still on pace for Jun 30 launch?

Will other coins besides ANC and BTC be supported?

We are in fact ahead of schedule. It looks like we may launch as much as a week early. All the features necessary to launch are complete. We are capable of launching a finished product right now but are doing more security related tests and adjusting the code for margin trading and short sales.  If you would like to view the demo site (hosted on low bandwith server). Demo accounts are funded with sample balances to experiment with our trading platform. The link is: http://fclgyds4otcwiwwlsqh6x3q6x54ws5qapythrtefg2ceyoa5vzsq.b32.i2p

We are planning on offering trading pairs for about 30 coins. Various privacy focused and higher volume coins.

We support optional GPG based 2 factor authentication and encrypted i2pbote email alerts for the most secure and private user experience possible. Its even possible to create GPG based passwordless/usernameless accounts.

Are you willing to tell us which 30 coins will be accepted at launch? Besides ANC can we assume that DASH and all the cryptonote coins will be included along with BTC and LTC of course?

We haven't decided yet. I will post the list when we make the ann thread a couple days before launch. But otherwise, like I say,  We pretty much going to accept the coins with the highest volume and those with privacy focus. No Cryptonote coins will be supported as they do not support tor or i2p connection. If they add anonymous connection capability at a later date we will add them.

Actually I think the cryptonote traders (along with ANC and DASH) might be some of your most loyal traders because they care the most about privacy. It is true that cryptonote coins like BBR do not yet have native I2P or TOR support, but neither do most of the "high volume" coins you refer to. Why would high volume coin traders use your I2P exchange unless they value privacy? If they do value privacy, it seems like coins such as ANC, DASH, XMR and BBR would be most attractive to them.

XMR (who plans to integrate I2P eventually by the way) and BBR can still be used with your exchange. They do not need native I2P integration to be able to send coins to/from an I2P exchange.  Anyone can cut/paste a destination address from your I2P exchange into the wallet of a coin without I2P support.  Until more coins (such as ANC) add I2P support this will be how it works for most coins

The issue with cryptonote coins is that the server must run a node anonymously. Bitcoin based altcoins can be run over tor, monero etc cannot. This increases the risk of demasking.

Currently CryptoCurrency Exchanges are under increasing regulatory pressure. This Exchange will provide trading services for those traders who don't with to be lawskeyd. Also we are are interested at some point in the future to provide a desktop client similar to MetaTrader that will have i2pd embedded so anyone can trade any coin easily and anonymously without ever having to put any effort into technical computer configurations.

Just to be clear: Anoncoin is not a dead coin. We have a new lead developer, GroundRod, who has brought the code up to bitcoin 0.10 standards, and who has added many new features, such as a innovative PID difficulty retargeting algorithm (see https://wiki.anoncoin.net/Development_schedule). You can download/build the the develop branch on github to see for yourself. We are currently testing the PID algorithm on internal testnets.

But to get back to your original comment: Meeh has not given up on Anoncoin, but even if he did, the project would live on without him.

Sorry, maybe I was a bit harsh and you are right.

Development branch hasn't been altered since February 2015.
We don't see GroundRod coding^^ or getting the code up to 0.1 standards

not blame - just saying
You are right in not trusting us. All I can say is that if you look at your Anoncoin peers, you will see about three that are running 0.9.6.1. We are holding back on pushing the post 0.9.4 code to github as some of our developments, including real block hashes and PID retargetting, could be easily copied.

Of course, it would be easy to make some clients with fake version numbers if we wanted to pump and dump.

As i have stated before I think we should push the current 9.6.1 code to a public development branch. More transparency would be refreshing,

Im against this. A lot of people still run the oldest working release! If we release this now, people will get it and stop bothering getting the finished new version.
We could let everyone know that it is unstable. There hasn't been a lot of activity on GitHub in several months so I can empathize with the frustration within the community. what If we released screenshots of the new wallet? I think this could go a long way towards alleviating some of the concerns about progress members of the community may have.

This looks great! Will multi sig be used or will the exchange have to be trusted by its users?
At this moment MutliSig is not implemented as it is not practical and really only good for buyer/seller/escrow type marketplaces. If a trader feels anxious about holding funds on the exchange the most secure option would be to hold them in a privately owned wallet on their computer and only deposit the minimum required for trading. One of the security features that is being implemented is call TimeVault. When a trader stores funds in a time vault the funds are sent to a secure cold storage wallet and the user received a Txid so they can monitor this cold wallet on the block chain themselves. All withdrawals from the TimeVault are delayed for ~ 7 days so if a hacked gained access to your account you would have 7 days to before they could steal your funds where you could freeze your account. Similarly funds in cold storage cannot be accessed if we get hacked.

Security is a priority and we have the following security measures among many others:

Database:
    Atomic Request based Transactions
    ACID complient
Wallets:
   Store the majority of customer funds in a cold storage wallet
   Double check withdrawal submissitions for overdrawing
Authenication:
   Passwords are stored as salted hashes
   Secure session based authentication
Input:
   Regex to sanitize input strings
   Limit post and get requests to minimize Denial of Service attacks and prevent cracking account passwords and other malacious activity.
   Protect against Cross-site request forgery using csfr tokens
Operating Environment:
   Hosted on Gentoo Hardened OS
   SELinux
   GRsecurity

the problem with riecoin merged mining and primecoin as well continues to be the low hash rate of those coins. merging with a chain with hashrate that low is less secure. although at some point in the future imo moving in this direction is not a bad idea, now with interest in anon-coin diminished it is not a good idea.

I remember reading that the devs were considering implementing the Primecoin hashing algo as one of the auxPoW hashing algo's in a myriad of chains.  Why not implement the Riecoin algo instead or as well of as one of the three chains minimum that are needed to run a myriad properly.

Quote
How is Riecoin different from Primecoin?

Primecoin uses the Fermat primality test, which has some flaws. Carmichael numbers are not prime and still pass Fermat's test for all bases, however those are relatively rare. Secondly, in general, if Fermat's test says a number is prime, it has at least a 50% probability of being prime. Primecoin uses only one Fermat test with base 2. While base 2 may provide more confidence than the general bound of 50%, still many composites will pass as primes. What's worst, is that Euler-Lagrange-Lifchitz test used for the other primes in the chain assumes the previous number in the chain is prime. So if the chain starts with a number that is not prime, then the Euler-Lagrange-Lifchitz test is not guaranteed to work, and all numbers in the chain may be composite.
Short version: Primecoin numbers are not guarranteed to be prime, they may be Fermat pseudoprimes to the base 2. There is an infinite list of Fermat pseudoprimes to the base 2 (oeis.org/A001567). Riecoin uses enough Rabin-Miller tests with random bases, so the probability of a number that is not prime being accepted by the majority of the Riecoin network is negligible.

We propose the n/s "range explored (numbers) per second" metric instead of pps (primes per second) or shorter-chains per second. This is the quantity of numbers tested (whether by sieve of explicit primality test) and discarded as not constituting a valid PoW per second. While it is still difficult to compare this number for different difficulties, it is a much better metric: it can be used to meaningfully compare different algorithms, hardware speed, etc as long as you have the same diff. More n/s always means more blocks. For example a mining rig would be advertised as having X n/s@minimum diff. Something similar like "multipliers per second" might be possible for Primecoin, but it wouldn't scale as well when difficulty grows. In Primecoin, PPS is "just for fun" and shorter chains per second may not be accurate to compare the performance of algorithms for full-length chains per second.

Assuming the Riemann Hypothesis and the Hardy-Littlewood k-tuple conjectures are true, by using Hardy-Littlewood constants a miner can estimate the average time before a block is found, allowing profit calculations and to estimate the computing power of the network.

In Primecoin there is no practical way of estimating the time before finding a block, moreover difficulty 10.1 is easier than 9.9 making it impossible to estimate how secure the network is.

A centralized checkpoint system is implemented inside Primecoin. While it is disabled by default, if FUD about attacks start to spread, I believe some people will panic and enable it. A centralized checkpoint allows its controllers to perform double spends without any need for any % of hash rate. Can we be sure it will not be hacked and/or abused?

Riecoin is capped to a fixed amount of coins (84M), but Primecoin has no limit. While it is arguable, we believe our deflationary model - similar to Bitcoin's - is better.

1min block speed would bloat the blockchain and create more orphans, stales. We have 2.5min which was tested for years in LTC. I don't know of any 1min coin that has years of testing. I think it's not true that 1min is fast enough for waiting in a line when you buy a coffee: with blocks targeted each minute, you have a 1 in 150 chance of having to wait more than 5 minutes for a block, this would still be unacceptable for some coffee stores. Also, with 2.5 each block requires more work, meaning we will have larger prime numbers sooner.

Contest for the best Anoncoin Qt wallet themes

The Anoncoin Qt wallet now has the capability to choose among several different themes that change the look and feel of the wallet. We have created three test themes to demonstrate how this works, and here we are announcing a contest for the best three community-contributed themes that we will bundle with our next release.

Given the history of anoncoin, we are specifically interested in the following three themes:

1. Anoncoin - A theme that is based on the retro minimal branding as found on our current web site.
2. Anonymous - A theme that exemplifies the ideals of the group Anonymous.
3. I2P - A theme that is based on the branding of the I2P network.

For each theme that we select, we will pay a bounty of 100 ANC (or more, if we receive more contributions to our donation address). Honorable mentions that are not selected will be posted for download on our web site.

In order to use themes, you will need to either compile the "develop-themes" branch on github, or download one of the developer builds from our web site (at this point, only OSX and win64 developer builds are available). Next, you will need to copy the themes folder (found in share/qt) to your Anoncoin data directory. To create your own theme, simply create a new folder in the themes folder, and create a style.qss file that is based on one of the examples. To select the theme, go to Preferences > Display, choose the theme from the drop down menu, and click OK.

If you would like to see more bounties likes this, please donate to the Anoncoin donation address.

Awesome news keep up the great work!! Smiley

I really want anc to succeed but I have multiple concerns at this point in time and it would be great if we could get an update from the devs (or anyone else that has any knowledge of what is going on).

1. K1773R is still blaming the transaction problem on cryptsy.  There have been bugs found in the anoncoin code and cryptsy is compiling from source.  Other exchanges and even desktop qt clients are having the same problem as cryptsy.  So this can't be a cryptsy problem.  I would really like if the devs would work on this problem seeing as a cryptocurrency with transaction problems is obviously really bad.  What are the devs doing to fix this? We need anoncoin back on exchanges asap.

2. Meeh has been working on myriad auxPoW for the past month but recently asked what myriad auxPoW is.  Since he can't develop something he doesn't know about what has he been doing? An update on the supposed "imminent" hardfork would be great.  The sooner this hardfork happens the sooner anoncoin can fix the difficulty issue.

3. Anoncoin code is still based on bitcoin 0.8.6 which is almost a year old at this point.  Why hasn't the anoncoin code been updated? Bitcoin is currently on 0.9.3 and there have 4 updates in between 0.8.6 and 0.9.3.  Why has anoncoin missed all 4 updates?  Gnosis recently posted that meeh was working on updating the code to 0.9.3 but that concerns me because meeh was also supposed to be working on myriad auxPoW but seems to not be doing too well with that either.

Please don't dismiss this post as a troll.  I'm not a troll but someone who cares about anoncoin.  Anyone who owns anoncoin should realize these three points are really troubling and they should want updates from the devs as well.  What are they doing about the three points above? These things really need to be addressed.  Blindly following the devs and saying "oh they got this" isn't enough.  What are they doing to solve this problem? If anyone knows please reply!

EDIT: This conversation with ian miers of zerocash is also troubling.  He doesn't seem to think our RSA UFO's are strong enough.  https://twitter.com/secparam/status/449576116161089537

Cryptsy CHAT (right now)

user  A --> @NetworkAdmin:@Mullick:
i know that you guys have your hand full already but are there any ETA for the Anon wallet being back online?

NetworkAdmin --> user A
I am under the understanding that it is an issue the developers are working to resolve? I don't track the status though.

user A --> @NetworkAdmin:
Ok just wondering because the coin can stll be mined

user B --> @NetworkAdmin @user A:
cex.io and BTC38 work fine with ANC. It's a CRYPTSY problem. No Blockchain problem. No anc Devs problem

Mullick --> user B:
It is an NC problem admitted by the developers themselves. BTC#* admitted up to 2 day delays on anc withdrawals. Its an ANC problem NOT a Cryptsy problem

Mullick --> user B:
Out of the 238 daemons i manage. Only ANC has this issue

user B --> @Mullick:
you can go BTC38 and withraw by yourself. So this way may be you can trustme

is this on freenode?
