that's what i'm talking about when i mention marketing.  i mean, who knew NXT is the cryptocurrency sponsor at payment expo 2015?  not a lot.

i think the NXT guys should make it a point to let others know.

that's big and something newsworthy.
15582  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is Nxt open source? on: January 05, 2015, 01:52:52 AM
what's the NXT core team doing in marketing the platform to companies?  i think it's time for them to be aggressive in 2015. imo the devs are doing great with the recent work done, but how's marketing?

Define marketing.

like assign a team to go to conferences presenting NXT to potential institutional investors and businesses that could use the platform.  i think NXT is starting to outgrow relying purely on its community, alt forums and word of mouth.

Wrong time to sell out..

Goodbye !!

don't worry.. a lot of people will be coming back when it starts trending back up and becomes profitable again.  right now, you can't really blame the people who want out as they are and will lose money in BTC right now.
15585  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: I Am Getting Out of Bitcoin on: January 05, 2015, 01:18:43 AM
A little premature I think because their is so much Bitcoin development on the cusp of being released. Multiple killer aps in 2015!

BTC is not dead.  just trending down. that's very natural when something is traded in an open market.

yeah right, blame your losses on the romanian gypsies.

15587  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: I Am Getting Out of Bitcoin on: January 05, 2015, 12:26:44 AM
I feel Bitcoin is taking a big hit and people are getting bored with it. Mining is not profitable what so ever, people keep selling out, it seems the Rise and Rise of Bitcoin is turning into the Fall and Fall of Bitcoin. I am getting completely out of Bitcoin and transitioning to something more promising for the future. Some alternatives that have caught my attention are: Ripple & Stellar.

Whats your guys opinion about Bitcoin? Are you guys getting out and transitioning also? What other currencies are you looking into?

never close your mind to anything. these are just market trends and are natural. if BTC goes down to 100+ or so, so be it, but i will not be surprised if it starts going back up from there.  so always be ready to get back in just in case.

as for which project to invest in, i'd say avoid XRP and STR for now (tho i think both projects are good), as XRP is showing signs of falling with BTC, and STR could follow soon.  so be careful and just be in the sidelines and wait for a better opportunity. you wouldn't want to be trapped with paper losses.

i think a good project to place a bet on is NXT.  it's gradually breaking out and could be a start of an uptrend.

edit:  and it wouldn't be a bad idea to hold some fiat.  you can hold bitstamp.USD in ripple for easy convert to BTC when it starts going up again.  imo nubits is also a good option for easy convert back to crypto.

funny how some people take this obvious troll seriously.

<3 OP..  keep em coming.  Cheesy
15589  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why does price fall when I buy and it rises after I sell? on: January 04, 2015, 05:26:50 PM
it helps when you watch the markets daily so you get some sorta feel for it.  once you get familiar with the different markets, you notice gradual rising prices a lot sooner in some coins that become full blown uptrends later.  for example, take a look at NXT, it's slowly going up, it could be a good time to place a bet at these prices. but also be ready to take a small loss if your trade goes against you cos most of the time these breakouts more likely are fake and tend to reverse.

good luck.
15590  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Altcoins are a mess, but Bitcoin looks vulnerable to being dethroned on: January 04, 2015, 02:34:28 PM
it's a good time to use ripple and convert some btc to usd then store it in your ripple wallet. nubits is also good, as both options make it easy to convert back to crypto.
15591  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: A terrible day for cryptos... on: January 04, 2015, 02:05:37 PM
Every single major crypto is down in the double digits. The price of a single bitcoin has reached its lowest point in 14 months. What's going on here?

The only cryptos in the top 50 that have gone up in the past 24 hours are 17. Marinecoin (979 percent but with <1 BTC volume), 24. BitcoinDark (0.57 percent), and 48. Unobtanium (16.46 percent).

nothing we can do but hedge our bets and convert some crypto to fiat.  i personally like holding bitstamp.USD in ripple for easy conversion back to crypto.  also bought some nubits for the same reason.
15592  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What the rise in Ripple means. on: January 04, 2015, 01:39:25 PM
Ripple will fall with bitcoin just wait for it. Problem is Ripple is older then bitcoin and hast still a community of the size of 5% compared to bitcoin.

Banks won't do shit.

Mostly agree - I don't think Ripple (or Stellar for that matter) is the bitcoin killer. Ethereum, Counterparty, NEM and NectarCoin look like stronger prospects.

nothing can replace BTC.  those projects mentioned above could complement BTC one way or another tho and in a way, piggy back on each other which isn't a bad thing imho.

you also forgot to mention NXT.

Agree, the point of crypto is decentralized currency which takes power away from bankers and puts it in the hands of people. Ripple just puts power back in the hand of central banks

when did we the people ever get some "power"?

anyway, if you're into empowering the people, here's a project that helps do that: http://weboftrust.net

guess where that's built on?

i think what NXT needs is a core marketing crew with good connections.  it's time for the platform to be marketed towards businesses.
