1481  Local / India / Re: Indian Stock Markets VS Bitcoin on: September 08, 2023, 08:01:59 AM
Recently I came across an article that celebrated the Indian stock market's performance. It seems the Indian stock market has delivered a 10.9% return, which is higher than the US & China.

It is great news that the Indian economy is shining and growth has been straight upward in the last decade. As an Indian, it makes me proud when I recall where we were in 2013 to where we are now in 2023. Within that emotional outburst of pride in my mind, a strange question popped up, which was to compare the ROI both from Bitcoin and the Stock Market.

Let's do the math for the Indian Stock Market. If you had invested $100 ten years back with an ROI of 10.9%, your money would have become $235 approximately by now. Not bad considering not many bank FDs or mutual funds are able to generate such an ROI.

Now, let's do the math for Bitcoin. Again, the investment amount in this case would be $100. In August of 2013, the average price of Bitcoin was $135. Considering the price, you would have bought 0.74 Bitcoin. In August of 2023, the average price of Bitcoin was $27,297, which would result in your $100 investment growing to $20,200 ten years later. That is a 201 times return on your initial investment of $100 or, in simple words, a 20100% return.

Think again - which is better, Bitcoin or the Stock Market? If you are someone with diamond hands, then Bitcoin is the right investment. The potential for enormous growth and returns far exceeds traditional investments.
No doubt I support crypto market a lot, but the truth is it's not fair to compare it with stock market and claim it's better than stock market. We all very well know that stock markets pricing atleast in a longer term has been based on prices derived directly through performance and earnings of companies which too have grown at a very similar scale, while Crypto markets run has been more on hype so far, the projects even though have been launched but nowhere can we see the real word value addition that they have delivered of such amounts. Also it's like comparing a highly risky investment with a relatively very low risky investment. Obviously with change of risk the returns changes by too much.

Lastly a very big point is, you are comparing the market indicies returns with bitcoin return, compare it with an individual share like Bajaj finance, which too has been insane.

I remember a video that circulated on the internet about a person calling ZEE business channel. The caller had found that his grand dad had purchased 20k shares of MRF in 1990. He wanted to know the current valuation of those share. It was revealed to him that those shares are valued at 130cr. I agree diamond hands always win but I don't agree that Bitcoin is the only asset that can give you good ROI. There are others that are giving or have given good ROI both in crypto & stock market.

1486  Local / India / UPI ATM! Another achivement in Fintech by India on: September 06, 2023, 10:13:12 AM
You all will agree that the quantum of new tech emerging in our country (especially in Fintech) in the last decade has been unimaginable. Recently a new fintech UPI ATM has been launched. You can use any UPI payment processor like Paytm, phonepe or gpay to withdraw cash from a UPI ATM by only scanning the bar code dispayed on the ATM machine.

Banks were already providing similar service known as cardless cash withdrawal. The problem was that it can only done on that particular bank's ATM using the banking app. With UPI ATM you are able to withdraw cash from any banks saving account and you don't  need to use that particular bank's ATM.

1487  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Cricket Asia Cup 2023! Which team will WIN? on: September 06, 2023, 09:44:39 AM
Bangladesh won the toss, selected batting first. 1st over maiden, second over lost a wicket. They are now becoming so unpredictable. This match is between two unpredictable teams. It won't be easy to conclude which team will win the match. I am supporting Pakistan because they have two best fast bowlers and a good middle order. I believe we will end up seeing a match that will deliver more excitement than yesterdays one.
1488  Local / India / Re: India or Bharat on: September 06, 2023, 09:03:23 AM
Yes, it is mentioned in the Constitution. That doesn't mean that the government cannot use India. It means that both the names can be used by the government. For example we all know Germany, whereas Germans prefer Deutschland. This is a silly controversy raised by the opposition.

It has become a habit of the existing ruling party to come up with a new policy and the opposition to always create a  controversy surrounding it. I don't think that in the upcoming session of Parliament India's name would be changed to Bharat. I feel both names would be used in the future by the government.

Pakistan VS India WC match ticket cost!

This is outrageous! BCCI and ICC needs to look into this issue. Cost of ticket for this match is more than cost of a decent car in India. There are a few individuals who actually might have paid such a hefty price for the tickets. That is why it got reported by the mainstream media.

There are rumours that Indian team might be wearing jersey with the new name Bharat in the world cup rather than India. There are chances that the Indian team would be know as Bharat team or Team Bharat after the Indian government special session of Parliament concludes.
1490  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: [β] BPIP Extension: user info & extra features add-on/extension, Firefox/Chrome on: September 06, 2023, 07:58:25 AM

You are going to choose between just downloading one of those browsers you hate, or having to go through a nightmare of searching through different YouTube channels to see if you can actually manage to add chrome or Firefox extensions onto your Safari.

I have no Apple product to test this, but there is a YouTube video taking about adding Chrome extensions to your safari browser. However, you are going to need some specific requirements
How to get Google Chrome Extensions in Safari follow-up video -->> How to PERMANENTLY Add Google Chrome Extensions to Safari

Thanks for your suggestion. I did went ahead and checked the video. It does looks complicated, found a few articles on the topic. I will look into it and if possible work on it. There is zero guarantee that it will work as the video does say the same. It would have been good to have safari browser extension. If it doesn't work than the last resort for me would be to use Firefox browser which I consider better than Chrome.
1491  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: [β] BPIP Extension: user info & extra features add-on/extension, Firefox/Chrome on: September 05, 2023, 11:48:36 AM
I have a few noob questions about this extension. You guys might have discussed about it on this thread. As it is not that easy to scroll through so many pages to find an answer. Here is what I want to know.

  • How to add this extension on my Safari Browser?
  • I did not find it on app store. Does that mean I need a thrid party to add it?
  • Why the developers are not interested in getting out a Safari based extension

I am new to MAC OS and I have been struggling to find an answer to my query. I hope someone helps me with the process of getting it activated on my Safari Browser. I am aware I can download Chrome and Firefox and get it installed. I can do that but I don't like them and that is why I am asking this question.

Thanks.
1492  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why is KYC mandatory in CEX? on: September 05, 2023, 11:26:50 AM
Bitget has been doing such policy changes for sometime now. A few months back, for upto 50k, KYC was not mandatory. Then a few days back they again changed their policy and made KYC mandatory for every user.

I feel they are using KYC as an instrument to get new users. Earlier they had a signature campaign in the forum when they relaxed the KYC norm. I guess as soon as they hit a target of a certain number of users they abruptly closed the campaign and again made KYC mandatory.

CEX as they are centralized are know to use such kind of marketing tricks to gain new users. I remember Bitget relaxed KYC as soon as Kucoin implemented mandatory KYC. It is how churning of users are done by CEX like Bitget. It is better to use a DEX if you are someone who doesn't like going through KYC and please stay away from airdrops. They are a big waste of time after 2019.
1493  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Scale Measuring Crypto Literacy Good for Pretest/ Posttest in Community Outreach on: September 05, 2023, 10:49:36 AM
I went through the link and found out that it is 30+ page PDF file. It can be downloaded and next time if any friend or family member of mine argues that they know everything about Bitcoin then I would ask them to go through these questions. If anyone is able to solve even 50 percentage of those questions then it is assumable that they have decent knowledge in this field. I have downloaded the PDF file and plan to solve those questions. The ones that OP has listed were easy to solve.

It is really good to see such an initiative by the University. Already more than 300 downloads have been registered in just a few days. It looks like people are showing good interest in this project.

Indian squad for the World Cup announced!

K L Rahul is back, which order will he bat is uncertain. I think they will not make any changes to the existing opening pair. I feel he will come after Kholi and most probably Kishan will come after him and Iyer after Kishan. Apart from Rahul the team is exactly the same that is currently playing in the Asia Cup. This might be the last World Cup for a few senior players in the team.

As per their statement on X.com the attack happened on ETH/BSC hot wallet. Which I am assuming that are deposit of users. They do claim that user funds are secured which means users would get thier cryptos back from their reserved wallet. That is expected from a big online casino like them. Now, question is can they get those funds back from the hacker. In most cases these are inside job and the way they are again business as usual they might already know how to get those funds back.
1496  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Cricket Asia Cup 2023! Which team will WIN? on: September 05, 2023, 08:24:01 AM
@JSRAW honestly team India is performing really poorly and if these are the player’s playing in the World Cup too then I doubt that India can win it even if it’s being played in their country. Furthermore senior player’s need to do more then just make statements because the game is won on the field and not by talking off the pitch hence I hope that in the next match they’ll step up and deliver or soon they’ll be removed from the team due to their non performances.

I agree that this Indian side which might also play in the World Cup is not performing as expected. Just look at yesterday's match Nepali tail enders made a joke of Indian pacers. Kami scored 48 runs in just 56 balls, every short played by him was actually in the gap. Rohit Sharma was agressive yesterday why was he not able to play in the same manner against Pakistan. If it wasn't Jadeja then Nepal would have gone beyond 250 runs. At the moment the Indian side looks confused and unsettled. Not a good sign if they will be playing in the Wold Cup.

Today will be played, the last match of the group stage of Asia Cup Sri Lanka vs Afghanistan. If Sri Lanka wins this match, they can directly play in the Super Four. If Afghanistan wants to play in the Super Four, Afghanistan will have to win by a huge margin. Sri Lanka is a strong team, so it is very difficult for Afghanistan to win against Sri Lanka by a big margin. Currently, Afghanistan is not in good form. These two teams Bangladesh and Sri Lanka will qualify to play in the Super Four from Group B.

My money is on Srilankan team as they play really well in their home. Afghanistan batters will face issue with the Srilankan spin attack. In the match against Bangladesh the spinners were the reason why Bangladesh failed to set a good target. The same situation can happen today.
1497  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Help me exchange my bitcoins on: September 04, 2023, 01:00:23 PM
LocalBitcoins and Paxful are both entirely centralized and both demand full KYC. LocalCryptos has shutdown.

If OP doesn't trust exchanges, then he isn't going to want to use a fake peer to peer site like LBC or Paxful which will still collect his data and invade his privacy. A better option would be pick a site from https://kycnot.me/?type=exchange such as Bisq or AgoraDesk and use that to find a reputable local trader.

You're right and I appreciate your clarification. Thank you for providing a more privacy-focused solution.

LocalBitcoins has already halted it's services globally. I am not sure why are we discussing about them. The same is applicable for LocalCryptos. Paxful did discontinue their services due to internal issues of the team. Later on they again started it, which is why they cannot be trusted. At the moment the best option is Agoradesk. Bisq has issues with fiat liquidity, depends on the location OP is situated.

I have zero clue as to why OP opted for Bitcoin wherein the whole purpose was to get local fiat. This topic shows how people like OP get influenced by others about Bitcoin for short term gain and then they come to the forum for solutions.

1499  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Cricket Asia Cup 2023! Which team will WIN? on: September 04, 2023, 10:32:20 AM
Nepal started well and at one point they were having a run rate of 6 and above. Thanks to Shardul Thakur the opening partnership was broken and now the run rate is below 6. I was not expecting that Nepal would have such a good start. It depends now whether the middle order would be able to maintain the currenct run rate and form a partnership. Indian seamers are not looking that good as expected from them. I want Nepal to give a decent target so that the Indian batters like Rohit, Kohli and Gill are able to regain their confidence by playing a good innings in this match.

Great batting by Bangladesh in yesterdays match. This is how you should bat and really it was a good comeback by the Bangladesh batters against Afghanistan. Their bowlers were out ideas to beat the Bangladeshi batters. It is not easy for any time to chase a target which is beyond 300 runs.
