1481  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum master private key on: December 05, 2016, 10:33:40 PM
Hello, i have the following questions:

1. Is the master private key the same as the seed? If no then:

2. How to use the `getmasterprivate` in a linux command line, can somebody explain the syntax how to use it? For example if I put my wallet in the /home folder, how to retrieve it's master private key?

1. Strictly speaking it's not the same. The seed mnemonic is run through hashing functions and then out comes the master private key. So the seed is used to derive the master private key which is used to derive all the address specific private keys.

seed mnemonic > master private key > nearly unlimited addresses and associated key pairs.

2.
Code:
electrum getmasterprivate -w /path/to/wallet_file
. wallet files are in ~/.electrum/wallets. ~/ is your home directory.

Yes thank you, I have figured it out now.

Well it's run through hashing functions so I wouldn't say no information is lost. By definition hashing functions will take input of arbitrary size and output a number of a fixed size. You can't convert the output of the hashing function back into its input. That's why they are also called trap door functions.

I understand that the xprivkey (the master private key) is derived from the seed, and that no information is lost when calculating the xprivkey from the seed.

I believe that you can generate the same wallet from either the seed or the xprivkey

The way I understand is that the xprivkey and the seed are both substitutes, so it doesnt matter which one you have, both can recover the wallet.

However the seed supercedes the xprivkey, and the xprivkey can't be reversed into the seed. But the seed only exists to be easy to remember, so logically you want to use the seed instead of the master private. I just need the xprivkey command to test something.

Sounds great... paying gas to post when I can immutably post to the Steem blockchain for free.

Right now I'll settle for just getting my Ethereum wallet to sync...

Plus ETH is not immutable as seen what happened to the DAO. Steemit didnt had any issues like that.

1488  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Monero Lightweight Wallet on: December 01, 2016, 08:19:48 PM
Jaxx will probably have Monero integration in the next couple weeks or maybe a month.
A few more months for an official GUI wallet probably.
I'm sure someone here knows the approximate dates.

Can't wait that much, the price is going up too fast.... I hope i really gets out before spring.

1490  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Monero Lightweight Wallet on: November 30, 2016, 11:28:27 PM
I am looking for a Monero lightweight GUI wallet like Electrum for Bitcoin. Is there such thing out there, if not then why?

Also is it possible to do offline transactions and sign them offlie but broadcast them online without needing to download the entire blockchain.

I see that the webwallet doesnt accept new people, so Its really hard to use this currency now. Please help.

it is interesting, why steemit dont use advertising selling on steemit platform? it can interested a lot of investors. Also it will help to support sbd withou steem dump.

Ad revenue would be so little to sustain Steem or SBD price that it's not worth the inconvenience for the users. Also these users are basically the owners of the platform and content creatores, so I'm not sure who will benefit for showing ads there or what type.

The real problem with Steemit is that their content quality is pathetic compared to Facebook, Reddit, Medium, etc. If the content was superior and it had actual demand from the mainstream like the previously mentioned I could see how "blogging is the new mining" could work and justify the crazy inflation model. But as you have it now you are basically throwing money to keep a endless hyperinflation scheme running.

Steem replacing Youtube has never worked for me.

Check a 3 months chart. Facts do speak for themselves.

Steem is more like a competitor for Reddit and Medium.

We will see about the others later when it grows a little bit more.

Hello, i have the following questions:

1. Is the master private key the same as the seed? If no then:
Some what. You use the master private key and you can derive all the addresses associated with it.
2. How to use the `getmasterprivate` in a linux command line, can somebody explain the syntax how to use it? For example if I put my wallet in the /home folder, how to retrieve it's master private key?
I'm not sure about extracting it from a command line. You could do it by using a text editor to open your wallet file and search for xprv. Just make sure that the wallet file is not encrypted.

There is a command for electrum that can be executed from the linux command line it goes something like this:

`electrum getmasterprivate ...`

I am not sure how to handle the arguments of that command, I am not good with linux syntaxes.

How you get $ for followers.

I don't, I am just expanding my audience now.

Later when my audience will buy more STEEM they will have more voting power, and they can vote on my posts with more power, so I will make more money /post.

It's a long term investment into followers.

Hi sorry if I come just now to post my review.

I have read the guide, and there are good aspects for a newbie.
Some info are useful but nothing you can't find for free on the net, btw (important) the idea "behind" could work and it's legit.

But deeply, I don't find anything that could help for starting any automatic method to get money, also it's request some work to set the method, and you need to hope then it work in autonomy.

This is my opinion for your system, I have followed several sites/method in the past so I hope you appreciate my honest opinion.
Good luck with your guide.

Fair enough, but that was the old guide though, I have upgraded it now with more content. So it's way better now.

Interesting, have you had any chance to use the method? Could you talk about if it actually worked personally? I've been watching this thread for a while now, but it seems like this method either takes too much time or is not worth it based off how long people have taken to review it / their reviews.

I am using it and it works for me. People who read it are probably doing it right now, because it works. I have some referral links setup where the comissions are coming automatically from new referrals.

I am restoring the 20,000 satosi payout again for newbies as well. Now everyone gets 20,000 satoshi, and Legendary/Staff gets 40,000 satoshi.

Please do this task!  Smiley

Thanks for the payment! I'll be active on Steemit as soon as possible. Just got home and need some recovery time before I write anything. So glad I got in on this before newbies were excluded.  Grin

EDIT: Oh? Newbies are not excluded anymore? Cool. Disregard that part then.  Cheesy

Yes I have to adjust the settings based on the demand. It is true that a lot of newbies are duplicate accounts, but there are a lot of newbies here too who have a low rank and just want to make money, so why not give them a chance too.

So I raised the payment to 10k satoshi, it's worth it.

Waiting for monbux and RappelzReborn's review as well.

I have also sent the earlier version to Amadues, but seems like he totally forgot about it. It's true that it was the earlier version not the new one, but you can now see why I asked for green member reviews.

It seems like people just take the guide for free and then don't review it.  Undecided

So no more free vouches, the guide contains very useful information, and I am not giving it anyway anymore for free.
