15261  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain New Miner S7-LN 2.7T @697W discussion (Not official) on: May 18, 2016, 11:00:40 PM
I think this is a much better idea for ending the life of a chip than the S5+.  The S5+ was targeted at the same buyers who would have purchased the S7 two weeks later.  This S7-LN is targeted at smaller budget miners who most likely won't be purchasing the S9 anyway.  It is a very large step forward from the S5+ disaster and I'm glad to see it.  Having learned my lesson already though, I will wait for the S9 this time around.

I engraved the first gold coin today (as well as all other ordered coins with the exception of the 2oz silver w/ gold highlights).  These gold coins have a smaller lip than their silver counterparts.  This leaves a larger area to engrave the public key and also a deeper indention for the hologram.  The end result is a more spacious and clean looking coin.  Smiley

Planning to have the same size lip for future coins?  The result seems better (in my opinion of course)

The only coin that has the wider lip is the original 1oz silver coin.  That is because a different mint was used.  Future coins will continue using the new lip size.

EDIT: I have finished engraving all of the coins.  Shipping will begin immediately.  I have already contacted a few buyers to confirm their shipping address.

I never liked vanity addresses anyway.

Vanity addresses are awesome.  They have only 1 catch.  You can't give anyone else your private key...  Using these websites instead of your own GPU is begging to have your funds stolen.

I'd like to think an investment from the DAO would be incredibly beneficial for my organization and we have paid out BTC on a weekly basis for nearly 4 years now...  It remains to be seen who is in control of the voting rights and which projects they deem worthy.

I have everything needed to get these bad boys engraved and shipped out.  Let me procrastinate for a day or two before assembling them all, but it seems very possible that these will begin shipping on Friday!

Does Eligius have a public NMC address or is there any way to see any info on the NMC being mined?

Not really a new idea.  Bittit has been around for ~4 years doing this.  Cool though.

15270  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: AntMiner S9 rampant speculation thread, have to be quick though on: May 16, 2016, 05:49:03 AM
I wonder if the S9 was going to use ASICBOOST and if they would let people know that technology is included.  It could be important for manufacturers to let us know in order to guide the decision of which miner to buy next.

Respectfully, I must disagree. There are really only 4 items that matter in terms of purchasing an ASIC based miner, and neither geometry size (aka nm) or AsicBoost matter at all. The items I see are:

1) What does it cost?
2) What is the hash rate?
3) What is the power consumption in Watts?
4) When can it be delivered?

I guess I would also have add are there any special cooling (does it need to be -100C), or electrical supply requirements (i.e. does it need 400Hz 37 VAC as a crazy example).

The internals of how they did it don't matter one whit to me.

Just my opinion, which I expect is fairly common.

But the potential threat of a fork would matter...

S9 is unlikely to have it though unless I misunderstand the timing of hardware development and when this ASICBOOST was invented.

I agree it is unlikely to have it.  I would like to start the conversation and start getting manufacturers to make this information known though.  Anyone who isn't paying attention to the ASICBOOST saga and doesn't think it is important could wind up being parted with their money in short order...

Og do you have a few links on ASICBoost

These seem relevant.

15273  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Solar array starting to look good. on: May 14, 2016, 05:37:44 PM
solar panel are not that good in the end if you end up with only 25% of the power because of the sun limitation, there must be another form of better energy like some forms of kinetic energy(not wind)
The only sources of clean energy that I am aware of are solar, wind and hydro. All have their limitations, while someone in my area that live on the water and had a constant flow of hydro past their property could generate a significant amount of energy, if they were to own hydro generators that were designed to sit on the bottom of an waterway and generate energy when the tide was coming in or going out.

I am jealous of those who have streams on their property.  A couple old car alternators and an inverter and you're good to go...
15274  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: MINING WITH FREE ELECTRICITY!! on: May 13, 2016, 11:15:55 PM
So i dont pay for the electricity not a single penny. In order to profit from this thing i have bought an antminer U3 and mined with it but it becamed unprofitably.

How did "it becamed unprofitably" when you "dont pay for the electricity not a single penny"  Huh

Looks filthy, as they did in my dreams. Cant wait to get a picture with that piece. A sincere thank you OGN!

I'm always nervous until I see the engraved public key in between the lines and a nice straight bubble free hologram.

Honestly I appreciate all of the support from you guys. I really didn't think this was going to go very well when I posted.
I thought it would end up being a bash Cassie troll fest, but I was wrong. Even if I don't get the account back I'm starting to feel better about the community I once loved. I really haven't been all that active because of the shady shit that goes down and its really gotten hard to be able to vet and gauge good and bad around here..

Don't lose faith.  At some point the community will band together and ostracize these account buyers/sellers that are a cancer to bitcointalk.

Very pretty.  Sad I didn't have funds to buy one when they were offered.

Thanks.  Don't worry, I will produce more unaffordable products.   Wink
