1561  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [AИN] NODE - 2n Gen. CryptoCurrency build from SCRATCH on NODE.JS - Brand NEW! on: August 29, 2014, 06:16:20 AM
Last night was the updating of the network and the transaction does not fall within this time
He needs to do a new transaction, as his coins were not synchronized and Departures
We do update several times a day

Thank you for the answer SillkRoad. I'm fairly certain he will resend but its still a kind of a pickle. Well for all the people asking to be on exchanges,
its pretty obvious NODE is not ready yet for that. Give the devs the time they need to finish this coin.

I'll resend today as and if it doesn't work again I'll send you back your NXT - no worries Smiley.

@SillkRoad: So what's with the updating several times a day ? Could you tell me when I can send a tx that will actually go through ?
1562  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [AИN] NODE - 2n Gen. CryptoCurrency build from SCRATCH on NODE.JS - Brand NEW! on: August 28, 2014, 05:57:47 PM

1) How do you confirm the transaction
-When Adding transaction peers sends it all when another peer receives a new transaction, and it is valid, it again sends it to all active peers, if the transaction is already with peer and came transaction is valid - it is added confirmation

With this work we want to achieve high speed confirmation, so you can get more than 50 - 100 confirmation in less than 1-3 seconds
If the user Node will pay in the store will receive a quick result as Visa or PayPal

2) How does the verification blocks
- Similar to confirm the transaction

So blocks and txs are spread through the network and every single NODE node (that's a little weird to write Smiley) validates it and if valid spread it further ? If a node receives a tx or block again it is considered a confirmation ?

Isn't that susceptible to a sybill attack ? What if I put up many NODE nodes and spread my bogus txs like a maniac ?
I'm sure I'm missing something so I'm just asking because I want to understand Smiley

I'd appreciate an answer Smiley

Yes, I too was wondering about the technical details relating to this question.

Thanks

If the transaction is valid then there is no problem, you will help the network by contributing your node-power! But If the transaction is invalid, that it will be marked as invalid in every peer that receives it, it just will not work in any client
even if it has  already 100.500 confirmations when it will come into the working node.
Each block and the transaction is validated before confirming or adding!

Your nodes will be marked as spamming  wrong transaction, and your nodes simply fall into the black lists (it will be implemented later as a security measure)

Node.js technology allows you to handle more than one hundred thousand connections per second

So basically each NODE node holds it's own blockchain and decides wether a transaction is valid on it's own ?

I've been traveling and didn't have my computer with me. After reading these comments, I'm really excited to get home and test this beta.

For the longest time before there was even an alpha, I tried to reassure people that NEM was real and the devs were serious. I had followed the nxt forum and so was very confident in this. Now I'm so happy to see this coming along.

We're still in alpha Smiley

Thank you guys for testing and giving feedback. Right now that is one of the most important things a stakeholder can do Smiley
1567  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [AИN] NODE - 2n Gen. CryptoCurrency build from SCRATCH on NODE.JS - Brand NEW! on: August 27, 2014, 04:01:46 PM

1) No! The BTC/Eur/USD Integration stands for the ability to send and receive BTC/Eur/USD trough Node! There is no internal exchange! So no liquidity issue!

How is one going to send BTC let a lone EUR through NODE if there is no internal exchange ?
1568  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: NODE : BUY / SELL THREAD on: August 27, 2014, 03:24:52 PM
Selling 500.000 NODE for 10.000 NXT
Escrow if wanted but buyer pays the fees.

1.) It would be good if Harvesting was automatically turned on by default - i'm sure most people would rather be harvesting then not. But of course, leave the option there to turn it off if they so choose.

Starting harvesting automatically means the private key must be stored in cleartext somewhere. I don't think this is a good idea.
Encrypted wallet file is a good thing.

If you really need it, there is a bash script (harvest.sh) to start harvesting; if you don't use Linux someone can create something like that for your system.

Obviously that would only work if the user has laready decrypted his wallet and is logged in. I think it's not a bad idea allthough I'm not sure everyone would appreciate it.

harvest.sh is only needed if you're running NIS headless so it shouldn't concern the avg user.

Any new features implemented in 0.2.9? What's the full list of features implemented at this time?

@ DEVS. well done. This wallet is rockin. NEM monitor is freaking awesome

is?
 not yet seen ...

Ofc it is promising that the software gets positive feedback from test users.
Tho few negative issues http://forum.nemcoin.com/index.php?topic=2230.150 may indicate about ...
a) software compatibility error
b) usability error
c) users that were not well enough informed
d) something else ...

You're mixing feedback for an older release with one for a newer release.
Feedback may still be valid...just sayin Wink

I'll sell 400.000 NODE for 10.000 NXT

I think they don't want to waste the money. Once the Client works that online thing isn't needed anymore.

A comodo ssl cert for one subdomain can be obtained for like $10/year. Instant delivery mostly. Installation is <30min. So it could all be done in an hour or so...

I'm aware that it's not much effort to do this and I've also stated this like 10 pages ago. Just trying to give reason as to why they may haven't done it so far Smiley
1574  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM Official Moderated Thread - Crowdsale has begun[Updates & Discussion] on: August 26, 2014, 06:13:41 AM
Wow.. Gotta say - that client is S-L-I-C-K.. I'm a stakeholder for NEM and NODE, and from what I've seen, the NEM client is definitely nicer to use.. Though this whole NIS / NCC is a bit maddening- couldn't get the one-step installer to work as there was no installation of NCC so far as I can tell.. Otherwise, love it.

Can't wait to watch this grow!

Yeah, and the client is only the beginning...

NEM has a ton of awesome features and infrastructure working down the pipeline (think apps, ATMs, and mobile).  I have said it before, out of all the current crypto coins I believe NEM has the most upward potential. Also, the one click install will probably become a little more clean as we get closer to launch. We could probably help with a little more information.

-EFFV

Personally I have noticed the one-click-install become more intuitive each time I start it up.

The NEM devs are kicking ass with the client. Sure there are still kinks, but it already runs better than most java apps I have used.

I agree. The first couple of releases were far from ideal when looking at the one-click installer. As a matter of fact the last one was the first one that worked flawlessly for me Smiley
As I said the next one should be a big step-up and once Oracle officially support Java 8 there should really not be any further problems apart from special cases.

I think most of the problems people are encountering now - with the installation process - are because of newer verison not being backwards compatible (obviously will not happen that often after launch) anyway.

I hear ya !
The next release - if everything goes well - will make the relation between NIS and NCC a lot smoother when it comes to the users experience.

It would be helpfull though if you could give us a lot more details. What exactly does "did not work" mean ? What are your systems specs ?

1577  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: NEMStake - Read here how to request it. on: August 25, 2014, 12:58:05 PM
Does it make a difference if I request my stake now or after the launch?  Huh

The only difference is you could trade on the NXT AE before launch if you wanted that. Otherwise there is no difference in amount or anything like that.

I am not able to find my stake in the list. who can i talk to?

You were probably removed because the "logo" you "designed" hasn't been considered a serious attempt.

Yes, I'd also like to know if there is a new figurehead for NEM?
Is NEM traded anywhere yet?
Is there a source for it, a github?
Is there a wallet for NEM?

I currently hold some NEMstake, not sure what I want to do with them now.

Plz check the main thread https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=654845.0 and our forum forum.nemcoin.com for all the info you're looking for.

As if there weren't enough announcements this week, here's yet another important announcement!
http://forum.nemcoin.com/index.php?topic=2375.msg4442#msg4442

It's the intention to create AltNemo, the first company to exist in the NEM ecosystem. Let's help build it together.

Great idea. Kudos to =makoto1337 and Rockethead. I have a question though how long will the silver and and gold crowd sale last ? I would buy some silver coins so I don't want to miss the deadline. One idea is to number the coins and run them as a limited edition so make them more attractive to collectors.
Yes. it's nice the the NEM community supports closed source companies.

I have few prejudices against closed source businesses as long as useful products are made. Coinbase, Bitpay, Bitfinex etc. have been extremely helpful to Bitcoin for example. Nevertheless, the business model has to be clear and private company should have its own private funding. I only speak for myself not for NEM community.

That is why we are doing the coin sale, so we don't have to use ecosystem funds.

To be honest, though, UP's original intention seems to have been to use some of the 200 stakes for ecosystem dev to create for-profit projects, as he proposed several himself, including an exchange. So it seems like we are going through lots of extra work for nothing, when we could just ask for free money.

However, I am one of the people involved and I thought that a crowd sale would be better than relying only on ecosystem funds. If the sale goes well, we won't have to go begging for money from other sources.

All this information about the legal entity AltNemo should have been made public as well as the true intention of the coin sale.

Okay, so what did you think was "the true intention" of the coinsale ?

Nothing was said that funds raised were to be used for closed source proprietary software

That's doesn't answer my question.

And I'm not saying everything AltNemo does will be open source but can you point me to the part where anyone said that it will be closed source ?
