Well, can't say I disagree with what you guys say..

Would anyone object if I raise the minimum spend to 0.10 btc and decrease the timer to 1 hour (or maybe 2-3 hours)?

That would:
1. Help push out the invested btc faster.
2. Increase the jackpot.
3. Make it fun again.

I think this would make it fair for those already in, since with a long timer and small spends allowed they're not getting bursted very quickly anyways.

Also, I added the requested feature to view bursted bubbles.
1503  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: MtGox order discrepancy? A trade at $1.60 when $1.63 is already on the book on: April 24, 2011, 01:06:15 AM
I bought those with "dark pool only"... somebody was selling at 1.6 there. I assume that even if I picked "dark pool and normal" my order would still fulfill at 1.6

What about JanusVM?

You setup JanusVM on 1 computer and create user accounts on it. Then you can create an VPN connection to JanusVM from all your computers. This will ensure that your traffic is routed through tor. Can be used for anything, not just websurfing. Personally I have setup a virtual machine which is running a VPN client to connect to JanusVM. Works great!

Quote
JanusVM is powered by VMware, built on the Linux 2.6.14 kernel, and brings together openVPN, Squid, Privoxy, and Tor, to give you a transparent layer of security and privacy that is compatible with all your TCP based applications. DNS request are also passed through Tor so even your ISP doesn't know what web site you are looking at. All your web traffic is passed through squid and privoxy to filter out unwanted internet junk & prevents your web browser from leaking information about your computer system. One of the core components that make this possible is an awesome piece of software called Tor. Tor is what allows you to re-route your traffic around the internet anonymously. A more detailed explanation of this can be found here.

Features:
* Works with WiFi.
* Support multiple users in a LAN.
* Protects you from most man-in-the-middle attacks.
* Protects you from Javascript, Java, and Flash based side-channel privacy attacks.
* Protects your identity and your true location by masking your IP Address.
* Encrypts and re-routes your DNS request and ALL TCP traffic to ensure strong privacy.
* Strips out most privacy sensitive information your web browser may leak.
* Blocks popups, annoying ads, banners, and other obnoxious Internet junk.
* Very simple setup and operation.
* Works transparently for applications using TCP. (No UDP or ICMP support)

It seems like you bought 10 bubble at 0.05 each, they have all bursted and a payment of 0.75 btc was sent to your bitcoin address..

1506  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Bitcoin Bubble Game (with jackpot) on: April 22, 2011, 11:10:29 AM
Yes, there is a way to see complete history, it's all stored in the database. I just need to make a script that does that (will do).

As for payments, I just checked the payment log and every single payment has been successfully sent out so far... Maybe you could provide some additional info, what did the advertisement say, which receive address did you enter?
1507  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Bitcoin Bubble Game (with jackpot) on: April 21, 2011, 06:55:45 PM
In the FAQ, you outline when the timer for the jackpot changes, but you start off with "100 BTC". Do you mean to say "100 BTC and lower", or is there no change between "0 BTC - 200 BTC"?

How many days on average do you expect each game to take?
There is no change between 0 BTC - 100 BTC, as soon as we reach 100 BTC it will be changed. That said I will be making some changes next round (not this round, to be fair with whoever invested I do not change the rules in a round).

The changes will be that the timer will decrease possibly on a daily basis and cost of participating will be adjusted up so that it will be more costly to do "jackpot hunting". That will help push people out and reduce the odds slightly. Right now it cost you 0.01 btc to try and win 33 bitcoins. That won't keep the game going fast enough.

As for how long this round will last I have no idea, but on avarage with the new rules implemented I imagine maybe 3-4 days on avarage.

How about rotating banners from advertisers at the top of the site? The more bubbles you buy, the better your odds that someone will see your banner.
Great idea, I have added rotating ads weighted on spent amount. The more you have spent in the bubble, the more likely your advertisement will appear. If you have not entered url and/or banner we will display a default advertisement (operation fabulous).

A guy was facing 20 years in prison for a video of so called "CP". The girl in the video took a flight all the way to the court and proved her age. It was claimed this girl could be no more than "12", turns out she was 20, and 18 at the date the "CP" was made.

I changed the class from "advertisement" to something else, please let me know if AdBlock still blocks it.

you may want to think about shortening the time until jackpot (it's currently 10 hours, but I haven't seen it go lower than 9 hours, 56 minutes.)
Maybe, I was thinking about it too, but the game seems to have calmed down now and the jackpot is currently under 6 hours.

Anyways was amazing how fast it moved yesterday, jackpot even tripled to 27 btc! Great fun Smiley

No, nothing will be added to the bubble before payment has been received. Once payment is received your advertisement will instantly be added to the bubble with no waiting. What is considered received depends on mybitcoins definition. It seems that they approves payments instantly without confirmation even for bitcoin (at least small amounts). Smiley

Weird, I saw it, in fact I even played a round of dart using your link Tongue Maybe it could be a browser error? Please let me know if this continues.
1513  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Bitcoin Bubble Game (with jackpot) on: April 19, 2011, 11:00:06 PM
Very neat! I like the twist on the lottery from other existing systems.

EDIT: The advertisement functionality appears not to work. I tried to use my Bitcoin Darts affiliate address and the title "Bitcoin Darts". My ID is "QrwGD" and there is no advertisement.
Hi, glad you like it!

It's not broken, it's just that you have been bursted. Check your mybitcoin/bitcoin wallet, you should have received your money back with profit Smiley

Just to make it clear: When your advertisement is bursted out you will receive 150% of your purchase money back. In your case, 0.04 btc * 150% = 0.06 . At this point your advertisement will also be removed since it is now bursted. In the future I will probably add the possibility to view bursted ads as well.
1514  Economy / Marketplace / Bitcoin Bubble Game (with jackpot) on: April 19, 2011, 06:32:50 PM
Hello,

BTCBubble is the very first bubble game launched for bitcoin.

I added 9 btc to the jackpot to kickstart it off. Everything is instant.

How does a bubble game work?
Simple, you buy any number of bubbles, then you wait. Eventually when people buy after you they will push your bubbles out and you will receive back what you paid per bubble + 50%. If you are the last person who has bought bubbles when timer reaches zero you will win the jackpot. This encourage spending (the jackpot timer will reset on each spend).

If you like it, you may add a banner to your signature (and even include your own referral link).

Timer is set to 10 hours. Profit 150%.

Learn more by reading the faq.

Have fun Smiley

EDIT july 2011:
We're closed due to trouble with mybitcoin.com, everyone has been refunded and payments has been sent. Will we open again? Maybe, but I would need to recreate the payment system to use bitcoin client in addition to mybitcoin since mybitcoin is not stable enough. At the moment I have decided to prioritize other projects.

Thank you all for participating!

1517  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Generated More Than 50 Coins in One Block? on: March 19, 2011, 11:54:55 AM
It's 50 BTC, but if people has entered a fee (to speed up confirmation) this amount will be added to the block. In other words, you got 0.04 BTC worth of fees.

1519  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Wallet.dat balance at zero? on: March 18, 2011, 02:33:02 PM
Balance will appear once you have downloaded enough blocks.

It says 26000 blocks, looking at blockexplorer you will see that this block appeared on 27. October 2009. This means that you will only be able to see payments in this block and previous. Since you made payments in 2011 you have to wait until you have downloaded enough blocks (a little less than 104000 blocks) to reach the date of your payment. Once blocks has been downloaded it will automatically appear in your balance.

You can speed up block downloads by opening port 8333.
1520  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why Do You Use Bitcoin? on: March 14, 2011, 11:20:40 PM
I voted other. The reason is quite simple, it's the best payment processor that exist at this time. I can run any kind of business without the risk of being shut down by my payment processor (or government), this is very important. Secondly there is privacy and anonymity. But it's still early to run any significant business with bitcoin in it's entirety, so at the current time I'm in as speculator and early adopter.
