You want a realistic and non-bullshit answer?

Work hard enough for you to have enough money to purchase BTC0.1

It really depends where you're from. Some countries have their own local exchanges which can make it a lot easier to purchase/sell.

Some alternatives to coinbase: Gemini.com, Localbitcoins.com, Kraken.com

Lets say I use gdax fore example. Is it best to deposit money into gdax and then purchase bitcoin, or should I make a direct bitcoin purchase from my bank account. Is one faster than the other?

I'm not 100% sure as Coinbase doesn't allow purchases from my country, but I think bank payments on Coinbase is the way to go. But personally I'd go with localbitcoins.com and look for a local seller, as I personally prefer paying in cash. To prevent possible bank/government-related shenanigans.

15705  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How do I tell apart scam from genuine posts? on: February 01, 2018, 04:11:40 PM
Another member of the forum has suggested that there are certain things I need to avoid when subscribing to YouTube channels about cryptocurrencies. It appears that there are channels of ill-intended people in YouTube who try to get advantage of viewers looking to learn more about this topic.

Are there any safe sources of information or channels in YouTube that you could recommend?

On youtubers, basically, don't follow those that tell you to invest in certain sites and or investment schemes.

Here are some good ones in my opinion(in no particular order):

Universal rule: Don't automatically believe what people are saying on the internet. Always do your own research and confirm the facts first; be thankful that we have Google for this, as it makes fact-checking a lot lot easier.
15707  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Make-believe toy money (Bitcoin) is coming to an end on: February 01, 2018, 03:06:44 PM
We're still at $9,000+, sure, we dropped from $20k; but it is still a huge increase since october last year($5000). I don't see bitcoin even being close to the "end". In my opinion bitcoin is actually a lot better now: fees are a lot lower due to the blockchain not being too congested anymore(from 200k unconfirmed transactions to today's 41k[1]); segwit adoption increasing[2]; and lightning network[3] coming alot sooner than I've expected.

Also, what are you doing here in bitcointalk if all you do is spread unnecessary negativity anyway?

15708  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin Theft stories to make your toes curl! on: February 01, 2018, 11:35:35 AM
It's really unbelievable how careless can some people be. I've been a member of a few crypto/bitcoin groups on Facebook and I've seen a lot of posts on people complaining because they lost their bitcoin. Sometimes even worth half a million dollars. How? One dude saved his recovery seed on an unencrypted .txt file on his desktop and his computer somewhat got compromised. *sigh*

Cool site by the way.
15709  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Do you know this about the new Merit System? on: February 01, 2018, 11:22:30 AM
Begging for merits should be illegal here in my opinion. It defeats the purpose on why the merit system was implemented in the first place.

You just can simply go to Profile > Merit to view how many Merits and sMerits you have.
15710  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: new topics on: February 01, 2018, 04:46:09 AM
??

Dude you just did. You're free to post topics as long as you just don't do it too frequently, and make sure your topic posts actually makes sense.
15711  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What are fee's like now? on: January 31, 2018, 04:26:40 PM
It depends on what exchange you're going to use. I highly doubt the exchange fee is going to be as high as 99%. Or if you're talking about bitcoin's current transaction fee, you can transact fine with sub $1 fees. Depending on how urgent you want the transaction to be confirmed.

Ok, another question if you may answer?

Where can I trade BTC to visa egift card?

I was thinking of using poloniex.

Unfortunately I really don't know as I don't personally buy gift cards. A quick Google search says that you can buy Visa gift cards on Paxful[1] and on eGifter[2], though I really can't comment if they're the best places to buy as like I said I really don't purchase gift cards. Try at your own risk.

15713  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How to protect bitcoins, cryptocurrencies from hackers? on: January 31, 2018, 04:20:35 AM
Easy and quick answer:

buy a hardware wallet(Ledger Nano S[1], or a Trezor[2]); and keep your recovery seeds non-digital, like on a piece of paper, or on a CryptoSteel[3].

It's either the topic you replied to got deleted for some reason(probably due to the post being nonesense/redundant), or your reply itself got deleted. You can easily prevent the latter by simply only replying with replies that actually contribute to the topic.

Also, 30 postcount =/= 30 activity. You can only gain a maximum of 1 activity a day.

You can never go wrong with any material by Andreas Antonopoulos. He has a few books (Internet of Money[1], Mastering Bitcoin[2], Mastering Ethereum[3]), and also a YouTube channel[4] filled with great content from his seminars/events. Check them out!

15716  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Your Go To Crypto News Site on: January 31, 2018, 02:11:53 AM
https://reddit.com/r/cryptocurrency

Not exactly a news site, but a sort of community forum just like bitcointalk, but for cryptocurrencies in general. News from various crypto news sites are posted there by the members hence I don't need to go to individual crypto news sites, I can just go to reddit and view a compilation of new news. Also, members can communicate and talk about certain news, which is great in my opinion.
15717  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Would you trust a brand new computer for creating a paper wallet? on: January 31, 2018, 01:53:06 AM
It really doesn't matter if the computer is new or old in my opinion. What matters for me is that I make sure that I'm the one who actually installed the software; more preferably a Linux operating system due to it being open source.
15718  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: I BOUGHT INS AT $20 AND ITS $3.5 on: January 30, 2018, 03:52:15 PM
Just so you know:

Before entering the cryptocurrency markets, you need to get used to HUGE price swings like this. Especially with coins that aren't in the top 30-50 via coinmarketcap[1]. I really can't comment on INS as I really don't know what it does; so let me ask you, did you actually buy that coin because you think it will prosper? Or did you just buy it because your friend told you so? If it's the former, then hold. If it's the latter, then please tell your friend he/she's a cuck.

15719  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: I was hacked with the Fake Binance on: January 30, 2018, 03:22:44 PM
Are you sure the fake link you provided is a phishing link? I opened it on a VM and it just redirects me to the real binance, but with a referral link.

302 redirect brought me to binance.com/?ref=40581024

I checked your post history. My opinion is that you definitely need to improve a lot in your english grammar. To be honest, my english isn't perfect, but I think it's passable. Take note that you're applying as a Jr member. I'm pretty sure there are lots of Jr members applying so you really need to stand out and beat the others in every category.

Best of luck.
