1521  Economy / Economics / Re: bitcoin transactions costs in the future on: May 25, 2019, 02:50:23 PM
The logic is, what if all the miners are already using renewable energy and solar panel for their farms?

Isn't it free energy for all of them and the cost of mining would also be free? IMO, there's no need for any return from miners fee back to the sender because it's the fee for confirming our transactions.

Free is free when a farm doesn't have land that it's renting or paid millions for in advance, and doesn't have any other operational cost. This is more of a fairytale.

People wrongly assume that pools represent one single entity, which isn't the case at all. Pools have thousands of larger/smaller miners pointing their hashrate to them, which means that the hashrate distribution in reality is more distrubited than the pie chart shows you. How on earth do you expect all these individual miners to enjoy 'free' electricity?
1522  Economy / Speculation / Re: Btc fork crack smokers on: May 25, 2019, 02:16:09 PM
That's because of Bitpay.....any invoice can be paid with BTC or BCH. Bitpay were in the big block camp and when the BCH guys hard forked in 2017, they added BCH support fairly quickly, probably hoping it would facilitate adoption.
Not by default anymore. Merchants now have the option to select whatever coin they want to accept. BitPay pushed BCH in your face initially, but later made it an optional feature. I guess that Roger was too demanding there. Merchants accepting Bitcoin don't want to accept something else alongside it, which may lead to bad marketing.

If not for Bitpay, I doubt there would be much merchant acceptance at all. For BSV, it's obviously even worse. I really have no idea how the forkers convince themselves to stay the course. Their coins are on a long, slow bleed towards zero.
As long as Roger and Jihan are willing to devote their BTC mining earnings to financially support BCH, BCH will remain up and running in the top 10.

BCash has actually very little organic transaction activity. It's way less so than Litecoin with orders of magnitude less merchant adoption. They artificially inflate the transaction numbers, and artificially inflade the on-chain value volume by moving insane amounts of BCH back and forth. How pathetic.
1523  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin is very likely going to break $9000 in the next few days. on: May 25, 2019, 02:04:46 PM
Let's not forget what happened few days ago, it is obvious that some big players want to price stay under $10k as long as possible, which is quite understandable with regard to expectations that could happen before and especially after halving.

I'm not so sure of that. People continue saying that whales want the price to remain below x level, but none of them can explain how whales are manipulating the price. I don't see an indication of manipulation at all, just organic buying and selling, where in some cases large accounts buy or unload regardless of the slippage they subject themselves to.

If there was some sort of a keep Bitcoin below x level manipulation, they have had enough time to stock up on Bitcoin below the $4000 level. Another thing is that if whales manage to keep the price below x level, that means there isn't enough organic demand to push it up, therefore shouldn't and can't go higher.
1524  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Chinese citizens could safely hold Bitcoin on: May 25, 2019, 11:25:52 AM
i really dont understand China politics about cryptocurrency.half of news are positive, half of negative.they cant know what to do or news are mostly lie, im not sure.

China has always been an unstable factor, plus we shouldn't discard how news outlets do a poor job translating articles (which is a big deal considering that context is one of the most important aspects), and in some cases they purposely twist words to make an article look overly negative or positive.

Chinese Bitcoiners have always had enough alternatives to continue buying and selling coins, which just shows that whatever the sanctions were against Bitcoin, they weren't effective at all.
1525  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2019-05-23] 'BTC Is Not Bitcoin’ Says Craig Wright on: May 25, 2019, 10:51:16 AM
He do shameful things to himself and im pretty sure that he's totally aware with that.

He surely is aware of it. Craig's only way to remain relevant is to pretend to be satoshi and to trash Bitcoin. If he didn't do any of that, no one would pay attention to what he is doing.

The same applies to Roger Ver. 9/10 tweets are related to Bitcoin. He doesn't focus on altcoins at all even though they are his actual competitors. All he is doing is hardcore shill it and pump money into his BCash shitcoin to keep the 5% peg to Bitcoin.

You would expect that blockchain and crypto events stop inviting these con artists, but nope, they pop up almost on every one of them.
1526  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2019-05-23] AT&T Teams With BitPay to Accept Bill Payments in Crypto on: May 25, 2019, 10:33:16 AM
Most wallets still don't support BIP70?! I guess I wouldn't know. I've been using Electrum as my everyday wallet for years now and never missed a beat when Bitpay implemented BIP70.
I have to use Electrum's desktop client to pay for goods through BitPay, which sucks. There are a bunch mobile wallet clients that do support it, but then you have to use wallets from big blockers that intentionally recommend you a much higher fee than necessary. The bitcoin dot com wallet has been doing this for a while now.

That does piss me off. They charge everyone an additional fee ~ equal to the cost of sweeping the output in the next block, but they never sweep anything immediately. I think they're making money off the "network fee" -- and of course, giving small blockers the middle finger.
For sure. They tend to wait for the network congestion to lessen and then utilize less than half of what people paid to move the funds.

Too bad there is not a competent enough competitor in the states to knock BitPay off its throne.  Undecided

1527  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: How do you set up your own cryptocurrency exchange? on: May 25, 2019, 08:55:09 AM
Is that your website? Why it looks like is not secure for people? I am afraid to visit your link as above me give a screenshot about your site. I hope you can explain to us why the site looks suspicious to visit. And if you have a problem, I think you need to fix the problem before you give the site in here.

It's just a throwaway site, just like his account is. He doesn't care one bit.

OP is hoping for a noob to buy his software/script totally not understanding whether or not there is a backdoor that allows OP do whatever he pleases.

The fact that OP isn't running an exchange himself instead of selling software/scripts, just shows how unprofitabe and dangerous it is.
1528  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: How do you feel about businesses that stop accepting Bitcoin? on: May 25, 2019, 08:31:17 AM
They're better off accepting Lightning payments and skip BitPay entirely.

If you ask like $0.10-$0.50 in processing fees just because of the on-chain fees (which goes on top of the on-chain fees people have to pay for their own transaction), which BitPay does, that's not a good payment alternative at all, and I'm sure that there behind the scenes are a few other things they charge the merchant for aside from the default 1% fee.

I'm frequently using Bitrefill and I absolutely love their Lightning integration. If merchants start adopting this, they are less likely to drop Bitcoin as payment option.
1529  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Buy btc with cash on: May 24, 2019, 10:30:59 AM
I don't see news or articles about people being robbed in Bitcoin transactions very often, but that risk is always present.
Last year there was a flood wave of news articles about people who got robbed off their coins or cash. I'm sure that most cases don't even make it to the news because the amounts concerned are too small. Don't forget, the higher the price is, the more incentive criminals have to chase after local buyers and sellers of coins. Risk increases day by day.

I think 1 confirmation is enough to say that your Bitcoin is coming to your wallet, there will be no cancellation since it's already approved and put to the chain. You just need to wait miners to confirm your transactions and then your will received it on your wallet.
Stale blocks are somewhat of a risk though, so there is no absoluteness when your transaction has only 1 confirmation. If the transaction value is on the lower side, there isn't much to worry about, but when you're dealing with large value transfers, definitely make sure to pocket that second confirmation before you walk away.
1530  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2019-05-23] 'BTC Is Not Bitcoin’ Says Craig Wright on: May 24, 2019, 09:46:08 AM
And now the show has to go on...welcome to the world of Craig Wright where the truth can be twisted and realities turned into nightmares. Okay, I am just being carried away by the continuing "assault" of Craig Wright against the cryptocurrency community. I am suggesting that the whole community now declare Craig Wright as the official Joker and Comedian.

Truth can't be twisted when it comes to him providing the evidence of being Satoshi by simply signing from the address containing the genesis block reward.

I must admit though, this con artist is a champion in generating publicity. Who would have thought that a simple copyright registration (that you and me at home can easily replicate) would cause that much hype. It even doubled the value of BSV, now that's a successful PR stunt, lol.
1531  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2019-05-23] AT&T Teams With BitPay to Accept Bill Payments in Crypto on: May 24, 2019, 09:16:55 AM
Nice news. Hopefully, more people will use crypto to pay for AT&T bills. That's what called adoption.

It would be a waste if there's no one who uses this feature.

Good news till you try to use BitPay's payment form that isn't supported by most wallet clients. If you find a wallet client that does support their payment form, there is no Segwit. One big mess. It's just retarded. Instead of making it easy to pay with Bitcoin, they made it harder. And then they also charge you an additional 'transaction processing fee'.

In order to tempt people to use Bitcoin over fiat, it has to offer more convenience and not lead to unnecessary hassle.

Someone on Reddit suggested that you can top up your ATT account through Bitrefill, which accepts both main-chain payments and Lightning payments. Not sure how it works since I'm in Europe, but if it offers the same functionality, definitely use this instead of BitPay.
1532  Economy / Exchanges / Re: HitBTC only has around $3m in BTC and ETH wallets on: May 24, 2019, 08:01:50 AM
It's very odd actually that Hitbtc has just about 240BTC in its reserves, which can't be right unless they lost or stole the rest. I'm sure they easily hold over 1000BTC, but have done some back and forth moving (mixing) to (for whatever reason) obtain a bit more privacy. Hitbtc is a shady exchange after all, so that wouldn't surprise me at all.

What does shock me are the insane withdrawal fees. XRP for example is pure madness. +6XRP for a simple withdrawal reeks of greed. They can be sure that the XRP army that largely consists of noobs won't be using that exchange. Cheesy
1533  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Worst Online Crypto Wallet Ever! [Poll] on: May 24, 2019, 07:42:54 AM
I don't think blockchain.info is that shitty.
It's an important wallet for adoption, as it is easy to use and newbie friendly.

Blockchain.com is actually shitty. It might be an initial landing site for newbies, but they due to there not being Segwit, have to pay much higher fees. Newbies will of course not understand that they haven't upgraded to Segwit, but they will be confronted with much higher fees, and they will feel that in their wallet for sure. Not what I consider user friendly.

They publicly stated that Segwit support would happen in Q1 of 2018, but where are we now? It's safe to say that these bastards won't upgrade at all. Thank Roger and Jihan for that.
1534  Economy / Speculation / Re: Find out the dangerous zone and the best point to buy BTC. on: May 23, 2019, 01:08:45 PM
First of all everyone should know that you can create charts that predict any movement at any time at all, give me a tradingview blank chart and I can show you 3 different scenarios of bitcoin going down, bitcoin going up and bitcoin staying the same. So, charts literally mean nothing.

If charts meant nothing people wouldn't be able to trade this market. Traders just go with the most likely scenario, and if you follow the trend, you'll end up doing well.

In some cases there isn't much that you can do if the demand is so strong that it ignores resistance levels as if they don't exist, but these cases are exceptions rather than frequent occurrences.

I think people's problem with TA comes from how news outlets and so called experts have turned it into a meme due to how often they end up being wrong. Based on that I don't blame people for thinking TA sucks, but doing your own research and actually learning TA yourself would quickly expose their silly predictions. ~95% of everything you read related to TA is noise. Finding the other ~5% of useful TA is quite a task if you don't know what to look for.
1535  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Worst Online Crypto Wallet Ever! [Poll] on: May 23, 2019, 12:32:48 PM
Coinbase should be tagged as exchange although newbie use it as wallet.

True, but they also have a Coinbase wallet product that is a bit different. Coinbase wallet allows you to store the private keys on the device you're using, which means that Coinbase in no shape or form has any access to your funds. This wallet is free to download and use without a Coinbase.com account, which is a good thing.

I gave it a try once and it really looks like they paid more attention to how they market shitcoins and tokens than to actually offer people a solid user experience.

The list OP provided consists of the most shitty services already. Definitely wouldn't recommend people to use any of them.
1536  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Binance Withdrawals and deposits on: May 23, 2019, 10:04:07 AM
In fact, you can just navigate to the coins you want to deposit/withdraw (assuming you already have an account), and if everything is working fine, you can proceed, where if deposits/withdrawals are suspended you'll get a pop up telling you that. Would have saved you a lot of time instead of waiting for a reply from people. Smiley

As stated in their article that withdrawal is already working as of now.
Don't pay attention to articles too much. Actually verifying if an exchange has problems or not is the right way to approach this.
1537  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2019-05-22]May to Become Strongest Month for CME’s Bitcoin Futures Trading: Rep on: May 23, 2019, 09:34:16 AM
this report volume traded by CME is have big help for the bitcoin become stable in the coin market cap.

Not sure if it's actually a big help as you put it. The increase in cash settled contracts eats up a lot of the spot demand, which isn't something we can discard when CME frequently trades over 100,000BTC a day. I hope that Fidelity and Bakkt will be able to push it back a bit, but CME's influence on the market is a bit worrying.

At first no one gave a shit about them due to how low the volumes were, but when you're easily surpassing Coinbase, Bitstamp and Kraken combined in trading volume, you have a say in this market.

Gold's market has been trashed by cash settled products, and in the long run I expect the same to happen to Bitcoin's market, especially with how there aren't enough coins available. The CME CEO even said that one of Bitcoin's biggest 'obstacles' is the lack of available supply. Obstacle for them is a good thing for people holding the actual asset.  Grin
1538  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2019-05-22] Dutch Authorities Shut Down Bestmixer on: May 23, 2019, 09:01:53 AM
Coinjoin type of features will eventually completely replace centralized mixers, and I think that's a good thing for all involved parties chasing the highest obtainable degree of privacy. I'm not sure how long it will take, especially with how this will bump the main-chain fees further, but it's only a matter of time in the end.

Samourai mobile wallet will implement it too in the not so distant future, definitely looking forward to that. Having these features within our clients is a big deal.
1539  Economy / Speculation / Re: Are We Going Back to $7,000? on: May 22, 2019, 02:44:34 PM
7,000 or lower? I wouldn't even rule out 5,000 to be honest. We're talking short term here, and that to me means till the rest of the year to wait out. We saw a huge pullback happen already for 20% losses and it could be a very different story if we didn't see this remarkable recovery to just below 8,000.

Another 20% slide from that 7k would have seen us at 5400... And then you know how people panic when they see their stash lose that much that quickly. Emotion is a funny thing in this market.

I like that. It seems that people have gotten more bearish in the short term, which might be resolved in a powerful green candle to the $8500 resistance.

People (moon boys mainly) were full of confidence on the way up, kept drinking hopium after it topped out, and now the price has been moving side ways longer than they expected, hopium lost its effect and as result fear starts to creep in. You got to love how volatile people's mindsets are. It's more volatile than the price of Bitcoin itself.  Cheesy

I'm prepared for both up and down movements, so I can sit back and enjoy how the short term price action will play out.
1540  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: sick of high fees Ive moved over to alts on: May 22, 2019, 02:02:08 PM
I used to be in the bitcoin core crowd but after still paying ridiculous fees recently Ive moved over to bch and SV, I Guess this is kind of a rant
I can see that you're just a troll boy. Why would you choose both BCH and BSV? Someone really interested in shifting would choose one.

I dont understand who the hell wants to pay high fees to send money to someone.
I don't understand why anyone would use a network (BSV) that got re-orged a couple of times recently, or a network (BCH) where BTC.TOP mining pool obtained 55% of the hashrate a couple of days ago. On top of that, Calvin is trolling BCH's network by mining empty or near empty blocks. Now that's cool.  Roll Eyes
