Suggestion: add Trust scores to the list, like pugman did.
15582  Other / Meta / Re: Please close the "Politics" section on: March 06, 2020, 02:40:03 PM
I propose to close the "Politics" section
Opposed!

Quote
1) DOES NOT have anything to do with cryptocurrencies !!!
Politics will only become more involved in cryptocurrencies. And although I barely use that board, part of the vision that comes with cryptocurrencies has to do with freedom. And freedom has everything to do with politics.

Quote
2) In this section there is nothing but mutual insults and reproaches
Great! Enjoy that freedom!

Quote
3) inciting ethnic hatred
Again: enjoy the rare freedoms this forum offers! Barely any website allows people to speak their mind, and you don't have to agree with them to understand the dangers of thought control.

Quote
4) This provokes conflicts between users who (conflicts) are then transferred to other sections of the forum (personal enmity)
You can't have freedoms without others having the freedom to oppose your views.

Quote
5) Messages and topics, except insults, obscene expressions and all kinds of fake news and speculation, make no sense
You too are entitled to your opinion. Do as I do: don't read it if you don't enjoy reading it.

Quote
6) Messages and topics violate the current legislation of many countries
So.forking.what? If your country doesn't like what's being posted on the internet, they're free to disconnect themselves, or build a Great Firewall or whatever they feel will protect their citizens politicians and their power.

Quote
Also, messages in the "Off topic" section should not be taken into account when counting posts (activity).
That's been discussed before, and the only result will be that Activity spammers go spam other boards. No thanks, keep them there!
15583  Economy / Reputation / Re: Is Lauda still on DT? (taking requests!) Update: added Changelog! on: March 06, 2020, 01:58:15 PM
It turns out connection problems lead to "0 exclusions on DT2" in the Changelog. It's a bug, but I won't fix it. Let's say it can be used as a log of connection problems.
Update: I noticed someone took a screenshot of http://islaudastillondt.tk/, so I've now manually removed the log-entries caused by forum downtime.

15585  Economy / Services / Re: [FULL] ChipMixer Signature Campaign | Sr Member+ | Up to 0.0375 BTC/w on: March 06, 2020, 12:38:51 PM
What is the policy for the old posts that got deleted?
This question was answered before you even joined the forum:
One question regarding post count: I often "bump" a thread. Obviously, that post doesn't count, as it's too short. But, the next week, when I bump again, I delete the first bump when I bump again. The new bump isn't counted, but removing my original bump lowers my Post Count. Am I right each bump effectively costs me 1 real post not being counted? Or do you account for this?
I go by post timings, so you should be fine there.
If you look at the spreadsheet, you'll notice the "Starting Post #" this week is often different than the "Ending Post #" last week.

no mention for Wall Observers topic.
See:
6. Posts in spam megathreads (based on my opinion), posts in campaign threads (including this one), necroposts for no good reason, posts in the Wall Observer thread and posts that "beat a dead horse" will not count.
15586  Economy / Reputation / Re: NOW LIVE Viewing unedited/deleted posts (search per post, per user or per topic) on: March 06, 2020, 07:49:56 AM
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4337249.0

Quote the post and then click on preview. You will see that the post is shown correctly. But it doesn't work when it is posted. It says "INVALID BBCODE: close of unopened tag in table (1)"
Maybe it hits the 64 kB limit in HTML, the Russian characters take a lot more space that way. I'm not sure if that's the limit though, I've made posts that take 80 kB when scraped.

Interesting how you can quote the post to see contents. I know this is a scenario that's too specific but I'll post my two cents anyway.
There are more bug in SMF that cause the preview to show differently than the real post.

if posts with broken bbcode are still unedited and quotable, then their contents could be salvaged. Could that be worth pursuing?
I only want to archive what the forum shows as public information.
15587  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [ANN/PoC] Coldkey Cryptobond - FIRST Timelocked Physical Bitcoin on: March 06, 2020, 06:46:49 AM
Is block height the only variable that can be used to determine the “unlock” date or can months, years, etc also be used?
Yes, but it's more tricky:
As for how "hardcoded" that is, the documentation just says anything above 500 million... We're not going to see 500 million blocks in a few centuries, (what's that equivalent to anyway, ... )

So 10 years is about 500,000 blocks ... 1 million blocks is 20 years... so 500 million blocks would have been ten thousand years.
That's my point: using a block number will work for a very long time, but using a UNIX timestamp I'm not so sure about: it's a 32 bit counter, and it has a Year 2038 problem.

If you want to set a Locktime 25 years in the future, it's already not possible and you'll have to rely on future fixes (and assume the implementation will still work for you). That can be a very expensive mistake if it fails.

I see here that a thread was captured with just the error message for wrong BBcode:
http://loyce.club/archive/posts/5395/53951381.html

Any way to include the content in spite of wrong BBcode?
I don't do BBCode, I only read HTML. This error came from the forum, not from me. I just save the post as it was made before editing.

15591  Other / Meta / Re: Sponsored threads on: March 05, 2020, 11:51:17 AM
I think this applies here:
However, if you are using the forum as a publishing platform to host something really substantial and useful, selling ads in that substantial work is allowed. To be eligible for this, your post must be in a topic that you started, and your post must be substantial and long enough to make the ad seem entirely insignificant. If in doubt, ask me.
15592  Other / Meta / Re: Merit/activity ratio. on: March 05, 2020, 08:52:14 AM
It is hard to believe there would be many users with this ratio bigger than 5
There are a few users with low Activity (and only a few posts) and more than 5 Merit per Activity. Some of them deserved, some because they deleted all posts, and some because of Merit abuse (or mistakes).
My ratio is limited by the airdropped Merit and Activity I had already at that point.

On the note of Merit/Activity ratio, in order to be fair, it would need a delimited timeframe to cut out or reduce the effect produced by activity generated before the Merit System kicked-off.
Even better: correct it for Merit per post instead of Merit per Activity. I made a topic for that a long time ago.

Then it's settled. The merit club's first birthday shall be celebrated with the appropriate attire. Grin
Domain claimed! And warning added:
Warning: NSFW! I can get http://isfoxpupstillaNSFWvixen.tk/
Like all my .tk domains, it expires after a year, so it's possible someone else claims ownership later on. Dot.tk domains can't be extended with crypto, and I sure as hell won't use my creditcard for it.
There is another limitation:
Quote
The Dot TK Registry does not allow any free domain name registrations of which the referred websites contain content similar as stated in the categories below:

ADULT ENTERTAINMENT – This category includes websites that contain pornography, adult or mature content. This does NOT include chat, lingerie and/or swimwear websites. However, nudism websites are considered to be ‘mature content’.
So depending on your plans, maybe another domain is better.

(This thread got even more out of hand than usual.)
It all started when my time machine landed 7 seconds before yours.

But BeEvil's vote isn't a deciding vote. Even without him you'd have more than enough votes left to be DT1.

Those don't matter for DT1 voting.

AFAIK banned user's votes count for DT1. Is there somewhere an explanation why this is?
One solution would be to wipe their Trust list, but as far as I know, banned users can still edit their Trust list too. That might be too much though: banned users can still use the forum read-only, and they should still be able to choose who they trust.
So indeed, blacklisting banned users from DT1-voting would be better.
