Well, I tried telling how bitcoin works to some of my friends. They seem to be amazed at how things work for bitcoin and I even showed them some of my conversions of fiat to bitcoin and vice-versa, and that really hit them, but apparently, most of my friends are too lazy to pursue knowledge about bitcoins and are contented to what fiat can do to them. I ended up having one friend using bitcoins and he is joining several discussions here in the forum too.

He has written in the OP that he doesn't remember his password or his password has changed "i try to log in and password is corrupted or something".
I was expecting that the account in question here is the one OP used to post this thread, but it turns out I'm wrong. ![Huh](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/huh.gif) OP, have you tried the method several times? The system seemed to work fine due to other users' feedback.

As others have already pointed out, signature campaigns are the safest way to get some decent bitcoins. There are other things though that you can try to do to make some pretty good bitcoins such as lending your bitcoins or trading. Lending and trading could probably burn your assets, but it can also be a good way to earn some nice stash of bitcoins when you know what you are doing.

Me too, want it gone or username changed
Who do I need to email hourly to get this done.
Afaik, only theymos has the power to change a username, but he rarely does it because there is no need. If you really want to change your username so bad, you can donate 50btc and be a donator, and choose username you desire. ![Wink](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/wink.gif)

nothing in the spam folder!
i receive updates in the inbox, illogical to have from same email address, mails in inbox and spam....
Have you simply logged out and tried to log back in with your new password? As far as I understand it there are no password change confirmation emails, because if an attacker got into your account he could just change your email anyway. I might be wrong about that last part. Can anyone confirm that BCT does not send pw change confirmation emails which need to be clicked to change the pw?? Confirmed Log in using old password, change password, log in using new password. No email confirmation. Exactly. Why would you need to reset your password when you can just simply change the password directly without even opening your email?

received 1 email at 7AM(dunno what GMT)
followed the link in the email
chose the new password, reinsert for verification
i get this: An Error Has Occurred! Invalid activation code
Hmm, odd. Why didn't you just change the password directly and not reset it? That's what I did when this forum got back up, and it seems that I have done nothing wrong so far.

tl;dr -- theymos released PMs related to BFL and that's why, OP created this thread.
Eh, he can't do anything regarding that matter because the authorities mandated him to do so. The BFL is involved in an activity involving a ton of money, and the feds love chasing those people who made the atrocities.

Just got this 502 error when I first load the forum, but let's see if this post gets through. Seems like the forum isn't hosted on SSDs (?) as of this moment because of the sluggish response whenever I load every single thread. I won't mind another downtime since it's for the benefit of us all.
EDIT: I tried to do the quick edit thing with the small button on the right side, but it seems that it would take me forever to do so. Also, my post made it through, in just one try.

I ain't receiving any spam email like the others here do. I only receive quoted replies to my posts and that is all fine by me. Also, I once considered putting a secret question to my account but changed my mind after I learned that having one would make your account more vulnerable to hacking attempts instead of having a second layer of protection for your account. Well in any case, I changed my password now. It's been a year or so since I last changed it, and luckily my account isn't compromised in any way.

Hmm, having a look at the post history, the majority of it was in the German boards, but when the forum came back online, I noticed a sudden change on the posts of this user: it appears that his English is not bad at all. Also, the account became active again since its last post in 2012, and looking through the history of this forum, there are several compromises on the forum's security causing to have some down time. Could the account be compromised too? I don't know.

Full dox would probably help us see who he is, but how can we be sure if the dox pertains to theymos himself? Also, why would we care in the first place? Altering information within the forum could be noticed by the users themselves, if that is your problem.

First and foremost, how come do you even come up with a complete conclusion that theymos is an agent of the government?

Well, for security purposes, the first thing I did when I logged in to this forum is change my password. Better safe than sorry. It's nice to see that the forum is up and running again, and it's quite saddening that the downtime extended through our lovely Bitcoin for Pizza day. ![Sad](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/sad.gif) But oh well, I guess that's how the system works after all. Good to see everything is back to normal (well, kinda).

There are potentially harmful links that are being posted here, but before clicking links, it is advisable to run a scan on VirusTotal so as to minimize the risk of visiting an infected site. Also, try having an AV so that you will have an added layer for your pc against the threats of harmful scripts and codes that could run an exploit once you clicked that link.

I cannot participate in buying an actual pizza for bitcoins, but I could probably tweet about the event. I've been trying to find the appropriate and legitimate service wherein I could buy pizza for my bitcoins, but apparently, such a service isn't available yet on our country. 12:00 GMT would probably be around 8PM for me. I would love to take part in this historical event by tweeting, though I want to eat a pepperoni pizza with lots of cheese toppings for that day. ![Sad](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/sad.gif)

so we can assume that we need at least two halving, and that the coming one is not enough, it make sense seeing how the price is still crippled
Not neccesarily related to the halving and the price of bitcoin. Retailers accepting probably means through current methods, ie. changing directly to fiat at purchase. Price won't matter than. I personally don't like that. We don't need retailers that instantly convert to fiat. They're only doing it so that they attract more people (i.e. Bitcoin users). However we know there are companies that keep a certain % or some that don't convert at all. There was a list around somewhere on the forums. We need that kind of merchants. Those merchants would only appear if bitcoins are widely accepted throughout the globe. In the current times, merchants would be glad to convert their coins to fiat for some profit. That's why they're doing business in the first place. Also, what would they do with the bitcoins if it isn't generally accepted by the public if they start implementing it? Speculate just as what the day traders do? I don't think so. These businesses need some steady inflow of profits so that they could use it to expand. Bitcoins wouldn't help in that cause mainly because of the price volatility and it isn't that mainstream yet. In order to compensate with the implementation of bitcoins as a form of payment in their businesses, bitcoins must be a widely-accepted money around the globe so that these businesses could use bitcoins to expand without risking some percentage of their gains because of price volatility.

Can you provide an exact date for the launch of your service? Also, as others have already pointed, please consider using escrow until you build a good reputation among the community.

Robots or not, McDonald's would still be serving their customers unhealthy food. If ever this becomes a reality, many people who are employed will be affected. As AI becomes truer and nearer, the danger of replacing humans with robots in different jobs is escalating. Good for the management and owners of McDonald's. Bad for the once employed humans who worked for them.

The one who discovered a certain vulnerability cannot be deemed as a thief at all; the one who used the vulnerability and exploited it for his own gain is.
Person A finds out via brute force that the private key 0xFFFF FFFF FFFF 1111 contains 10BTC and tells person B the Bitcoin address and person D the private key
dude, if you will find you how to hack bank, and you will tell to one of your friends how to do it and to second one you will provide all software and your laptop..guess who will be guilty.. You will be charged of something but you will not be the most guilty. The one who used and applied the software to exploit the bank will be more likely to get imprisoned and the one who provided the software for exploitation would also be sent behind bars, though it would be a lighter charge because he somehow took part on the exploitation by providing the necessary software.

The majority of future bitcoiners will not know a lot about it. Just like most users of cash and/or credit cards have no idea about the actual workings behind it. Honestly for bitcoin to succeed, people dont need to be very tech oriented, they just need to know their holdings will be safe.
Securing your assets is one thing, but knowing how to use it properly is another. Say you have already obtained those precious coins. First thing you'll do is to make sure that you are protected from different exploitations and attacks. If you managed to do this, you'll feel relieved. But there are other things a bitcoin user must know aside from protecting his/her assets--spending it and how to do it without doing some mistakes. I've seen some bitcoin users who made a mistake on setting up the transaction fee because they thought it is where they will input what amount will they send.
