IDK at this point, seems to be holding pretty strong at $40K.

Maybe the days of 80% corrections after ATHs are over?

I'm still bearish personally, but it has been a great your for Crypto in general. We'll see.
162  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Fear Index at 10 on: January 12, 2022, 05:00:36 AM
Fear is low, will take another 20-30% correction to get the panic selling started. Lots of people got in on the bull run and really think the total crypto market cap can double or even triple in the coming months.
163  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to Get Rich with Bitcoin on: January 11, 2022, 11:27:22 PM
The point I am making is that trying to get Rich FROM Bitcoin is a pipe dream. It is better work on skills that offer real value and invest in income sources than to rely solely on HODLing crypto.

Many people, such as early adopters of bitcoin, for instance, have become wealthy because they believed in things and ideas that most would consider rather idealistic and childishly naive. It may well be they didn't want to get rich from bitcoin, but still, they were rewarded for their persistence, faith, and rational thinking. I tend to agree with you that nowadays it is rather naive to consider bitcoin a get-rich-quick-scheme able to make all your problems go away. But bitcoin may help "poor people" to develop certain skills, qualities, a mindset that are necessary to make seemingly pipe dreams come true. For example, bitcoin discourages people from unnecessary uncontrolled consumption, instead, it incentivizes people to postpone the consumption of even necessary things. People witnessing the ever-growing value of bitcoin start thinking for the future more than the present. The more they save, the better off they will be in the future when bitcoin is highly distributed and widely adopted. Not only does bitcoin incentivize people to save and defer consumption, but it also encourages them to learn and think about the state of affairs critically, which also may help them to make fortune because smart people will often make more rational investment decisions than complete idiots who refuse to read and learn.

Most of the Long HODLers had other income sources to sustain the inevitable ups and downs of Bitcoin.

If they were living solely off their crypto, they would have cashed out at any one of the ATHs.

4. Memorize a Brain wallet phrase that only you will EVER know

Brain wallets are unsafe. This is either a mistake, either a bad choice of words.

The seed for HD wallets (which some may confused with brain wallets, until they learn) is, on the other hand, secure if created with a proper good tool and in a safe environment, but should not be memorized as a backup. That's a sure way to lose the funds! The seed has to be kept safely, offline, in a written form. People forget, people suffer accidents or strokes, human mind is just not good enough.

And two more tips:

* consider buying hardware wallets for your coins if you plan to spend
* always double check the addresses you paste and the amounts you send when you do transactions.

I guess by Brain wallet, I mean the seed for the SHA250 encryption that produces the Private Key. Can be any combination of letters, numbers, words, etc.

But imo, Hardware wallets have been shown to be unsafe, hacked, privacy issues and hardware malfunctions. Can you recommend any good ones?
165  Other / Beginners & Help / Some Legit Tips for Newbs that will help you Win on: January 10, 2022, 03:46:45 PM
You want to win at crypto?

1. Never leave funds on any website or exchange.

2. Withdraw immediately to a wallet where you manage the Private Keys

3. Store savings on Paper Wallets generated OFFLINE

4. Memorize a Brain wallet phrase that only you will EVER know

5. Keep 50/50 Crypto and Cash or other Liquid assets

6. Diversify your Crypto but keep mainly Bitcoin

7. Do not trust anyone

Any questions?

Tried to tell my friends back in the summer that $60k+ was a good time to sell because bear market was incoming.

No one listened. They all were hypnotized by the YouTubers shilling alt coins and thought another 10x was around the corner.

Now, 6 months later they are all talking about the crash incoming.

N00bs....
or Maybe they are here to Hold? that's why they did not really consider selling because they can afford to keep holding for long term?

like what the early adopters did , maybe your friends are willing to be holder than selling in ATH  Grin

but the sad part is they may have doubled their funds now if they did sell in 60k plus and will buy again if time comes price drops down to 30k.

That's just it, everyone is a HODLr until they realize they could've bought a house.

Don't get me wrong, I'm HODLing crypto, but I try to keep 50/50 crypto and fiat or other liquid capital to offset market fluctuations. My friends that have Crypto Fever are 100% all in, and in for a surprise.

If I have too much crypto and the price is high I sell. If I have too much cash and the price is low I will buy crypto.  Smiley

Best long-term strategy IMO.

IMO Bitcoin is a Digital Asset or Commodity similar to Domain Names.

You are buying ownership of a piece of the Blockchain.
168  Economy / Speculation / Re: [POLL] Will Bitcoin dip below $40K? on: January 09, 2022, 03:35:31 PM
Yes we will drop to the median after the latest candlestick bull run, but of course will return to a new ATM in the next year or two.

Probably create such a topic next time before the drop actually happened, not after. So you just wouldn't look like some Mr. hindsight who wants to look smart in an internet forum and calling people noobs.

172  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: monitoring social trends related to bitcoin is reliable? on: January 09, 2022, 12:24:49 AM
The actual price varies according to many different factors, some built into the Bitcoin code itself. These 4 year bull/bear cycles are nothing new.

You've got bitcoin halving, companies acquiring and holding cryptos, alt coins, economies, etc all affecting price. Long term up yes, but in between can be wild.

I am wondering how your site is about bitcoin faucet and you came up with the idea of how someome can earn bitcoin? I hope other members can check if your site in your signature is legit or not. But to make my own opinion, faucets are no more profitable, it wasted my time in the first few weeks I started to know about bitcoin.

There are some good faucets and I have made decent money using the trusted ones. Completing offers, clicking ads, etc. It is small earning at first, but can grow over time.

Free crypto is still free crypto! First Bitcoin Faucets gave out whole Bitcoins and it wasn't worth much then.
174  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to Get Rich with Bitcoin on: January 08, 2022, 12:29:05 AM
First you Get Rich, then you Buy Bitcoin.
I thought this was written by a newbie but checked again to find a Legendary member doing this. A higher rank is supposed to set an example for the lower ranks to follow. Your activities on www.bpip.org show there has been no change of password or email in the last 30 days. So I assume the account hasn't changed owners and it is just you not caring enough to put some effort into your writing. And enjoying the freedom of one line lasts and you have been getting away with it since.

Thank you for your input. The point I am making is that trying to get Rich FROM Bitcoin is a pipe dream. It is better work on skills that offer real value and invest in income sources than to rely solely on HODLing crypto.

Bitcoin is a great utility to take control of your finances,  but I would suggest any newbie focus on how to use Bitcoin in your business and not making Bitcoin your business.

176  Bitcoin / Mining / Mining Difficulty when you Started vs. Mining Difficulty Now on: January 07, 2022, 11:30:19 PM
What was the Bitcoin Mining Difficulty when you started mining?

I remember when the difficulty was 15 Million in 2013 and that was insane then. Today on January 7th it is 24.2 Trillion.

Anyone hit any blocks in awhile or is it all pool mining now?
