1561  Local / Marketplace (India) / Re: Want to buy peanuts in bulk on: August 18, 2023, 11:54:50 AM
Hello guys, I and my business partner want to purchase peeled peanuts from India in bulk to manufacture peanut butter. India is the largest exporter of peanuts, so I think there will be some guys on this forum who may own peanut company or are in touch with people who are into this business. We may purchase up to 1 metric ton at first. If everything will happen remotely, (buy, load ship, receive) we can use an escrow from this forum.

I am not sure whether you will find anyone here dealing with actual peeled peanuts. As per my understanding, this is not the place to find someone dealing in agri-based products. You can check this website for more information about your requirements. You can check https://www.indiamart.com/ and find out other payment options. I might be wrong, let's see if anyone here can help you which I doubt.
1562  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: IT'S BITCOIN.ORG 15 YEARS ANNIVERSARY AND NO ONE IS CELEBRATING on: August 18, 2023, 11:43:10 AM
15 years ago today, Satoshi Nakamoto and Martti Malmi entered the word BITCOIN into the annals of world history through the registration of the domain name BITCOIN.ORG.

I don't think that anyone still cares a lot about the anniversary of that site and that's why no one is celebrating its anniversary. Like @Poker Player said that the forum is bitcointalk.org not bitcoin.org and that's a valid reason for the members of the forum to not celebrate 15 years anniversary of that site. I also believe that the site is very important in we go back in the early days of Bitcoin, but now a days no one is that much interested in celebrating its anniversary. I hope you got your answer and if you are satisfied with your answer then kindly lock this thread.

I do not think that might be the case as I feel the community is more into celebrating the reason why Bitcoin become famous. Another reason I believe that most community members are active on the forum than the website. Though Bitcoin.org is the only website where you can read the whitepaper in different languages which according to me is a big achievement.
1563  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What resources do you have for members who may be dealing with addiction? on: August 18, 2023, 11:39:26 AM
You can only get these resources when you tell your problems to those closest to you because they can help you overcome your gambling addiction. This forum assists so that members here realize that there are dangers from excessive gambling, so they must always be careful and vigilant when stopping gambling.

If you want to find resources, you can contact the nearest psychiatrist in your city and tell them about your gambling addiction problem so that the psychiatrist can immediately find the right treatment for you.

Perhaps the initial therapy is to recognize that someone is already addicted to gambling by seeing how often they return to the casino and gamble. From there, they can try to reduce their gambling activities so they don't think about gambling continuously. And also, they must have discipline, self-control, patience, and so on to avoid gambling and only use gambling for fun.

I was asking for resources within the forum and not about family discussion. I was also looking for non-profit organizations that provide such services free of charge and are available online. The last option is to contact a professional who can help with the addiction. My understanding is that before visiting a pro there should a screening center or people who can recommend ways to help with this issue.

1567  Economy / Gambling discussion / What resources do you have for members who may be dealing with addiction? on: August 16, 2023, 03:56:07 PM
Hello everyone!

This is my first time on this board. I have a simple question for all the active members of this board. I know some members here are struggling with gambling addiction as I have read multiple threads which you can relate to the issue of addiction.

My question to everyone here is that if a member is hooked to this addiction, is their any resources to help that member. If not then what exactly is this community offering? I believe
if such a resources is available it should be on the pinned message. The next thing would be to always update it regularly, as things change quickly in gambling.

As addiction is a serious issue, if anyone here has been able to overcome it? Why not share how to overcome with such an addiction. As per my understanding all of these addiction have the same initial therapy. Do you agree with me? Cool

Thanks.

Thank you guys for the participation, and obviously you guys answered the quiz correctly.

My bad I am prepared with a lot of more questions with the thought of more members will be active today, no worries I think we still can continue the quiz everyday.

Any thoughts?

Missed it! More of such quiz would be highly appreciated. I believe we need to create more such interesting & engaging contents to get some traction on our local board.
1569  Local / India / Re: 77th Independence Day! on: August 14, 2023, 01:57:00 PM
We Indians would be celebrating our 77th Independence day tomorrow. Till the 75 th Independence day we had a lot of traffic on our local board and we were happy because crypto tax wasn't rolled out. Now my question is what do you except would happen whn we celebrate the 78th Independence day? Do keep in mind that we have Bitcoin halving and central election next year.

I would like to propose that we as a community should have some kind of competition to celebrate this occasion. I would request active board members to have share some suggestions regarding it.

Nothing would happen as the central government election would happen in the month of November. Some of us do know which political party would again come into power. I feel that the upcoming government won't have a single majority as in the political party and there would be some amendments regarding crypto afterwards.

What an incredible idea as I have not seen anyone creating a topic about Independence on the local board. I did saw Pakistani and Indonesians organizing different events for their local community. They are getting those events sponsored by those members who have been active for a long time. I would ask our merit source, Heisenberg_Hunter to rethink the next raffle and use the left over amount for a competition. There are a lot of religious events upcoming such as Diwali wherein we as a community can get our local board more action.

1571  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Web3 wallet trading alternatives you recommend? on: August 12, 2023, 04:05:17 PM
Like most of the opinions here, I cannot advise you on any of the available options, especially since most of them are recent and I have not tested most of their functions. The two most secure options, according to my experience, are MetaMask and Trust Wallet: the first is MetaMask, which is open source and works efficiently since its launch, and there are no complaints about it, in addition to the fact that most service sites support it, which means it is enough to use this wallet to be able to benefit from many other services without the need to register account or identification. The second is Trust Wallet, which is the wallet of Binance, which supports its security. It is a closed source wallet but gives users the possibility to export the private keys of their addresses on the wallet.
As always, I advise you to do a little more research before choosing either.

You do not need to test it as it has been proven that this wallet is close source and is non-custodial. The only thing that it differs from MetaMask is its ability to support multiple cryptocurrencies. In the end it is better to avoid such wallet. We recently saw how Atomic Wallet got compromised and how wallets users suffered. It is better to follow the ground rules of choosing a wallet which has been advocated numerous times on this forum.
1572  Other / Meta / Re: Whats your take on adding 2FA key as a Bitcointalk account security features. on: August 12, 2023, 03:36:49 PM
I do not have any issues with 2FA getting added for account security. What I do think is that it should be a user's responsibility to secure his/her account. Adding another layer is only a pain for people who are aware on how to secure their accounts. Already the CAPTCHA on the login screen is pain when you are using a VPN or TOR browser to access the forum. I won't be happy if the forum imposes a strict rule for 2FA. I would be happy if they give an option to ignore it.
1573  Local / India / Re: why indians afraid to invest in crypto on: August 10, 2023, 09:21:30 AM
This is how middle class works and most of us might be able to relate to what I am going to write. The first thing they do is find a decent job and after that take life insurance. Some of them do take medical insurance apart from what the company is providing them. Then they start with SIP wherein they set a goal for every SIP, an example of a goal: a bike, a downpayment/full payment for a car, and a down payment for a house. When they reach middle age they are surrounded by EMI which barely gives them any space to think about other investment options.

At this age they have kids and they want their kids to have good education. The next set of SIPs is for their kid's higher studies, although in order to have higher education they would need an education loan. The SIPs only provide support for the education expenses of the kid. By the time they are free of all kinds of burden they retire and does not want their retirement amount to be invested in private bank or mutual funds. They would invest in schemes run by the government. How can you then ask them to invest in Bitcoin or cryptocurrencies? The trend is changing but it will take another decade for Indians to go neck deep into Bitcoin investment.

Agreed with your point as most of my friends including myself has done the same thing. But, like me there are others who have questioned the existing financial system and have joined the Bitcoin band wagon. There are others who by taking risk have made a good amount of money through trading. There are people in our country who have started investing in cryptocurrency and this number will increase gradually. The problem that the upcoming generation is facing is uncertainty. Only the government can give more clarity and when it happens we might see a good amount of Indians investing in Bitcoin or other crypto.

Indians do invest in cryptocurrency. Infact they are the biggest investor of meme coins as through meme coins and with some luck they can achieve financial freedom. They might not be interested in Bitcoin but they are preety crazy about shit coins. I do not know why OP assumed that they are not big investors.

Hey! Welcome to the forum.

For me nothing has changed. I am still waiting to be part of the financial revolution. I have also read inspiring stories and have joined this journey by being part of the forum. I still feel the same but it takes a lot of time to keep yourself updated.
1578  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: risk of centralization of bitcoin. on: August 03, 2023, 07:00:53 AM
Mining pools are composed of many miners and not an individual. If such an issue arises which I doubt miners can switch pools to save the network. I won't dismiss the risk but for more than a decade no one tried it and no one will be able to do it.
1579  Local / India / Re: Reincarnation of our community on: August 02, 2023, 05:37:19 AM
I really liked this word in your title Reincarnation. It is true from where we were some month back to where we are now looks promising. I don't think we need to do anything different at the moment. What we all are doing is good and we continue with it is important. Next year we have the halving event and in all probability we will see the next bull run. The traffic on our local board will return again.

If you want Bitcoin transactions to be faster than Ethereum then start using Lightning Network. Payment confirmation takes place in a few seconds. Recently Binance has also integrated the Lightning Network.
