1481  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin price increases $1,000 per day. That's insane! on: November 30, 2017, 01:10:28 PM
Bitcoin already marching $13,000 as of this writing.
what! where?
you wrote this 4-5 hours ago, and by then price was already on a down trend. the ATH happened nearly 24 hours ago and it was $11480, nowhere near $13k and as of now price is below $10k for its correction course.

Quote
Do you believe that Bitcoin will reach more than $15,000 before 2018?
What are your thoughts?
well the current correction put everything on hold. i don't see any FUD or big dumps to make it worse for now but they can happen at any time and postpone the rise even further down the line.
1482  Economy / Speculation / Re: ONE MIRRION DORRAR on: November 30, 2017, 01:03:25 PM
well a couple of years ago when they first said bitcoin is heading towards $10,000 nobody believed it. there are actually topics here asking when will bitcoin be worth that much and most people say 2020 or never or something crazy like that. and here we are above $10,000 and nobody even blinks!

can it be 1 million? yes. it may take some time but it will get there too. we need to start using Satoshi as the unit of measurement for bitcoin not 1 whole bitcoin.
1483  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Switch BTC to altcoin or take profit by selling? on: November 28, 2017, 02:31:39 PM
for me the choice is obvious. if i really speculate a drop (which i don't at the moment, just for the record) then i sell to fiat and wait for the dip to end in order to buy back at the bottom.

- send my BTC to Kraken and sell high, buy in lower (hence the server errors on Kraken at a normal day I expect many difficulties to sell/buy when the market starts to move, so this wouldn't be my top pick)
if you are expecting a tiny drop like 5-10% then what you say makes sense. otherwise a bigger drop lasts longer and it only becomes hard to sell when everyone else starts panic selling. and if you do really expect a drop then you should act on it faster and before others do.

Quote
- switch from BTC to altcoins via Exodus/Shapeshift exchange; spread over 3 or 4 coins (I am thinking 33% LTC, 33% ETH and 33% in another supported coin like DASH or maybe Bitcoin Cash) this would be my favorite play
this is a good option only if you think these altcoins will go up equal or greater than the amount you expect bitcoin to drop.
if bitcoin drops 30% and these alts drop with it (like they always do) you lose more money!
if they rise but not rise equal to 30% drop of bitcoin, you again lose money

for example recently (last drop) when bitcoin went from $7800 to $5500 (-29% drop) ETH went from $330 to $295 (-10% drop) and LTC from $66 to $57 (-13% drop)
dash was the only one which went up but that was because it was already being pumped, other times it follows down like others!
1484  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin could 'easily' reach $40,000, says man who predicted current high on: November 28, 2017, 02:10:52 PM
The problem is that there are so many predictions that no one knows which to follow. Whilst he may have done a correct prediction now, he may just as well be wrong next time  Undecided

how about just stop following what others say and come up with your own "prediction". everyone who has ever made some speculation has some reasons behind it, read them and learn from their speculation. try to analyze why they come up with it and also try to figure out which one is true and which one is far fetched.
1485  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Incredible!! Bitcoin Is Now More Valuable Than Many Popular Companies on: November 28, 2017, 02:04:34 PM
Analysts say the bullish rally is as a result of the acceptance and integration of Bitcoin by institutional investors like ... JP Morgan, ...

zycrypto.com

i wonder where you get your information from? based on things i saw you posting here from your website above, i say pure guesses just to create click-baits!

last time i checked JP Morgan CEO was calling bitcoin a fraud! where did you get "acceptance and integration" from that statement, i will never know!
1486  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: When BTC crashes, which Alt will hold its fiat value? on: November 26, 2017, 12:53:03 PM
if you think bitcoin is going to crash then keep fiat and only fiat. better yet keep it in form of cash.

altcoins will get dumped, and when they do they will also lose fiat value at the same time. the dump takes everything down not just the bitcoin value of them. and they are not trusted investments to begin with.

tether is also a terrible choice by the way, the company backing it can disappear in a blinking of an eye.
1487  Economy / Speculation / Re: What is the peak of this bull run? on: November 26, 2017, 12:39:13 PM
or maybe you saw the one time Mt Gox 500% pump within a month and think that can repeat?
Bubbles can occur, yes.

yeah but that still doesn't mean we are going to see an 83% drop for no reason just because it has happened once before due to a 1-month-pump.
1488  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Where I can download electrum wallet? on: November 26, 2017, 12:33:56 PM
i don't have any issue accessing the website, there must be some issue on your side. maybe some SSL thing in your browser. try using another browser and see if that works.
use latest version of Firefox or Chrome.

or try checking this link https://github.com/spesmilo/electrum/releases it is the source code which also has the tarballs used for installation on Linux. you have to compile it yourself for windows.
1489  Economy / Speculation / Re: What is the peak of this bull run? on: November 26, 2017, 12:20:27 PM
So I expect to see us smash through $10k perhaps even $11k or $12k followed by a big fall, maybe down to $2k if past performance is any guide.

what "past performance" is that? the always rising market where we see 30% corrections in worse case scenario which never even last longer than a month before price corrects back up to where it was before and continue rising?
that won't take us to $2k.

or maybe you saw the one time Mt Gox 500% pump within a month and think that can repeat?
1490  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: BTG vs BCH on: November 24, 2017, 02:32:58 PM
BCH has Roger Ver + Jihan Wu behind it, and possibly others with deep pockets who will both pump it and prevent its crash. something similar to how they pump ethereum and keep the price up with fake buy walls.
they also advertise the hell out of it every day everywhere. specially during the pumps.

BTG doesn't really have anyone! the developers team failed to even advertise the coin and "get the word out" properly before the fork!
additionally BTG has a huge premine of 200K coins which is a big downside to it if you ask me.

and finally, it is a little too soon to compare the price of the two. BTG was released not so long ago. people are still figuring out how to dump the free coins they have gotten. at the same time BCH was released nearly 3 months ago and those who wanted have already dumped what they have received.
1491  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How to calculate a possible earning from an ICO? on: November 24, 2017, 02:24:46 PM
you can't measure these things. that is why many consider investing in an ICO as gambling. even if some of them have a "product" as you say, it doesn't really change anything in my opinion. that "product" still has to have some demand for them to be able to grow and sustain their prices.

and so far all the ICOs that i have seen were full of "talk" and pretty words. they all seem like they are going to change the world when they get the money, but as soon as they receive it and cash it out, all the development and pretty words stop.
1492  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Trading Strategies of Some Experts. on: November 24, 2017, 02:15:45 PM
as we all know, altcoins get pump and dumped a lot. this creates a neat little strategy that i have been using for a while and is profitable although risky.
this strategy is to check the market from time to time to see which coin is getting pumped that day. for example you see BCH is rising today from 0.012BTC, and the volume looks good.
you then invest in it and enjoy the ride to 0.02BTC and when it slowed down, you start selling for your daily profit.

additionally it is good to listen to the altcoin news to see if there is any reason for these pumps. for example BCH had the Bitstamp news which was a good indicator.
1493  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Account Holder Loses $100K Over Public Wireless Network on: November 24, 2017, 01:56:53 PM
another stupid clickbait out of cointelegraph, i am not surprised. they keep doing that, we should really start a campaign for boycotting these fake news sites which spread bullshit and call it "articles". if we don't give them any traffic they will lose  revenue and eventually they will either close down their bullshit machine or start putting some thought into their posts.

it is the same as signature campaigns here! if you don't ban the spammers they will continue shitting all over the forum.
1494  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What's Deference between Bitcoin and Bitcoin Diamond? on: November 24, 2017, 01:50:57 PM
once upon a time someone with a vision who thought monetary systems are corrupt, banks are evil,... started a decentralized revolution to create a peer to peer currency. he then called it "bitcoin".

some years past, people saw this "bitcoin" thing is a valuable thing. there is a lot of money to be made from it, so they started copying it without wasting a time to really add anything valuable to that revolution.... one of these copies is called bitcoin diamond.

that is the difference for you.
1495  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is It advisable to quit my present job for bitcoin? on: November 23, 2017, 01:44:14 PM
you'll still have to do some job to make money. so you are not really quitting job in general!
and depending on that job you do, you may earn a lot more or a lot less. for example trading that you have in mind can be a beast of a thing when you go all in and become more serious about it. you invest a larger amount and then the stress that you will experience every day when there is the smallest swings may make you make mistakes and mistakes on a large investment is costly.
1496  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: 3rd time is the charm. Will Ethereum break trought sell wall at $400? on: November 23, 2017, 01:38:14 PM
probably yes.
there is a good window of opportunity because bitcoin has stopped rising or falling and it is stable, this will soon close. but as long as it is not, the altcoins can be pumped. additionally there currently are some big ICOs that are predicted to raise a lot of money and people are buying Ether to participate in those and that is like an automatic pump.
it is interesting to see how much they can pump it this time around, i recon this is not one of those long lasting pumps anyways.
1497  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why is BCH not King? on: November 22, 2017, 12:21:46 PM
See the sheer block size that would need to be implemented if you do the maths, and you see the magnitude of the problem.

i agree with some of the things you say but i am not yet convinced about either one of the solutions that are being proposed.

things are never as easy as just increase the block size and be  done with it. increase by how much? the 8 MB of BCH? if we assume your numbers are correct that is 8*7=56 tx/sec that is still nowhere near 2000.
so what will we gain with that kind of increase? we just made running a full node 8 times harder.

i say on chain scaling is needed but i ask myself by how much? we can not have 500 MB blocks which is nearly 2000 tx/sec
that is where Lightning Network comes in. although that is less centralized than on-chain scaling but it is a solution to get that much tx/sec.
1498  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: 150$ to trade on: November 22, 2017, 12:02:36 PM
First question is wich exchanges are better for this? I was thinking to split this 150$ on Livecoin, HitBtc, Cryptopia and Yobit. The reason is because the have a lot of markets. What do you think, is a good idea?
don't know about Livecoin
HitBtc is a decent place
Cryptopia is very good but it is still one of the small exchanges but it is growing
Yobit is bad and shady.
Bittrex that someone suggested is acting very shady these days, they even scammed people recently
Poloniex is good with high volume but many users have lots of issues with their services and it is based in US and that is always bad and best be avoided if you can.

Quote
Second question, wich is better in your opinion? Arbitrage or buy low sell high?
arbitrage has its benefits but normal trading is always better in my opinion specially for starters.

Quote
PS: I want to make a challenge, make 1000$ from 150$. Cheesy

good plan, but try not to get greedy, and try to learn how the altcoins work and how you can make profit from their pumps before investing.
1499  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: etc fork? on: November 22, 2017, 11:53:42 AM
i am not really following ethereum development but since ETC is a fork of ETH and ethereum developers implemented the "difficulty bomb" a long time ago before the DAO disaster and the fork, that means ETC has that bomb too which means if i understand correctly it will soon become impossible to mine ETC with PoW just the way ETH is going to be. and they will be forced to do a hard fork and solve it either by removing it or by switching to PoS.
1500  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why is BCH not King? on: November 22, 2017, 11:42:48 AM
they change a simple parameter from 1MB to 2MB),

they removed SegWit and a couple of other features such as RBF and changed the block size from 1 to 8 MB not 2.

There have been years in which to solve this problem, or implement some breathing space. SegWit was one example of breathing space that we finally got, but 1MB block sizes simply will not do it, the transaction volume it can process is too small. Unless you wished to keep bitcoin as a 'store' of value, in which case an altcoin like BCH or Litecoin will take over for day to day currency use.

the issue with SegWit and scaling is that unless a great number of people start using SegWit transctions, we won't see any change in this "breathing space" that you are talking about.

the block size is 1 MB as long as nobody uses SegWit. but if more start using it, the size will also increase. currently it is a little above 1 and with the highest at 1.5 MB. the maximum that it can go is 4 MB.

hopefully with the release of new wallet versions like Electrum 3+ people use SegWit more and we can see this scaling in action.

in fact this is one of the reasons behind SegWit2x, they said increase the normal block size to 2 MB so that even if no one uses SegWit we can have at least 2 MB blocks, but with that we had 8 MB total block size (hence the 2x thing)
