1541  Economy / Speculation / Re: The only way to get rich is by riding the next big alt pump on: February 07, 2017, 09:00:38 AM
What was the biggest 10x+ "alt pumps" so far?  ethereum? it went 80 times or 8 thousand percent higher than initial price. I think that game credits is a record holder.

XEM managed over 100 times over the course of a few months. It went from 24 satoshis around the start of 2016 to 2800 by June. But it was also so painfully obvious what was happening that I pity anyone who bought in in a frenzy.

There is anything particular to XEM justifying it's rise? Did not seen nothing impressing me, so just been sitting back watching. No interest in "quick money" at all, if it is other people's money in the end results.
1542  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: You have 10 seconds to post an altcoin that you think will go 100% in 3 months on: February 07, 2017, 08:49:33 AM
Heyhey no "pressure" like ten seconds! Precise forecasts do require their time.
So the shortlist:

Lisk, so far they did not achived anything compareable to Etherium, but their technology seems to me much more accessible for programers than ETH looks like, and they did not blundered in a similar manner. DAO *cough* *cough*

Byteballs are hot just now. If they can maintain their distribution the following monthes this could get interesting. Everything DAG based, even IOTA if they will deliver.

Zcash has some solid anonymity technology, the former competition merely beeing a deathtrap for folks relying on that. But this "valley" will expand further, so only low buying opportunities approaching. Nothing on a 3 monthes timescale.

1543  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: What determines the price of Altcoins? on: February 07, 2017, 08:41:02 AM
Market participants determine the prices of altcoins...and bitcoin as well.

If you are talking about what influence the price, the biggest one overall is the BTC market price.  When BTC goes up, it drags most of the alts up with it (in fiat terms).  And the opposite is true when it tanks.

Some Alts are moving "anticyclic" as in maintaining their Fiat notation. Ten dollars staying ten dollars, like that. Usually XMR moves like that except recent christmas pump where it tried to follow Bitcoin.
If you are Bitcoin centric, leveraging out these effects can slowly lift your portfolio on a calculateable level gain.
1544  Economy / Speculation / Re: Price climbing fast again on: February 07, 2017, 08:32:15 AM
I read somewhere that Trump government will support different types of investment options, so most probably we can assume bitcoin etf will get approved. If these go this way, our next estimations would be on how much investments are going to get attracted toward bitcoin etf. That would definitely will break the range bound of bitcoin prices.

They would act insane if stiffling this FinTech sector just out of a whim! There's that cynic nagging voice talking inside my head pointing out that somebody merely has to mention "Satoshi actuall been a mexican" for this president to act just like he's always knee jerk reflexing on that.
Technology and racism are mutually exclusive. I'm german.
1545  Economy / Speculation / Re: Trump will crash the markets and bitcoin and gold will go to Jupiter on: February 05, 2017, 03:34:39 PM
Yes you are right BillyBobZorton. In just seven days Trump caused very serious problems for USA economy and he creating chaos on markets. If we will add potencial trade war beween China and USA than God save America You can see stock reaction on his travel ban for islamic people https://www.theguardian.com/business/live/2017/jan/30/stock-markets-us-dollar-trump-travel-ban-german-inflation-business-live
It could be not so funny in Europe, rising inflation there is 4 years high inflation in Germany, brexit may cause real crash if will be hard Brexit, question is what will happen with money stored and managed in London Citi
Rising debt problem is coming back one time again

Silicon Valley could get in trouble because of those recent political decisions. They are dependant upon human resource, and only the brightest minds. Which tend to happen to be of all existing religious confessions. You cannot eject a developer from your team just because she is buddhist and wears pants, not skirts.
1546  Economy / Speculation / Re: Price climbing fast again on: February 05, 2017, 03:31:31 PM
The price movement now is just a self fulfiling prophecy. The people that bought earlier are buying a little more to gain more confidence in their own decisions and people that had sold earlier are just assured that it will grow by the price not falling. Thats how I see it.

There is that classical chartpattern called "bulltrap" which could be forming out just right now. I exspected that to happen some week earlier. Predictions aren't really easy to do, but if that (above) happens kust everybody will announce it's been "clear from the beginning" since it's pretty distinctive.
1547  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: What determines the price of Altcoins? on: February 05, 2017, 03:28:47 PM
1. demands, if a coin is very popular like dogecoin, its market cap is very high although no innovation on dogecoin. XMR, DASH as well.
2. technology, ethereum is the best example of this, ethereum's market cap is NO.2, because its smart contract is the most sophisticated program in the world.
3. miners, look ltc and zcash, miners support the price.

I beg to differ on all those three bullet points!

Zcash first, emissionrate and subsidy are drawing away any investment. One cannot buy, only dump it. Litecoin beeing a slightly different thing since it is closely associated with Bitcoin mining and ASICs manufactoring.

Ethereum DAO fail. WTF Classic, really?

Both Monero and DASH got an edge above DOGE and their current trade value states that in clearly visible numbers. XMR still needs more adoption at their primary niche DNMs and DASH is at least tradeable at almost each and every tradeside.
1548  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What is being told to people in High Schools about Bitcoin on: February 05, 2017, 12:26:13 PM
bitcoin is currently developing a vast sector. it seems there is no specific way to tell bitcoin among schools. bitcoin growing and expanding rapidly on the internet. anyone who accesses the internet will recognize bitcoin quickly.

On my imagination there allready is no way to get arround getting that recognition, each and every techchannel touted the toppic one or more time. And there is politics, the complaints against Silk Road from officials (in a strange timing right before SR got busted ?)
So there comes another attac angle. Getting kids into technology and politics Cheesy ooh I know that sounds nasty. The bonmot "on a long enough timescale we are all deads" (Homer Simpson) tells about the inescapeability. Face live, tech, politics and bitcoin comes as a bundle.
1549  Economy / Speculation / Re: Say bye to Triple Digits on: February 05, 2017, 12:17:57 PM
It would be more exiciting if we can see 5 digits this year or maybe next 2 years.  Keeping at four digits in price for a long time lessen the chance of bitcoin price to back to three digits.

Aaaand again, from Chinese new year "Year of the fire rooster" it's merely +12.5% far away into 10 000 Renminbi. Huobi strieved for 8888 on that 28th january because of lucky numbers and whatsnot.

But you cannot guess what that would be in Dollars since the exchange rates are highly political. Just one party deciding to devalue their currency for export economy motivations.

Neither triple nor 4 nor 5 digits are anything stable that could act as a further support line on charts.
1550  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Stop Trump Coin on: February 05, 2017, 05:22:18 AM
This is what we call a PumpNDump, going-nowhere coin. But how you spend your money is up to you.

People acting lead by greed. You are right, nobody get's forced to even consider cryptopia as a trading place. They neither got the volume nor the user numbers of compareable, reputable altcoin exchange sites.
Your research hint on Wikipedia would be "bucket shop"
1551  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DOGE] Dogecoin - very currency many coin - v1.10.0 on: February 05, 2017, 05:17:07 AM
I think the time is right for a DOGE re-brand.
If this was taken forward & done right you would see DOGE back in the top 10 again.
Just of course my humble opinion  Smiley

Just DOGE is all about it's unique Meme. Never been much about the tech behind. If you re-brand this, you basically kill the phenomenon.
1552  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [PASC] PascalCoin, deletable blockchain & bank account system [PASA] on: February 05, 2017, 05:14:33 AM
PASC wil lraise to 70k again i feel it guys

buy now
sorry brother looks like you buying on the top, hoping for another top
at the moment yure losing 30%,damn thats was REKT

Charts featuring a pre-pump, the main pump and some trailing bulltrap. The long decay following will usually last as long until the last one loses the signal from tracking radars.
Not exactly unique.
1553  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What is being told to people in High Schools about Bitcoin on: February 05, 2017, 02:47:54 AM
There is not much of a point in debating with someone that does not even have their fact straight, the teacher is just parroting whatever he heard on TV instead of researching the facts himself, if he did then he will go and buy bitcoin immediately.
The narrative got invented from main media, get used to that. What bitcoin country lacks the most is leaving the echo chamber, reaching people outside over there.
1554  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What Frustrates You Most When Using Bitcoin? on: February 05, 2017, 02:46:31 AM
The slow as fuck confirmation time and the high as fuck fee on microtransactions.

Same here, slow transactions really frustrates me. After sending and upon checking on the blockchain there is no transaction appearing yet and your client/receiver bugging you for not seeing the transaction.I hope this issue will be fully addressed in the future.

Even worser than that, blockchain syncing. People who run a full node 24h usually do not recognizes, but in my case everytime I want to transfer coins it's usually a weekspan to cover up.
And at current blockchain size I doubt I would ever sync it again on a data loss accident.
1555  Economy / Speculation / Re: Say bye to Triple Digits on: February 05, 2017, 02:41:39 AM
1020 very strong on bitstamp

will have to dive... before climbing up again

2% above "Triple Digits". Those markers are arbitrary at best, just pointing out the fact that whole of europe still things Triple Digits and what about the Chinese?
Psychology of numbers is overated.
1556  Economy / Speculation / Re: Say bye to Triple Digits on: February 03, 2017, 06:35:52 PM
Cup and handle forming..

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0HtyF0jux2Q

Do we form the cup and handle or do we flop :O?!?!?!?!

Did that cup and handle formed out before, ever? Any examples inside chart history?
On my perception it's the most misleading pattern. When you are standing on a hill, and been standing on a hill before and have walked through a long and cheapdeep valley, what would you exspect to appear next on the landscape?

The wanderer collects fairy tells but doesn't believes in them.
1557  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How to make governments accept bitcoin? on: February 03, 2017, 06:30:41 PM
Easy for everybody to get that perception of governments beeing all-so overly centralized, and cryptos beeing decentralized.
Just is it still true?

Watching the european union, which is drifting apart. The trend depicts a future of singled out nationalistic parts, each doing their own thing. This is decentralisation in progress.
Currencies might follow, each country their own currency again, as has been for all these centuries before.
One "united" key currency would break open ways for exchange again inside such a future. Govs might recognize the possibilities.
1558  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][KMD][dPoW] Komodo ICO - Zcash Zero Knowledge Privacy Secured by Bitcoin on: February 03, 2017, 06:18:08 PM
For those that are eager to know about pending transactions, did you know that inside iguana there is a block explorer? you can submit listunspent calls directly to the network and get results back like the above, for any address that already did an importaddress.

By doing this you can find out what is actually on the blockchain, without needing the blockchain locally, or having a block explorer website current

This needed some highlight

Definitely. Whenever I touch a so called blockexplorer I'm all of a sudden remembering that it's the perfect place to track people, connecting their crypto transfers with some IP and geolocation.
1559  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: IOTA - Unmoderated thread on: February 03, 2017, 06:16:15 PM
iotatoken=david=shit
IOTA=SCAM

so fuckin simple, just watch and learn at their moderated forum.

"scam" implies a malicious intention,
Great point.

Now Id say its not a real scam, its just incompetence. The scam is an opportunity, not originally planned for.

IoT is very attractive, its an enterprise buzzword, so of course it attracts real people with real good skills, but the founders and leaders, are just incompetent, both technically and socially obviously, and are delivering vapor, "almost-good" "we will have it ready soon" "from day 1 we knew we have to build asics and sell that duh".

The train is in full steam ahead, the crash wont be spectacular, good parts will fall out of IOTA. But it wont be the one and only machine economy infrastructure or anything like that at all.

Lovely picture, might be we just have to scavage all those trainwrecks of these last two years to assemble something shiny new stuff that features real brilliance.
Maybe something IoT based like https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mirai_(malware) that can be rented out for coins?
Have to leave this thread, trying to buy in when the Fudlevels calmed down for some weeks.
1560  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: IOTA - Unmoderated thread on: February 02, 2017, 11:30:24 PM
Let me teach you a few things about your project, my retarded litte padawan. Even though IOTA might have been a good idea at first; you are fucking too late. Byteball basically assimilated your whole business plan and left you with a still unfinished product. Time to market is everything and you Sir, royally fucked up.
I don't think IOTA's business plan was to charge transaction fees. Try again?

Laaanguage, you Wookies! Watch your language.
Well, IOTA seems to be struggling behind now. But there are some differences between those two, and the newcomer isn't even distributed between the interested parties so far. Estimates are ranging for another >12 monthes up to 1 1/2 year.
Enough time to surprise us, devs! Both got a reason to exist. Do it.
