161  Bitcoin / Project Development / Half-Baked Escrow Compression Bitcoin Scheme on: March 23, 2013, 04:09:00 AM
So i was thinking about sending all the files to a client as one encrypted compressed file as well kind of like an "insurance" but its not really if you can't unlock anything with out the password anyways. Wouldn't it be cool to unlock files or perhaps even better "blocks" of data according to how much of the amount has been paid for instance if I have a to send file 1.txt 2.txt 3.txt and 4.txt to the client I could encrypt them all and If half the bitcoins are sent only 1 and 2 are unlocked and if all are sent 1,2,3,4 are unlocked. The reasoning is that perhaps the client can review the files to the extend that they wish and when they’ve "seen enough" they can stop payment and continue with more conversing of improvements until futher payment is made... Probably not too practical for everyone to directly sow into the Blockchain or Saotshi client but still a fun idea non the less for a new type of escrow.
162  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Idea: Use Multi Sig to have lost property returned to you. on: March 22, 2013, 09:41:23 PM
I get it that once the owner had the phone back they could give the "person whom found it" the other side of the key, (or release the Bitcoins). I don't think multisig works best in this case, you should jsut have a sticker that says "If found you will receive X amount of Bitcoins upon return"
163  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: How to make donations to bitcoind coders? on: March 22, 2013, 07:35:06 PM
I doubt they are hurting for money, (not to sound negative) but I believe Bitcoin can be helped by funding it by other means. However I could be wrong I don't know if they are asking for any returns for their work.

I have seen those guys in combat and they run from gunfire.

I need to see a video of you actually watching them running from gun fire..... or it didn't happen LOL
165  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: PHP Bitcoin Development Kit | v0.0.46_pre7 | Video Tutorials | BitcoinDevKit.com on: March 20, 2013, 07:55:10 PM
The video wasn’t that popular (in views) so I'll have to guess that the scripts are more a necessity then videos, but that goes with out saying that videos are helpful complement to scripts.

170  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: PHP Bitcoin Development Kit | Alpha Release canidate v0.0.43 | BitcoinDevKit.com on: March 19, 2013, 03:34:28 PM
The website has been updated and there should be absolutely no broken links and no more "redirects to HTML pages".

Not quite, the logo leads to http://bitcoindevkit.com/index.html not .php (404)

Thanks fixing it Cheesy

174  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: PHP Bitcoin Development Kit | Dev. Phase v0.0.46_pre7 | BitcoinDevKit.com on: March 17, 2013, 03:19:05 PM
For those whom have been waiting I'm working on the tutorials for Windows 7 + XAMPP + BDK + Bitcoin these tutorials will be available for free online with super low quality video and medium quality sound, if you want to see whats going on you can purchase any "pack" that advertises "Presentation Videos" in the pricing options obviously upon purchase you get the full resolution of videos and the highest of quality of sound. You will receive only presentation videos that correspond to the scripts that are included, meaning if you purchase the "Donor" pack you will receive only the videos that go with the "Simple Example Scripts" that come with it and to give a comparison if you purchased the "Enterprise" pack you will receive all the videos because it comes with the simple & advanced scripts.

I might also note that it won't be just Windows I will be covering, You will also receive both Windows AND Linux video tutorials, as it is recommended to run a Bitcoin website under Linux anyways, but Windows has the perks of learning something new more quickly.

Pre Purchase will be available after the 24th of this month of March.
175  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Writing a Bitcoin exchange on: March 16, 2013, 04:04:08 PM
If your exchange involves serving web pages http://bitcoindevkit.com is your library, However if you want to server pages AND do realtime proccessing your going to want to do a C++ and PHP method. PHP will serve pages, and C++ will do the proccessing however I don't have a C++ library for the Bitcoin Dev Kit project as of yet just the PHP so if your project can do with out the realtime and huge loads (which for a school project shouldn't be an issue) then you can create a PHP only exchange (which isn't recommended for anything serious like MTGox, you should defiantly use PHP and C++ like stated before.)

Ahem, you don't want PHP, C++, or {insert whatever language here}
You want something that serves a specific purpose, ease of maintenance, performance, etc.
Why not Ruby+Redis ? Why not Node.js+Mongodb ? Why not Erlang+Cassandra ? Why not PHP+MySQL ?
It's not the tool that matters, it's the skill with which you use it.

Thanks again davout for your lovely insight.

178  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: BitChat [TESTERS NEEDED] on: March 16, 2013, 12:33:59 PM
call me paranoid but this is a possible attack as the response to the opensource bit in private message was the following:
Quote
Yep, I would release the code after testing and all the things. It is programmed in Game Maker Language.

The attack could be nefarious exe code advertised as GML binary.
179  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: BitChat [TESTERS NEEDED] on: March 16, 2013, 12:13:47 PM
I don't know if its a communication error or what but i asked OP for opensource files and i was still presented with a Binary .exe file... I would defiantly isolate this program on a test box or not at all if offered.

Do we need two threads?

And I'm already helping create this in C++/Qt your welcome to contribute Cheesy
