Buying 60,000 XRP for 1 BTC or 30,000 for 0.5 BTC

Before you buy XRP, remember at the price of 60,000 XRP to 1 BTC the value of the premined XRP stands at 1,666,666 Bitcoins.

At this rate the creators of ripple have created over a million Bitcoins worth of value. That puts in perspective how little 60,000 XRP is.

People dealing in XRP should know 100 Billion exist with the vast majority in the hands of a small amount of people.

Which is consistent, because there is much more than 1 million of btc in the world.

Huh.
DannyHamilton are you seriously believing that bitcoin is flawless and will last as long as the sun?
1587  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: what happens if all bitcoins are mined on: April 14, 2013, 01:51:51 PM
ok now you are making me curious, what reasons the Bitcoin system will die for?

Endless discussion.
Just wait, you'll see by yourself.

Ok, there will always be fees, but is there a benchmark that tells me how big the fee should be in order to get the transaction process properly fast?
People usually believes that in the future the value of bitcoin will increase, and the fee will decrease because you will send smaller amounts.
But as for now, 0.01 btc (1 usd) is somewhat what you should pay.
1588  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: So why is gox doing that? on: April 14, 2013, 01:45:26 PM
What's wrong with that?

All brokers are giving tips/advices and forecasts for possible evolution of prices on every markets. Why would it be different here?

1591  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: what happens if all bitcoins are mined on: April 14, 2013, 01:36:31 PM
Hi , probably this topic has already been discussed somewhere in this forum but I was a bit lazy to search it.

I still do not fully grasp the concept of Bitcoin. The miners do the job of calculating the the hash codes and are rewarded with bitcoins. So what happens after all the BTC have been mined? There will be no incentive for anyone to mine anymore, which in turn means that the Bitcoin system will die.

Ok there are the fees. But they are optional arent they? Does this mean that if I do not attach a fee to my transaction it simply wont be processed? And how will I determine how big the fee should be in order it will be processed properly fast.

Please elaborate on that.

Best regards
schnuber

If you don't give any fee, it will take years to proceed. So, as you stated, there will always be fees to keep it up.
And the last bitcoins will never be mined. When we will come close to that, they will produce less than today.

+ it is possible to change the rate with a 51 % attack if most of the miners agree on something different.

But you're right, the bitcoin system will die, but for other reasons.

No pyramid scheme

A pyramid scheme is a non-sustainable business model that involves promising participants payment or services, primarily for enrolling other people into the scheme, rather than supplying any real investment or sale of products or services to the public.[1][2]

Various forms of pyramid schemes are illegal in many countries including Albania, Australia,[3][4] Austria,[5] Brazil, Canada, China,[6] Colombia,[7] Denmark, the Dominican Republic,[8] Estonia,[9] France, Germany, Hong Kong,[10] Hungary, Iceland, Iran,[11] Italy,[12] Japan,[13] Malaysia, Mexico, Nepal, the Netherlands,[14] New Zealand,[15] Norway,[16] the Philippines,[17] Poland, Portugal, Romania,[18] Russian Federation, South Africa,[19] Spain, Sri Lanka,[20] Sweden,[21] Switzerland, Taiwan, Thailand,[22] Turkey,[23] the United Kingdom, and the United States.[24]

That's a pyramid scheme.
It's the exact definition lol.

No real investment, or sale of products or whatsoever. You just get rewarded for enrolling new fucktards.

I know, it's supposed to be de-centralized from government hands, but who's to say Mt Gox doesn't have another huge hiccup next week wiping BTC off the face of the earth? (highly unlikely, but you get my point).

People will go to sell at the highest price possible which is what Mt Gox has been doing, so you have camp bx do the same thing, btc-e, etc, the amount of people needed to ddos 4-5 sites compared to 1 main exchange, less chance of panic selling, and a faster growing currency.

I think that people are DDoSing in order to make profit and increase the price of btc.

That's not because you can't access mtgox for 1 day that btc will loose is value. But you can't cancel yours orders. And when the price increased by 50 usd during the DDoS, you got it sold 50 usd less than the market price when the servers are up again.

And the markets for bitcoins is not centralized. It will not be possible to constraint every exchanges to share the same database / prices for bitcoins. That's not gonna happen, even if 2 or 3 accept it, the other ones won't.
