i should have put from buying from someone else who is unknown.

I really like the idea of them, the scary part would be entering it in after having it in cold storage and the code be invalid/used.

also,

TH can call DHL at 1-800-225-5345 give them the shipping address and name etc.. to see if anything is incoming.
Never know. Smiley

Good link,

Another good thread is

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=277198.0

I was trying to cross check the Google doc and TH's orders, but 10th or 16th is not even on that list. Any thoughts?
some payments are at other addresses . one of those 11th orders could be trrrahash

They could always purchase some of those orders..... since they announced they never bought some of the chips they said they did at first....

Whats that we will hear from TH chances are about chips ..... nothing..... then one day they will open up pre-orders again!
14605  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Who here already pre-ordered the Monarch 28 nm Bitcoin mining card ??? on: August 20, 2013, 07:14:53 AM
If someone can find all of Josh's personal information, including what property he owns, the next step is to Lien his personal property for theft and fraud. Anyone who has a claim against Josh, should step forward and seize his personal property. I think it might be time for people to take back what belongs to them.
If I were dumb enough to be fucked over by Butterfly Labs, I would hire someone to track Josh home and find out where he lives, his car, his bank account etc., Then I would lien every personal item within 100 ft of him, including his wife's property, if he has one, and she has any. I would have his bank accounts seized by the Sheriffs, I would make sure to take every single item he owns.  Cool

Sorry to break it to you i didn't search to far to see if BFL truly has a incorporation but most likely they spent the little amount to for it:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Incorporation_%28business%29

Most likely legal action will be against the company (sadly its like a legal person).   Granted it is possible legal action could touch personal property...... it will be a lot harder.  Sad..... but they knew what they were doing when they made the company.

Epic

Hi Josh,

What would happens to our outstanding and current orders  if you really end up in penitentiary? Wink

Well their next product could be the soap on a monarch.   It's essentially a piece of soap tied to a pci express case prototype.  It fits perfect on most counters because of its size and uses zero power.

Much like they had a case for mini rig to show when nothing was inside of it.  Since it wont have a touch screen to blind you from nothing being inside, it will likely be covered with some sweet graphics.
14607  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Quietest GPU? on: August 18, 2013, 03:03:49 PM
One thing I would worry about is quiet inst necessary a good thing lol.  If you are mining alt coins and want quiet go water cooling.  But that is a lot of effort and more important money going into it.   If you have any extra space put it there and dont worry about noise.

"It's -on-"? What is on? The thread-starter frenzy?

Does the HashFast crew really has to start 5 new threads per day?

I cant decide which i like less a company like terrahash that does not talk to their customers or all these new companies with multiple threads saying "Order from us".

The community will only fall for so many pre-orders.  At this point..... i think if a company does not have product or chips to sell they are better off waiting and selling at higher price once they truly have something.

I should have gone for a degree in CAD.... it seems that if you draw it and looks good they will come.  Insert cad rendering "HASHFASTER 4.0" who wants to pre-order?  We can render it when someone "goes to get coffee"!
14609  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Hubs for Block Erupter USB AsicMiner on: August 16, 2013, 11:53:14 AM
Nice job finding these.  Anker seems to do a lot of re-branding.  I'm all for finding a great hub at cheap price!
14610  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Juiced Systems USB hub totally unreliable with USB Erupters on: August 16, 2013, 02:20:33 AM
It seems many have had problems with juiced.  Read everything from running great almost full to cant handle half.  Best to stay away from the brand.  I would see if you can get a cheap hub and order one from the thread without a lot of complaints.

I bought a 10 port USB 3.0 hub from my local PC shop that was powered and off-brand from china, it ended up working flawlessly with Block Eruptor and FPGA's and even ended up being RaspberryPi compatable.

Perfect example YMMV.  Sorry to hear OP's unit was one that didn't work good.

What will be intresting is if they ever do partial refunds, the reason they cited for not having all the parts on hand for production.  If this was like they sold everything would be waiting at assembly line waiting on chips.

When you think about it bkk is the one who did the main work, developing the board.  TH really had no R/D costs, they ordered one case put together a partial board throwing hw errors.   TH maybe rented a office?  Their chip order even half they now say they never ordered.... but at one point said it was ordered.  So who knows what is ordered.  So it will be intresting to see what they subtract if they do partial refund

I am willing to bet if you do get lucky and get partial refund, the majority of money kept goes to salary.  And salary for what bkk did the work developing.  They chances are will take a big chunk for sitting there in front of computer screen, and rejecting refunds?

And to be fair i may be jaded on my opinion because of how they threatened me when i got my paypal refund long ago.

I won't wait around quite frankly.  I've already submitted a request to TH for a refund, reminding them of FTC regulations and stating in no uncertain terms that their no refund policy is in direct violation of said regulations.
If they refuse my refund, or ignore me, I'll just file a chargeback with my CC.  If they have the balls to call me up or email me and threaten me, they'll be given one chance, and one chance only, to cease and desist without me pressing charges for harassment.  I won't f*** with them.  They may be a victim too, but I'll be damned if I'm going to be the patsy losing my money, taking not only my risk, but their risk as well, for their reward.  They built profit into their price for sales, they sold up front and got their cost+profit up front; they took their reward, now it's time to shoulder the risk part.
They want to have the reward of profit, they need to understand that the risk is theirs as well.  We have the risk of non-delivery, and the hassle of having to fight to get our money back; they have the risk of non-delivery and having to give our money back and having to fight bitsyncom for their money back.

That's no different than if I sold my miners as 'pre-orders' with the only guarantee being after I get them but I 'expect' to have them in a month and ship 2 weeks after that, and 'no refunds under any circumstances'.  If I don't deliver the merchandise, I'm liable for the refund 100% in full.  If the buyer, after 2 months, decides they're tired of waiting and files a dispute - guess what?  eBay/paypal/their bank will side with them, and 100% rightfully so.  I took a risk in the hopes of making a profit.  When it goes bad (even if it's not my fault), it's on me NOT my customer.

On refund they will not care.  I asked them very nicely to work within paypal when doing my refund.  A dispute they could have cared less about.  Once i went to a claim they finally emailed me threatening me.  Basically saying take the claim down or risk losing all my money if paypal didn't side with me. (granted I am no lawyer nor play one on tv so how they meant for it to come out... i cannot say their intent only guess).  In the end they never once responded in paypal made me wait a long time, and paypal sided with me.  I did all of this when they were having troubles producing proof as they promised and they had paypal trouble.

If you have any recourse left for refund CC or other i would pull trigger sooner rather then later.  I feel sorry for those who trusted TH with bitcoins for order.  If they are there everyday and they are not working on board what are they doing? (again big props to bkk he is the true genius and i honestly hope another company comes around and is able to produce that is trustworthy).  Think what are they doing not ordering parts, not making product, not giving refunds, sitting there getting salary and office.  And who knows what their salary and expenses will be claimed as is if they do some kind of partial refund.

Even if they receive chips tomorrow they still wont be ready for production.  End of threatened customer rant, my advice get your refund cut your losses as soon as you are able to assuming you still have a way.
14613  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Off-Topic on: August 15, 2013, 05:07:44 AM
While all or most of what Silvas says is true, there's also the little matter of reality.  And getting a grasp on reality is very much the responsibility of everyone.

  • People bought from Terrahash in good faith expecting a certain delivery date, but knowing the product didn't exist.
  • Delivery didn't happen, and who knows right now when delivery will or will not take place?
  • People want refunds, but Terrahash can't/won't give refunds.  Most of their money is tied up in orders or components.
  • So your choices are right now to ride it out or take legal action.
  • Riding it out means waiting until Avalon delivers, or Terrahash calls it quits.
  • If Terrahash calls it quits they still have to get a refund from Avalon before you'll see anything.
  • If you take legal action it will probably take longer than waiting for Avalon, and cost you more.
  • Terrahash's obligation to you is to meet the product specification, (delivery being a separate issue).  I seriously doubt that any of you have a contract with them protecting you against loss of income for delayed product.
  • These are the risks that you undertake in buying anything from an unproven source, regardless of their responsibilities or obligations.
  • Crying about it doesn't get you anywhere.  Shit or get off the pot.

And if any of you are interested I've got a bridge to sell ....
lol,,ya the "bridge to nowhere" Smiley

+1 for adding something for free someone wanted to charge.

I all for sharing knowledge.  Gigabyte seem to do really great, and Sapphire also has some good cards as well.   Be careful entering the market of 7950 i hate when some one starting off falls for xfx and has bad luck.
14615  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Off-Topic on: August 15, 2013, 12:26:10 AM
well I am just about to hit another 700 Feathercoins, so you know what that means  Grin a BTC in the ol wallet coming right up! lol

Nice. Wink

My miners are already back to Litecoin.

My Litecoin miner blew up last night. I am officially out of the business till I find a power supply. Sad

You have something in common with TH's part supply.... no power supplies.

7950 is best if mining most alt coins, also be careful on brands not all are equal.
14619  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Off-Topic on: August 11, 2013, 12:35:56 PM
As far as selling my pre-order I think I am just going to file with my credit card company, because this is obviously a breech of contract on both Avalon, and although possibly unintentionally, TerraHash as well. We should all have our orders come Aug. 15th

I think we need to push Terrahash to go for a refund on the chips as Bicknellksi is trying to organize with all the group buys.
...

You wont be able to push TH into refund.  I got my paypal refund long ago when they didn't meet deadlines they would post, they never even worked within paypal to resolve it.

If you get it through route your talking it will be credit card getting cash back, TH will in no way help if past is indicator.

Anyone seen this?

【Avalon Factory】made by ccbmc!50PCS 110G 4# avalon mining Has shipped!

It seems someone has received a batch outside of Zefir.

Was the person who received in same country?  That would mean no customs troubles.
