15341  Other / Meta / Re: Green hover color for bitcointalk.org links on: April 27, 2016, 08:17:21 PM
The more I've started seeing this feature in use, the more I'm wondering if it is backwards...

This appears to be a warning system, correct?  I feel like it is warning you that the link you are clicking is good.  Maybe a better idea would be making the non bitcointalk.org links red?  This way when someone is heading off site they are warned, instead of it appearing normal.  It would also be a reminder to open a new tab, instead of leaving bitcointalk when I click a link.  Smiley

Since the purpose was to highlight when a link to bitcointalk.org s safe, instead of making all non-bitcointalk.org links red, they could even try to guess which links are attempting to phish bitcointalk.org....
For example, any link with bitcointalk in its text which does not direct to bitcointalk.org would have red hover text maybe.

I understand that.  However, is that any better than looking at the mouseover url at the bottom of your browser or looking for a secure logo in your browser when you click through?  If you know what to check for, the feature really isn't there to protect you.  Since this is a non-standard feature, most users will not be looking for green highlighted text when clicking a link.  However, a link lighting up red would let them know there's something suspicious going on, which now that external links aren't popping up in new windows, could be the only warning a user gets.
15342  Other / New forum software / Re: Banning look-alike characters in usernames on: April 27, 2016, 08:11:24 PM
I waste so much time simply having to respond to people that I am not users that pretend to be me...

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=831944

Seems like something could be done.  Perhaps the fee to start a new account through TOR or the banning of IPs needs to be a bit more aggressive.

But a special forum might inspire some quality discourse for others to learn something from.

That or it may inspire spammers to step up their game to get to the Legendary board faster.

I actually like the idea.  There are so many pathetic scam attempt threads and account sales threads around here, it is surely discouraging intelligent conversation as valuable users stop wanting to sift through a haystack looking for the needle.

Any news?
Is my order shipped or I have to wait a bit more?

Thanks

Everything is still waiting on the 1nastyau address generation for the gold highlighted coins.  None of those coins have shipped yet.  What I expected to be very quick (I have generated addresses 2 digits longer in less time) has taken much longer than I thought.  While I do have 18 of the 25 required 1nastyau addresses, I only have 6 of them that have the right sequential (1nastyau1, 1nastyau2, etc.) characters.  I think for the good of the product, we should continue to wait.  I am open to outside thoughts if anyone feels that this has taken long enough and I should just use any 1nastyau address I can get my hands on.  That is certainly an understandable position.

15347  Other / Meta / Re: Mods calrification on posting in Goods/Collectibles please on: April 26, 2016, 06:45:36 AM
I thought the Collectibles section was for Bitcoin related collectibles and that was the difference. Perhaps it should be renamed "Bitcoin Collectibles" instead.
15348  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Vanitygen: Vanity bitcoin address generator/miner [v0.22] on: April 26, 2016, 04:50:27 AM
Just a heads up...  I upgraded to AMD's 16.4.2 drivers and vanitygen no longer worked.  I had to downgrade in order to get it working again.
i have those drivers and it works, just tested it.

Code:
C:\oclvanitygen>oclvanitygen64.exe -o done.txt -D 0:0 -D 0:1 1test
Difficulty: 264104224
Pattern: 1test
Address: 1testTeRt7D64QuUqHomV3aiXr2yYDSm1
Privkey: 5KXERMsfQ1AetjGpY5fdveEWAWHPevau8ePP7qf33xVRweSSwvh

Interesting.  Mine would crash upon launching when trying to use the GPU (CPU worked fine still).  The GPU is a R9 390x.  I tried both 16.4.1 & 16.4.2.
15349  Economy / Services / Re: LEGENDARY MEMBER Offering TRUSTED BITCOIN ESCROW services (NO ACCOUNTS, NO FIAT) on: April 26, 2016, 04:36:01 AM
Friendly tip.  If sending BTC into escrow, you should do it from an address that you control the private keys.  That way if there is an issue and you need the BTC refunded, it can be sent back to the sending address.

I WILL NOT REFUND A BITCOIN ADDRESS THAT IS NOT THE SENDING ADDRESS WITHOUT A SIGNED MESSAGE FROM THE SENDING ADDRESS.

RULES:
1. I will not escrow accounts, paypal, or gift cards.
2. I will not refund a Bitcoin address that is not the sending address without a signed message from the sending address.
3. I am not a bank.  Escrows are for a period of 30 days and an additional 1% gift will be required for each 30 day period thereafter.

That is the transaction and I am sitting on the BTC.  I've asked for a signed message from the sending address stating where to refund the BTC.

Heck with the plate. Where did you get that sweet case, Zeroxal? My 5oz coin feels unloved now. Tongue
I got them from aliexpress here:
http://s.aliexpress.com/V7vQvyAZ

They are cheap AND have a pretty good quality Grin

It looks like you removed the airtites to put them in that frame.  Be careful.  Over time if those frames aren't air-tight you may see some discoloration of the coins.
15353  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Casascius Bitcoin Analyzer on: April 24, 2016, 07:20:29 PM
This is another good example to other physical cryptocoin creators to why having a public list of addresses is useful. Especially if they only put part of the address on their coin.

One of many.  I would personally question the generation and security practices of cryptocoin creators that are unable to produce a list of the addresses they've put on coins.  Everyone else should as well.

My 5oz silver arrived - this was the biggest piece of silver I have every had in my hand.
Thanks nasty for this coin!

...snip...

Looks like that case is big enough for a 3.5" 10oz coin.  Wink

Is it even a coin at that size?  More like a small plate  Cheesy

...and with that comment, the plate is born...

I barely trust ANACS to handle my coins.  No way I would consider adding a middleman for any amount of savings.

One of our S7's has been down for about 24 hours.  After looking into it, it appeared to be due to a firmware issue that relied on a 114.114.114.114 DNS server in China that has gone down.  I have updated the firmware and things are up and running again.  Smiley

EDIT:  Machines went down again for a few hours on 4/23 because my internet went down...

I had an S7 suddenly show as dead.  It was running 10/23 firmware.  Updating to the 12/11 firmware solved the issue.
