1481  Economy / Speculation / Re: How Long Bitcoin Will Bullish on: August 19, 2017, 04:41:12 PM
Now... this year 2017 is a reflection of 2013...  Bitcoin prices rose significantly along with increased adoption and problem-solving. But whether Bitcoin prices can still rise in 2018 later? While the price correction of the price spike has not occurred at all. So what do you think guys?
It it not the same situation as back then, the growth this year has been a lot slower and the bitcoin awareness is way higher right now than back then it is obvious there is going to be a decrease in price but it is not going to be a crash like the 2013 crash.
1482  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Japan the leader of Bitcoin trading on: August 18, 2017, 02:32:43 AM
Japan continues to lead in Bitcoin trading, guess japan is hope for the future of cryptocurrencies ;

https://blog.eth-price.com/2017/08/10/japan-korea-bitcoin-trading/

I think this was about to be expected, bitcoin is really big in Japan after it was legalized, so I will not be surprised if Japan becomes the biggest center of exchange of cryptocurrencies of the world.
1483  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are You A Sellout (Or Did You Hodl)? on: August 12, 2017, 09:28:55 PM
With the 1st of August in mind what actions have taken or not with regards to your bags of Bitcoin?
I held, I will not deny that I was scared with all the FUD going on but I decided to trust bitcoin and the results are there for everyone to see, bitcoin seems to be as strong as ever and it seems we are finally reaching the point were bitcoin is going to skyrocket.
1484  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: This is amazing on: August 12, 2017, 09:26:31 PM
My question is for long term is it better to wait or is the price going to keep rising. Maybe we have a new bottom?
I know it's speculation but curious what people are thinking.

it is impossible to tell with bitcoin. i don't know how DannyHamilton is 100% sure but what i say is that there is a pretty good chance that in long term price will keep on rising. it is a very simple supply and demand relationship and because the supply is limited and fixed and at the same time the demand is rising, price will rise.

but you know, bitcoin is still a new technology. it is even still in beta! and the market is too small and too volatile. which is why i say a "pretty good chance" instead of being 100% sure.
DannyHamilton is one of the persons with the most knowledge about bitcoin in the entire forum, however it is not important if bitcoin ever reaches that amount, the important message is that bitcoin is going to become extremely valuable in the future, so much that just holding one can be a life changer.
1485  Economy / Economics / Re: Why You Should Never Sell Your Bitcoins Ever on: August 12, 2017, 09:22:55 PM
Reading the responses to the recent topic titled, "I would sell all my bitcoins if…." has left me concerned.

The kinds of responses on that thread reveal a deep misunderstanding of bitcoin and the current monetary system in many of those who are speculating. Let's consider the scenario in which bitcoin reaches $1000 or let's say $10,000 per bitcoin. Many have said they will cash out if bitcoin reaches this point. Why??

If bitcoin reaches $10,000 it will have to be because the fiat currencies of the world are tumbling to worthlessness via a hyperinflation type scenario and bitcoin is the safe haven, which if you know anything about the current monetary systems of the world, you know this is inevitable. (there have been 3800 fiat currencies throughout history and EVERY SINGLE LAST ONE has crashed to worthlessness; a value of zero) Why would you then sell all of your sound money (Bitcoin) for a bunch of fiat money that is inevitably becoming worthless? I don't understand the logic in doing that.

If bitcoin ever reaches $10,000 per bitcoin, you will NEVER see me selling for fiat paper money. You may however see me having a shopping spree at Overstock.com or TigerDirect.com or NewEgg.com! I will be buying things I want with my bitcoin profits DIRECTLY WITH BITCOIN, not selling my bitcoin for paper fiat. Hopefully by then there will be many more options, perhaps even Amazon.com will be accepting bitcoin for goods and I can have my shopping spree there.

Point being, selling bitcoin for dollars seems counterproductive. Why convert your paper fiat currency into sound value storing superior bitcoin, only to sell all of your superior bitcoin back for worthless antiquated fiat currency again? Why not just spend the bitcoin itself to buy what you want instead of taking a loss by converting back into dollars which will inflate away eventually anyway?
You are correct but if I’m going to spend my bitcoin I prefer to do it in something that is an investment as well like a house and not in something that is going to lose a lot of value as soon as the next device comes into the market.
1486  Economy / Economics / Re: Would bitcoin help teach kids about saving? on: August 12, 2017, 09:20:47 PM
So I have 2 cousins. One of them doesn't save and is a huge spender while the other is a saver and spends only once a year. So would bitcoin be a good way to teach them about saving? Since, mining bitcoin is the only way to make alot of bitcoin, I would use a alt wallet to show them what happens if you spend and don't save. What do you think?
When it comes to teaching kids it is better to keep things simple so if you need to try to explain them about  decentralization, the blockchain, inflation, market cap, and things with that they are going to get confused, it is better to use some bills and teach them about saving that way.
1487  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: The History of Bitcoins! on: August 12, 2017, 09:17:45 PM
I thought I would share with new beginners of how Bitcoins started Smiley

Really interesting!

https://101options.com/the-history-of-bitcoins/
It was a good read, good for newbies and for people barely starting in bitcoin and other crypto, it is important to know bitcoin past so we can predict its future.
1488  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How do I start investing in cryptocurrency? on: August 12, 2017, 09:14:23 PM
You can definitely buy part of a bitcoin and not a whole coin. There is no benefit to buying a whole coin.

It is difficult to say if now is a good time to invest or not. We'll have to see what happens with Segwit, but long term it is probably still a good investment.
At the moment it is too expensive to buy bitcoin, the price has gone up very rapidly in this last week so I think it could be a good idea to wait since I think there are good chances the price goes down a little bit in the next days or weeks.
1489  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to buy bitcoin anonymously? on: August 11, 2017, 03:57:59 AM
Hi,

So I was looking to buy bitcoins anonymously and saw that there are only a few exchanges that claim so.

After reading reviews It seems coinmama allows buying btc anonymously but after creating account and trying to fund.. they say they need a ID before I can buy??? wtf? I read that they allow around $150 worth of btc without ID but I was buying only $120 worth so not sure why its asking me to upload an ID. So I backed out and now looking for some other providers.

Also, If I buy from any random exchange that doesn't support anonymous payment i.e. require ID etc what are the chances that they will know what I am doing with that BTC? Will there be a track record?
For eg I buy x amount of btc via coinmama to "54gfgf5g4..." this address and I use that address to start buying other altcoins on other platform, will there be a link/track record that will eventually lead to my coinmama account? Am I being paranoid lol :p

I am not looking to do any nasty stuff but I don't think I'll feel comfortable if I find out that my transactions can be tracked like this?

Thanks all!
The only way to buy bitcoin with some degree of anonymity is to buy it with cash, but you risk the fact that the person you bought from can record you so as you can see there is not a way to buy bitcoin in a completely anonymous way.
1490  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Best online Bitcoin wallet ? on: August 11, 2017, 03:54:43 AM
Hello,
I am looking for a good online Bitcoin wallet.
I want a wallet that respect my privacy (no log, no asking for ID card, no asking for my first name, etc...).
Low fee.
Do you have any idea ?
I think the best online wallet is blockchain.info but to be honest I think you should avoid using those wallets, and if you cannot, then only deposit a small amount of money in that wallet since you are subject to get hacked and lose your money.
1491  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Atheism brougth us nothing good! on: August 07, 2017, 05:15:52 AM
Atheist always want us to believe that our countries are doing so much better now that people are getting less religious!

But all that i see is:
-more depression and less simple happiness
-more organised crime (done by our governments)
-more rudeness
-more stress

What is your idea on this?
Unless you got some proof I do not see how can you blame that on atheism, that is happening all over the globe not only in countries where atheism is the strongest.
1492  Other / Off-topic / Re: Should I Go To College ??? on: August 07, 2017, 05:13:56 AM
Hi everyone,

What advice would you give a HS senior in US about to decide on and/or enter college ?

yes you should go to college. There are more opportunities when you are a degree holder.

Yeah i know that but Americans gaining a loan in college is big problem Sad Sad

I'm not lucky
This is the issue, if you cannot go to college without getting into debt, then I suggest to you that you find a job for a year, save every single penny and see if now you can attend the cheapest college that you can, get a useful degree something that has job prospect and keep working in your free time, maybe even earning bitcoin, and get a job during your vacations, if you do that you will have low or no debt and will be ready to make your life a success.
1493  Economy / Economics / Re: Tech Giants: Above the Law on: August 04, 2017, 11:59:32 PM
Okay, so I was running through my subbed Youtube channels and came upon this video by Scott Galloway and it got me thinking. Should the taxes really be increased for these companies? I mean, many of them are not even creating content and making money out of our data and they still get taxed less than most other type of businesses.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=auydnF-Qu_w
That would not work they can always move their operations to another country or they can use intricate legal ways to get away with paying no taxes, you do not have to like it but that is the way things are.
1494  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: wtf is this... on: August 04, 2017, 11:57:06 PM
messing around with the website I typed random characters in the number of the page and actually found an address that had 0.04 Btc, it said 0.04 total received final balance 0... is this rare??? I didn't record the address though I just kept looking.

each day i see i don't really understand the Bitcoin protocol, i need to learn what cryptography is and how really bitcoin works.
Well, at least something good will come from this experience, probably the first thing you should do is to read the bitcoin white paper, in fact I think that should be mandatory.
1495  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: New York City Employee Disciplined For Mining Bitcoin at Work on: August 04, 2017, 11:54:32 PM
There is not much to see the man is guilty, he abused his position, we love bitcoin but that is the truth I’m surprised he was not fired, since he generated a lot of expenses for the company.
1496  Other / Off-topic / Re: The Emoji movie? on: August 04, 2017, 11:52:17 PM
Did you watch it? I was thinking to go to the movie theater but IMDB is giving it 1.5/// Grin Grin Grin Grin
I have not seen it but dude is a movie about Emojis, it is going to suck if you want to waste your money by all means do so but do not let Hollywood get away with producing horrible movies and yet to have profits from them.
1497  Other / Off-topic / Re: Is Mind Reading Possible? on: August 04, 2017, 11:50:08 PM
I have seen this video, where it claims that Mind Reading technology is possible:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7kGZemt2P9M

Quote
Researchers at Carnegie Mellon University recently made a scientific breakthrough using machine algorithms to accurately guess what people are thinking. In other words, as the university referred to it, they have “harness[ed] ‘mind reading’ technology to decode complex thoughts.”

Quote

What is your opinion about these news? Is Mind Reading Possible? And how it will affect Bitcoin private keys? How will this affect the passwords that you hold in your brain?
Big words, but that is under laboratory conditions, , until the activity of the brain is fully mapped something like that is not possible and even then you could try to cheat by thinking something else.
1498  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Renewable Energy on: August 03, 2017, 03:45:37 AM
In this technological era, some advancements have potential to make our world cleaner and greener. Do you think that it is possible? That people would start doing it in their own little ways that they can eventually have an impact on our environment?

Lots of scientific studies are out there being researched and developed, for example, the artificial photosynthesis. It's where you make a plastic coating of some sorts that will get CO2 or something and make cleaner air. That's where it's going to boom when it's practical to make for everyone to use.

Do you believe that the research papers now can have an impact? Cite examples and do you think that it's possible?
Renewable sources of energy are not really that renewable, many electric cars use many rare metals that as their name implies are rare  so it is not easy to find them and are rare, so renewable energies are not as good as some think.
1499  Other / Off-topic / Re: How did you get into Bitcoin? on: August 03, 2017, 03:39:45 AM
I was asking myself how did I get into bitcoin and I took a little to remember. The very beginning was when I was about to buy a graphic card . . . . I was googling it and find about bitcoin I was trying to got bitcoin but I was very hard to earn bitcoin.I was away and now am again come back....
To be honest I do not remember exactly how I got into bitcoin, I remember that I wanted to buy something but when I saw the payment methods I realized I had nothing that I could use to pay, but then I saw something that said bitcoin and when I researched I found that buying bitcoin was very easy, at the end I did not bought anything but thanks to that I became part of bitcoin.
1500  Other / Off-topic / Re: i got a crush to someone who already has a boyfriend on: July 28, 2017, 02:58:20 AM
thank you everyone for the advice! so its 100% 'let it go' Grin oh well, i will try that. yeah my original intention was trying to seize her, but that's maybe im not thinking straight. i better chill out first and and keep myself calm.
My advice is to keep your options open, maybe she will become available later, but since at the moment she is not then try to find someone else, you never know you may find someone more compatible.
