When an account is locked "for security", the message says the user is banned: This is confusing and makes the user think he's banned (which means using another account would be ban evasion), which isn't the case. Suggested solution: omit the "you are banned" and write only this: Sorry Guest, for security, your account has been locked. Email xx

I wonder why you make contributions even on this thread ![Cheesy](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/cheesy.gif) Any bump in this thread triggers a full refresh of all Trust score images. That takes a while and requires unnecessary scraping. This is faster ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) Simply because he is a nice guy AI. Cause an AI would never trick you, right? ![Cheesy](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/cheesy.gif)

I'm just wondering why so many reported posts continue to remain "unhandled"?? From my own experience: reports in Meta often remain unhandled. Clear spam is quickly removed. And once in a while a report is marked bad, I think my last bad report was a post that I thought was off-topic in Services. You'll need to have 300+ good reports to see the result of your reports in the last 30 days.

Right on time, thanks again Let's see who's the first to derail this thread now .....

*Working on it Okay, I've added a feature: I now create a Trust score image for every user who posts in this topic. This only takes a few seconds. If there's an image for your userID already, it gets updated. I also add your userID to my list, so your Trust score image gets daily updates. In short, use this: [url=https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5200499.0][img alt=Trust score loading...]http://loyce.club/trust/images/459836.gif[/img][/url] But replace my userID with your own. Post in this topic and refresh after a few seconds to load the image. Sample: ![Trust score loading...](https://ip.bitcointalk.org/?u=http%3A%2F%2Floyce.club%2Ftrust%2Fimages%2F459836.gif&t=663&c=EvNGC7lVSnsV4A)

Thus, it might seem a bad idea to allow unenforceable amounts We have the same in euros: most shops reject 1 and 2 cent coins, and yet most prices end on 9 cents. Entire cents, currently worty far more than 100 satoshi, are lost due to rounding. And nobody cares ![Cheesy](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/cheesy.gif) Why would anyone care about possibly losing a fraction of a satoshi due to rounding?

The snitch badge turned out to be " a can of worms". I made it to 5000+ a while ago, but now I'm no longer reporting hundreds of posts per month. As long as I stay away from the altcoin boards, spam isn't that bad.

However, I just noticed that the Investigations board is somehow open also for Jr. Members and Newbies. I recently tested it, but my Newbie account couldn't read Investigations. Even being whitelisted didn't help. For example, look at these two topics which appear on first oage of topics under the Investigations board: It could have been moved by a Mod, because doxing isn't allowed on other boards. I think it should be stated in the board description that it is available only for Members and up, similar to the description of Ivory Tower board, which appears just below the name "Ivory Tower". Ivory Tower can be read by Newbies. Investigations can't be seen, so there's no need to show a description either.

Programatically, to get around this, you could probably check to confirm if the character after the specific username is a space or some form of punctuation. If it's another letter, I'm not sure if it's worth including this in the notification. Thanks! Although it was on my mental list, it wasn't on my Todo yet. I've added it, especially for short usernames this is a problem. I need a rainy afternoon to improve many things here, starting with the performance which is the reason I do less frequent updates now (only twice an hour). So much to do, so little time ![](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/afro.gif)

Like it or not, people are more inclined to use a platform if it has a mobile app for convenience reasons For security reasons on the other hand, I don't like installing mobile apps. Even though I only store a small amount of Bitcoin in my mobile wallet, I keep my phone as clean as possible. Before online banking, you needed to download a program on your PC to dial in to the bank. I never used those, and they were all replaced by online banking through the bank's website. But for mobile devices, many companies are moving back to having customers download and install software again. Needless to say, I don't use those either. Quoting is fucking unbearable. It can take nearly an age to trim a quote and I usually hit the wrong button somewhere and have to start again. Quoting is terrible indeed, one of the reasons my mobile posts are much shorter than my desktop posts.

Hi, silly question I'm sure - Is this thread meant to be in the archive section? Yes ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) I sometimes use Archival to dump some data without polluting another board.

Say the last mined block is Block no. 628,000. Are the miners: 1. Trying to solve automatically and specifically the following "mathematical problem" aka no. 628,001 or 2. Trying to simply solve a random one and whoever finds a solution counts as block no. 628,001? It's more or less #2: whoever finds the solution creates block 628,001. I thought for a minute about the idea of having a fixed block time of exactly 10 minutes which I suppose is achievable through coding and I was wondering: is there any advantage in having a precise 10min. block time? You could do that, in a centralized database. With Proof of Work, the next block is found at a random time. If all miners would find a block after exactly 10 minutes, who gets the block reward? But would there be an advantage in having a precise block time or would it actually make things worse? It wouldn't be Bitcoin ![Wink](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/wink.gif)

I had the same problem at the beginning but you eventually get used to it. In landscape-mode, I only have to zoom a bit on my phone. On a tablet it works fine, so just get a bigger phone ![Tongue](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/tongue.gif)

If Alice spends her balance down to a small number of sats, she could delay the closing of the channel even though she is basically owed nothing. If that's the reason not to use the entire channel balance, you can just keep a higher channel reserve. I've had my Eclair channels in such a state: emptying them as far as possible when fees were low meant there was nothing to gain (for me) anymore by closing the channel. That gave me inbound capacity without having "invested" much.

Can someone explain what description "archived" under username on BPIP means? Hover your mouse above it at the top of BPIP: Inactive profiles that have no posts and no trust OR profiles that have been banned or nuked by the staff.

We will just have to add our user ID to the keyword we want to track. right ? Correct. I've postponed improving this for a while though. Been on many forums with mention system in place and I never encountered a user who tried to mention someone via profile link or uid. When I post a link to a profile, I usually add the username to the url-tag indeed.

I could be wrong but I think that's only valid for the posts that have both latin and arabic/hebrew alphabets. Maybe. I currently have a few months of scraping to go, after that I'll re-scrape those boards and replace all posts in my archive by the freshly scraped ones. I still have to figure out what exactly I have to change for this. A suggestion... Have you thought about making a browser extension? I think it would be nice if we could access the archived posts directly from the forum's posts instead of having to manually check every post. I'll take your suggestion to [BETA] BPIP Extension - user info add-on / extension for Firefox, Chrome, et al. I'm not making any browser extensions myself.

Can I translate your article and reprint it? Sure, as long as you provide credits to the original post, that's fine with me. Out of curiosity: where do you plan to "reprint" it, and in which language?
