The observed drop of AM hashrate can only mean that the company is doing something. And I'm always happy with AM doing something:)

If Friedcat filled a Super Soaker with gasoline, sprayed down the datacenter and lit it on fire, that'd make you happy?

If its all part of standard thermal testing for a new product, then FUCK YEAH!!!!

I haven't checked the BTC price since early May, and was relieved to see the price hasn't changed at all.  Smiley

Lowest hash rate Ive seen from AM in a bit, 'only' 17% atm.

maybe he's unplugging the "newer efficient" blade eruptors so he can start selling them to us,
meanwhile plugging in 2nd gen   Cool

Are there no divs today?

Thank you for reminding me, I got distracted by other exciting things. I need to keep bugging Ukto to get dividend scheduling added as a feature...

can you set a reminder on your phone?   Undecided

I don't have a phone.

Damn.. do you have a computer?

If I can get a moderators word that all these tags will be removed.  They're starting to get annoying.

if you buy ASIC hardware, you are fighting difficulty for a year without any chance of increasing your hashrate.  You would be right if difficulty was always going to be constant, but it's not.  Friedcat has a lot of money available to advance his technology, so he has the ability to fight a steep difficulty incline.  In 6 months, your hardware could be garbage as the 2nd generation of ASICS are ruling the network, then you will wish you had AM shares..
172  Economy / Securities / Re: ASICMINER: Entering the Future of ASIC Mining by Inventing It on: June 14, 2013, 03:18:09 PM
Here's why I think we're headed to 3.5:

1) The most important reason is during the first BTC crash to 100, many people sold AM down to 2.25 so they could get their BTC out into fiat. Many people (some new) were waiting for just that opportunity. AM quickly recovered even with BTC below 100. I think the reason we have seen it rally now is being some people have regret that decision and have been making their way back in. I figure a lot are still holding fiat because BTC is bearish and are waiting for a bottom below the 90s.
2) I see being are that the walls are broken down at 2.5, giving us a solid base of new comers at 2.5, and 3.0 isn't quite profitable enough to cause much selling off (0.5 profit when you're expecting more, you hold).
3) The way AM is going, even with an average dividend of 0.02 (we've been seeing 0.03+ recently), then the yearly earning on 1 share at 3.5 BTC is 1.04 BTC, which is 29.7% APR. I think 25-30% APR is the right amount of interest for a people to get in on a venture like this.
4) AM is advertising, bringing in people who hadn't considered or overlooked AM for a while (as shown by recent posts).
5) AM CEO, friedcat, is doing everything right, and following through. Under-promising and over-delivering.

I'm all in on AM, so that makes it easy for me to assess an opinion in this way.

I agree with all of your points, but what makes me nervous is the speed at which the share price is rising.  It feels a bit like a bubble.  People are excited, I get that, the sell walls are gone, etc, etc, lots of reasons for the price to go up.  But, what are the reasons for the price to jump from 2.5 to 2.9 in a day?  Is it real value or speculation?

I just hope the new guys don't freak on Weds when the dividend will be considerably lower than last week.

That being said, I'm all in, too, and I believe in AM.  But, I won't be buying at 3 right now, and to be honest, anything above ~2.6 seems too high for me, right now.

Friedcats post regarding better eruptor blades by late june or july could have had something to do with the constant price rise.
173  Economy / Securities / Re: ASICMINER: Entering the Future of ASIC Mining by Inventing It on: June 14, 2013, 09:29:04 AM
We're not going to 3 BTC guys...

We're going to 3.5 BTC. How long did it stay 2 BTC? Not very. Enthusiasm brings us to a middle-ground. We see 3 BTC. We want 4 BTC. We settle for 3.5 BTC.
At a price of 5 BTC this share gives you a rock solid yearly return of more than 20%. This is from mining alone. Considering the growth potential, the value cannot be undererestimated. Probably in the 10 to 15 range.

on the other hand if every share would be worth 5 BTC, then the company would be worth pretty much 2 000 000 BTC, which is 17 percent of bitcoins in circulation, that would be a lot, some could say too much Smiley

nothing wrong with too much..
174  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin should be at $13,500 ? on: June 14, 2013, 09:25:33 AM
The article does not into account the whole picture

+ the main argument should not be based on stupid assumption like "the bitcoin market should represent xxxx in the future", but "how much an average human being is willing to pay for 1 bitcoin?".

Considering a 10 % chance of loosing it all, does anyone will be willing to spend 13.5 k usd for that? Not even close...

You're assuming people would be dealing with entire bitcoins regularly. what's wrong with a satoshi

Shares seem to be selling well at 2.7 each now that the 2.5 wall is gone.

Planning on selling 12 shares for 3 btc each! Nothing less. The bull in me has spoken.

Why are you going to sell AM shares for 3 BTC each when you know they're going to be worth 4?  Grin

What if BFL and avalon ship everything tomorrow? Shares would go down to 2BTC.

Profit is profit.

I think Friedcat has a couple tricks up his sleeve and has prepared himself well for competition arriving, if they ever do

178  Economy / Securities / Re: [BitFunder] [TAT.VIRTUALMINE] Virtual Mining - Hash Without Hardware! on: June 14, 2013, 02:53:38 AM
I have 1250 shares of VIRTUALMINER.
That is 8.75 btc investment for .04BTC/day, or .28BTC/week, or 14.56BTC/year.

This looks like a much larger dividend return annually than AM.

where did i mess up

179  Economy / Securities / Re: [BitFunder] [TAT.VIRTUALMINE] Virtual Mining - Hash Without Hardware! on: June 14, 2013, 02:48:16 AM
I'm confused.. how do these dividends pay more than ASICMINER dividends if they are BACKED by AM shares?  Shouldn't they be the same?

For the cost of 1 asicminer you get ~385 virtualmine. 1 share Asicminer div is ~0.036 a week. 1 share Virtualmine is 0.00003223 a day. I'm sure I don't have to spell it out for you. Virtualmine is ~2.4x more a week. If you're look solely on dividends virtualmine is undervalue compare to asicminer.

Can we look at % annual return, rather than direct share comparison?  (sorry I thought this was obvious)
This would be like me saying asicminer-PT pay more divdends than asicminer-TAT -- obviously not true, as their dividend return % should be the same.

Lets talk strictly % return please..
