2 units sold, One left.
1562  Economy / Computer hardware / [WTS] Bitmain S3 B7 UK (all sold) on: September 17, 2014, 04:59:44 AM
Hiya, I have 3 units I can sell.

These are batch 7 units and run great, ~440GHs @ 350W (info from bitmain site, I have not tested the power draw, Poolside is reporting said speed)

These have been set to DHCP auto - This means you will need to log on to your router to see the i.p. address, As it is set by the network.

I am looking for 0.7 a unit shipped in the UK (0.75 for EU members) - All shipping tracked/signed for

Please note, I have paid the import duties on these of £55 a unit, (about 0.17 per) So you can see I am not making on these after shipping.

I can add some pics on request, I have to visit where they are running.

I would rather deal directly, I will not send first unless I trust you, I will never back out of an escrow deal with a reputable member!!

Any questions?

Thanks for looking.
1563  Economy / Goods / Re: Prevention is better than a cure. Please escrow. on: September 17, 2014, 04:47:04 AM
In these times of Mass scammers out there, I urge people to use an escrow. There are many good members out there willing to help to secure the bitcoin community, There are also more people willing to do anything to scam you out of your coins, Please just do your research on someone before you part with your hard earned coins.

An escrow list

Note to mod, I know this is in the wrong section as I am not selling anything, I feel we all need to be wiser, People in the selling forums are less likely to look elsewhere for information on what this is and how it is acheved,
Even if a few people read this and use escrow, Or a few scammers don't get their coins, I will consider this a good job.
Please consider not moveing out the way, This needs to be addressed.

Liar, nothing is 100% safe. This thread is an example and proves that we will be fooled everyday!

Erm, Where did I say this was 100% safe? I will reiterate for you

Quote
Please just do your research on someone before you part with your hard earned coins

I urge people to use their heads.

I have the utmost respect for you, squall1066, in all matters bitcoin, but I think you should stick to that.

Please don't bother making an altcoin, unless you are doing it to prove to people once and for all that altcoins are pointless.

If you insist, I suggested a feature to the bitpopcoin thread, that they adopt Peter R's https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=563925.0, which might bring a new level of openness and clarity to the 'field'.

Hiya, Yes, I am doing it for a number of reasons, I believe alt coins do have a place in the crypto world, Provided they start out and are used in the right way.

My main point is to show everyone that a IPO is not worth doing, By placing a value on a coin before it is released is stupid IMO, Bitcoin for example started off worthless and built up steam, And to prove this I am putting my money where my mouth is.  Lips sealed

I do agree BTC is "the true path" My alt is to bring awareness of how an alt should be released and used, I hope to stand the test of time.

1565  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Bitcoin-qt Fatal exeption on: September 13, 2014, 04:33:32 PM
I know it's been a while but I have been testing my system, I have run the memtest for about 5 hours, got no errors, Ran a CPU burn in, Nothing.

I use Malwarebytes anti-malware, and I pay for the PRO version (all ways have) I run 2 full sweeps and got nothing.

Could not find any errors with HDD, I did not have any software with the drive, So I downloaded a few HDD tools from tucows ran them all and did not find anything, I used windows disk checker and defrag just in case, nothing.

Then in windows update (when you look in the list in recommended) It said new software has been found for my SATA controller on my mainboard? So I updated and tried that....Again nothing worked.

I use this system for gaming/vids/music I do not get any other problems, No crashes BSOD's errors or anything strange?

I have since set up a linux computer, loaded up core and it updated in hours no problems.

Something is wrong with my system but I cant find it, I have moved all my coin stuff of that one and moved it over, Bit of a pain but it's working.

Thanks anyway, I will try not to post again on this subject in another few months when I want to try and put it back on here, not being the defeatist  Grin Grin Grin

There has to be uniqueness and something to attract a following.

There is, I am not making any money from this.   Roll Eyes

Sorry, I could not help it

Any chance to reconsider the algo? How about a new POC coin? BURST is having a lot of success right now. It truly is a people's coin. Hardly any electricity is consumed so if people are into the global warming hype, it is an environmentally friendly coin.

I think that the second one out of the gate could offer up improvements to BURST. The improvements should be a more user-friendly way for noobs to get mining.

I will reconsider anything if it makes sense, I like the idea of an ECO coin, To be honest, I dont understand too much about POC.

Let me do some homework, I cant talk about something I know nothing about.   Lips sealed

I will chat this over with our team and get back to you.
1567  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Im getting free BTCs mined to my wallet - WTF??? on: September 10, 2014, 12:52:04 PM
I see posts like this from time to time, I was just wondering as a friend of mine noticed a few satoshi's going in, He thought it was free but I noticed his balance did not go up across all the addresses he had generated in that client, Can you confirm your actual total balance has gone up?

I was thinking it was to do with these "mixers" that are popping online, But even they cant just take coins out and replace them from a different source, It does not work like that.
1568  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Bitcoin-qt Fatal exeption on: September 10, 2014, 12:31:24 PM
Hiya, Right, I have just about had enough, I am not technical enough to know what to do, Here is my problem

If anyone notices I post I have problems with bitcoin-qt updating every few months, It seams to fix itself only to get worse down the line.

I will post whatever I can, first off, I am running win 7 (64-bit) I am using "bitcoin-0.9.2.1-win64-setup"

My problem, Well, I got to start from the start, It all happened from 0.8.4 when I went to 0.8.6, It would work, Then all of a sudden, It would not update, It would hold on a block, showing out of date with the amount of time that it had stopped by, A close&open would solve it,
Then I moved to "core" when it came out, It said Blockchain corrupted, And I had to rebuild, During which, It would stop (over 19 connections) and a close&open solved it for another few weeks of updating.

this was tedious and annoying but it did work, Now It just stopped on a block (using core 0.9.2) A close and open resulted in a Fatal exception, Did not give me an option to reload blockchain, just went to "windows is working on solving the problem" lol, Like that will happen.

Now I moved to core 0.9.2.1 (latest???) same problem, So I backup the wallet and delete EVERYTHING, I properly un-install the client, Deleting all the whole bitcoin folder in both windows locations and fired it up again.

It downloaded about 10K blocks and just stopped, I am on the same path as I was before, Is there anyone who knows anything I can try.

FYI - I built an identical system for a friend who is running core and got no problems, Same OS, So I am guessing there is something on my system that it does not like, I have made sure my router is open on port 8333 (I thought it would not work atall if it was closed but tried it anyway)

My system i3-2100 (1155) 16GB DDR3 1600 (tho running at 1333 with cpu) 480GB SSD HDD on SATA2, win7 64-bit, x270 GPU.

EDIT - let me explain "stopped" The client still shows "active connection" anywhere between 9 and 32 connections, It is still "running" according to windows task manager, and the green bar still flashes as it should when updating, And I wait at least a day each time before I do anything to make sure it has not updated any blocks, Thank you.

Additional, I have MWB (primium) and I have used different anti-virus like AVG, Avast, Right now I have Avant, It does not make a difference what I use, But worth mentioning as I don't know how it treats things like bitcoin.

1571  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Squall Coin (work in progress) NO IPO, Made for you! on: September 06, 2014, 03:33:25 AM
Thanks for the reply...
Great choice going with either of those artworks.

Please have a look at some examples of quick POW's out there.
One negative example I can think of is JUDGE.
 - Started off great and is pretty much close to dead now. Time will tell. (I hold some)

A few positive examples (POW/POS where POW is still running)
 - HBN
 - CAPS
 - TEK
 - Diamond
 - JPC!!
All still pretty much going strong staking & POW'ing along. (I hold some of those as well)

It just seems that while POW still runs that there is interest in a coin. If you go 100% POS after a while it seems to die down. (There are exceptions ofc)

Please don't get me wrong. I have a lot of interest in what you are trying to do an I will support either way. It just seems that the POW/POS combination (keeping POW running) makes a difference.

On your last comment first, Absolutely no problem, I really like idea bantering, you make a valid point of view and I will look into it more.
Whilst I understand alot of these alg's/PoS/PoW in principle, I'm not 100% on the writing of such work, My Dev on this side however says he is aware of many PoW problems and this one will be written strongly on the x11, There will also be no worry of KGW or other PoS bug Grin
1572  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Squall Coin (work in progress) NO IPO, Made for you! on: September 05, 2014, 01:20:42 PM
I have a slight concern regarding the number of coins/block reward.

At this rate the POW mining should last a little over 21 days and after that I understand it would be full POS.
This is a bit too close to P&D strategy and I'm sure others might feel this way too.

I'm not sure what the proper solution to this would be but maybe lower the block rewards to 20? which will give you at least 100 days of POW.

Just my 2SQC....

PS. Artwork related -> first submission by logocreator and last submission by hardroad both look gr8.

Decided on the latter, I have updated OP, Prize it waiting for hardroad!

Regarding the POW, The numbers was close, But we was not sure if a reduction was going to happen, So I thought if not, Why not just try and keep the 100 all the way through? I do hear you though, What about if we start off at 25 and have a rise to 50/75/100 respectively every 100K blocks?

This one nabbed it, Nice work, PM'ing now

I think stable award is better when decrease.
The main thing is to support the developer and rapid implementation of the plans.

Any figures you would like to suggest?

Getting close to a launch date? Definitely following this.

Getting there I promise  Cool Only an hour and 30 odd min till the artwork comp is over, If anyone wants to vote for one, please post there - The thread link is in OP, Thanks

Announcing the winner in 1hour 40 min (12 o'clock UK time) Any last min thoughts or entries

500k total amount or "Block reward - 500K"?  Huh

Yes, My bad! LOL

I have updated OP to reflect:-

Total coinage is 500K block reward is 100 coins, I now would like feedback on wether to have a block reduction? or start higher? Or even lower and have MORE coins as time goes on?

@ squall1066

Would you be interested in helping me revamp Colossuscoin? At my disposal I have access to forums with resources and guides, test forums, marketing strategies, links to exchanges, compiling in Linux and Windows, transaction tools, nodes and seednodes, a working test coin, virtual GUI desktops in the cloud and can use Github.

I need help in putting the Blockchain and Wallet together as well as other people to help manage funds for development, contact me if you are interested I have some pretty cool stuff I can show you.

With the greatest respect, I am souly working on my coin ATM, I really have no time with work and real life stuff going on.

Maybe limit hashrate like MINERALS ?
Coins amount ... not so big ... 100K or 1M ?
Block time ... 2 min ?

I did consider limiting hashrate, I'm not sure, As I do think it will lock out people down the line who want in, Anyone else want to share a view?

What about 500K

2 and a half min block time?

My opinion is to ditch limitation, you will ruin coin and won't get enough support!
Regarding coin number, i am more for 1 mil and 150 sec block time - You want stable coin and not to slow so my opinion is that 150sec is good. Then again, i am not some kick ass coder to know what is the best.

EDIT: If you are going to do POW/POS do at least 15 days of mining, anything shorter will be raped with big farms and rentals so distribution won't be good.

I agree against limitation, And so do others I chat too.

If it's PoW/PoS I don't even want to do a premine, I want everyone on it from day one, I am worried about people farming it, But I still think thats better than the alternative, It will be chaos at first, But I think it will be worth it.

Look fine, even if it will 1 Million, there is nothing wrong in it.
Block time is looks perfect.

Anyone else want to jump in with some figures, I think too many with too short a block time creates havoc on the network in the later days, I am thinking of the long haul, Plus this would feel like flooding everyone with coins, If it's a little rarer, It might be more sought after?

The art work comp finishes on Friday, I (hopefully) will be releasing this coin into the wild a week or so after, I still really need lots of input as to stats, I'm open and willing to listen to YOUR needs  Grin

If anyone like a particular look of art on the other thread, Feel free to post there, It's your baby as much as it's mine.

Last note - If anyone has spare sig space to donate, Please link here, We are nearly there! But we need as many people to know as possible, Lets see if we can save someone some IPO money  Roll Eyes Thanks to everyone making YOUR coin possible.

Thanks there are some nice ones on there!

I have set an end date of Friday, 5th midday, UK time (GMT) as We need to keep this moving.

I'm trying not to poo-poo other coins or hype this one too much, But I really have a lot of steam behind this now, There are alot of crap coins out there, I really feel this is going to end alot of them, As this coin is not going to have a "majority shareholder"

Knowledge is power people, Thanks for the support.

Still would like some votes on coin amount and block times?
