I use a spam email address for some of these sites and stuck it in at vnbitcoin.org. I got paid out 0.0001, and haven't had a dramatic increase in spam. It only lets you submit once though, so it's not really a faucet.

Thanks for the report.

yes QT 0.8.5 installed and sycned

aha, "try again" no help but actually quitting armory and restarting after unchecking the box works...thanks

Yes, I found it best to do a restart after changing any of the settings.

free bitcoin at vnbitcoin.org

http://www.vnbitcoin.org/freebitcoin.php

Why is an email address required?
( Can anyone confirm this to be a legit site? I don't like submitting my address to any site. )

Is it a one time payout?

Thanks for the submission.

I get suspicious when they ask for my email address without a reason. You could try filling in a fake email address.

Grin Just got .001 BTC from them .   anyone else receiving BTC from them yet ?

I got mine too. No problems

Thanks for the report.

going to add http://www.vnbitcoin.org/freebitcoin.php  to your list ?

I am still suspicious about your requiring an email address.

What does everyone else think?

I am not sure what that proves.  And why are you talking like it isn't your site?

I like the site and I know the owner but I am not the owner. I also promote the site in my profile .
it looks like you don't like my comments on your section and added a https://bitcointalk.org/annoyance*.php
link to it .  so this the last time I will be on your section .
have a nice day

More than my list this is the communities list. I asked for feedback from the community. If it is positive it will be added.

My job isn't to promote these various sites which offer free Bitcoins. It is to help newbies get used to using Bitcoin by
gathering small amounts of BTC from these faucets in as safe a manner as possible.  Suspicious sites that ask for
email and other personal information get extra scrutiny and need some positive feedback from people who have
used the site. To have newbies go to unverified sites and possibly get scammed won't give them a good impression
of Bitcoin and will go against what this list is all about.

If your site doesn't get any good feedback it is not the fault of this list. I have said nothing bad about your site but
just said it *seems* suspicious to me, and merely asked the community what they think about it.

I am curious as to how much a faucet has to pay out before it gets to be added. After all, 0.000002 BTC is still twice as much as what you get from each of the Coinbox.me faucets.

A payout needs to be above ~ 0.00005500 to be non-dust. ( you don't want to accumulate dust in your wallet... it makes it hard to get your transactions confirmed,
and/or makes them large with higher than usual fees etc. You can read more about this in many threads on these forums. )

Even though it seems each of those coinbox faucets only pays out dust they are off-blockchain transactions which build up in your coinbox account, if you will ( one doesn't have to sign up for an account with coinbox; just use any of the faucets using the same address and payouts are automatic when a certain level is reached ). Coinbox doesn't payout until ones balance, for a particular address, builds up above dust levels.

Added...  Welcome!

For any other newbies:
When your address is in your sig. you have to explicitly point to it and say you want to be added to the lotto.

Thanks Portnoy! Weird I just created that wallet for public uses (tips, trades, etc), and someone sent me 0.000125 yesterday! lol. I have only used it on signature from here. Weird!

Yes, its always good to put an address out there... never know when someone might be in a generous mood.   Wink

1495  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: RAM-Reduction & Backup Center Testing (version 0.89.99.10) on: November 11, 2013, 03:51:28 AM
Yes I installed 0.89.99.10 and tried it and then uninstalled it using the control panel
and reinstalled 0.89.99.8.

I am now in expert mode and under the help menu it still just lists the 3 choices:
About Armory
Armory Version...
Revert All Settings

Those three options were added in 0.89.99.10.

Hmm...
Well I reinstalled 0.89.99.8 and that is what displays in the left side of the client now: "Armory 0.89.99.8 / Expert"
When I choose that 'About Armory' option it displays 0.89.99.8-beta as well.
When I choose 'Armory Version' it says I am in offline mode and can't retrieve the version from the internet, even though the status bar says I am "Connected (268942 blocks)".

Now, after another restart it seems stuck at "Initializing Bitcoin Engine"... but all the wallets display their balances and the status bar saying what it says above:
"Connected (268942 blocks)"

Very strange behavior, can you send me a log file?

Where would you like me to send it?

Quote
Personally I've never seen it show connected & balances, but not also say "Armory is Online" on the dashboard.  It's almost like you somehow have a mixture of multiple versions...

Also, you should consider running Bitcoin-Qt yourself, and uncheck the first checkbox in the settings (about letting Armory run it for you).  Then try again -- sometimes it just doesn't do the auto-bitcoind well..

I did that and it seemed to start okay and quicker than it ever has before. It has been running for close to 10 minutes now and everything seems to be displayed correctly ( transaction tab accessible and scrollable ) but that Help menu still has those 3 choices you said are from the latest version.

Now that it seems to be running alright I am kinda reluctant to uninstall this version and try 0.89.99.10 again.   Undecided

Thanks for the assistance, hope my feedback helps.

Is there anything that can be done when it is stuck at "Build Databases and Scan - 62% 15 seconds"?
The 'Transactions' tab is greyed out; the lower right status bar says connected and seems to show
the correct number of blocks; the wallets all display the correct balances( haven't tried any
transactions to see if they update correctly ).

I shut it down and restarted it several times and each time soon after starting it gets to a point where
it is displaying properly; the transaction tab is accessible and scrollable and everything seems to be
working properly and then after a short while it switches to the Dashboard tab and says it is not
connected ( even though the text in the status bar still says it is ) and then after a few minutes it goes
back to that "Build Databases and Scan - 62% 15 seconds", like I describe above, and just stays like that...

This is with ArmorySetup-0.89.99.8-beta_win32.exe
on Windows 7 64-bit.

The latest test version starts for me but never even gets to displaying wallet balances or saying connected in the status bar...

Thanks

Did you install 0.89.99.10?  It was just posted yesterday.

Since I messed a bit with the DB ops, go ahead and do a rebuild if you don't mind waiting for it.  From the help menu "Rebuild and Rescan Databases".  Let me know if you have the same problem after that.

I don't see that option under the help menu. Do I have to be in expert mode?
