nvidia bios are encrypted.  Good luck modifying them.

Not like it matters, its super easy to get 30 mhs out of a 1070 anyway. Just increase mem clock to like +700 or whatever the card can handle. So much easier than trash AMD cards.

Thank you based Nvidia.

I would hope so if I paid almost twice the price of a 570. Sounds like you're trying to justify your purchase because all the AMD cards were out of stock. Or you couldn't figure out how to flash a bios and get 29 Mh/s stable.

Uh dude I sold all my RX cards for $400+ on ebay each and bought 1070's for less than $400 each. This was as soon as the RX Dag issue info came out. Sorry you got stuck with those RX cards.

For those of us business savvy we made out like bandits off of idiots buying RX cards at a huge markup. I run a store (TRS also) on eBay reselling so fees were hardly an issue.

Like I said, "AMD trash"

Fuck em, no one uses trash PNY GPU's anyway.
164  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: New miner here!!! KY on: July 06, 2017, 10:23:26 PM
Ouch.. Well that sux.
Funny how i love n coal country but have super high electricity.

You dont have super high electricity... you are paying 8.7 cents per kilowatt hour which is pretty damn good considering the national average for the US is around 12 cents per kilowatt hour.

You are right there with China for low power cost per this graph. https://www.ovoenergy.com/guides/energy-guides/average-electricity-prices-kwh.html

Industrial rates are lower but for a home mining setup thats about as good as it gets for the US honestly. I pay about 10 cents per kwh in Western NC and I think thats pretty OK.
165  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Anyone using the $80 AMD Radeon RX 550 yet? on: July 05, 2017, 08:01:56 PM
mining now with sapphire rx 550 4gb something like 7-8MHs eth, stock settings /zec 70, xmr 250/

Total trash for the money spent since the 4GB version is more costly. Youd be much better off with a $100-$110 4GB 460 pushing 12-13, maybe even 14-15 with shader unlock BIOS.

Cheapest 4GB 550 I can find is $99.99 so yeah, a 4GB 460 for $10 more would make a lot more sense, especially the XFX model from bestbuy ($109) that can be unlocked to 1024 shaders(AKA RX 560).
166  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Do you have a fire suppression system ? on: July 03, 2017, 06:56:23 PM

Do you have a fire suppression system?

Mine is keep anything flammable away from the rigs, give them space...not much of a system.

What have to done to deal with chance of a fire?

I keep some extinguishers near by. I really doubt anyone here has a dedicated fire suppression system. Of course you need a smoke alarm near the rigs.

The datacenter at my work uses Novec 1230 gas but that is far beyond the means of a hobbiest. Although, it would be the best type of suppression system since you'd lose the least amount of hardware.

A water based system would be nearly as bad as every card going up in flames, I guess you could use pure demineralized water but not sure how feasible that is. A water based system can ruin a house to the point it needs to be destroyed as well (mold).
167  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Solo mining (WARNING: NOOB QUESTION) on: July 02, 2017, 03:13:15 AM
Ahhhh! Thank you. Right now I'm mining Verge, and running about 22mh/s. In 8hrs last night I got 2 blocks myself in a pool. So gonna test the waters again with solo lol

complete and total waste of time with 22 mhs.  Roll Eyes
168  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Cheapest 'PDU' thats at least 12kw? on: July 01, 2017, 08:47:53 PM
How does this work? Wouldnt the circuit breaker and the copper wiring pretty much melt at that much kwh?

It pulls 240 volt from a 240 volt source which may be 30 AMPS @ 240 volts which would be 7200 watts.
169  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: free electicity, what's next? on: July 01, 2017, 12:44:27 AM
hi all,
i am new to bitcoin mining, after reading many and many topics i found that electricity is one of the major factors to make mining profitable. i have free electricity (legit way) and some computers (10 maybe with AMD Radeon HD 6450 as graphic card and i3/i5 cpu), so, is there anyway to gain profit from that?
any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Radeon 6450 is a low end card that is absolute trash and not good for any mining whatsoever. All you can do is CPU mine really.
170  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Is my hashrate low? HD 7950 on: July 01, 2017, 12:42:27 AM
Hi everyone, I've caught interest in cryptocurrencies a while ago, but I only read and thought about it.

Now I've decided to give it a try on my current oldish rig, just to get a bit more familiar with it, and possible gain some change.
I'm on windows 10, latest drivers, with an XFX 7950 mining with Claymore's dual miner for ETH +DCR/SIA etc. (version 9.3).

I'm mining in dual mode, Ethereum and Decred, and my hashrate is pretty low, around 10.5 Mh/s for ETH and 325 Mh/s for DCR, where I should be getting around 16-18 for ETH, and much more for DCR (I can't find exactly how my card is supposed to perform here, but apparently more than 1000 Mh/s).

Now, I've already tried rolling back drivers to 15.2, or whatever is the version that Claymore's miner is suggesting, but it didn't change a thing.
I've also been mining on the same pools (nanopool for ETH and Suprnova for DCR) for a couple of days now, but the rate hasn't increased even slightly.
Also overclocked the gpu a bit to squeeze more performance out of it, around 1025 core and 1450 mem.

Is there anything else that I can do to increase my hashrate, or is it actually where it should be?

I'd rather not use a dedicated OS for mining, since I'm using my only desktop rig to just "get something" when I'm not around to use it, but maybe a docker could help?

Thanks in advance

7950 is being thrashed by the DAG and cant keep up anymore. What you are seeing is normal. These are not good for Eth anymore since they can only do RX 460 numbers with 3 x  the consumption.
171  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Which rx580 choose on: July 01, 2017, 12:12:39 AM
ps. AMD and Nvidia's board partners already released dedicated mining cards and NEwegg even had some recently.

Can you please provide a link for us on newegg for those cards they "already had some recently" Huh Grin

It was posted on this forum.

but here is one: https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814202291

Sold out quickly, as you might imagine.
172  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Be a miner as a dayjob... on: June 30, 2017, 06:27:30 PM
Hello guys,

I was wondering on something and need your input:
Let say you have 120*8GPU rigs (Big initial investment) -->1060/1070 you name it.

You would be almost sure to be able to mine the equivalent of 150$ a month/rig --> not talking about Eth, any altcoin.

With current hardware, do you think it would be sustainable to do at least 150$/day with a 8 GPU rig until at least mid 2018, with any altcoin?
Difficulty should not be a problem as the target is "only" to reach 150$ equivalent. Any possible way, switching currency, going NiceHash etc...

So it would be 120*150$= 18 000$/month

Thanks

Guarantee you take at least a month from today to get the cards and the rigs set up.... what you're talking about is a huge gamble.
173  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Which rx580 choose on: June 30, 2017, 06:19:29 PM
Hi guys,

Probably i'm gonna start soon the first amd rig but i'm still choosing the gpu and i'm a bit confused about the choice;

These are the gpu that i can take:

-ASUS STRIX RX580 8G-GA 8GB
-ASUS 8GB RX580-DUAL
or wait weeks for the sapphire (580 8GB)

Which i should choose and why?

Thanks

ps. i know that probably around september amd and nvidia will release dedicated hw Smiley

The fuck? You DO realize that RX cards will be crippled going forward right? Anyone, and I mean ANYONE that willingly buys AMD RX cards at this point is 100% shooting themselves in the foot.

Would you buy a car that in 6 months would go from 300 HP to 200 hp? I dont think so....

ps. AMD and Nvidia's board partners already released dedicated mining cards and NEwegg even had some recently.

I run 10 x AMD E-350 rigs (windows 10) with 64 gb SSD and 2 GB ram and I swear they are the slowest fuckin things.

They get the job done though, I have noticed that Claymore miner cant create a DAG Epoch with teamviewer is actively viewing the screen on that rig.

Teamviewer takes up 50% CPU on AMD E-350.
176  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: US Income Taxes from Trading Crypto and Mining - Coinbase on: June 29, 2017, 10:51:13 PM
... don´t worry about taxes.

Just bring them in mind, when you trade
or take a rise from your "stocks".

Taxes are not bad (if not misused)
because without
there wouldn´t be streets, nor schools !

We all have to give our littlebit,
to keep the big wheel turning.

... just my two satoshies.

 Grin PanneKopp

I refuse to pay taxes on crpyto, I already LOOSE OVER 25% of my regular job income to pay "taxes". Most of which go to others(leeches, welfare queens) ..... NOT infrastructure.

Ill be god damned if they think im paying taxes on fucking crypto. This is just the greedy government sticking their hands in everyone's pie as soon as it seems lucrative enough to do so....Just like the FAA making shit up on the spot about drones and "registration" on what is essentially a toy (come on, a phantom 3 is a fucking toy)

I understand the need for taxes in a society but I already pay my fair share, isnt that enough?

Its gonna be so fucked for those people that traded/mined in 2014-2016 if they get a 1099 retroactively. You dont get to just make shit up and then demand back taxes, that to me is 100% wrong.

Someone with that knowledge probably wont post it on a public forum. Thats quite a list and a very specific request.

That said, I can confirm that EVGA mini cards have samsung, if that helps.

Those the single fan ITX ones?

Yes, I have the Gaming and Gaming SC and let me tell you, dont even buy the lowest end "Gaming" one. It uses the 1050 Ti heatsink and it is marginal, at best. Fans at 100% dual mining.... SC cards much better heatsink, hardly over 70C and like 45% fan speed.

Im after some help regarding finding out what kind of memory certain 1060 cards have before i buy them as i would prefer not to have the dreaded hynix memory.

So can anyone tell me what memory the following cards have please?

MSI GTX1060 OCV1

Gigabyte GTX1060 WF2 (GV-N1060WF2OC-6GD)

Gigabyte GTX1060 G1 Gaming (GV-N1060G1 Gaming-6GD V2)

PNY GTX1060 OC Gaming 6GB

MSI GTX1060 Armor 6G OC

MSI GTX1060 Gaming X 6G

If anyone has any personal experience woth these cards about hashrate with ETH please comment.

Thanks.

People should begin to get serious about selling their RX cards, if they haven't already. I got in while the gettin was good. Sold every RX card for over $400 and promptly bought cheap 1070's under $400.

The very day that it is fully confirmed that this is a hardware issue, essentially, non fixable I guarantee you eBay will get flooded with $300 RX cards while Nvidia will sell out that much more. You probably wont even be able to find 1050 Ti's for cheap.

by the time we hit epoc 150 most rx cards if bough even today would have paid for themselves, gtx 1070s are price jacked up all over the place right now anyways or limits per 1 or two per order no reason to dump cards that are mining fine right now

I've been telling everyone the same thing but apparently no one can compute basic math.

"Yes lets sell our AMD gpus today for $300 which make $5/day so we can buy a $600 GPU which makes $4/day and in 6 months it will make me $0.50/day instead of the $0.33/day we would of made with the AMD gpu we've sold".

I never said SALE for $300 only that the price WILL fall that low (or lower) when it is finally confirmed that this is a hardware defect with RX cards. Also what $600 GPU??? 1070's can routinely be had for $399. Just this morning around 2:30 AM EST I saw GTX 1070 on EVGA's website for $399.....

what you SHOULD have done was unload when RX cards were fetching $400 minimum and bought 1070's BEFORE they went $400+.

You can try to justify holding onto them but at the end of the day, some of us did actually get free upgrades to GTX 1070's. It was the smart thing to do no matter how you slice it. It cost me zero $ out of pocket. In fact I managed to get some GTX 1070 for under $300 on eBay thanks to best offer and 10% eBay bucks.
