Confirmation. They see the writing on the wall, and predictably are trying to adapt/compensate.

1585  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Good Ati Card for mining and gaming under $200? on: July 06, 2011, 10:13:22 PM

You've shown that 2 $130 cards are better than a single $190 card...

Is this going somewhere?

Thought it was atleast loosly following this, the thread topic.......  Good Ati Card for mining and gaming under $200?

Its a no-brainer.

Radeon 6870: 300+ megahash and good gaming performance.
Radeon 5830 Crossfire: 600+ megahash & Better Gaming performance.

2x 5830 is a bit more than $200, but the other requirements are met and then some.

1587  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Nigeria may be forced to adopt bitcoin on: July 06, 2011, 09:11:16 PM
Please note not all nigerians are criminals. Some people from Nigeria are, that's true for any country or social group.

There is a related essay in http://www.gnu.org/philosophy/my_doom.html.

I have 2nd hand knowledge about life in Nigeria. Its full of scammers, thieves, and corruption. You can't drive 30 miles without running into a roadblock manned by thugs, government or otherwise, who will let you live if you pay the toll. Heaven help you if you actually need something from the government. They will delay delay delay until you flash some American dollar.

That said, bitcoin in Africa? Not bloody likely. They are lucky when the power stays on long enough to cook supper.

I think a lot of the more hardcore nuts to have anti-government theories regarding Bitcoin ......

You really need to refine what you call "anti-government". Are such "nuts" really opposed to government in all its facets?

True anarchists are uncommon.

Yes, go to the designated free speech zone, citizen.

Update: Performance Screenshots on OP.

Attention: Gamers -

5830 in crossfire will outperform crush a 5870 in most games.

This setup cannot be beat, dollar for dollar.

Politics don't matter to bitcoin.

Bitcoin don't give a shit.
1592  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Good Ati Card for mining and gaming under $200? on: July 06, 2011, 03:57:24 PM
5830 in crossfire is still a very solid solution.

Not even overclocked in that benchmark.
There are lots for sale in this thread:

You will be better off with a couple dozen well-placed high-CFM Delta fans.

That's what I did with my 16-card rigs.

*YAWN* . This little germ-bag is MUCH slower. I expect he'll find a block for me before I am 90. I plan to add more miners soon. I run a daycare. Is this going to get me in trouble? Please respond!

1595  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Shout Out To AnonX For The 37.5 BTC Fo' FREE on: July 06, 2011, 02:39:50 AM
1) Dude runs his mouth too much.

2) Dude doesn't understand that real people exist behind these screennames.

Indeed.

Someone else asked if his information had been passed onto law enforcement. But I have a better question:

Has anyone given his address to thugs in his area, and told them that he claims 700oz of gold, 1000oz of silver etc are in the house?

Yup, that's the "higher standard of morality" all right. People are funny.
1596  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Shout Out To AnonX For The 37.5 BTC Fo' FREE on: July 06, 2011, 01:44:35 AM
sure does warm my heart to see people in other threads who talk about property rights like they were given to humans by god himself openly asking for stolen bitcoins.

and a global moderator asking for them as well.

stay classy bitcoin.

In my defense, I thought Foodstamp had scammed other scammers to get his coins back. So I played along. As soon as AnonX explained himself, I passed the token right back.

Wonderful lesson in the ease of bitcoin transactions, and human nature!

1598  Other / Off-topic / Re: Stevia and Bitcoin, the two most controversial topics. Which is the 3rd ? on: July 05, 2011, 10:00:06 PM
Big Pharma lobbies to keep Stevia surpressed because it is natural, healthy, and sweet.  No real controversy here, just greed.

How is that not a controversy?
1599  Economy / Economics / Re: Why bitcoins are dropping, and will continue to do so on: July 05, 2011, 08:35:22 PM

My bank account is insured by the Us government if my bank fails.

My bank reimburses me for fraud.

Heck I even get rebates for using my card to buy things.

If someone rips me off I can charge it back.

What do all these services have in common?

You have to pay into the system (and pay dearly i might add) to have these privileges Its not a freebie.

1600  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: As Predicted on: July 05, 2011, 07:54:00 PM
To them, the failure of Bitcoin is more than just a lost investment - its a powerful blow to their belief system.

A little premature, aren't we?
