Did anyone get what's going on here or am I just stupid?

Or ofcourse a little of both?

Buddy is running a little ponzi scheme.   Undecided

For every $20 you "invest" in him, he will pay you 15 cents per day.
15682  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: What would cause my wallet to lose it's password? on: September 10, 2014, 10:25:42 AM
You know what, it's possible I removed the encryption in the past and just forgot.  I haven't sent coins since the middle of August.

I can't see how a file could suddenly decrypt itself.   Undecided

Thanks for your help, Shorena.
15683  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: What would cause my wallet to lose it's password? on: September 10, 2014, 10:17:09 AM
Just so I understand what happened:

You had walletA (encrypted) on computer A and copied that with the blockchain and all other data on computer B.
Now you have an exact copy of walletA on computer B, but its not encrypted?

Are you sure its the same wallet? Maybe bitcoin core made a new wallet. Are the addresses the same, does your TX history still show? Are the notes to the addresses still there?

Yes.  I basically copied the folder on the C: drive over to the B: drive.  Ran bitcoin core from the B: drive and it had to rebuild the blockchain.

It's the same wallet.  All my TX history, Receiving addresses, Sending addresses....

Suddenly my wallet was no longer encrypted!

Something inanimate will never come to life.

You'll watch it on TV within the next 10 years.

Science is going to allow us to do things your gods never could.  7 days to create a world?
Within the next century, we will be doing it in 7 minutes:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tsr-XtuKuSw

Off Topic : Do you know what does it mean by "delete selected" at the bottom-left of the thread? Huh

  ~~MZ~~

I think it allows you to delete more than one message at a time.
15686  Other / Off-topic / Re: Man Dives into an Exploding Volcano on: September 10, 2014, 09:35:27 AM
Oh come on the whole volcano was CGI.  Everybody knows volcanos don't exist on Earth because of the aliens.

(I'm filling in for Dank).

LOL.

With the initial scenes of dancing tribespeople, I thought it would be a ritual sacrifice type event.  Still, nice images!

Too long - didn't read.  And neither will Amazon.   Undecided

Keep your initial complaint letter short and summarize.  All the details can come out later.

15689  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: What would cause my wallet to lose it's password? on: September 10, 2014, 09:03:56 AM
Remember to copy the whole blockchain data including bitcoin.dat

I actually copied the entire directory over.
15690  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / What would cause my wallet to lose it's password? on: September 10, 2014, 08:48:56 AM
I'm using the standard Bitcoin Core 0.9.2.1.

I had a strong password on there.  Then I decided to move Bitcoin off my SSD onto my Drobo.  I couldn't get it to work so I ended up downloading the entire blockchain, with my original wallet.dat

After the blockchain was up to date, I went to check my password and there was no password set!

How could this have happened?
15691  Other / Off-topic / Re: iPhone 6 is here! on: September 10, 2014, 03:11:09 AM
The day is finally here - September 9 2014. We're mere minutes away from Apple's hotly anticipated iPhone 6 launch, an event which is being billed as the firm's most important announcement since the original iPhone.I cannot wait to have it!

They say this about every iPhone launch.  Meh
15692  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Concerned try to scam me :( on: September 10, 2014, 02:54:59 AM
This user Concerned tried to force me to use no escrow  why he do this ?!???!??!

He probably wanted to steal your bitcoins.   Undecided
15693  Other / Meta / Re: What's the target for reported posts to become moderator? on: September 09, 2014, 06:43:31 AM
I don't know why anyone would want to be a moderator. It's a horrible thankless* job where you get bitched at constantly for doing the right thing, harassed by trolls when you try to rein them in, people judging you constantly who don't even have the information they need to make a proper judgement, and giving them said information would compromise someone's privacy. Privacy wins, so you have to shut up and be perceived as the bad guy.

*Not entirely thankless anymore, theymos does help us out with the mod payments, though TBH that's not really enough sometimes.

Thank you Badbear! We appreciate your work around here.  Smiley
15694  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: It's about time to turn off PoW mining on: September 08, 2014, 12:00:35 AM
Conclusions (based directly on the above assumptions, so take it with a grain of salt):
- The value of one Bitcoin will eventually reach $350,000.

So a cost of $35 per transaction.   Shocked

What spells the end for bitcoin?

Attacks on the power system.
15697  Economy / Lending / Re: Am about to go homeless, could use some help on: September 07, 2014, 10:00:22 PM
What happened to this nonsense Dank? The end of 2014 is drawing nearer.

Let me disclaim, to be fair: if this doesn't manifest into reality by 2013, 2012 is nothing, concert doesn't happen, I will get a job and pay my dues.

There you go... By Dank's own words, he should have quit the pipe-dreaming
and got a job LAST year.   So why isn't he?

His words mean nothing.

Keep in mind these guys are very busy.  Make your PM short, to the point, and include all relevant information.
15699  Other / Off-topic / Re: First successful telephathy message was sent from France to India on: September 07, 2014, 01:02:51 AM
Thats plain nuts. I don't believe this just yet, i'll need to research more into it as to what they are talking about with telephathy. The important question is: How does one percieve such message? Like, how do you know youve recieved a mental message from another person or its just your own brain?

You have to read the article.   Wink

It's nothing ground-breaking.  You have two separate technologies that communicate via the internet (in this case email lol).  Reading minds and manipulating the brain.
