15981  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: mining GPU not active on: September 15, 2019, 04:15:44 PM
I have a 1080ti on riser . not mining anything yet, just booted up and after a few mins, sometimes 20-30 mins, the GPU temperature drops to zero and settings are grayed out on MSI afterburner - like it is detected, but somehow it's off. I swapped out with a different GPU (1070ti) and different risers and it does the same. this is on a fresh install of windows pro 10 build 1903. Geforce drivers 436.30 which is the latest. i uninstalled and installed drivers multiple times.

what could be causing the issue?

This belongs in altcoins I asked mods to move it.

But let’s try to troubleshoot it.

When you swapped risers did you swap the riser’s usb cord?

Did you try different pcie ports with the risers?

What is the mobo make and model?
15982  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Learn from my mistake (load balancing) on: September 15, 2019, 02:18:08 PM
... I didn't think that was possible in a state like New York , but now that you mentioned it,and since I do trust you I am feeling kind of relieved that these things happen else where and not only in the shit-hole I live in  Grin

I could tell you stories  about NYC  apartment living  when I was first married  but I will tell just two.

I was in Astoria, Queens  Just across the river from the UN building.  This leads to having a lot of diversity it is the most diverse zip code in the USA.

It was 1987  or 1988 long before BTC  personal pc's were still rare.  It was a hot night in August  and boom a blackout.  All of Queens Bronx and ½ of Manhatten shut down.  So  my wife and I said we just filled the refrigerator we will lose all our food. Since our stove was gas feed and worked I told my wife we can cook all the food. I open the refrigerator and it had power!!!   I said WTF  looked out my window and no light for miles.
I went out side not a single light of any kind.  So I told my wife I have no idea what they did but we are good. I check it out when power came up.  I turned off all breakers in my small sub-panel and refrigerator worked! My meter for the bill read zero.
So I knew I had a line that tapped into some source of power.  I opened the small receptacle and it was  10gauge not 12 or 14.  So I know I could pull more juice then the fridge.  I ran 1 air conditioner for free  from 1987/1988 to 1992 along with the fridge.  Good thing there was not any mining  it would have been tempting to max that line out.

Second story my friend did New York state taxes for the New York state government  he went on an audit of a fairly famous metal work artist.  Was looking at the  workshop and saw a door  asked the guy where does it go?  guy opens the door  walks in a 50 foot long tunnel  and goes into a 3000 square foot store room with 12 foot ceilings.   The metal work guy had access to an old hidden store room used to hid booze during the 1925-1936 prohibition of booze in the USA.

the room was not even in his building it was across the street!  lots of lights and power etc.  certainly not up to code. Roll Eyes
15983  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Antminer S9E 16th review on: September 15, 2019, 01:55:30 PM
I used the 100 units since the math was easy.

I have 4 s9k's due to ship sept 20-30

2 to my house and 2 to buysolar's place  these should legally beat the trump tax. (i hope)

I would order more  right now but I fear that the second batch gets shipped with the first one and I get trump taxed.

Now in the op's case  I think he has some free power spots  so he could order the s9e's over the s9k's.
15984  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Antminer S9E 16th review on: September 15, 2019, 12:46:56 PM
the lower priced ones could have an 8 month fail rate of 25%  and would be a better deal  then the higher prices one with an 8 month fail rate of 5%

100 units drop to 75 units 100 x 263 =  26,300

100 units drop to 95 units. 100 x 430 = 43,000

So you have a 16,700 head start  with the cheap units.

14th at 1190 watts.
16th at 1280 watts.

14 x100 = 1400  14 x 75 = 1050    1400 + 1050 = 2450/2  you average 1225 ph

16 x 100 = 1600  16 x 95 = 1520   1600 + 1520 = 3120/2 you avaerage 1560 ph

so 1560-1225 = 335th  more hash over 8 months for the s9e

for 8 months  240 x 335 x .00002 = 1.608 btc  or 16562 usd

you would be 138 ahead with the cheap gear.  not counting that you need less power with the cheap gear.

 the cheap gear with a 25% fail rate over 8 months is like 100 + 75 = 175/2  or 87.5 units
the expensive on  with a 5% fail rate over 8 months is like 100 + 95 = 195/2 or 97.5 units.

1.190 x 24 =  28.56 kwatts cheap gear
1250 x 24 =   30 kwatts expensive gear

28.56 x 87.5 x 240 = 599760kwatts
30.00 x 97.5 x 240 = 702000kwatts   lets round this difference to 100000 kwatts in favor of the s9k

at
5 cent power  5000
4 cent power  4000
3 cent power  3000
2 cent power  2000

all favor the s9k    so buying s9k's over s9e  makes sense  if the fail rates are  25% and 5%
15985  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Less than 0.3% of the world population owns more than 1$ worth of BTC on: September 15, 2019, 04:01:48 AM
Probably before real mass adoption, I would love to see a real change of trend here.
Unfortunately, Bitcoin currently can't handle that: With 328,284 transactions per day, 20 million people could each make only 6 transactions per year. A large increase in user numbers is only possible if an off-chain solution, side-chain or custodial wallet reaches mass-adoption.

And with the total attack on pow alt coins  making them less trustworthy to use  btc  now has to put up or shut up.

Asic builder/sellers  along with piss poor developers set back crypto  years by killing or at least critically wounding gpu mining.

If not for xmr developers I would pretty much lose hope  for the world of crypto.
15986  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Quiet [36 dB, 8 THs/500 W] Hotmine Convector Miner. Product Overview on: September 15, 2019, 03:55:37 AM
well 8 th and 500 watts = pretty good but what is the price 1800 usd?  and does it ship from Ukraine or Russia?  If it is not from  China  no Trump tax.

hmm maybe Putin does own Trump (A joke please do not think I am attacking anyone).

I have owned tested and played  with :

A841
A851
A921
A1041 ------------  this is pretty good as a space heater if you have the bigger psu that is not mounted
S9
S9i ---------------- my 1 board mod  is good
S9j
S15
S17pro
T15
T17
M3
M10 -------------- decent on low power
M21s ------------- decent on low power
M20s
inno t2 t24
inno t3 t39
inno t3 t50

I could most likely match or just beat the efficiency and get 14th  with a 2 board m10 set to low speed this would cost less then the model here.

my s9i 1 board mod is quiet  but  neither the s9i or a modded m10  would be as quiet as this build.

If you really need a space heater this item could be okay.  I am looking forward to seeing them in the field.

I would test and demo one  but I do not think I would buy one.  So if I did a test/demo  I would ship it to  the op once the demo is over.
15987  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: S17e 64ths for sale Price 2500$ (shipping included with Escrow) on: September 14, 2019, 11:53:20 PM
I used to do escrows and get involved with sellers like this.

Oh yes we will send one upfront to you. Let me have your shipping address.

So sometimes i would get gear. Test demo and buy it then.

Legit guys would be happy to send gear to me.

And sleazy guys would vanish.

But this year I was doxxed on badbuyer dot com

An anonymous person said I was a bad buyer on eBay.

He or she did not have  any info on my eBay account.

But they posted my real name phone number and address.

At this point I decided to not do escrow or offer to help any new people like the op.
I realized that some scammers are serious enough to do a dox on me because I was hurting their scams.

If the op has gear to sell and uses an escrow fine.

But if the op is a scammer you use a legit escrow the op has your name and shipping address.

You may get doxxed later on.  Escrows can’t help you with that.

I recommend that you be really careful about giving your name and number  and address out to a new seller.

To the op if you are legit you could come to Howell NJ USA and met me in person with the unit.
I will shake your hand and drive away with it.

I will bring it to an undisclosed location test it demo it and handle the sale of it for you.
I understand if you say no as you may be far away from Howell NJ, USA. But if you are near Howell NJ USA

You will do okay if you meet with me.
15988  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Mining with a datacenter , need experts here :) on: September 14, 2019, 10:36:27 PM
Not mining btc.

But possibly mining xmr.

That is an alt coin.

So this should be asked in the altcoin section. I have asked mods to move it to alt coins.

15990  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: What and why? When your pool begins to fall behind. on: September 13, 2019, 02:52:07 PM
Yeah I have the service myself. Without it I could never do the returns.

I am also waiting for the 2020 election.

Not that I am pro trump or anti trump but I think he has made a lot of moves that are hard on crypto in general.

There are a few dems that seem to be able to do crypto like France 🇫🇷 or Portugal 🇵🇹.

Having coin to coin exchanges with out reporting = very good.

Yeah  I do not want tax exposure for 2020.

My 2018 return is almost fixed and ready to turn in.  I will send it in Oct 1-15

My 2019 return will be delayed until Oct 1-15 2020.

And I will know by Feb or March of 2021  if I pleased the feds.

So all of 2020 I will hodl  some coins.

I will still post. But I won't be mining or selling gear.
15993  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain to release S17E 64TH on: September 13, 2019, 12:07:12 PM
With presumable close to zero electricity cost from the solar, wouldn't the lowest cost per th/s be the best idea?
S9 could be had on the cheap these days...

No not all s9  you would need  s9 and s17 pro.  As time goes on lower the s9 from 13th to 10th and add an s17 pro.

5 s9         = 70th and use 7kwatts

1 s17 pro = 50th and use 2.1kwatts

9.1kwatts

120th earns 120 x 0.00002022 or 0.002426 a day in 100 days that is 0.2426 btc or 2426 usd so buy an s17pro for dec.

drop the 5 s9s to 50th at 4.5kwatts
the 2s17 do 106th at       4.2kwatts

you are at  8.7kwatts  and you grew from 120th to 156th

to do this  you need  say 9 x 24 = 220kwatt system.

and a grid tie   a 220 kwatt system =  460-500 thousand dollars

but and the but is huge  the right states  give big incentives  and the 500 thousand is under 200000.

so you pay 200000 and the original gear for mining is  5 s9's = 2000 and 1 s17 = 3000 only 5000 in mining gear.

you allowed a 220kwatt setup  on your roof  because you created a demand with only 5k in gear.

and you have builtin ability to keep growing the gear at a cost of next to zero.

you need a property that can do 700 panels  you need  to be able to use the tax credits.  Ie  you make money at something else.

If  you can do that solar makes sense.
15994  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Innosilicon t3 50 arrived. on: September 13, 2019, 03:42:31 AM
It was not set to factory when I started it it was set to performance.

I did not run it long enough to give a fair number. But it was 52th

I am pretty happy with efficiency I will run it till I go to sleep. It is loud enough that I won’t sleep well.

I will test factory in the morning and performance in the afternoon.

I was annoyed it came late but if I can get 45 or 46 th on factory - -

48:on factory and 52 on performance .

Okay  just fired it up and set to Factory

admin
admin

signs you in

the gui looks like  my t3 39 and like my t2 24

I use an hourly kwatt meter  more accurate then the instant versions but  you need to wait for 2 hours to get a decent measurement

I estimate  it will be about 5.4 kwatts maybe more for the 2 hours.

I will photo the  meter and post once  it starts  to mine and finishes tuning.
These take about an hour to fireup fully.

reads                   1165.76
1hr should read     1168.46  actual =?  1169  which is

1169.00
1165.76

3.24 or 3240 watts  doing 48 th  this is 67.5 watts a th on factory  not that good.

the gear is cycling which is a no no  I will see if it stops
I suspect that factory is not a good setting for it.

the meter is at 1169 kwatts at  11 am  we are  doing 48th on factory

I did have a lot of recycling for about 30 minutes which has stopped.

so I will test again   11am 1169 kwatts   48 th New York time on factory

I will let it run for a few hours as I want to be accurate.

It is doing very close to 49th at factory setting
In 18 minutes it will be 2pm it  be 3 hours since 11 am reading of 1169.00

so 1169 + 9.3 = 1178.3   that would be  3100 watts and hour  or 3100/49 = 63 watts I do not think that will happen

actual 3 hour reading = 1178.71
                                    1169
9.71/3 =  3,237/49 = 66 watt a th at the wall  it is rated 3100/50 = 62 watts a th.  not sure it that is wall or dc rating.

so factory setting is okay  :

49 vs 50
 3237 watts at wall

webpage info below:

Innosilicon, the industry leader of all coin crypto mining ASICs, launches a new powerful BTC miner with enhanced performance. It adopts the state-of-the-art technology and reaches 50TH/S in high hash mode. In case of energy saving, this miner also provide a high efficiency mode with 33 TH at 1650W.

Hashrate: 50TH/s (+/-5%)
Power Consumption: 3100W ( +/- 10%, normal mode, at the wall, with 93% efficiency PSU, 25°C temperature )
Dimensions: 303mm(L)*203mm(W)*278mm(H)
Allowed ambient temperature range: 0-40°
Network Connection: Ethernet
Note: This miner not only can achieve 50TH (+-5%) at 3100W (+-10%) in high hash mode in case we want to maximize hash rate, but also has a high efficiency mode to reach 1650W (+-10%) for 33TH (+-5%) in case energy saving is needed.
Please make sure your farm use proper cooling, dust filter and 16A AC cable to meet the proper operating condition requirements.
Humidity <75%, AC voltage 210~240V, Power supply AC input current 16A, dust <0.5 Mg/m3."

so 49 vs 50 is 2%    1th lower which is spec
3237w vs 3100wx is 4.4% or  237w higher which is spec

of course it is 66watts a th  vs 61 watts a th  which is very typical of inno to do exactly this

I let it go for 5 hours to 4pm New York time

so
1185
1169
16 kwatts spent which is 3.2 or 3200 watts  for 49th  that is   3200/49 = 65.3 watts on factory setting

The next test will be lowest setting   as 33th at 1650 watts is promised if exactly on spec it would be 50 watts a th

translation of that is  33th x .95 = 31.35th  and 1650 x 1.1 = 1815 watts  that is 1815/31.35 = 57.9 watts a th

if I can get it to do 52watts a th rather then my 57.9 watt guess I would like that.

I just set it to lowest most efficient speed.  I will wait till 5pm and get readings

oh temps read 69 to 70 c on my 3 boards at factory settings.

1187.51 is the 5pm reading.

34.33  is the hashrate  I will check it later   to see what we do with this setup.

if this gear does 50 watts a th  the 1 hour  meter read would be

1189.23.

Actually if it can do 50 watts a th it has some staying power down the road. If you can buy it at a lower price in a few months.

I tested at lowest setting efficient and I am really disappointed in the gear.

it does 40th at 2460 watts which =  61.5 watts a th so it completely missed  the promised low setting numbers of   33.5th and 1650 watts.

I won't order anymore of these.  I want to thank minefarmbuy  for  handling this in a professional manner.
I took the unit to buysolar's house and put in in the barn to us that solar  array
I cranked unit up to factory +   which seems to do 53th at 3600 watts that is 68 watts a th  a lot more than the advertised  62 watts a th.

for now with current diff and coin price  it is okay gear but  it will lose profit at a diff of 23.8   as it will earn 5.62 usd and cost 5.62  if coins are 10200 and your power is 6.5 cents

if the down clocked worked as advertised.  it would earn $3.53 and cost $2.57  to run it when diff is 23.8 and coins are 10200

for the record  I would return this  to inno if I could but I used minefarmbuy  which  does allow a return and minefarmbuy  takes the hit.

inno deserves a hit on this gear.  They completely missed the down clock specs  even if you add in the -+ ranges they blew it .

I would love to see if they put out a firmware that gives the promised 50 watt a th on low speed.

Till then I do not want any more of their gear.

If my testing is wrong  and I had a meter issue someone show the unit at low speed doing close to 33th at 1650 watts.
I am only human and would love to be proven wrong and that  the downclock goes a lot closer to the 50 watts a th promised.

Be advised  that 61watts a th is very far from 50watts a th in the case of the t3 t50  low speed setting.
15995  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Innosilicon t3 50 arrived. on: September 13, 2019, 03:17:31 AM
Looks like it settled in at 43 th and does 63.3 watts a th

This is on balanced++ setting.

Of course Inno firmware set fans to 100% and gear is around 59c a board.

Since these go up to Clifton NJ the loud noise is okay but I would prefer 90% not 100%

This are pretty loud I do not think they will please a wife or girlfriend with noise factor.
15996  Economy / Computer hardware / WhatsMiner M10 hashboard. on: September 12, 2019, 11:20:34 AM
I have a whatsminer m10 hashboard to sell.

Prefer to sell in USA

It does around 9.7 th to 10.1 on high

It does around 5.9 to 6.1 on low

will take ltc or btc

Terms are send the coin and I will ship it. Trust in me.

It should be under 20 to ship.

at 40 a th it is worth 400 + 20 = 420   don't offer 420  go lower.  but don't think it will be  210

ie   bid over 210 and under 420  I will leave it open for a while.

15997  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Antminer S9 profit after the halving? on: September 12, 2019, 02:00:51 AM
Well, S17 and (soon to be) S17e are already turning S9 into unprofitable machines. But it mostly depends on models (price of electricity and of course price of BTC) as some are already highly unprofitable and some are close to zero profitability with average electricity cost of 0.1$ per kWh and price of BTC around 10,200$.

Also, no one can predict the future but it is very likely that the difficulty trend will continue to rise slowly. And when halving comes, it will make a lot of miners truly unprofitable(if price does not rise). So difficulty for short period might get lower as big farms may stop mining.

But for your electricity, it might be profitable for quite some time as your electricity truly is cheap.

Also, this is just my opinion and not in any way financial advice!

Yeah coin price drives miners hard. Ie if coins move quick to 20000 they will outpace the diff.

This happened in the spring coins went from 4000 to as high as 13400.

A fast price rise to the 20000 level makes the s9 good for a long while.

A drop in price to 7000 knocks the s9:out.
15998  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Antminer S9 profit after the halving? on: September 12, 2019, 01:51:57 AM
Price of coin ratio to difficulty ratio

Coins are 10000 diff is 10.7

S9 makes profit at 8 or less cents.

Pretend blocks 1/2 in a day

If price goes up to  make up  for less coins  then the s9 turns profit.

So 6.25 coins at 20000 makes up for 12.5 coins at 10000

But if diff to coin ratio does not change the s9 becomes a loser.

Well 2 t17e cost 3194  plus  shipping and trump tax  will do 106th

https://shop.bitmain.com/product/detail?pid=000201909090947096086cx515TP0659

3 t17 cost 3435 plus shipping and trump tax will do 114th

https://shop.bitmain.com/product/detail?pid=00020190911152351284Iy546I9c063C

either deal arrives nov 11-20

of course  3 s9k  cost 789 plus shipping no trump tax and do 42th

https://shop.bitmain.com/product/detail?pid=00020190911155155939FluJlFo406C8

if you and two friends order a total of 9 s9k's    you get   126th  in 2 weeks or so.  cost is 2367  plus shipping  no trump tax if 3 orders to 3 different addresses

very interesting set of choices to make here.

I will wait to get some gear in before I order again.   my inno comes in a day  my s9k's ship in 9 days.    that is 50 + 54 = 104.

Nice, we have $213.40 to issue.

Okay it arrives tomorrow hoping it works I do a demo and move it up to clifton nj by sat or sunday.
