15621  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Europa League/Champions League Lounge on: May 02, 2018, 06:16:45 PM
Real Madrid will play their 4th Champions League final in the last 5 years, if Liverpool reaches the final, they'll play their first CL final in over 10 years...I think there's clear a favorite.
Exactly. Liverpool's front 3 have carried them to lofty height in Europe but there's no doubt they're the underdogs, and have always been except probably against Roma where bookies only gave them a slight advantage. But that has always suited Liverpool and seems to fire them and their fans up more.

Anyways, Roma vs Liverpool today, I'm going with over 3.5 goals @2.10 and Liverpool win @2.45.

I just went with a simple win, seems like the odds actually got slightly worse in over 24 hours, but still happy if I win this @2.42. There's almost a guarantee for goals in this game but the odds for over 3.5 are something I rarely go for, especially if only at just a slight doubler. Roma have to score though, so that opens the door for Liverpool to pour forward, which they're good at. As long as Milner is at his best at energetic interceptions, our forwards can feed on the opportunities. Expect lots of cards though... but as long as no one is suspended for the final.
15622  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Wiring vs. transfering on: May 02, 2018, 08:47:39 AM
It also varies from bank to bank, international wires that use swift tend to be quicker with "partner" banks or even within the same bank branch (if the exchange uses hsbc for example, then you'll definitely get it quicker if your bank is also hsbc).

Same I have found for SEPA in Europe. Some banks transfer and have it all received in hours, others take up to 3 business days, mostly dependent on both the sender and receiver banks. End of the day, all these transfers are manually approved.
15623  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Europa League/Champions League Lounge on: May 01, 2018, 09:30:41 PM
Bayern was a slightly better team over the two games but they failed to convert some big chances and Real is once again in CL final. Don't remember last time some team conceded like bayern did with the second goal, especially at the highest level of competition like CL semi final. The keeper should just used his hands and award Real with indirect free hit. Don't know what he was thinking there.

I haven't watched Bayern play much this season and I must say I was heavily impressed by Ribery performance in this 2 games. He was dangerous almost every time he got the ball on the left flank. I thought he would lose some of his speed and drbblings with the age, he is 35 I believe, but he still passes the eye test.

Is Ribery that old already? Got to admit I don't watch Bundesliga very much but if he ran the way he did tonight while still dribbling effectively, then he's a monster of a veteran.

Anyway, lost my bet as I thought the German team would progress to the final. That second Real goal was classic demonstration of why good keepers need to think instinctively. The backpass was to blame of course, but like you said, that sort of threat on goal deserves the risk of the foul for using hands and the indirect free hit. Still, they almost pulled it off with several late chances but Real aren't CL royalty for nothing. On to Rome now.
15624  Economy / Speculation / Re: The whole TETHER thing still on the agenda for a BTC collapse on: May 01, 2018, 07:49:23 PM
Tether is oneof the topics you'll see cycling every now and then to help explain Bitcoin's rise or fall, depending on the agenda. Personally, I think it's undeniably shady and would never hold any of it. I actually never even sell any crypto for usdt, always in BTC. But to say it's going to decide BTC's fate is ridiculous. If localbitcoin local currency in say, Zim dollar, crashed, would that bring BTC down?

Maybe I miss a lot of the theory behind how Tether influenced Bitcoin but the fact that they're creating more and price is up seems to put that theory dead in the water.
15625  Economy / Speculation / Re: Price Prediction on: May 01, 2018, 03:37:31 PM
Market are reflecting that there should be an increase in the price. What your prediction ?

The market reflects consolidation, nothing more. It's impossible to expect a further increase without there being an actual bullish indicator in form of a happening or event. It's pointless for the market to even attempt to test $10,000 currently, so it's better for everyone that it doesn't. Right now it's either 50% chance to go up, or 50% chance to go down. It's practically impossible to say anything other than that, because the only thing we can do is guess.

Don't forget that consolidation is always better than a decreasing price, so people shouldn't get bored or annoyed when the price isn't going up. Be happy with the relative stability and try to utilize it by using Bitcoin as currency, because that's what you guys want right? Once there is volatility people complain about Bitcoin not being a proper currency, well, here is your stability, capitalize on it.

Yeah, give them a stable coin and they want it to keep going up, without wanting to pay the price of corrections and swings when things don't go their way. I for one think that any dip is good news short and medium term, any consolidation (as it appears to be right now) is good news long term. If anything, a return past 10k and beyond so soon is going to further chip away at my own personal targets since I'd really like for Bitcoin to stay within a solid range for a year before reclaiming the "lost ground" of Q1 2018.

Can't please everyone, damned if price spirals, damned if it doesn't.
15626  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Europa League/Champions League Lounge on: May 01, 2018, 12:21:56 PM
Carvajal didn't manage to recover to the game and even will be out of the bench today. As Boateng is also injured, BTTS seems highly probable, however, 1.4 is too small to my mind. If it reaches at least 1.5 before the game, I'm going to bet it.

As for the result, I will support Bayern. I'm not a fan or a hater of both teams, but I want to see Klopp vs Heynckes again. For the last time(

I was thinking exactly the same thing with the odds, so I find that a money line bet on Real Madrid makes more sense @2.4. However, my bet tonight is on an upset. Bayern came close too many times last week not to find the net again (and Real didn't exactly play that well too) so I'm backing Lewandowski for one goal at least to keep the tie firmly alive, before at least taking it to extra time and possibly penalties - in which case the Germans are better.

My pick for tonight is for Bayern to advance @3.72, well worth the bet in my mind.
15627  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: We as a community must boycott Coinmarketcap.com on: May 01, 2018, 12:09:15 PM
If you are not satisfied with one exchange or any site, then you might just need to look for another, since it's there site not ours we only use theirs, so it is like a bus, if you don't want the bus no. 1-5 then wait for 6-10 if this meet your satisfactory,, or create your own!! Shocked Shocked Shocked Just kidding, look for another sites and don't use their service, that's all. Easy Life.

Amen to that. I mean, look, I'm probably just as displeased to find out things like that - but you'd have to be naive to think that everyone out there in the Bitcoin (and crypto) market has an altruistic spirit. At the end of the day, profits are their objective and they'll do whatever they need to cross that line. It's like Facebook and all that crap, I can understand the outrage when people found out but what did they think FB was doing with their data? And what do you think CMC gets from providing all that information?

There's no need to boycott anything. Find something else you like, and use it. That's how it was with Bitcoin too.
15628  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Bitcointalk English Premier League pool betting Discussion Thread on: May 01, 2018, 08:10:41 AM
Hoping ciccio forgot to put his Spurs vs Watford prediction in Grin

He won't have been the only one! I was sure I entered every game, but just checked and saw I forgot this one. Not that even 40 points would have made a difference, I ended the week with a miserable 10 points, can't even be bothered to check which game outcome I got right. Backed a lot of upsets and will continue to do the same, as it's the only hope I have for a sniff at #5. Counting on some teams to either "give up" or "take it easy". Seems like Liverpool are the only one in the top 4 to do that though haha. Oh well, some Rome fun tonight.

Well done to all!
15629  Economy / Speculation / Re: 82% of Institutional Crypto Investors Believe Bitcoin Price Has Bottomed on: April 30, 2018, 08:08:55 PM
Doesn't really matter what 82% or 100% of them think, price will move in the direction it wants, what they think is generally influenced by what sentiment is already moving the market and they can change their minds quickly.

It's going to be difficult to ignore that buying pressure now, though. I can almost hear the screams to buy already emanating from every inch of crypto sphere. That BTC has been holding on to post 9k makes an even stronger case for bull buildup. Looks like May is all prepped to repeat last year's ascent.
15630  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [30-04-2018]Monetary Authority of Singapore, Sopnendu Mohanty Advised The Public on: April 30, 2018, 07:27:17 PM
He's right on price stability. It's one of the reasons why lots of people are too scared to use bitcoin. I do hope the rapid volatility is temporary though. I mean bitcoin isnt popular because its volatile and it's volatile because of the low technology adoption. Hopefully something gives one day allowing for much stabler prices.

Actually, Bitcoin has proven to be extremely popular because of its volatility. It's the merchants who aren't truly ready to abandon legacy fiat who've been slow to adopt Bitcoin (and "accepting" it via 3rd party payment processors instead) because of this volatility. Low technology adoption? Not sure which Bitcoin you've been using but the one I have has upgraded many times and has significant technological updates since I started properly using it in mid-2016.

You want stable? There's the scandal-strapped Tether for you.
15631  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Italian League Prediction Thread (Serie A) on: April 30, 2018, 02:48:30 PM
Must be tough being a Napoli fan, from absolute joy and euphoria thanks to the victory last weekend, to dissapoinment and sadness this weekend...
Juventus still has to play vs Roma (probably the toughest match) but even if they lose that match, they'll still have a 1 point lead, I think the fight for the scudetto is over, Napoli put up a good fight, though...their fans should be proud.

And good victory for Lazio against Torino, they're now 4 points above Inter (5th in the league table),

Yeah, add me to that devastated crowd. I honestly thought it was all finally coming together after that last-gasp goal against Juventus, didn't watch any of the weekend matches but read the news... Juve claiming 3 points when it all looked over, and then Napoli just killed themselves with that unexpected loss (and unexpected margin!).

This looks like the season where underdogs threatened but the royalty eventually claimed the title, not just in Italy but in Europe. Still, to see Napoli and Roma, who both play fluid football, doing so well, these are hopeful signs that the Serie A can strike the old fear into opponents as they used to.
15632  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Visual Novel Android game purchase bitcoin on: April 30, 2018, 07:36:44 AM
Would this be the same on games like house party with animated theme? or like simulacra with real life scenes?

IMO you'll find it hard to beat visual novel games available on steam.
You should consider that bitcoin have a transaction fee (compare to steam, often one time payment) and I'd think it will be a great deal for users specially when they need to pay chapter by chapter or scene by scene.

I think so too, the existing visual novels (I'm assuming graphic novel games are the same thing) will be hard to beat in terms of production quality, these guys have really high production values in their products, but I personally feel you could still beat them in terms of original content.

Yeah, I know, it almost goes without saying, but I think there's still a lot of room to explore in diverse storylines (culturally and geographically) that readers haven't had the chance to glimpse in popular titles. Writing styles are also still pretty much North American, or with Japanese/Korean influence. I bet you'd find a huge market in Latin America, for example.
15633  Economy / Marketplace / Re: BitcoinTalkShow on: April 29, 2018, 08:29:34 PM
Before we get all excited, other than your connections with networks, do you have any solid ideas about the actual products you're looking at? Any experience producing or are you only a partner? Am asking because am exploring media diversification for a project I'm working on. We haven't done anything remotely broadcast related but have toyed with the idea.

PM you?
15634  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How do whales mainpulate the market? on: April 28, 2018, 08:36:46 PM
I often see the word 'manipulation' in cryptocurrency world. I only have general sense of that, but I have some questions about it. How exactly do these whales do this? Is there a way to spot it? And is there any chance these whales lose money?
We are not whales, so assume this to be our imagination. They have enough money to accumulate as much as they can during a deep correction and from then on, they try as much as possible to instigate some potential market trying to move up and in that case, you start seeing traders and some few people who do not even have any knowledge of trading trying to get in, gradually, however they want the price to move, they give the signs and then they profit a lot from that whereas they recycle it until they keep getting more and more.

Think I somewhat agree with this. Just like all our presumptions about big banks, Wall Street traders, institutional whales... we all think we know how and what they do, but we'll never really know. I wonder sometimes that if we were on the nail, wouldn't others be able to gang up and act like whales, and therefore, nullify their strategies? I've read a few posts about so-called Spoofy too and I buy quite a bit of the logic behind it, but I think the whales are far removed from these discussions and probably work in ways far more complex than what we're able to discern.

But cycling of profits makes a lot of sense. I think we see it in Bitcoin also - whales just doubling, tripling, cycling profits.
15635  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Relation or correlation between Bitcoin and alts? on: April 28, 2018, 08:14:58 PM
I'll keep it short. There are, at least to me, two prevailing patterns. Altcoins in general, across the board move in tandem with Bitcoin's fortunes. It's no coincidence that 2017 saw the crypto "boom", all this fueled by Bitcoin's rising prominence. Also no coincidence that alt all time highs coincided in the same period that Bitcoin did.

There are also periods where alts do well while Bitcoin moves sideways, but this is only the alts recovering or gaining back ground while Bitcoin consolidates. This is only after they wither during Bitcoin's downturn. When BTC falls, alts fall harder. When BTC recovers, alts recover quicker.
15636  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Please comment on this thread about posting in the Bitcoin Talk forum on: April 28, 2018, 07:42:59 PM
I don't think it's a bad idea at all... any sort of effort aiming to help newbies gain some ground, especially in forums like bct where it can be daunting for the new (still daunting for me even after a year and a half in the technical sections!), but I'm not sure if it isn't a lost cause. Maybe I'm overestimating people but those willing to learn and honest about trying to contribute make the effort to find out what's acceptable and what's not.

I also don't know if there should really be a guide to what's good and what makes for good reputation. Part of the appeal of this forum is the diversity of people. I enjoy some of the trolls, some of the less serious banter, but also some of the "techno nazis". If we all followed some kind of guideline, it might kill that diversity, no? You said it in the post yourself: your identity, your personality, your motivation. That's really precious for the community. I think that should be allowed to grow and develop organically.
15637  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread (EPL) on: April 28, 2018, 01:59:26 PM
Oh goddamns it. Took a long parlay today and the first leg already failed (needed Liverpool to win at a -1.5 handicap) so I've lost the day without the rest of the games even starting. Suppose they've got all their eyes on the follow up in Rome for CL but their 2nd place bid looks really week now. All depends on how Spurs perform I suppose. Two points from 2 games. Oh well.

@Lionidas: I did feel like Stoke finally found a way to close up Salah, but then others have tried the same without success. He seems to be one of those players everyone knows how they play and yet can't stop. Pool had Suarez in that same mould, Bayern has their Robben also exactly the same.

15638  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-04-27] Paypal’s Former CEO Says Bitcoin Investors Are ‘Drinking the Kool-A on: April 28, 2018, 08:22:24 AM
Guys like these are actually just so pissed that they stayed on drinking the kool-aid, while others sobred up, opened their eyes, and moved away to their own digital money. Others have softened their stance, others have completed 180 degree turns. Over the past years, we've seen bears "convert" to Bitcoin, but it's difficult to concede/admit you were wrong, especially on something so fundamental as Bitcoin vs traditional money. So he continues to down his kool-aid, pretending the bitter taste is all he needs.

I didn't read the whole thing but if the headline is accurate then this is no small victory for the two exchanges. It's really been only a week or so since their accounts were shut down, and made perfect legal sense for them to appeal, there was no legal grounds for the central bank to act as it did.

Maybe this will result in tighter controls for future exchanges but that's actually still good news all round.
15640  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Europa League/Champions League Lounge on: April 27, 2018, 09:36:05 AM
Jan Oblak was fantastic for Atletico yesterday. What a great display of goalkeeping from him. Arsenal could have won the match but Oblak denied quite some shots. I think Wenger knows very well that Arsenal will have a really hard time in Spain and will most likely not go to the final.

Always, always hard to say. I think the sending offs were another example of poor refereeing I've seen this season's edition of CL and Europa, and that forced Athleti to work really hard - that draw and away goal were massive results but could work either way for/against them. If they maintain that psychological edge and match it with energy, then the final is very much theirs. But Arsenal are typically the type of team that shows up one side and disappears the next. This time they were anonymous in the first leg, so I'm thinking they'll turn up for the return leg.

I suspect the bookie odds on them to progress will only go up so I'll wait a week before putting my bets on them. Should be really tasty odds.
